I love Finnish mentality: so much modesty and down-to-earth-ness, even with great talents. No bullshitting. Thanks for this interview, really interesting to a huge fan of both Nightwish and Wintersun! Was thrilled to hear Jukka loves Shoemaker, it’s such an unforgettable song.
He is a perfect fit, and he played flawless in this show. I think all bandmembers had to get used on such a stage behind the big green screen and no audience. So yes he seemed a bit nervous but everyone had to get used to the situation.
Yep, totally agree, he is the perfect choice for bass. Wintersun are heavier, but no less melodic, the bass lines share some common ground. As for the vocals? Who knows - the main thing is Nightwish have a solid future; a blessing for Marco no doubt who must have been in a bad place, or heading to one to leave so abruptly, good health to him, good luck to Jukka, and onwards with Nightwish.
As Jukka points out when you change a member of a band you change the dynamic of the band. Floor is the third Nightwish female vocalist and the band has gone from strength to strength. We'll never forget Marko, but I know the fans will give Jukka the great reception he deserves.
@@impugnu7852 for a professional or well rotated musician, is kind of easy. Most bands playing at parties, bars, saints holidays parties that exist in all countries have a huge setlist. I played in a band , and we played others people's music (from pop, reggae, rock, traditional Portuguese music, Brazilian, African, Latin, etc etc , you name it) it was 70 music without counting with the medleys, so most of this is made in 2 months. And sometimes a new hit appeared on TV or radio and we learnt that in days. So it's very normal for a musician that plays almost everyday to assimilate music 🎶
Jukka is a awesome, professional, humble guy and a solid bass player who was my first choice to replace Marko. No one can replace a legend, but he doesn't need to. Nightwish still has plenty of legends left.
Jukka being both a Nightwish and Wintersun fan, you were on my list. You and Jarkko. Hopefully, you will change your mind and sing because you have a fantastic vocal range.
I guess the band will need time to adjust. Marko not being there is still painful (at the end of the first concert when Tuomas hugged Jukka he almost cried, probably a mix of happiness for playing again but also realizing Marko wasn't on the stage anymore). Jukka not singing Marko's parts is a sign of respect, he's not "replacing" him (nobody can do that). But as the band keeps playing live they will start trying new things, and to be honest: Troy did a great job but another male voice harmonizing with Floor or doing some chorus is missing in some songs...
I really hope he stays permanently! Obviously Marco is irreplaceable, but Jukka did a great job. Besides, it would be AWESOME to have 2 Wintersun members in Nightwish, just magical!
What a nice guy and great musician !! I love Wintersun so I was so happy to know he is the session bass player for the tour. To be honest if Marko doesn't come back... I really hope he will become a permanent member of the band and he will start singing as well because he can do it very well !!
Is fantastic to have Jukka on board. I’m a a big fan of Nightwish and Wintersun as well. I’m glad to see Jukka joining the vehicle of spirit that is Nightwish. He is such a sound guy, I remember how nice he was with us the wintersun Mexican street team to do an interview with us and meet and greet. I wish you all the success with the band and I’m sure Marko is super happy to see you helping the band
Jukka was one of the first names I thought of when I heard that Nightwish will have a new Bass player, not least because Jukka and Kai work so well together. I think Jukka nailed it in the live streams. He seems to be a quiet and humble person and fits well with the rest of Nightwish
Thank you for that great interview and that it is in english😉 You always get the musicians to feel relaxed and it feels more like a conversation than an interview. Jukka did really great in the virtual shows, I hope he will sing on tour. Thank you Arto and Jukka. Greetings from Germany🤘
Jukka is equally modest and down to earth as Tuomas and all of Nightwish (band + crew etc.). Seems like the perfect fit. I would very much like to see a mic for Jukka during the upcoming tour. Maybe when he has settled in a bit more we can have him make the live sound fuller with some background vocals.
Excellent interview. I like Jukka's playing for one and his outlook and demeanor for another. He looks to be a good fit, now just to get some live shows.
Wow, really nice guy. Humble and well-spoken. Huge thank to him to help out Nightwish. Liked a lot his praise to Marko. Those words are balm on grieving fans wounds... Wish you all the best, herra Jukka Koskinen. Welcome aboard, have fun and we hope to see you soon personally at stage
Jukka seems like a very upstanding guy, that will fitt very well into Nightwish. He has a good taste ........ Shoemaker is - and were awesome in thr live stream :-).
I think Jukka will fit right into the Nightwish Family - same honest and humble attitude, and a great bass player. And you might start warming your voice - you and Floor could be doing some great duets - completely your own versions, and not comparable with Marko at all. And worry about Floor - she can keep up!! 👍🤘🤘

Big Wintersun fan like his style, never seen an interview with him before. Seems a great and humble guy, hope he gets more vocal in Nightwish, all the best. Again Arto great interview as always.
Very nice interview and how kind is the new player! Great man. It must be super difficult to replace Marko. Basically a guy need to "reinvents himself" in a way to create a brand new, very "visible" character of a frontman.Lots of pressure. I wish him best of luck!
This big, friendly, calm guy really fits with the role of bassist in my mind. Good to get to know him a little and looking forward to seeing him play live later this year (with a little luck). Can anyone recommend me a Wintersun song to hear a bit of his vocals :D? (I'm really not expecting a Marko Hietala, but if he could and would do some vocals that'd be really neat)
