This is a first exposure for many people in the US. It was the first time I had ever heard her and I knew it was something special.
The judges heard her as a 7/8 maybe 9 or even 10 yr old but not as a 13 yr old. There's a certain amount of maturity that happened between those yrs and also an unpredictable arrangement that blows the guessing game. She is also from Norway and got famous in Norway so I'm pretty sure that most of the American audience was unaware of who she was before than. This performance was my first seeing her and she blew me away with that breathy, bluesy, soulful and jazzy style vocals to a well known song by Queens, I mean, what? I felt it so deep down in the core that brought tears to my eyes. Amazing young lady.

Great reaction, Jennifer, and great to see you back with Angelina! Angelina was 13 years old here, performing in a suit she had made together with her grandmother, Mery Zamani. Mery was considered a child prodigy herself, in Iran. She excelled in writing and painting.She is Angelina's maternal grandmother. Mery went to Japan to study art, and she met her husband there. He was Japanese. They had Angelina's mother, Sara, and both Sara, Angelina, and Angelina's uncle (Sara's brother) speak Norwegian, English, Farsi and Japanese. Angelina's uncle is Michael Astar (Angelina's full name is Angelina Jordan Astar) and he is also her manager. Mery Zamani also illustrated Angelina's book "Mellom To Hjerter" (Between Two Hearts), which Angelina released when she was 9 years old. That made her Norway's youngest published author. In the book she tells the story about her encounter with an orphan girl on the streets in The Middle East, and the reason why she ALWAYS performs barefoot. She also performed barefoot here, on America's Got Talent The Champions. She received the golden buzzer for her performance, sending her straight to the finals. The remaining members of Queen were so impressed by her rendition (it was her own arrangement) that they pinned her performance on their socials, saying" WOW! What a rendition! "

Angelina lost her Japanese grandfather when she was 13, and she wrote a song called "Million Miles", dedicated to him. Angelina signed with Republic Records in 2020, and "Million Miles" was her first original song after the signing. The song is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, and I would love if you could react to it. There are at least 4 different videos of million Miles. The first one is a sound track of the song with her and band but the picture is a story song with words over a painting by Angelina and her famous Grandmother. The b/w video is live with just a piano and cello. The third video is the official one with the same sound track as the first, but with live scenes that Angelina actually drew up before hand. The fourth one is her live in concert performance last July in Norway with a 4 man combo and much slower with two primal cries that my watery eyes can’t handle! I watch every one of these and they are all beautiful.

Of course the judges would of definitely heard her sing thru a range of her ages, also this is a champions competition because she won the Norway's Got Talent when she was 7 years old , but this is most probably the first time they have heard her as a 13 year old and the first time they have heard her sing this song and this arrangement so the reactions of the judges would of been real and sincere with no acting! you sound very jaded about AGT & Simon & that's your prerogative, for me personally I have been watching & listening to Angelina since she was 7 years old but this contest was the first time i had heard her sing this song and it made me cry it got to me so much, she is an amazing world talent & I think your jaded comments about the judges and even the audience were totally uncalled for, the praise for Angelina was at least spot on of course so thanks for that.
You are so right that everybody knew about Angelina before. Her Uncle/Manager, Michael Astar, said in an interview that Simon (AGT) had been trying to get her on the show for a couple of years, but they wouldn't sign the usual contract because you give up some control. Finally, AGT offered a special contract that give them no control over her career.
I like that she picked up on Heidi as well, so did I. Yeah an amazing performance, an amazing start to it, absolutely bonkers. But Heidi was clearly already balls deep in love by then, a massive fan. Bet she even had dibs on the buzzer. Reality shows being molded in certain ways isn't a bad thing at all. Like say if Angelina finished 6th in order to be showcased, but not catapulted to a Vegas stage or something. Maybe that's not a bad thing to make happen, good for all involved, if reality shows are molded in ways that are good for the people in it, when it makes sense, then good.
There is clearly something lost in translation here. AGT does not have contracts, so it is not clear what her uncle may have been referring to. Performers sign an NDA and agree to 2-3 nights of performances in Vegas if they win (which did not apply to AGT Champions anyway). AGT also controls licensing and use of their videos. That is the extent of it.
@@Erfedwe someone told me that. But about champions. Which made me think. But I mean people say a lot of things, like me, I know. But since the entire point of the show was always a contract in Vegas, I mean it feels kinda odd to make up, doesn't feel like a lie, but also I'm unsure it makes any sense. I honestly thought the entire Idea was competing for a year long contract in Vegas when the show started. The NDA is a no brainer though, which is why all we have is speculation. To which all I know is she was there for the regular AGT right before that. And that negotiating could still be a thing in every way, like her getting her own version right, from queen, for that exact performance AGT could make a fuss over. So I don't know. If you have any answers or further context, the last guy did not, it could help clear things up.
@@Erfedwe With what you said, I mean without it adding up at all, it sounds like something AGT would put out there everytime someone questions results by proxy of contract negotiations. Which is whatever, fine. A reasonable source one could say. Like I said in this hypothetical case, and in others I'm sure, it's only good for all if at any point in any version of the show, contracts can't be reached and it effects results. Then people who get them, actually want them and they coincide with the show results. That being said maybe I was off on the entire premise of the show this entire time. I'm welcoming to it.
@@ryanjacob3338 the prize is NOT a contract in Vegas, it is that you get to headline a show for 3 nights. The winner usually performs along with a select few from the top 10. Also, there is no prize at all for Champions and All Stars, just bragging rights. The million dollar prize (awarded during the regular season) is $25K per year for 40 years, or a lump sum payout of about $300K. Queen gave Angelina the rights to release a recording of the song. That was between AJ and Queen. AGT was not involved. Also, I doubt the uncle was intentionally saying anything that was not true. My theory is that Simon or more likely someone who does scouting on another one of his shows (perhaps X Factor) may have made an offer. Or perhaps Simon tried to sign AJ directly to his label, but again, that was separate from AGT and the show would have had nothing to do with that. Simon only signed a very small number of people from AGT, so it seems like a very odd thing that he would hold a contract over her head to appear. It just doesn't add up at all.

