While we usually limit ourselves to factual historical episodes, we decided to give our historical take on the Sabaton song Metal Crüe, an ode to metal. Knowing that we can't possibly satisfy everyone and that we couldn't possible do justice to the rich history of Metal music and all those who influenced it, we did it anyway. Please accept Indy's subjective history of Metal, and feel free to share your own favourite legends from the history of Metal.
Cheers,
The Sabaton History team

Sabaton History love the humor in this video :)
No mention of Steppenwolf in the beginning. No mention of the biggest most well known heavy metal, hard rock, rock'n'roll and punk rock band ever and even did blues: MOTORHEAD! Lemmy is God and loved history. How did y'all forgot about Motorhead? Also black metal and Death metal are nothing alike and didn't come about at the same time. Not a bad overview but HOW DO YOU NOT MENTION MOTORHEAD? Praise be to Lemmy, Lemmy fucking speed!
Metal machine???
This is garbage... I tolerate Sabatons music, of which I think is just loud noise, b/c of the history being told... I can't watch this, have to give thumbs down, and seriously re-think my support for the channel
@@seanpoltzer1107 wtf..... Bro it's music chill out

Such a great episode! Please consider doing Metal Machine and Metal Ripper!
Metal CruEEeeEEEE. My man Indy should join Sabaton on stage once 😂
*NOCH EIN BIER!*
I've never laughed as much as when Indy asked if Joakim used the toilet paper afterwards
Mårtin “I have a phobia, a fear of [sniff] ah fuck!”
"combine two jobs" :D
You could watch as it clicked with Joakim and that's always a wonderful moment.
That moment absolutely killed me, I had to rewind the episode like twice. Joakim laughing made me laugh again then I had to rewind and heard someone in the background laughing and clapping.
I wouldn't mind one of these for Metal Machine or Metal Ripper.
or Man of War
Metal ripper > metal machine > metal crue
I wouldn't mind a Sabaton song about a skost. Or just Ferrus.
Flesh is weak
Don't touch his metal machine.
Not the episode we asked for but the one we all wanted deep inside.
I'm glad
Jay Tea this wasn’t the episode we needed, but the one we deserved
After watching the whole Great War series i just came back to an Indy who just said _"Are you ready to rock!?"_ This is fucking surreal and amazing.
This is modern music!
I quite liked the part at 0:56
What a special episode.
Remember, fellow metalheads, to be kind and to love all
I just want to know what went through Joakims head when he wrote the line "Come touch my metal machine!" :D
Probably the lyrics to Love Gun

And you even included an own song on the lyrics. Clever bastards.

What a luck my colleague went out for a break in the last 5 minutes of the video, because I was squeaking and crying of laughter in front of my screen. 😂
Not gonna lie, I wasn’t expecting Indy to ever talk about Uriah Heep and Bathory
Feeling left out, Mr. Lion? Jealous?
I think King Crimson deserved a mention, with 21st Century Schizoid Man and Larks’ Tongues In Aspic, Red.
I think that venom should've got a bigger mention they literally made 3 genres in 1 album
We already told you, this is a subjective not near to perfect history of metal. It's just too elaborate and . personal to get right for everyone
@@SabatonHistory Nobody stated otherwise, we're just sharing our opinion :).
Indy dropping down knowledge on the history of metal, not expected, but HELL YEAH!!!
🤘
lol
9:55: Nu metal is entering the mainstream, and Indy's cat is entering from the right.
I love the story of how Joakim just MacGyver'd this song together with what little resources he had. Amazing scene in my head imagining that.
This song made me imagine how would be a crossover betwen Sabaton and other bands, like the bands sings the parts of where they are mentioned. Maybe we could see any crossovers and collabs in the future.
I would love to see Sabaton with Armahda, maybe singing The Last Farewell or Sabaton with Iron Maiden singing Alexander The Great.
the noob gameplays id love to hear Joakim sing aces high, number of the beast!!!
Avantasia does just that all the time by using musicians from all over the metal map to come together and jam.
I’m thinking a song about the crusades with powerwolf and sabaton working together
I went through a pretty rough breakup last night, so something like this, something funny and wholesome and related to my favourite band was definitely something I needed. Thank you Sabaton History!
That's by far one of the best stories of how someone came up with a song. And the fact that it worked is rock solid testament to Joakim's genius as a song writer.
Best by the fact that it is by far the wierdest. Holy jeezes.
Metal machine paid homage to famous metal bands songs
Metal Crue was about Metal history and featured band names
Metal Ripper featured famous metal song Lyrics.
What if the Next song "Metal (Blank) " song was solely about sabatons history, its members and its fans. both a self tribute and a thank you to the fans.

