Almost a year since Maria hit us, and I thought I was ready to see these images, but I just can’t. Just watching this video and listening to the sound of the wind gusts, and of all the things breaking and flying around the people recording brought it all back... Can’t help to get teary eyed just remembering that those images were just the begging of long months of continued suffering, uncertainty, stress and goodbyes to friends and family who had to leave to try to get their lives back together. These videos are an important testimony of what happened, but I’m not ready to watch them just yet.
i wasn't there but we have family from San Juan and San Germán who are still staying with us so i feel you man i really do
Maria don't like Puerto Rico
I know how you feel, I was in Irma's eye wall less than 2 weeks before maria did it's thing, and I lost my house.
That's my home town ..YABUCOA I love you ..God bless my people my island .my prayers with all of u ...
Thanks for the vídeo. Thats the city I grew up in. I can't help it but to cry thinking how much my family suffered
G Zen hi

Jonathan PUERTO RICAN hi...?
Gigi Zen im from Arecibo... Cercadillo
You had a lot of courage to be there recording that.... Congratulations
Thats insane, people need to see what happened on the island and this is as raw as it gets.
Leo Velez I live in Yabucoa and Maria was no hurricane that thing was a monster
Leo Velez anthonysantos
Leo Velez yes sir..
this was literally steps from my house... the Winds were so loud it sounded like a lady was screaming outside which of course was terrifying
Great footage! My family went through some sruggles in the after math. Lets not forget no communications at all with anyone in Puerto Rico. That WAS SCARY!!
I have family in Yabucoa as well. Have not heard from them. My mother in law is elderly.
Guys... what kind of vehicle did you all go out in? An M1 tank!?
wondering that too... the wind almost flipped my parked car
True jajaja🇵🇷
@@StormChasingVideo What was the lowest pressure reading that you measured?
After 9 months this is the first time that I have access to normal speed internet. Watching what hurricane maria was. It was horrible to be there and not know what happened, I mean we were 2 weeks behind for newspapers even the radio stations didn't have information of what was happening in the island. That hurricane was a demon, the noise, we thought it was never going to stop. I experienced hurricanes before 4 hours of wind and rain and after that no power no water .... but this was something else. Afraid of not have food, water ,insulin, more medication for old parents conditions, family, friends, information, yes information we were like lost nobody knew where we were. 6 days already into the hurricane season... Please God not other Maria I am blessed but other still today suffer like the first day and many other lost love ones....
Maria was bad
@@toronpatterson6855 Maria wasvery good
Es hora de ayudar a nuestros hermanos puertoriqueños..vamos a ayudar a levantarlos..god bless PR.
you guys are brave and blessed to record and make it safe in a situation like this is a miracle
Maria was a monster storm. Stay 💪 p rico you will rebuild and prevail.
This is incredible. I living in Maunabo, Puerto Rico, where the Eye of Hurricane CAT 5 touchdown.
Wow you guys are seriously lucky ur OK. Jeesh. I love extreme weather but not sure I'd even have sat in a car during that lol.
Brian Patterson Staying in a car during a cat 4 hurricane equals a death wish. That was insane.

Yes they're idiot's and I feel no sympathy for them
I was standing at my window during teh hurricane and I watched my neighbors' houses literally explode into the wind.
Brian Patterson I remember that the hurricane was playing with cars with the strong winds. This must have been recorded either early in the storm or with the cars seriously prepared.
*I didn't had electricity for five months!*
Thanx 4 this very practical and informative video. Nature is sumthin' we kan't play with. 😔 God bless PR. The island and its people have stood up. Blessings.
The Hurricane season is back...and thousands of Puerto Rican families are still in the dark and homeless.
So far no hurricanes hit thank the lord
2018 spared Puerto Rico from hurricanes but not Florida and possibly 2019 as well
This was my worst experience ever in my life, so freaking insane
I watched this video for the first time....tonight..damn..I spent it with my wife , son ..and my three dogs ..it was pure terror of nothing I've ever witnessed in my life ...God bless us ..and the rest of the world..
That's crazy! I'd be freaking out if I were in that car, just hoping nothing flies and headed my way.
It's been almost nine months since the hurricane, yet for a lifelong resident like me it is still very hard for us to see these images. It is like being there, back in the day. Yet, hard as it is to see them, this is a testimonial of a very real and tragic event.
To those who still say we came off lightly, let me tell you - you do not know what you are talking about.
Thanks for being a little crazy! I was in Yabucoa in January and it is destroyed. People were still existing there and the clean up is slow. Going back in June to see how progress is.
Watching the video makes my heart race!! I live in the south part of the island. What I experienced when hurricane Georges hit PR in 1998 does not compare with this. It lasted almost an entire day! We were all at home asking to each other when is it going to leave!! Only a few days without running water and 33 days without electricity. I’m still on refugee mode, but all in all, okay. Thank goodness.