This was the first time I ever saw her perform. Was absolutely blown away. Sent me in pursuit of all her early work. Have not been disappointed. You should watch the judges react to her. Good fun.

The suit features images drawn by her Grandma Mery, for a book written and published by Angelina when she was about 8 yo. Still not thoroughly impressed? The book tells the true story of how Angelina met a poor barefoot girl when she was 7, gave the girl her shoes and promised to always perform barefoot until all the children in the world have shoes. Wonderful and inspiring ❣️

Their surprise about THIS performance was genuine - it was a unique interpretation, never heard before. They were as surprised as you were, who also was aware of Angelina.
Here, At the age of 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, " Wow, what a rendition!" Not only that, but she received the copyrights for her version of this song from Queen, which makes it hers now. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity. I'd like to point out that, even though you had heard her before, you were also surprised and blown away. The judges reactions were authentic, and they truly recognized how great she is. Of course, Simon Corp couldn't let her win as she wouldn't sign wit his label , but it was a great showcase for her for the American audience.

You’ll see as you watch more Angelina that she has covered many of the best singers of the past 70-80 years. She takes on those great singers singing their best songs in six or seven musical genres. Adele, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Elton John, Billie Holiday, Elvis, Whitney, Michael, Frank Sinatra, Patsy Cline, James Brown, and many more. Angelina’s versions always respect the original and often pay homage to the original artist, but her versions never compete with the original. She not only has the best voice I’ve ever heard, but she is an incredible musician-giving you, like today, a completely different version of a song you revere. You can’t compare this to Freddie’s version because it’s uniquely Angelina’s, but you will remember hers.

Hi Jennifer, it's my guess that - whilst I agree that probably some of the judges had seen videos before of Angelina singing - I think that the reactions are pretty genuine. They did not know that she was going to start this song acapella, or how she had arranged it; they did not know the remarkable belt and fade into a melisma was coming in the middle; and there is a big difference between listening to a video, and seeing in front of your eyes someone deliver this performance, with this control and confidence, on stage.
I'm going to suggest that you take a step back in her age, before you leap forward again, and listen to an almost unknown song that is one of the hidden gems on the planet, a number one waiting to happen. Aged 10, listen to the leaked video of her performing "I'm Still Holding Out for You" by Baby Fuzz. AJ's performance is astonishing.
I don't think the audience had any idea what they were about to be witness to. This was the seminal event. She was not that well known on RUclips either. Anyway, they loved it, I loved it and, I think, you loved it. I appreciate you sticking with this not-a-child-anymore most extraordinary singer.

I don't know if already someone else wrote it here - of course Simon had heard Angelina before! AFAIK he tried for years to get her for AGT, but she/ her uncle/ her mother always declined to sign his standard contract. It was only after Simon gave in and accepted her terms (e.g. that she is not bound by contract for years) that she agreed to perform on AGT.
Not many unsigned singer would bear up so long 👍

Never was and never will be a performance like this on AGT. Simon already knew he couldn't sign Angelina so this was more of a guess star appearance. Her talent and skill was far superior to the usual acts on AGT. The tip of the iceberg, so so much more for you to experience.

