Choosing military history or just history in general was the best decision Sabaton ever made. I remember watching a stream of Total War Warhammer in 2016, the guy blasting Swedish Pagans while playing Norsca. It immediately caught my attention, meanwhile a song about being angry, drinking beer or whatever, would not have attracted me. Then I found the song and then listened to Winged Hussars after that. I was hooked after hearing a song so well written about a subject no one really talked about. So yeah, the fact that now, under every video of a battle covered by Sabaton, there is an army of fans talking about the band probably led to it's success.
My first Sabaton song is Night Witches on spotify. At the time I didn't know that the lyrics has a historical reference. But I got hooked to the melody and looked for the songs artist. I found sabaton and the rest is history.
Actually that's exactly how i met sabaton, I was playing Hearts of Iron 4, and had the dlc activated (I didn't knew at the time). Suddenly Night Witches start playing and I'm like "Damn, this song is fucking cool" so i added it to Spotify and once i searched and discovered it was based on a true story I got hyped as fuck to listen to more sabaton.
Awesome work. They no longer teach true history in school anymore. Now you're teaching it in your music. Please continue your message. AWSOME work. It's bands like SABATON, METALLICA, MANOWAR, ICED EARTH, AND FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH that are teaching history with music. Keep up the excellent work.
"They're are way too many fantastic stories that are being forgotten in our past, so why the fuck should we make up new ones?" That is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard Joakim say.
my daughter took a real interest in history from hearing me play Sabaton songs. Keep doing what what you are doing. You're not only turning kids on to metal but giving them an education as well.
Sabaton is the only band that I know of that does this sort of stuff for the fans literally no other band would do this sort of stuff tbh mad respects to joakim and the team
10 år har gått och Sabaton är fortfarande favorit. Har haft turen att se er några gånger och jag ser fram emot Umeå nästa år. Tack för att ni gör det ni gör så bra!
You guys are awesome. Found you in the early days too, really happy with the direction you guys took. Love the power metal but also love the really chill songs. The story telling is literally just as Joakim described it - we listeners get to go what the fuck, that actually happened? So cool, it's a head banging history lesson!
Through your music you teach a lot of people about events they otherwise never would have known about. And you also make history lessons fun an interesting, both through your music, and your history channel. History is important, it needs to be remembered, told and shared. You guys are one of a kind in the worlds of music because of it, and I thank you for that! All the best, and I'll see you guys in Oslo in march🤟🤟
In an era where history is being taught all wrong to serve political purposes, like blaming the 52 Pilgrims who got along great with the Indians until they all died, for all the world's problems, Sabaton joins the ranks of actual truth tellers and with a might roar too! #ThePilgrimsDidNothingWrong.
You guys are so funny. Can you please do 100 episodes of that? I love it. Thank you for your idea of making songs about military history. I learned so much that I would never have learned without you and I really enjoy your music. I hope so much I can see you guys live one day. Greetings from Germany.
Anybody else want way more parts than four? Right before the lockdowns they were doing the behind the scenes at the tours taking turns following a different band member each time. That was GREAT entertainment because these guys are so fun. I hate reality TV but I love reality youtube with these guys. It's too bad other bands don't copy them. Within Temptation got close but not so much anymore and Nightwish, don't get me started on them.
the first song of yours i ever saw was a music video on the winged hussars. After that i watched some more and now i'm hooked. I'm a massive history buff and although heavy metal isn't my thing, you guys make it mellow enough for me to love it!
I watched so much military movies, documentary, and just anything bout history in general. With all the movies and miniseries, making any of them into a song..we be in awe and spending years just hearing those. Soo...I ask...why stop? Keep goin and let's make this a standard for history classes
Just to throw my opinion into the ring: Guys, listening to Sabaton being a history lesson in metal is one of the most amazing things f***ing ever. This is one of the things i love Sabaton for: Not only great f***ing metal, but You guys make history f***ing interesting. Something at least my school teachers definitely sucked at. I have a very soft spot in my heart for all u-boat- and submarine-related history, but You guys sparked a general interest in things i didnt know of in the first place. So yeah, in case You weren't aware: You're not only making great music, You're educating people and get them to dig into things they considered boring. That's what i call culture, that's what i call teaching. And that's f***ing awesome! So do. not. stop. ever. Keep going! With that being said: Noch ein Bier! 😉
i had tickets to go to the show right after their denver show in the states (denver was their last show before all the cancels) hope 1 day i get to see these guys live
I remember the first Sabaton song I heard was not even theirs, it was the Amaranthe cover of "82nd all the way", shortly after I heard "Bismarck" in a background video and had to hear it Complete, so I searched until I found the band and it was love at first listen
I love this band, I met them with The Attack of the dead men, their songs always teach me something new and invite you to want to know more about history. I hope they continue to do spectacular and quality work as they always do :D
The first listen to a Sabaton song was really on accident. It was some background music on some tribute video and was like "what the heck is this song?!" (it was Metal Ripper). Then I found out it was by Sabaton, searched for music, and first song to popup was Ghost Division. So then I proceeded to buy every single album after listening. No regrets!
I think a good topic for a song would be that time on the Eastern Front in WW1, where German and Russian troops basically had to stop in the middle of a fight to fend off being attacked by wolves, then made a truce to work together to continue repelling the wolf attacks.
Joakim explaining why the band ended up writing military history songs really hit me. Same exact reason I went to college for history. Keep it up guys 🤘
I first learned about Sabaton when I was reading a fanfic where the writer wrote that they were listening to Sabaton's The Last Stand. I checked it out and have become a big fan since then.
I tell you what everyone knows what and how messed up White Friday is now thanks you to you gentleman. You have re-sparked my love of obscure war history...Thank you
I discovered sabaton after watching GIFs with sound videos that would periodically use the opening line of "Panzerkampf" which I wanted to find the song because I'm a huge history nerd. I fell in love when I discovered that that's the subject of most of your songs.
Love these videos the insight and history behind the band is amazing. The songs are amazing. The guys themselves are amazing so hope I can see you guys in London 2022
You guys are awesome! Can't tell you how much I look forward to more from you great and amazing people! Members of the band before and now, you are a big part of my life
12:03, I remember doing those when I was in martial arts!! My Wife thought i was crazy when I did those with her, great ab workout, just don’t let your heels touch the floor.
So Tommy ''bought'' his album that early. Lol before Spotify ''buying'' the albums were the standard. Good thing I have repented by buying all albums and even got most of them signed in Falun!
My first song was Attack of the Dead men and I was like “wow this was cool. A song about zombies” because I didn’t know what the band was. I eventually for Defense of Moscow and was hooked
Wait...so, if Primo Victoria is the first album, then what is Fist to Fight? Thats what got me into Sabaton....I dont even remember where I got the album from, but there were some awesome tracks on it, before the whole military history idea started. When Prim Victoria dropped (I was still in the military) and it happened to be on 6th of June and I remember that I was heading to base and I was so eager to listen to the album that I popped it in the CD player in my car, and after formation, our CO asked if anyone had anything to say... I raise my hand, and wanted to say a word about D Day, as none of us had realized that it was in fact that day many years ago...I was so pumped up by the album, that I wanted to motivate my troops too!

