This has to be proof of how far she has matured vocally since her younger child prodigy days. That breath control is her essence, as is her understanding and conveyance of emotion and meaning. Yes, “More, please.”

As I remember she did her TikTok version the same day Adele released it. You got to have some skills to do that.
Great reaction. The basic difference I find between the two renditions of this song is the emotional perspective. To me, Adele sounds like she is frustrated and explaining her actions to her son while Angelina sounds more like she is regretful of the way she handled the situation and is pleading with the child. I think this reflects how a child might wish their parent would respond to their pain.

Christi, thanks for another wonderful reaction to Angelina. The question you raised about how she can deliver so much emotion in the songs she sings and could not have faced the particular experiences in the song, I believe, is all about love. Love can be warm and beautiful but love can also be sad and heart wrenching. In each of the songs Angelina sings, regardless of the particular experience, she identifies the love in the experience and she feels it when she sings. Angelina is all about love and she is truly a messenger of love. That's why we never comment, "Oh, how can she sing about that?" The feelings of love that come from her voice are so genuine we know she is reacting to the song in a way that touches us deeply and we never doubt, for a second, it's a masquerade of sorts. It's real.

Wisdom. Wisdom is the word that comes closer than any other to describing the talent that lies behind all that tsunami of talent that is Angelina performing a song. No hype, no trying to break the speakers, no trying to find notes that don't exist on the keyboard. Simply the wisdom of approaching the heart of a song with respect and affection, defining the best way to express the emotions enclosed between the verses, relying on the vocal tools that she has developed and improved over the years. A masterful artist who is "satisfied" with touching the hearts of those of us who are lucky enough to hear the melodies that flow from hers. Christi, I think Angelina finds an emotional connection to every song through her own lived experience. It may not always be the connection that the original composer/singer had in mind, but AJ channels the original intent of the words and music into her own space, where she feels it and connects it with her own lived emotion. Like Adele, AJ has had to make significant decisions while she "was still a child" -- in terms of years on earth she IS still a child (Adele is thinking back to when she married at an early age -- and she was much older than AJ at the time). AJ was a national figure in Norway as a young child. You wonder how much she is expressing her recognition and understanding that she did not have a "normal" childhood -- not just because of the attention she received after she won Norway's Got Talent, but also because she is so set apart by her musical genius. And she is, absolutely, a musical genius.

One of the biggest things that separates Angelina from every singer I have listened to (including some of the greats like Adele), is her apparent connection to the lyrics she sings. Angelina never just sings a song. She tells us the story of the song. She adds in so many intricate details (some so subtle that they are almost imperceptible). She is able to add emotions through the use of sound in ways that I have never experienced with anyone else.

Yes, especially this. Both hallmarks of her maturation through the years, even though she's just ten, but you can hear her really stepping into her own.
Angelina Amaizing
Something I really love, she always uses her voice to amplify the message of the song. The phrase "Go easy on me" is a pleading, expressing vulnerability, so she sings it with that lovely whispery softness that conveys the some tone.
The emotional connection here could be her own child stardom. Though her family protected her from the worst, it probably takes a toll nevertheless with fewer carefree choices than otherwise. Anyway thanks for the reaction and indeed please more!
This is what I thought. When she sings the lyric about just being a child herself, etc... I wondered if she was remembering the decision to join a talent competition that would take her away from her childhood and into international stardom with all of its commitments and lack of carefree living....It's basically a choice to forfeit one's freedom & childhood.

