Many fans and professionals musicians have had a hard time describing what Angelina does when she sings a song. From what I can gather from all of the different comments is that she is a great storyteller who knows how to pull the emotions and feelings from a song. With Angelina, it's the lyrics that have the emphasis of importance and not the music being played....

There are several versions: lyrics only, music video & live in studio. I highly recommend the live in studio version. Angelina had written this song in honor of her grandfather who had passed. And after watching that version, you might also enjoy her 2022 live in concert: "Angelina Jordan - Million Miles: Live at Kongsberg 2022".

Her incredible and well crafted vocal dexterity creates a beautiful complexity in her vocal renditions that I find comparable only to multi-performer instrumentals (and they literally cannot form words to also tell a story).
Welling up at a Angelina Jordan performance is a common physical response. Music fans love Adele, she's an obvious talent, singer songwriter. With all the mediocre music coming from the pop princess that dominate the music industry, Adele rose far above them in voice and content. To me, Adele, with her similar and soulful voice filled the void and helped heal the sorrow of Amy Winehouse passing. With that being said, Adele has physical limitations to her voice as beautiful as it is. Angelina has very rare vocal abilities. A tone that can't be compared to anyone, skill to create a wide variety of textures and sounds, a musical intellect and knowledge of artist and songs of the past and how to learn from and honor them. Angelina is also humble of and about her singing abilities, I believe she recognizes her prodigy and genius as a blessing and the responsibleties that goes along with it. Angelina wants to sing for the world, to bring comfort and joy to the people of the planet.

I love Adele, too, and it’s no disrespect to say that I like Angelina’s version more. I think this song in particular shows the incredible range of vocal tools that Angelina so effortlessly can use to make a song her own. You touched on the sad lyrics. Adele writes beautiful songs, but her melancholy, personal lyrics fall right into Angelina’s wheelhouse. She has a special talent (among all the others) of making us feel the melancholy. I realized Angelina was the best singer I ever heard when I watched her acoustic cover of Adele’s A Million Years Ago. It’s Angelina at 12, with just a guitar backing her in an impromptu session, but it’s extraordinary that a child can have such incredible talent and the maturity to make us feel every word. When Adele sings her song, you feel her pain. When Angelina sings it, we understand how the melancholy and missed opportunities of life apply to us. Adele is one of my favorite artists. A side-by-side performance mashup was made of these two that drew out similarities and differences between them. Overall, Angelina took the song and projected far much much more than Adele. I agree wholeheartedly, Angelina does not disappoint.
I think I understand why these lyrics were so meaningful to Angelina and why she covered it so quickly after it's release. In her origional song shield she wrote 'forgive me me for what I am'. Angelina has made it clear on multiple occasions that she is grateful for the love and protection of her family. Grateful for and aware of sacrifices that were made. I can imagine her singing this to her younger sister who's life was uprooted so Angelina could movevto America for her career.
The Adele version is still played several times a day where we live, and it is a very good rendition. Saying that I add my take on this AJ version. Angelina not only sings she is also a transmitter of specific emotions that go far beyond the words and directly into our senses creating a variety of responses from a large number of listeners. That special quality to her voice can be heard in her NGT tryouts and winning performances as well as even earlier. There is child's voice (it is there) but then there is the penetrating part to her voice that listeners FEEL, making the audiences stare with their mouths open as the emotion over powers the lyrics. I love the Adele version HOWEVER when I hear Angelina's take on it I also well up and have a true physiological response no matter how many times I hear it. This is true of almost all her performances and that goes for simple acoustic performances to full blown studio productions, so this effect is not mechanically produced but rather is hers and hers alone at this time. I think back to many of Linda Ronstadt's performances and draw some parallels.
Adele has been one of my favorite vocalists for years. Then I discovered Angelina, and now there are vocalists, like Adele, who I can let play; and there is The One favorite vocalist, Angelina, who I seek daily. When one reactor mentioned they typically show the original before the cover but ‘Easy On Me’ was so familiar they would not show Adele, that is when I paused their reaction and searched for the original. When Adele started singing, I had tears because I could not hear Angelina’s voice!
There was a little Q and A session with Angelina and her unbelievably impressive backup band during her livestreamed Christmas concert in 2021, and Angelina admitted that among contemporary artists, Adele is probably her biggest influence right now. Angelina is a big, big Adele fan! I think that she appreciates that Adele doesn't write or sing simple, easy songs, either with the emotional complexity of the story of the song, or in the technical vocal aspects of the melody and lyrics combined. Angelina did this cover less than a week after Adele made the original release, implying that there was probably a connection, maybe it’s through Republic Records, I think Adele is somewhere under Universal Music Group and so is Republic Records, but Republic Records handles more jazz, R&B and Blues including Motown.