The best video 👌 Next time im going to do the same. Buen trabajo chicos
2020 I'm watching this and still feeling so so tense. Yabucoa was the entrance for Maria. I'm from the NorthWest. And that at the end was not wood panels, that was iron bars screwed to the concrete for security. 6 months without water, electricity, cellphones, food, gas. A flooded house, no cars, no job, no hospitals but with all my family around and well. As Nietzsche said; That which does not kill us makes us stronger. We pray and hope for the best to all American Fellows up in the North after the passing of Hurricane Laura.
Not the greatest idea to be outside in your car. You're lucky something didn't break the car's windows.
Man Great footages but crazy man. That place was like shooting gallery damm.
Thoughts and prayers from West Palm Beach FL

Two months later

My parents and I have no electricity for +110 Days in Maunabo. Thanks God, the Wright Tree Service of electricity company brought new poles and new cables, whole town of Maunabo has restored the electricity.
wow, great video
I'm glad you were safe
I remember the time my uncle carried me while he was walking me to a safe place hes now in heaven I feel very bad to those who lost or damaged their home bc of the hurricane
What kind of vehicle are these guys in? It seems to not move while the winds blow.
Puerto Rico se levanta
Wow. I am from Fajardo Puerto Rico I was not there for that huracan but wow that strong one. I remember the big one hugo I was there I was around 4 years old but I still remember that huracan
When the video starts its on the entrance where my grandmother lives
WOW guys that was intense i am from PR but never have that bad moment in my life to see how a huracan destroy a town or sad to said the island...
I live in Juana Díaz Puerto Rico and this is terrible
Will you come for hurricane dorian?
Our island.... destroyed.
Damn you guys moved right on time
Scary and impressive views!!!
.
I live there and he was very lucky....i saw turning cars, suv etc wooden roofs flying....
What were the peak gusts recorded?
Wow, i just got the chills...
That pressure reading says it all
And at the beginning, that's near were I'm at right now, at grandma's house which that day my mom, grandpa and grandma were there
Oh look my hometown getting destroyed....at that moment I was in my house with dad and couldn't sleep that whole night to day.
how are you guys still alive
I would had been freaking out sitting out there scary stuff to watch
Having live this. The men in that car had some balls of steal. I was inside the whole time it was scary.
Huracan Maria was not Categoria 5 at landfall in PR. It was Categoria 4........ this video title is not correct!
for only 1 mile is not cat. 5...1 mile per hour isnt a diference.
47 purrcent it had 155mph winds; (2 miles below category 5) 😱. With wind gusts over 200mph. In addition the higher is the altitude stronger the winds.
It is for record books. Natl Hurricane Centre said Categoria 4. Close to Categoria 5 is not Categoria 5.
None of this changes Natl Hurricane Centre verdict: Categoria 4 en Puerto Rico.
47 purrcent The instruments that measured the winds collapsed before landfall. Nobody knows now. But I believe it was 5 at landfall.
I can guarantee you... If you guys were to go up a little bit to the mountains, at least the ones on the 901 road to Maunabo, you'd been filming sideways! I'm amazed nothing happened to you guys!
Thank god my family is safe 😔🙏🏽🇵🇷.
GRACIAS!!

•Sigh• Looking back at this.. man.. I’ve lived some pretty insane stuff
Wow you spent the whole storm in the car
Ferocious winds
Wind sound was out of nightmares. I was there. Believe it.
My family is from their..some live there still
Maria was a C5 at landfall in Puerto Rico?! Wow…
🎶have you ever seen a tin roof go this way.. and that way...🎶

María Emilia Negrón: In some of the peak gusts. Sustained deep within Cat-4 range.

Only if they would've painted the shed blue
That's my town Yabucoa