Ma'am, your Angelina reactions are ALWAYS honest & heartfelt. You articulate what Angelina does to us through her music as closely as our limited language allows.. Emotional knowledge/connection comes from her heart, filled with love, for family, music and humanity. What moved a VERY young child to take the shoes off her feet and give them to another young girl, to engage with her, to recognize she wanted to effect change? It doesn't stop there, she gives/supports causes that have a direct, positive impact on the children of this world.. she doesn't have to sacrifice her life, from a very young age, she knew EXACTLY what she wants, the portfolio of music she's made her own is daunting at best. Love,... seeing turmoil in the world she covered MJ's Heal the World, and If You Believe... CARING, these qualities and the voice she has been gifted by the Creator are her personal goals . As always your unique perspective regarding Angelina's vocals is spot on! For me Adele's rendition is, as a personal experience, turned inward, and the emotions are somewhat muted and reflected inward. I would expect this. Angelina turns the lyrics inside out, exposing the emotions of the lyrics for all to feel and hear. Her soulful phrasing allows us to connect to these emotions more fully. Adele is a master of writing lyrics that reflect her personal experience, of that I have no doubt. Angelina has sung a number of Adele's songs, and the lyrics are very powerful emotionally. But Angelina always manages to release the emotions of the songs fully, to my great delight and enjoyment. To make this point more strongly, Angelina has released a number of short videos on TikTok using only a cellphone and some elementary backing. These short videos are very, very powerful. The best so far is an Adele song, Love is a Game. If you want to hear what Angelina is truly capable of, listen to this video...it will stun you like no other!
This comment makes sense as far as comparing the two versions to each other and explaining why you connected more to Angelina. I’m not saying I agree with you, but it makes more sense than saying that somehow Adele was robotic and crossing something off of her list… I mean this is her personal experience, of course she was feeling the emotion down and it’s not just a chore for her… Anyway, thank you for your well explained comment. I personally felt the emotions from Adele, and I think Angelina has a great rendition as well and did great things with her voice on the song. We can enjoy both.
@@Rosannasfriend I tend to agree that Adele sings with emotion, but I find her voice brassy throughout, whereas Angelina uses other voices, woodwinds, strings as well as the brass section. Re- listen to her with that thought, you may hear it.

I listened to Adele's version several times. She is a fantastic writer and has a beautiful voice as well technically skilled but I didn't connect to the song. To me she sounded very robotic as if it was another chore to do and cross off her list.
The first time I listened to Angelina singing this song, I was overwhelmed with emotions. I felt every word as she took me away on a journey to her world.
Maybe because I've been following her since the time that she was 7 years old and watched her progress from one level to another and I feel like a proud grandpa.
My eyes still tear up every time I listen to her.

Adele is excellent, but Angelinas singing goes right into your bone marrow.
Angelina will always be my favorite. But, the video version of Adele's performance doesn't really do her justice and there are a couple of live versions she has done that are much better and closer to gaining the emotional connection Angelina achieves so effortlessly. Adele sets the bar incredibly high. It's no wonder so many will prefer her versions of the songs she has written, to a cover by anyone.

I'm coming back all the time to listen to Angelina at all of her ages and covers.....esp. this one. Has she experienced the kind of love and heartache in life yet that an Adele has when she wrote these words? She has lost some close family members, but probably not experienced the full context of being in love and knowing that feeling. When she finally does, I think we will see an even more expressive and creative Angelina and cannot wait to see her potential blossom even more. We must all remind ourselves that she is only 18.......just think about that for a minute.
Hugs and good morning. I get the feeling, no pun intended, she is easily able to connect with the emotions expressed in this song, and possibly others songs, but especially this one. Though she's not experienced the situation referenced by Adele, Angelina has this dichotomy within her own personal life and this life this birth of who she is as an artist and a simple, beautiful, and loving person who loves to sing and make herself and us happy. Us adoring fans whose hearts she is so easily able to squeeze. And not because she sets out with conscious attention, but because it is who she is how her love of the music genre as if genetically imprinted on her soul that transcends itself seemingly effortlessly to us. In short her life as just a music loving young woman growing up with all the normality of someones daughter who has this talent this extraordinary ability to, again transcend the disconnect between her age and the soul of her musical love and it is on display for us. How lucky we all are. And just getting this out of my head, and heart, bring an early spring rain, so go easy on me.

