- This video is a one-take of how to design three different styles of signs in Illustrator for laser cutting. I know it goes pretty quick but I only had a short time to cram in as much as I could, so hopefully, you'll get one or two gems in this. I apologize for the screaming cats in the background - they honestly seem to wait until their yelling is most inconvenient to start. Some of the techniques quickly covered in this video include:
Offsetting a Path
Converting to Outlines & Uniting Shapes
The Glyph Panel
The Pathfinder Panel
Exporting for Screens
I've never watched an Illustrator tutorial before. You are such an amazing teacher!
Wow! I've been using Illustrator for YEEEEEAAAAARRRRSSS, and never paid one bit of attention to the glyphs panel. Anytime I needed to swap out a character, I would open Windows' Character Map, find the font I was looking for, then search through the characters to find one that worked. I can't believe that's been right under my nose the entire time. Thank you for that tip!
This was one of the best tutorials I have seen. Thank you so much for posting.