I've been a fan of Adele since the early days, bought her first two albums, and I'm a Londoner and Brit just like she is. This is a great song by Adele, and she sings it very well. Even so, I have to say that these lyrics can be interpreted to have a particular poignancy for Angelina, which is why she released this cover so soon after Adele's release. Adele sings her own song well; Angelina just takes it to another level. Astonishingly, Malaysian singer Aina Abdul technically sings it better even than Angelina. Nonetheless, AJ's version is the one I prefer, and will continue to listen to. She has become my favourite vocalist of all time.

@@dojoswitzer I doubt there is really an answer to that. They are all perfect I'd imagine. Not knowing the Malaysian singer's. For my comparison I would say Angelina's is more difficult, more interesting and more of my tastes. Relating the story to her as opposed to Adele explanation is a better story as well. Angelina's feels more like a vulnerable request than Adele's more strong acceptance and moving on from feel. But technically better? No I assume the OP means maybe more difficulty. Because perfect vs. Perfect vs. Perfect would be what this is technically.
I loved your reaction and I do believe you will confirm Angelina’s song is very similar to the Adele’s song bit it’s in the details to enjoy the nuances of Angelina.
Adele is without doubt one of the best singers of the past 30 years, and Angelina in my opinion is at a minimum parallel, but with the future truly in front of her.
Angelina's take was released less than a week after I first heard Adele's original. I doubt Adele will ever do a duet, but I do hope Adele continues to write songs Angelina can perform. :)
One need only view vocal expert analyzer's in depth comparison of both artists doing this song to see for yourself how much more feeling is brought forth by a true jazz singer (Angelina) versus a non-jazz singer like Adele. Angelina uses the 'breathy', 'whisper-like' nuances that she learned from Billie Holiday and Mr. Grussl also points out an amazing fact. Angelina actually 'out belts' Adele in the power section of the song, even though experts claim that her lungs won't be fully developed until she reaches her mid 20's. It is mind boggling when you realize we are talking about Adele vs Angelina.

Adele wrote the song with its producer, Greg Kurstin, and it is about a broken marriage and a mother trying to explain to her son why it is happening. You have to ask yourself how a 15-year-old Angelina Jordan could do this song justice and give it the emotion it deserves? Here again, AJ takes on the impossible and makes it a classic as she always does. Every time this girl opens her mouth and those ethereal sounds come rolling out, I lose my breath, and the tears appear. There is no one else on earth that moves me like AJ, and at 75 I have experienced the best the industry has to offer.

I honestly think this was better than Adele's studio version. However, I saw Adele sing this live at a music awards show and may have took the song back from AJ. Both are great but kudos to Adele for making this song in the first place. AJ is set to release her first album with her record label this year. The same age as Adele's first. It will be the first proper comparison between the two.
Adele first album 19 was released when she was 19 years old and produced/recorded probably at age 18. AJ album will drop this year but she said she is being working on it for a long time which means since 2022 (age 16)

I'm an Adele fan and she sings this song beautifully, but Angelina's version adds so much more artistic nuance. No disrespect to Adele but this was sheer perfection.
Many fans and professionals musicians have had a hard time describing what Angelina does when she sings a song. From what I can gather from all of the different comments is that she is a great storyteller who knows how to pull the emotions and feelings from a song. With Angelina, it's the lyrics that have the emphasis of importance and not the music being played....

