  • @nerdbikes3841
    @nerdbikes3841 7 месяцев назад +20

    The Age of EVs means hypercar performance is no longer a thing for the super-wealthy. EVs are the biggest single advancement in car performance since the invention of the gasoline car itself. No longer do I hear from ICE fans about how fast a car is. Now their view is all about the “sound” and the “driver experience”. Both of these are highly subjective arguments. What is not subjective is the severe thrashing EVs now clobber ICE vehicles in raw, real world objective items like 0-60, the 1/4 mile and track times. When it comes to $$$ dollars/ performance , the race is over, ICE is defeated and gasping for air.

      I'm a, probably what you would call an ICE fan. My view is that the high performace vehicles are beyond the skills of the average driver. The average city street speed is between 15 and 35 miles. The average highway speed is 65 to 75 miles per hour. Any street vehicle that can attain the 0-60 that you are trying to sell is a non-starter. The only way that Tesla is going to be successful in the car market is a in fully autonomous vehicle where the machine sets the limits, not the human driver.

    I'm not sure 50% of what population you are referring to who can secure financing on a $179,000 car...but it sure isn't 50% of the US population.
    Even with a 10% deposit & financing for 84 mos. gives you a payment of approx. $ 2,700/mo. With the average family income in the US being $ 74,000/yr./$ 6,100mo. (before taxes) no bank I've ever heard of would finance a car requiring almost 50% of one's gross income. The rules-of-thumb are 10% - 20% of monthly income for car payments & the car value not exceeding 50% of your gross annual income.
