I really wish more videos were from start to finish like this one! As a new GF owner, I just needed simple specifics and your video and follow up comments did that perfectly and simply! Thank you!! You now have a new subscriber :)
UPDATE: After filming this video I learned that it's easiest to make your cut lines RED and score lines BLUE. That way the Glowforge automatically organizes the file so that the cut lines are on the bottom. And the GF will score first and THEN cut. :)
Vic Tac Toe Hi there! I used your referral code because I too make earrings and I appreciate you sharing the tips on here to help those of us that are new to the machine.
@@lomoliving5528 I use a magenta color for engraving, but you can really use whatever color you want as long as it's different than your score and cut color! Scoring is much faster than engraving and scoring is just basically drawing on top of the wood where the engraving is cutting into the wood to engrave.
Love your videos! Can’t wait to see more. You do a much better job at explaining processes than other youtubers I’ve seen. I ordered my machine last night with your code 😄 Can’t wait to get it!
Thank you for your videos! Much more descriptive then most. The smallest details help greatly! I just purchased my Glowforge using your referral code. Thanks again for the videos!
This video was helpful. I appreciate being taken through every step from design to completion. Can't wait to see more! Also: have you considered making masking stencils to quickly paint your earrings?
I am waiting for my Glowforge to come in January. I am watching video after video and nobody is really talking about settings in the videos. After watching your videos ... I am not a "ruin product with trial and error" person. I would love a video or a tutorial about your cut and engrave settings! I would even pay ... maybe throw it up as a digital file in your ETSY store?!
Hi Lisa! I actually am working on some earring files to sell as digital downloads in my Etsy store, and they will have my settings included :) Here’s a link to the store I will be selling them in: www.etsy.com/shop/victactoedownloads
@@VicTacToe thats awesome I will watch for them. Have you found any tutorials online for suggested settings? Or did you just dive right in trial and error like?
Hi thank you so much fo sharing your process! I do have one question though, when drawing in Adobe illustrator were you working on one layer for each part of the design? Or multiple layers? (not including your background template)
You’re welcome! In illustrator I usually just work on one layer, and lock the other layers I’m not using so they don’t move around. Not sure if that’s technically the best way to do it, but it works for me! Haha
Hi! Didn’t see where you drew the hole for the jump ring. How do you know how big or small to draw your creation in procreate/size of jump ring hole so it comes out how you want it to when you use the glowforge? I’m trying to create 1” earrings but confused how to measure everything out
Hi there! I usually just do some trial and error until I get the right size for the jump ring thickness i'm using. This particular hole was .7" wide x .7" high for a 21 gauge jump ring.
Hi Monica! As long as you’re on Mac computers you will be able to export your file as a JPG and choose airdrop as an option. Here’s a video I found that goes into detail of how to airdrop! ruclips.net/video/KFwr0ZwYKSQ/видео.html
Because I paint my designs, I decided it was a waste of time and material to use tape, since you can't see it if the wood gets a little charred up anyway :)

What color should be used for engraving? And is there a reason up use score over engraving? Thanks!!

Printing them on paper before committing to a cut is such a great idea!
Thanks! I didn’t do that at first and I hated wasting material!

Thank you, so glad you found it useful!! I have not thought of masking stencils but that is an interesting idea!
When I click 'adjust artwork', to erase, crop or tune an image, there is no 'apply changes' button on my screen. How do I fix that?
Love the video, thank you. Are the settings descriptive as depth? Like if scoring was on a higher power, would it make it deeper?
Thanks so much :) I actually made a video that goes into depth on the settings: ruclips.net/video/FAh6wqGklyo/видео.html

very informative. just a quick question. Can I USE glowforge for designing texture sheet and polymer clay cutters?
Thx for the video. My glowforge is out for delivery!!!! Used your code
Thank you so much, I appreciate it!! I hope you love your Glowforge 🙂
Gaging the size with a quick printout is a brutally good idea
Thanks! It has been a good way to avoid wasting materials 🙂
Hello. What glue do you use to use metal post to the acrylic or do you? Thank you in advance!
Hi! I use "weld on" glue for acrylic! amzn.to/3y9aoeF
Hi, thanks for sharing this! It helped alot, im also wondering is there a way you know of to copy/paste or duplicate a design you made on adobe?
Hi! You can select an object and hold down option to copy it or the good old control c and control v to copy and paste!
Thanks! I honestly didn’t think you’d respond lol thanks for taking the time to respond to the comments
Of course! 🙂
Great Video! So from my understanding you can’t print from your phone? You have to use a Pc? If so does it matter what type?
You can print from your phone actually! I talk about the specs a bit in my review video 😊

Hello i am new to gf and wanted to know how you figure out the settings if you are making it for your own designs?
Hi! It’s basically just trial and error. However, If you are using Glowforge material you can use the proofgrade settings.
What pen are you using in procreate?
I use the Colorado brush pack from creative market :)
Here's the link to those:

Really helped; thanks!
So glad it was helpful :)
Hi, I want to see more designs of Glowforge
I’m working on a new design video that will be out soon!
How do I airdrop to my laptop?? Im confused!!

Great video! Can you save the file as SVG in Procreate?
Thank you! Unfortunately you can’t. Procreate files are raster-based vs a program like Illustrator which is vector-based.
Wow awesome
Glad you liked! 😊
Why did you not use the tape?
Because I paint my designs, I decided it was a waste of time and material to use tape, since you can't see it if the wood gets a little charred up anyway :)
Does your reference code still work!? I'm about to buy one lol
Hi Yany! Yes, you can use my code from purchasing your Glowforge through this link:

I find most people speed up the video while the GF is doing its thing. Was the cutting/scoring played at normal speed in this video?
Hi! Yes, I sped up the video when it is cutting and scoring :)