There are several versions: lyrics only, music video & live in studio. I highly recommend the live in studio version. Angelina had written this song in honor of her grandfather who had passed. And after watching that version, you might also enjoy her 2022 live in concert: "Angelina Jordan - Million Miles: Live at Kongsberg 2022".

Welling up at a Angelina Jordan performance is a common physical response. Music fans love Adele, she's an obvious talent, singer songwriter. With all the mediocre music coming from the pop princess that dominate the music industry, Adele rose far above them in voice and content. To me, Adele, with her similar and soulful voice filled the void and helped heal the sorrow of Amy Winehouse passing. With that being said, Adele has physical limitations to her voice as beautiful as it is. Angelina has very rare vocal abilities. A tone that can't be compared to anyone, skill to create a wide variety of textures and sounds, a musical intellect and knowledge of artist and songs of the past and how to learn from and honor them. Angelina is also humble of and about her singing abilities, I believe she recognizes her prodigy and genius as a blessing and the responsibleties that goes along with it. Angelina wants to sing for the world, to bring comfort and joy to the people of the planet.

I love Adele, too, and it’s no disrespect to say that I like Angelina’s version more. I think this song in particular shows the incredible range of vocal tools that Angelina so effortlessly can use to make a song her own. You touched on the sad lyrics. Adele writes beautiful songs, but her melancholy, personal lyrics fall right into Angelina’s wheelhouse. She has a special talent (among all the others) of making us feel the melancholy.
I realized Angelina was the best singer I ever heard when I watched her acoustic cover of Adele’s A Million Years Ago. It’s Angelina at 12, with just a guitar backing her in an impromptu session, but it’s extraordinary that a child can have such incredible talent and the maturity to make us feel every word. Since you like Adele you may want to check out her cover of "All I Ask" also from Adele which believe it or not is even better than what you just watched. Also don't be afraid to say that she sings a song better than the original because that's a common thing for her to do ❤
Adele is one of my favorite artists. A side-by-side performance mashup was made of these two that drew out similarities and differences between them. Overall, Angelina took the song and projected far much much more than Adele.
I agree wholeheartedly, Angelina does not disappoint.
I think I understand why these lyrics were so meaningful to Angelina and why she covered it so quickly after it's release. In her origional song shield she wrote 'forgive me me for what I am'. Angelina has made it clear on multiple occasions that she is grateful for the love and protection of her family. Grateful for and aware of sacrifices that were made. I can imagine her singing this to her younger sister who's life was uprooted so Angelina could movevto America for her career.
The Adele version is still played several times a day where we live, and it is a very good rendition. Saying that I add my take on this AJ version. Angelina not only sings she is also a transmitter of specific emotions that go far beyond the words and directly into our senses creating a variety of responses from a large number of listeners. That special quality to her voice can be heard in her NGT tryouts and winning performances as well as even earlier. There is child's voice (it is there) but then there is the penetrating part to her voice that listeners FEEL, making the audiences stare with their mouths open as the emotion over powers the lyrics.
I love the Adele version HOWEVER when I hear Angelina's take on it I also well up and have a true physiological response no matter how many times I hear it. This is true of almost all her performances and that goes for simple acoustic performances to full blown studio productions, so this effect is not mechanically produced but rather is hers and hers alone at this time.
I think back to many of Linda Ronstadt's performances and draw some parallels.
Adele has been one of my favorite vocalists for years. Then I discovered Angelina, and now there are vocalists, like Adele, who I can let play; and there is The One favorite vocalist, Angelina, who I seek daily.
When one reactor mentioned they typically show the original before the cover but ‘Easy On Me’ was so familiar they would not show Adele, that is when I paused their reaction and searched for the original. When Adele started singing, I had tears because I could not hear Angelina’s voice!
There was a little Q and A session with Angelina and her unbelievably impressive backup band during her livestreamed Christmas concert in 2021, and Angelina admitted that among contemporary artists, Adele is probably her biggest influence right now. Angelina is a big, big Adele fan! I think that she appreciates that Adele doesn't write or sing simple, easy songs, either with the emotional complexity of the story of the song, or in the technical vocal aspects of the melody and lyrics combined. I had not heard of Adelle before hearing Angelina's cover. Angelina does indeed blow her out of the water.
I've been a fan of Adele since the early days, bought her first two albums, and I'm a Londoner and Brit just like she is. This is a great song by Adele, and she sings it very well. Even so, I have to say that these lyrics can be interpreted to have a particular poignancy for Angelina, which is why she released this cover so soon after Adele's release. Adele sings her own song well; Angelina just takes it to another level. Astonishingly, Malaysian singer Aina Abdul technically sings it better even than Angelina. Nonetheless, AJ's version is the one I prefer, and will continue to listen to. She has become my favourite vocalist of all time.
What would you say is technically better about the other rendition?
In ‘Easy On Me’ Adele’s notes are squared off and clearly separated from one another, while Angelina’s are smooth and flowing.
A reactor vocal coach also pointed out that Angelina puts emphasis on more meaningful words in this lyrics than Adele.
@@dojoswitzer I doubt there is really an answer to that. They are all perfect I'd imagine. Not knowing the Malaysian singer's. For my comparison I would say Angelina's is more difficult, more interesting and more of my tastes. Relating the story to her as opposed to Adele explanation is a better story as well. Angelina's feels more like a vulnerable request than Adele's more strong acceptance and moving on from feel.
But technically better? No I assume the OP means maybe more difficulty. Because perfect vs. Perfect vs. Perfect would be what this is technically.