I saw you guys in Texas before this Covid crap happened and I was really looking forward to seeing you again with Judas Priest back in October. I feel really bad about what happened to Richie in JP. Hopefully you guys will be back in the San Antonio/Austin area sometime in the near future and I can finally get the chance to see you in concert again. I'm an old-school metalhead with an ear for talent and I think you're one of the best bands out there today.
It's a miracle Richie survived - most people who have what happened to him never even make it to a hospital, and there he was *finishing the song* before seeking help. Like you, I'd seen Sabaton live once (with Hammerfall), and couldn't wait to see them with JP. JP's rescheduled the tour (seems early to me, but hey - if they (and specifically Richie) are up to it), but now at my event they're going to have Queensrÿche with them, not Sabaton.
New Double Live Release: “The Great Show” & “20th Anniversary Show” out November 19.

Would love if you made a song about Dalregementet 🤘🏻

PLZ MAKE A SONG ABOUT THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR
I hope the current line up stays as long as possible.
Agree! This is the only set of members I have witnessed and I love them!
I do too, they have a great chemistry together
Agree. Love them as they were my brothers.
The person I can see leaving first would be Tommy, and is simply because of his other bands. But I hope they al stay together for a long while.
Lol
Imagine how it felt like from being a fan of a band to become a member of it, what the hell of an honor! 🤘
It’s actually a similar experience to Tim Ripper Owens. He went from singing Judas Priest songs in a cover band to bring the lead singer for 2 albums
Current lead singer of Jouney thought they pulled a prank when Journey reached out to hm.

Their laugh at the start of the video; very blessed and very wholesome.