BRING BACK METAL CRÜE TO THE CONCERT SETLIST!!!
Exactly it´s THE best song for closing a setlist. So much power and emotions. Please we need to hear it again
@@HajekOn Yes! That is it! This song is overloaded with energy!
Thobbe Englund was the only one who could do the scream so prolly not.
@@IronThunderLyrics the scream was done by Christian Erikson, Tommy is def able to pull it off too or he would not have replaced Christian for the Twilight Force tour after he left the band
Yaaaasss!!!! We should start a hashtag #MetalCrüeBack
One of my favorite Sabaton song was originally written on toilet paper...!?
THAT'S GREAT!
This is going to be fun to watch. First time was with Bloodbound in Luxembourgh on your last show of Heroes On Tour.
That was the twelth of March 2016. Three years. Damn, it goes fast.
Also guys. That cat was funny. 10:00. Plus, that's something new to learn on the song.
That pause when Everyone hears "I wrote that because I had to go to the bathroom!"
Indy doesn't even know where to begin after that.
I already knew the background of Metal Machine. But it's good fun to hear you talk about it.
I really like those songs, they mix the whole Sabaton experience up.
Also very glad that you did a Sabaton History on one of these, after all, it's Sabaton's history!
It is called 'Sabaton History' and not 'Sabaton War History' So there is that...
But I'm ok with this
I wonder if Sabaton is ever going to cover anything on the Three Kingdoms Era of Eastern China, that Era of history has always interested me.
Edit: Shoutout to the cat that just casually walks through the set at 9:57
Well, some of the songs this series has covered were inspired by emailed suggestions. If you send them a story and some non-wikipedia reference links in English or Swedish there's a decent chance they'll one day base a song on it.
@@nathanbrown8680 yeah, I'm gonna have a hard time unless i send them the Historical fiction "Romance of the Three Kingdoms"
I'm sure that on the list as a theme for an album.
That cat was so stealthy I bet it just invoked some elemental spirits or something.
@@Bazerald777 the plot twist here is that that cat has Francis Pegahmagabow's spirit in it.
The lyrics of "A Ghost in the Trenches" by Sabaton has "invoked the spirit of the wind" in it.

Joakim that is not a cliffhanger it is a dingleberry! ROSELAND in PORTLAND ON MONDAY NIGHT I..I I..I
2:55 Is that Indy's cat?
Metal crue is one of my favorite songs
The first time I went to the National WWI Museum in Kansas City (why are you not coming to KC???), I went into the sound booth where they played the "The Rite of Spring" by Stravinsky, and it hit me that was basically Metallica, 70 years before they existed.

Did anybody notice the cat under his chair? 2:46
Tommy Iommi and Steve Harris must be proud!
Well done!! Being 53 I can proudly say I was there to experience most of that. The first albums I ever bought were KISS, Led Zeppelin, Ted Nugent, and Alice Cooper.
For me personally, I consider there to be 12 main sub genres of Metal;
Black, Doom, [Extreme] Death, Folk, Gothic, Heavy, Industrial, [Melodic] Death, Power, Progressive, Symphonic and Thrash.
I don't consider Nü metal, Metalcore/Grindcore, Hard-Rock or Hair Metal to be Metal, but that's just my personal take. I don't care what you like as long as you're passionate about it, that's all that matters.
I'm imagining the sound engineers for that album coming forward and saying "of course we knew he was in there writing lyrics, but we're professionals so we just got on with the job"
Indy did a great job explaining Heavy Metal history
Thanks!

I wheezed so hard, can't believe the song was first written on toilet paper xD loved this episode!
Wow... the song that I found Sabaton through... found my favourite band... a song that was played endlessly in my house... all because Joakim didn't have his shit together...
Hey guys, nice video. Only you have included some wrong footage. Around 9minutes you show some fans rioting near the stage. This is not heavy metal (or metal at all) it is from the first Rolling Stones concert outside the UK. It is the Kurhaus show in 1964 in the Netherlands. Although not metal it does fit with the theme of the episode.
Such a fun episode! I LOVE it ❤❤❤
A lot of Sabaton's earlier songs are severely underrated. I love that they touched upon one of their firsts.
So, Metal Machine is basically Joakim coming up with a song with stolen lyrics from other songs while shitting?
nice cat vid ;)
I just have to shout out Christian Eriksson of the band Northtale. The guy who´s scream you hear in Metal Crue.
Indys face? That is the very definition of gobsmacked.
Denim! And Leather! Brought us all together! 🤘🤘
For Rise of Evil, are you going to be dressed in a black suit, sitting in an office chair with the cat at 9:56 sitting in your lap?
Another great episode. A progression of music that tells my life story. 🤘🏼
10 minute mark watch the cat walk in giving no care.
9:17 Indy influences?
0:53 I laughed so hard when indy said: Are you ready to rock like a 5 year old screaming whil he doesen’t have air
Us metalheads don’t need to follow in the judgmental footsteps of society.
Hey guys woudent it be cool if you did song about croatian war and battle for Vukovar
This changed from your grandpa telling you about what the war was like
to him telling you about the history of the greatest genre of music.
Megadeth/Iron Maiden/Sabaton/Metallica/Powerwolf/Scythelord/Frank Klepacki (Command and Conquer soundtracks)| are just some of my favorite metal artists.
ROCK ON
HEAVY METAL WILL NEVER DIE
RUST ONLY MAKES US STRONGER
I would love to see more songs like metal crue
Alright! Noted
So this was different. Different topic, Indy had a little company off to his left during his segment, and Joakim actually performed without his sunglasses--WOW!
I think o saw a cat walk under your chair at some point. Whats its name?
Indy descends further into madness, before you know it he will be showing up in an episode wearing all leather and a peirced nose or something.
Great. Now do 7734. Admit to the trolling!
Can you please enlighten me?
@@Bazerald777 Listen to the Lyrics of 7734 and read the comments on the video for the lyrics of 7734. There's a verse in the song saying "do Glatem livE, creator of all!" which in reverse is Evil metal God. There's another verse sating "The last two united and two became one, one hundred eleven - they perished in flames". The last two nubers of 7734 combined of course gives us 777. And when you substract 111 from that (AKA make them perish in flames) you get 666. The whole song is full of things like that.
First metal show was Iron Maiden in '86
Don’t think we didn’t see the cat in the background
