I like Tuomas's reaction when the interviewer asks about fans reception to Floor and wanting Tarja back lol. It sounded like a big sigh that meant "Bruh, she's been gone nearly 15 years, can we move on already?"

      Idiotic question.

I know a lot of people from nightwish army will want to send me stones to my face but I have to confess something.
I knew Nightwish at the beginning and liked it, but for me it was "too" operatic, I prefered The gathering or Within temptation for example.
I heard some with Anette, and, for me it was too pop. She's a good singer, but it made Nightwish too much or not enough...I can't explain with words, for me it was a band that couldn't touch me anymore.
I re-discovered Nightwish with Floor maybe 3 or 4 years ago (thak you youtube!) and fall immediatly in love with Floor. She's the perfect compromise between aerial, operatic, mermaid and rock metal. She's got everything that (for me!) Tarja should have to be an awesome band. Her presence on stage, her smile, her humanity, her power, her rock attitude.
Again, I know lot of nightwish fan will hate what I'm gonna say, but the perfect Nightwish is now, with Floor and Troy. Both give the little magic the band needed.
      My opinion.
Now, Nightwish is in my top 5. Before, it was just one band with good musicians and good composer.

No doubt I am way late to the Nightwish game but when I first heard of them roughly six months ago and read all the comments about Tarja versus Floor I thought this must have been a very recent transition. Then I learn that Floor wasn't even the singer who replaced Tarja and that there was a five year period with Anette before Floor was even a thing. It's now been more than thirteen years since Tarja was kicked out for whatever reason and some people are acting like a woman who wasn't even a possibility for Nightwish's singer at the time Tarja's run ended not only came in and stole her job but made the band worse in doing so. So I went back and listened to the old stuff. Was Tarja good? Absolutely. Was she the right sound for a harder edge metal band? Not to me she wasn't. It seems like the band was trying to get away from that more operatic type sound and make the move to an edgier, tougher more organic sound while still retaining that bit of symphonic nature and nothing I heard from Tarja would allow them to do that. But then that may not be why she was kicked out anyway, I don't know. Anette was a good stop gap but with Floor they get that true rock/metal sound and edge with the symphonic bent still well preserved. Every person I've introduced to Nightwish who had not heard them before prefers Floors version of any song they ever both sang live and almost all for the same reasons. Her voice matches with the sound of the rest of the band better. Her presence matches the huge scale of the music and her voice is as big as the music as well. All of them enjoy Tarja's version fine until they hear Floor and then it's not so much they think she's a dramatically better singer but that she and her voice are better suited for the music and the style the band is trying to present. I have to agree.

I've been a fan since the bands second album. I love Tarja and everything she did with Nightwish. I also enjoyed the albums with Annette. Floor however just seems to fit perfectly. She is an amazing addition to the band and all the Tarja loyalists are really missing out due to their stubbornness. Nightwish get better with every album.

That being said I know that unlike the longtime fans I simply do not have any sentimental nostalgic attachment to that first Chic, & I just don't think of the Band with her as their lead singer... I first heard them with Floor being the Goddess vocalist that made me an instant fan... I have heard their older performances now and I still feel that Floor is the only voice I have any desire to hear in a Nightwish performance. She is just far more talented, and her singing is truly emotionally moving for me... So, screw the minority pining away for the chic that was fired so many years ago... They are, in reality, totally irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Honestly, the truth of the matter is that those disaffected few complaining about it are obviously forever doomed to being constantly disappointed; because it ain't ever happening.

Excellent interview asking very tough questions. No not everyone loves Floor. Frankly hearing her butcher old songs live was painful. This Nightwish is a shadow of a shadow of what it once was capable of. Heavy Metal band except the heavy and unique part is missing. They are still the awesome band Nightwish but the power the energy the emotion the rawness is gone and replaced by a multitude of complexities, too polished too distant. Where is that 90s feeling ? I have the feeling they are doing light music to appeal to soft fans like CCP and rock mainstream/ actual mainstream. Well hopefully there will be something truly dark and unique in this record. Also the Floor fans are a great addition to the fandom toxicity wise, but that does not change the fact that they are clearly missing the dark melancholy to be Trv3 Nightwish fans.