More Angelina please! Thank you very much for your analysis of this performance. I find Adele's version sad, while Angelina's sounds more hopeful. Of course this makes perfect sense considering each artist's back story and how this song relates to it.
I'm not sure where Angelina goes (in her mind) that allows her to be able to convey the emotions that we all feel when she sings. From my perspective, I think she's just a great actor. She can be laughing the joking around, close her eyes and aim at the target, then deliver a performance that brings listeners to their knees. Then she smiles that happy, little girl smile, chuckles, and waves goodbye. Like a great actor, she can zero in on the role when she wants to. As the great Lawrence Olivier said to Dustin Hoffman (a renown "method" actor): "Why don't you just try acting, dear boy". And I believe Angelina has mastered that skill. And while she does that by just flipping the switch, she can sing (technical) pretty good too. LOL Great reaction/analysis Christi. You are my favorite reactor. Hi Christi, I awaited your reaction on this song! Don't worry about repeating the remarks and praise for Angelina's features! She is a genius always in positive transition. Better than yesterday ever. You are right about the style and dynamics of the use of consonants adopted by her, sometimes it impairs the diction at times but I believe it will define her style and mature her artistic characteristics, which already makes her unequaled by my taste. I'm starting to see her comparisons to other artists on the Internet. She really is unique!!

Best reaction of this song sung by Angelina Jordan. Adele wrote a beautiful song and it is all over the air waves as it should be and I never tire of hearing it. But my ears prefer Angelina's version. Far more soulfully sung by Angelina. She is so special and I'm always amazed at how humble and graceful she is.

Indeed, Angelina does have a sense of herself and this music wisdom she puts into her renditions. It's hard to fathom someone looking so sweet as her--you would never guess she is a musical genius-- started singing at age 1.5 and studied all the jazz greats at age 3 by watching youtube videos. I'm glad she insisted on having 100% artistic control with Republic Records and can't wait to see where her journey takes us all.

I promise you that if you react to her latest version of My Funny Valentine Feb 2022, you won’t be able to play it just once. She sang a version when she was 8 and 12 which are both great but this latest version shows you the woman’s voice that’s been in development the whole time. Amazing.

Your observations remind me of a connoisseur who explains the ingredients that make a dish great so that others can appreciate it even more. First off, Angelina being a true jazz singer, whereas Adele is not, makes her able to
permeate the human soul deeper. Add to this her 'chameleon' ability to include in
heartfelt ballads the nuance and inflections of not only Adele, but Billie Holiday's
'breathy' releases and the 'raw jazz' of Amy Winehouse. We wind up getting a four
pronged attack that just can't be matched by any one singer I've ever heard.

Angelina is wonderful. I've been following her since she was seven. Aurora is another singer/songwriter from Norway. You should look into her song "Lucky" from a live concert in Nidarosdomen. Or any song actually. They are all great.

Adele is one of the "greats" that has influence on her. Through this song she acknowledges and appreciates Adele therefore pays

I would appreciate your thoughts on my interpretation of how Angelina is interpreting the lyrics through her vocal phrasing and tones.
I hear Angelina emphasizing different lyric messages with her vocal stylings: "Baby, let me in" is stressed in a desperate and questioning tone,
"So go easy on me" is breathy, almost pleading, "But now I give up" is belted in exasperation, "So go EE,EE,EE,EE,EE,EE,EE,EE,EEsy on me, ahn me"
begins clear and sustaining while ending with a breathy, pleading quality, "I had good intentions and the highest hopes" is stressed as personal truths,
"But that probably doesn't even show" sounds like a question, "FEEEL the world around me" emphasizes how she connects with the world, "so go easy on me"
softly asks the listener for space and understanding. My theory is Angelina relates to the song not as an effort to describe a marriage/divorce story, rather thoughts about how a need to be music has forced decisions upon her before life gave her all of the information needed to make the commitment.
Upon hearing any song..........Most singers: "OK. Let's see if I can do this." AJ: "OK. Here's what I'm going to do with this."
I, like many of Angelina's fans, have been waiting for your reaction to this song. I have been looking every day, sometimes multiple times a day, to see you react to it. And here you are! You are probably one of 4 or 5 reactors that I look for every day with Angelina. I love your style. Thank you for making my day. I hope that you get to her new soundtrack cover of 'Mercy' that was just released. She is finally dipping her toes into Hollywood and hopefully many more things to come. We are lucky enough to watch a superstar in the making. That doesn't happen very often.
