For the first time in many years Strava introduced a feature that I actually wanted.
Hate dark mode
Lol for real
This is amazing. It's going to totally change the way i train. I can now see all the bad data i can't edit at bedtime.
Some form of accessibility would be nice too. Larger font sizes at least.
Look at our NEW dark mode…10 years after they removed it 🤦♀️ About time they brought it back!
Some more requests:
- Importing (and export) .gpx files into (from) the app without having to use the desktop website (komoot can do it...)
- Definitely better (retroactive) clean up leaderboards with AI, eg a lot of motorcyclists use the app to record their rides
- Auto-cropping rides of people who leave the recording running on the way home in their car (also retroactively clean up previous uploads) → I find these a lot on leaderboards and it sucks to have to flag them, when there is an actual ride achieved (btw manual flagging in the mobile app is also not possible, only via website)
- Ability to opt out of a segment or section during the ride without flagging your entire ride
- Public comment/discussion section on segments (let people give some hints about obstacles, dangers etc.)
Some cool ideas:
- You've hit the slowest time yet on a segment (with at least 3 previous attempts) → tomato smudge next to it
- Best efforts should include max gradient (over 50m, 100m etc) per ride and overall
- Best efforts could include your fastest max speed ever (probably not a good idea as it may encourage dangerous riding)
- viewing stats like speed etc on the navigation screen
- remove the buttons to switch between map types to a settings page
- remove the mapbox white burnin logo
- manually adjust depth of (auto?) dimming level
- battery life... I just did a short 20 minute test. my battery level dropped 9% that is scary fast for a 3 hour ride. (ios - low battery mode - all apps closed)
The update text says "it's been 84 years"... feels correct.
I'd like to complain about GPLama being stingy with his kudos!

I’d love to see (maybe it’s there already) a way to show segment times filtered to the bike you are riding. It would be great to see each individual segment PB’s etc for the different bike you are using in that segment.

An easier way to find your own routes on the maps tab would be nice. Their suggested routes when I open that tab are dangerous and basically useless. Can their suggested routes be turned off? Great video as always. BTW riding in 3.5 degrees here in Canada would be considered a fairly warm day. Today June 28th 2024 and 10C outside this morning in central Ontario. Summer was last week when we had 35c.

Need a triathlon activity summary with all activities and transitions combined into one. Garmin do this pretty well. Crazy this hasn't occurred on Strava yet!!! It needs to happen
Would be nice to have the option of wind direction in the appearance of the ride map. Temperature, power, heart rate etc are nice but wind would be a thing I believe. Green=tail wind, red = head wind and side wind could be orange
FINALLY! No more blind eyes when using the Strava at night.
The best thing about Strava adding dark mode is that everyone will shut up about Strava not having dark mode.
They need to give you the option to flag someone’s activity from within the app. Nothing more annoying than getting a dozen emails for lost KOMs when someone uses a car to record a “ride” and having no easy way to flag them as you only use the app.

Force close the app, update apps, reopen. See how that goes.

Dark mode is perfect to fit my mood after I scroll through my Strava feed in the evenings and see how much training my friends have done that while I’m at home not doing that 😂. Yay #depressivestrava
If you use your phone for navigation, then the dark mode map has better contrast.
Before I had a cycle computer, I really hated the thin white roads on a light grey background - it was very difficult to follow.

Can we assume that now dark mode is here that their dev team will go back to working on things no one wants? We are simply not used to Strava actually doing something their users asked for!

Strava dark mode for me has always been about making my rides private so my mates are not always aware of how much training i am doing.
They need to add Padel to sports to choose from

I'll try it out (phone default), but not sure if I'm going to be happy with those maps, there should be an option to keep the maps light always.

Can you get Strava to sort out Goals. For instance, the 'All Ride' goal does not include e-bike rides. This means I cannot collate all of my riding activities in one goal. Surely, if it's 'All Rides' it should include all riding?
Unfortunately, Strava doesn't seem to publish a full list of what all goal types includes. I would really like to see user defined the goals where one can select whatever activities one wants.

Most of the new features are mobile app only (like % ranking on KOMs, now dark mode...)
Your best bet is to find a user script/extension taking care of web dark mode or doing it yourself...
I want to search more granular like 15 days or custom date range.

Turned it straight back off here, and I normally use dark mode on apps, but found the contast with maps was horrible with a capital C
Still want selectable units per activity. So miles when I want it, kilometers when I don't. Yes, yes, I know everything should be metric and the UK, Aus, USA are luddites.

App consistency if nothing else. My LG fridge app had dark mode before Strava. 🤷🏻♂️
Now if Strava would allow us to disable this repetitive, annoying, patronizing, childish, congratulatory messages for EVERY SINGLE ACTIVITY.
