I totally get you feeling nervous sat next to Steve for an interview; but he is such a nice guy, he was aware of you feeling nervous I think and tried to make you feel welcome. Great interview too he enjoyed that you thought more of his answer and concept about onenote for 18 mins than "epic Via solo here " To my eyes, he was thinking "great this guy really gets it" I think you did better in this interview than you might think you did.

ok so i never reply on youtube comments but i think this time its worh it. The idea behind the 18 minutes sustained note is to be able to explore lots (not even all) of the characteristics a single note have. I didn't listen to his composition, but knowing mr.Vai The orchestra probably plays in every modes of that note (f#). Try it, put a sustained note of your choice on youtube or whatever and play all its modes. Ionian, dorian, phrygian, ect. You'll be surprised on how much a single note can affect the whole piece. Absolutely nothing to do with modern minimalist lol. Sorry for my bad english

saw Steve first show ever with Alcatrazz DeAnza Theater Riverside CA, 1984. They had just kicked out Yngwie whom we were expecting to see. Anyway even without Yngwie the show was still rocking, although he did struggle a bit playing Yngwie's parts in the songs and Steve's unaccompanied solo was a little lacking in variation... he played mostly funky wacka-wacka wah stuff and some two handed tapping... that was somewhat cool. But overall I think he tried his best and when they finished their set the audience was still continuously yelling out for Yngwie. I yelled for them to come back and do an encore but the Yngwie trolls won and the band just left. I really did like Steve's tone with the Carvin X100bs and that X2N pickup was loud too. I think he had that Frog JFET preamp in his sticker Strat at the gig or something

No, I have not released it yet. This summer (2020) I will be recoding perhaps 4 hours of my orchestral music. Some of it's pretty inside with songs you might know, but there are 3 large symphonic pieces that are as far away from anything of mine that you've heard, and we will be recording those too. One of them is "The Still Small Voice". I don't know when I'm going to get to release it all but when I do it will be under the "Sound Theories" moniker. Some of it's pretty out there. I can't help myself, nor do I try to, ha. Thanks to all you folks for chiming in here. Sometime I wonder who you are all talking about. You are very inspiring to me. Steve Vai.