I loved your reaction and I do believe you will confirm Angelina’s song is very similar to the Adele’s song bit it’s in the details to enjoy the nuances of Angelina.
Once Angelina chooses to cover a song she sprinkles her angel dust on them and then takes ownership of them.
Adele is without doubt one of the best singers of the past 30 years, and Angelina in my opinion is at a minimum parallel, but with the future truly in front of her.

true jazz singer (Angelina) versus a non-jazz singer like Adele. Angelina uses the
'breathy', 'whisper-like' nuances that she learned from Billie Holiday and Mr. Grussl
also points out an amazing fact. Angelina actually 'out belts' Adele in the power
section of the song, even though experts claim that her lungs won't be fully developed
until she reaches her mid 20's. It is mind boggling when you realize we are talking

Both Angelina Jordan and Adele are under the Republic Records umbrella, 12 hours after Adele released "Easy On Me," this video was dropped on the internet by AJ, and Adele has seen it. Adele wrote the song with its producer, Greg Kurstin, and it is about a broken marriage and a mother trying to explain to her son why it is happening. You have to ask yourself how a 15-year-old Angelina Jordan could do this song justice and give it the emotion it deserves? Here again, AJ takes on the impossible and makes it a classic as she always does.
Every time this girl opens her mouth and those ethereal sounds come rolling out, I lose my breath, and the tears appear. There is no one else on earth that moves me like AJ, and at 75 I have experienced the best the industry has to offer.

I honestly think this was better than Adele's studio version. However, I saw Adele sing this live at a music awards show and may have took the song back from AJ. Both are great but kudos to Adele for making this song in the first place. AJ is set to release her first album with her record label this year. The same age as Adele's first. Both Adele and Angelina sing this song beautifully. Anyone can prefer one version or the other. It really doesn't matter, or make one person right or anther wrong. The two are really very similar and the differences in interpretation are really subtle and easy to miss if you don't listen closely.

I absolutely love Adele,to a point where i cant pick between theese 2. But im sure Adele would tear up if she heard this.
