- This only made it to the number 60 spot on the Country charts in 1973. Columbia Records probably had no interest in promoting the disc as Marty had upped sticks and moved on to MCA/Decca Records. It also charted for Claude King the same year and then later by Kenny Rogers. The song reached #1 in 1967 for Leon Ashley. The song, to my knowledge has never appeared on CD by Marty. I should imagine that this recording is not that well known, but nevertheless it's a great song sung by one of the greatest singers of all time.

Guess it goes to show money ain't everything.
where are u getting these songs. first u say its over and now this. what album are both of them from?
The first sing song you mentioned I believe is Some Memories Just Won't Die (that is a line from that song) originally released on the Come Back To Me and is the title of the posthumous album that came out shortly after he died.
As for Laura, the only album I have ever seen it on was an album called The Best Of Marty Robbins. My father had this album in the 1970s. It was a special release from Columbia Records (CSP--Columbia Special Products) imprint. The album has 20 songs on it. The picture on the front is Marty without his mustache wearing a purple shirt. The cover is kind of a caramel brown. It was also available by mail order off of tv. Hope that helps you out.
Come Back To Me can be found on cd as a 2 album on 1 cd package along with The Legend album.

I prefer Leon Ashley’s version of this song Marty is a great singer
All of my ex-boyfriends, guys I've rejected, and secret admirers listen to this song nonstop and think about me.
Very good one. I like this a lot, but I may prefer Kenny'd a little more. His voice just sounds a little more sinister.
tarquin i would like to invite u to be a friend but i am not sure how to do that. i am not very computer literate. can u help?
Lovelorn suicide. :(
I think you are right & I am wrong. I was thinking about suicide that night. Funny how we feel can color what we see.
+Judi was-here I had personally always thought it was about suicide
The lyric is ambiguous (probably deliberately) - when he sings "if there's time before I pull this trigger", he doesn't say whether he is pointing the gun at himself, or at his unfaithful wife, or even her new man (who might well be in the room too!). Or, he could be planning to take them both out, and then himself! Anyway, even though this came out in 1973, it's produced by Bob Johnston, who Marty was still working with up until the MY WOMAN, MY WOMAN, MY WIFE album, and it's probably an outtake from that album, his voice has that slightly heavier and wearier sound that he had after his heart attack. And as far as I can tell, this has never even been on an LP, let alone CD!
Terrible. Leon Ashley does this song so much better and I am a HUGE Robbins fane.
