The camera is actually capable of recording 1920x1080 @ 30 FPS. I simply use a UHS-I micro SD card for that to work. The 15 FPS you get is due to slow writing speed of low class micro SD card.

Should at anytime when plugging in your Mini Camera the Lights DO NOT FLASH then the RESET BUTTON NEEDS TO BE PRESSED 2 to 4 TIMES BEFORE PLUGGING BACK IN FOR CHARGE !! You'll know you did it right when after plugging in your USB the lights Flash again !! I plugged mine in from out of the BOX and No Lights showed me it was Charging. So SMALL PAPER CLIP WORKS BEST.
Looks god and I headed off to GearBest site to order one and they are now $12 :-) I am happy with that. I am actually in the UK and it was just a mere £8. Is it real 1080 or just upsampled 720 (or what looks already like upscaled 480 tbh)? How does the night mode look? Will it automatically start recording and shut off depending on the power cable from the car? Should have added more samples of actual footage :-\

To everyone asking about the night vision: Forget about it. People thinking it should turn green, NO. There are infrared leds on the front and the camera lens picks up infrared light. But the infrared leds are effing tiny, wont shine on anything further than 10cm from the device. In night, its just a very dark image. Works fine on roads tho as a dashcam as your headlights and other peoples lights will make it visible enough whats going on.

Hey when I recoding on the 1080 mode it record but no pictures or view! I only can heard my voice or any noise that the camera have recorded and pickup! Why is that no pictures or view but u can only hear sounds?
When I first received the product it switched on fine. Then I charged it for 2 hours and then when I switch it on, the blue led lights up for 2 secs then turns magenta..which blinks for 4secs and then finally turns blue again for a fraction of a sec and then turns off. Any idea whats happening?

For such a small camera the footage looks very decent ... even in low light ... not so sure about the "night vision : close up" aspect of it, or the fact that users claim it "overheats" ... could be awkward in the pocket if it accidentally switches on and you don't realize until it reaches the "too hot" level.
+Darin Malloy please update your video description to include: 1280x720 @ 30 FPS, 1920x1080 @ 15 FPS. Also when in Full HD 1920x1080 aspect ratio seems to be broken (you must resize window to 4:3 to have proper ratio, which makes no sense for 1920x1080 resolution). Also has motion detection capability. IMHO cheap camera, you get what you pay for.
if you happen to get the Red Dot of death there's a little tiny hole that you can use a little pin to push the factory reset button that will straighten this out and let you go back to doing what you're doing you may have to do for a few seconds but it will factory reset and let you restart and all that

My camera only records in 5 minute increments for 25 minutes on 720p mode, and then it shuts off. Do you know how I can get it to record longer than 25 minutes at a time? I am using a 32 GB micro SD card. Ideally, I would like it to record for one hour continuously on 720p mode.
How can you tell if the camera is off? You turn it on, say to 720P, blue light...press on button, flashes blue light telling you that it is recording 720P, light goes out, looks like camera is off...
I just did a little test video with mine, or tried to anyway. But when I wen to open the video on my computer I got an error message: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

HOW TO FIX OVERHEATING PROBLEM ON CHARGE MODE. Yes the camera does get quite hot on charge mode. Perhaps because of it's small size, heat sincs would not be practical. How I got around the heating problem while charging was quite simple. Prior to charge place the camera in the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes. This will chill down the unit. Leaving the unit in the refrigerator connect to charge cord, close fridge door, charge it in the cold environment of the fridge, it never gets a chance to heat up. IT WORKED FOR ME. Like the old saying says: Nothing beats a loss but a try."

Is your SQ8 still working properly. I see some people have said that it has overheated on them and no longer functions. Have you had this issue?
I've used it all weekend in my car and I haven't had a problem with it. it does get warm, but seems to be fine.

Yes it does. It records in 5min chunks so when it gets full, it can record over the oldest 5min file.
mine doesn't record over old files. Once the SD card is full it stops recording. Other than that is working fine.

Does anyone know how to play back onto the PC directly from the camera? I just seem to get files in my removable disk that cannot be opened.

You can't turn it off -- just put it in standby mode, and wait 30 seconds. It will time out and shut itself off.
