Can you imagine what Scotland would have been llike now if the SNP had never been heard of? An absolute dream in relative terms to what we have now, and that's a certainty!
Glen Sannox’ route from Troon to Brodick is longer than Ardrossan to Brodick, so she can manage only 3 return journeys a day instead of Caledonian Isles 5. Glen Sannox’ passenger capacity had to be cut from 1,000 to 852 because CMAL was given a mistaken design by Wärtsilä, the engine manufacturer. So daily capacity has fallen from 5x2x1000=10,000 to 3x2x852=4,812. CMAL says they can still achieve all they wanted with Glen Sannox, so why did they procure such a large ship in the first place? And yes, CMAL asked the engine manufacturer they chose, without competition, to provide the ship design.
The SNP if they had used the vessel drawings from Noah’s Arc…the vessels would have been finished by now…this is an embarrassment for the once great shipbuilding on the Clyde..
I live on the western Isles Cal Mac are complete joke and God forbid there is a slight breeze all sailings cancelled or a bit of fog or a ripple in the water
Just a query with regards the cancellations ...... if you check the Cal Mac web site.... are the cancellations there ? When I was at Wemyss Bay, the Ferry notice board said a sailing was cancelled, IT problem, next ferry was in an hour, yet when I checked Cal Mac site, even 2 days later, it reported no cancellations at all. 100% sailings .
@markleeming1786 there is a calmac app pick your route and it will tell you status of sailing or any problems, green ok, amber possible disruption, red cancelled
Whoever named these white elephants must have a sense of humour. One sounds like something you take for bunged up sinuses (Glen SINEX) and the other sounds like a cough remedy (Del Rosa)😁😁😁😁
If I was an SNP Minister or an enthusiastic supporter I would take a million photos of the ferry, talk to anyone and everyone who shows the slightest positive interest in it and pay the MSM to report the "massive" success of it. Because, let's face it, this could all turn to sh*t again in the blink of an eye.
There has been a ferry sitting idle in Douglas IoM for over a year now. The Ben-My-Chree bigger, faster and more capacity than anything Caledonian MacBraynless have got. Reason? The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company bought a new ferry from a Korean yard for £76m, again bigger, faster and more capacity than anything Caledonian MacBrayneless have, and she came into service just over a year ago, on time and on budget. IoM SPC still use the Ben on the Heysham Douglas service every so often to keep her serviceable. The new Arran ferry came onto the route yesterday, but it is too big to use the normal mainland port, Ardrossan, so MacBrayneless is having to pay to useTroon instead. Result? Fewer sailings per day to and from Arran. MacBrayneless have leased Pentland Ferries MV Alfred to supplement on the route, but because of berthing kit going out of action at Ardrossan it can only use Troon. Last admitted cost of the lease of the Alfred was £1m per month!
Almost as bad as Chris Graylings ferry adventure. Gives taxpayer money to run ferries to a company . With no ferries No experience of running ferries. The harbour they planned to sail into wasn't deep enough to take the ferries they hadn't got .😬🤣🤣🤣
Those big cargo ships burn heavy bunker fuel which is like tar and has to heated to get it to flow and be fluid enough to be injected, they typically burn 100/150 tonnes per day under power. So getting gas on a boat from Qatar is the height of environmental and economic lunacy when the damn stuff is available off the coast of Scotland.
they built it without a plan the concept was, we need a ferry and build one please no concept plan ,we have a plan of a vessel and we will adapt it as we build for your use that was the idea according to the CEO of the ferry owners he said that on radio scotland, when interviewed about the costs and time taken to build them
All the parts on the Sannox that had to be replaced, were these new unused parts " made in Scotland" ? All through this fiasco , especially about parts being replaced, surely those parts should have a guarantee. If I bought an anchor for the boat and it failed, I would be requesting a brand new replacement. I would not be going down the river to take one off another boat ! The sturgeons boat yard will get the contract for the next lot of ferries, I believe the snp have asked the Turkey yard to delay the building of their ferries, so that the Sannox can be sailing and the sturgeon yard offered the new contract. How come no SMP's are asking how it is going in Turkey ?
Mr Fox. There isn't a diesel engine and a LNG engine. The main engines are dual-fuel, not 2 different types of engines. They are designed to be able to run on either type of fuel. The problem is the LNG fuel system, not the engines

Shock! Ship of doom
The scotts used to be able to build ocean liners , this is embarrasing.
i bet Reeves is running the accounts
Work in the industry. Nightmare getting spare parts the past few years. Very expensive also

Its a joke ' they could not take a dog for a walk
I live on the western Isles Cal Mac are complete joke and God forbid there is a slight breeze all sailings cancelled or a bit of fog or a ripple in the water
The older ferries were much better. Could sail in most weather
They are aptly named 'The Pirates of the Western Isles'.

I should imagine Glen Sannox will be due for a refit soon...
It would not surprise me if we found out that workers from the sturgeon yard are still working aboard the Sannox
The Clyde, such a proud history ruined, I doubt if another ship will be built there. So much for the SNP and independence
Glen Rosa August 2026 at the earliest, I have a friend working at the yard , it was stripped of parts for Glen Sannox.
Just like the parliament building was supposed to cost 40 Mill, ended up costing 400million ,someone sawed it off
What is the update regarding the ones being built in Turkey?
Whoever named these white elephants must have a sense of humour. One sounds like something you take for bunged up sinuses (Glen SINEX) and the other sounds like a cough remedy (Del Rosa)😁😁😁😁
When all is this is done, I have a bet, that the total costs of the two ferries will be over £1 billion.
I will win the bet.
What do you mean "could"
How come the Germans con build massive cruise ships in a couple of years.
Could be corruption maybe 😂
No maybe about it.
Surely it would have been more cost effective to have scrapped both vessels and bought a couple of second hand vessels.

Where’s celine dion when you need her
Will there be an enquiry, the government spend most of their time and efforts on enquiries.

Half the mezzanine deck isn't working, it's a disgrace. it would've been cheaper to bridge or tunnel the crossing to Arran.

Micro managers that's what they're trying to be, but the millions over budget, that's a total joke, except it's not funny.
LNG liquid natural gas. Uk floats on it. 😂😂
Absolute joke how we been making ships for hundreds ov years an the Party make a complete hash of it like everything
In the past ships built on the clyde were said to be among the best you could get. So whats gone wrong? And how do you put things right?
Who is getting the back hander's
Yep, a classic money laundering exercise. Obscenely increased costs, with backhanders paid to those who authorised the unjustified increases.
Unbelievable? Not at all, golfers say Parr for the course