I had seen Aurora on RUclips and CD many times but the impact of her live was something else.
She also got Heidi Klums golden buzzer sending her straight to the finals. This was AGT Champions, so winners of the Got Talent shows worldwide were invited to participate. There she did Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," which may have been before your time, but was a part of my teen years. I read below the fans filling you in on the suit, so I won't address it, but it is so cool. Grandma Mery also did the illustrations for Angelina's book that she published at age 9. She wrote a story based upon her memory and her journal entries from when she was 6 years old and had the encounter that inspired her to decide at age 6 that she would always perform barefoot. At 10 she produced several instant classics. Something clicked and she grew exponentially. Start with the rooftop version of Everytime We Say Goodbye as she stands right next to Ella in timbre, pitch, and placement of some long vowels. Angelina was not known in the US before AGT. Most of her videos on youtube were made in norwegian and no subtitles. I live in Sweden, and she was 12 years old when she performed in a swedish tv-show with her own song Shield. Before that I don't know if I heard about her.
She was not well known in the US before AGT. But some knew her. Like Rusty. AGT definitely made her more well known here. But still a long way to go before superstar status. Perhaps the forthcoming album. As far as her videos in Norwegian? She sings 99.8% of her songs in English. Yes interviews were generally in Norwegian but it seems subtitles have been added to many of them these days

Don't know if anybody else has mentioned that Queen liked her version so much that they shared the licensing for Bohemain Rhaposody with Angelina so she could record it.
The remaining members of Queen were so impressed with Angelina's performance they allowed her to copyright her version and it is available on several streaming services where she gets the royalties. Yes, I agree with you. My guess is the judges already had heard her sing at one time or another. BUT, and here is the big BUT, it did nothing at all to compromise there feelings going into the song, during the song, and after the song. You missed out on a wonderful opportunity to hear her speak at the beginning of the video. Anything that involves Angelina is something to be listened to because her humbleness, her humility and a variety of other precious qualities reach out and touch your heart. Her voice is unique (to say the least!!!), her artistry is well beyond her years and when you combine that with who she is as a person, kind, caring and a loving human being, is there any wonder why so many people around the world care so much about her?
No complaints about your editing during the video. But, when you find out more about her you'll understand what all the excitement is about. Take care.

@@peterhormell1511 Peter, our comments exhibit the influence Angelina has on us. We chose to be as nice as we can be and still get our point across. It's remarkable and we choose not to change anything about it. To know her love is in our hearts is very special and my hope is that someday everyone in the world will be able to experience the same feeling as we do.
My thoughts exactly.It's a way to get to know Angelina better.Also, if you cut that bit out, you are cutting out the build up.The song seems to start a bit too abruptly without the lead in, to me ,anyhow.

There is so much to love about this young lady, her many talents, besides her vocals, are boundless, she is the complete package and the real deal in all respects. Have seen one comment in other videos from a fan who claims that Angelina has never arranged a song... 😂😂. Apparently has never viewed any of her covers of songs I guess. Yes she is a gift. And keep in mind that English is not her first language. She is native Norwegian. And there is a back story why she performs barefoot. Also she arranges her own performances hence her making notes in the begining clip befor she performes. At 9 she is certianly a child prordigy. I do not know what world she came from but I am glad she decided to choose earth as her home. Respect

Angelina is participating in "AGT, The Champions".. as such, it included many countries.. part of the opening pkg, it was Heidi who interviewed her, she was impressed to hear AJ won the Norway competition @ the age of 7yrs old... It was Heidi who gave AJ the Golden Buzzer.. AJ did not win the competition, but she won BIGGER; her choice of MANY suitors and chose Republic Records.. BTW, I appreciate you honestly stated you were not a "mega fan" of Angelina; it's cool that you do these reactions FOR AJ's MEGA FANS... you got me curious though, of WHOM are you a Mega Fan?? (Happy You enjoyed her rendition.. as you already know, she does songs her way, while giving tribute to the original singers😉).

The suit was copy printed from a painting Angelina’s grandmother Mery Zamani had painted. The suit itself Angelina made. The arrangement of the song was done by Angelina. She has had input on all her arrangements from quite young as you saw in “I Put a Spell on You” the paper the fella was reading.
Queen loved this version of their song and has given Angelina permission to sing it at her concerts that she does.

The suit print is designed by her grand mother who is an artist. And it is said that she has sewn it herself. And it is also said that Queen appreciate her version so much that they have given her the rights to it. In the box with all the other songs she made hers. None remains the same.

the queen organization heard her saying this rendition they thanked her and gave her two thumbs up that I think a Norwegian girl, 45 years later for this rendition, they copy written, a song, AGT the champions had to take it off their face page because he got a couple written by Queen organization. I didn’t think her, but she did a fantastic job they got recognition from Queen organization.
You are right, but Angelina won Norways got talent when she had just turned 8. I also believe that Simon had tried to sign her but was declined by the family.
