I like this one, but it does feel a bit too upbeat for the grim events often discussed on the program. The new one does well in terms of mixing seriousness and intrigue.
I have got all the original recordings of Newshour, along with the BBC edits, they were not all found on the David Arnold Music website that had now been removed, I also have all those produced for The World Today. They were written by David Arnold and Paul Hart, along with other Misc. music produced for the BBC WS at that time as Master copies.
Sorry no, there were four master CDs including the edits used for broadcasts heard at the end of the programmes, CDs also included entire The World Today suite, all the incidental music found around the world all composed by David Arnold and Paul Hart.
They are three very distinctive voices. Julian still presents at least once a week, Lyse will randomly present every so often and Owen has filled in on rare occasions despite leaving. You can hear him on his weekly podcast 'The Future Of...“
Julian Marshal the news hour guru
Don't forget Marian Marshall too 🤣🤣
This was much better than their current theme. Pity they changed it
There was a much better theme than this in the early 90s on BBC World Radio. I miss it!
I think the new one is better. I'm more used to it. Also, the old theme is too loud.

This theme followed by Razia Iqbal's voice made my day.
I miss this theme
This is by far the best ever theme I ever heard BBC used. I felt bad when they replaced it with that theme with techno beats. Makes it sound off!
I always enjoyed Lyse Doucet presenting back then in mid 2000s.
Bring back this intro/bumper music BBC. (The current theme is soooo dull.)
I agree, the old one was great
@@tmsr Please post the new Newshour theme.
In fact, duller than dull 😑
This was the first theme I heard on that program when I came across it on an NPR channel some years ago.

Jack Sugden cool! Do you plan to upload the material?

And just found the David Lowe 2000-2018 versions of Newshour, so now over the moon 🌒 with the discovery.
Jack Sugden would appreciate it so much if you could upload them!
@@snufkin84 Wish I could, as so many tracks + some bbc edits used for closers - sorry.
WHAT A MASTERPIECE!
Oh I miss the voices of Owen Bennett Jones, Julian Marshall, and Lyse Doucet.

@@tmsr Absolutely. Nonetheless, I miss them.
This sounds like B.J. Leiderman.
Much better than the insipid current one
Please can you also upload BBC World Today theme song song from the BBC World Service?
Where do I find the current BBC newshour theme.
not sure, I only found the old one through David Arnold Music
