this was recommended to me. basically on the 10th year anniversary of the video... WOW how times have changed. looking at 4k in something that size nowadays
well you could literally just desolder the sensor on the inside and replace the whole thing with a 4k sensor of the same size
Event though I wouldn't be buying this camera, I was curious and saw the whole review with full attention.......so a very professionally done and very professional voice the likes of which we get to hear on TV channels
+jai singh thanks for the kind words, there's another 200+ videos in my channel, you may find some of them interesting.
+Techmoan I thought of going through your channel and before I could explore your other videos, I couldn't ignore your Channel Trailer and I had to see it......and it turned out to be interesting..so many variety of sights and sounds in one place.....quite an assortment and your voice is very pleasing, it is an appealing factor of your videos as well....Kudos and Best of Luck.
jai singh
+jai singh thank you for the positive words Jai, this is an old video, so it's only today that I saw your comment.
+Techmoan No problem.
This camera would be great for lego stop motion to capture low angles that are hard to reach with bulky cameras.
Assuming it can focus at that distance
Haha, had the same idea.
It's almost the right scale honestly!
This was a great video as usual, but watching it in 2017 it's fantastic to see how your editing style has improved even more since 2011.
Ah, 2011 - when mini-usb was more popular than micro-usb.
ahh 2016 hwere the micro USB was more popular than USB c
nabhan qureshi ahh 2027 when cables were more popular than no cables at all
a simpler time
where can i get wide angle lenses one ??
You won't be able to find it on this camera. You get what you get.
Why is youtube non stop recommending this video to me for the last two weeks ? I already watched it new 10 years ago.
Because it's called *The Algorithm* not *The Memory*
@Engineering525 If you REALLY want to use it as a webcam then you can download the drivers from the Files & Drivers page of my website TECHMOAN.COM
I've now added a link that explains how to remove the timestamp in the video description.
"up to 32gb or bigger"
+Juan Morales LOL
I looked at that and I was like what the actual fuck
Juan Morales can it support window 10
@@ahmaddanishdanielhamsan9308 idk trash can be heavy.
I love your comment about getting a webcam. 😁
That made me think of Alan Partridge lol! Us Mancunians sure can moan!
@Anonymous52550 My website? TECHMOAN.COM As far as your question about the best small camera...today it's probably the 808 #16, but these things change pretty quickly.
@irishgt The Chobi One costs £190 (or it did 6 months ago when I made this video). The cameras you are seeing on other websites are cameras that Look Like the Chobi One - but are not the Chobi One. This camera that is being reviewed is a Y3000 - it is also a Chobi One look-alike camera . This is explained at the beginning of the video.
anybody else thinks this guy sounds like James May at times
he does
I always think techmoan is James may reviewing tech products..
georgetuckley0 a little bit
He's not James May, he's James May's technophilic cousin!
Only if you ignore their very different accents.
This is insane. It has the same quality as the flipcam.
Yeah impressive for what is basically a toy.
heyitsablackguy can it support window 10
It's a long time since I made this video and I've forgotten what I said...but if you are connecting a power supply via USB then you can record until a 32GB SD card is full.
@Kilaheem Have a look at my channel....shed loads of them.
This is now a time capsule as well as a review.
I'm pretty sure CIA can get a hold of smaller 720p camcorders :D
Great Value Bleach
!!!! Omg SMART ADS LIKC
@whoandcar its probably just that the codec is incompatible with your media player unfortunately. There isn't anything that you can do o.ther than transcode the footage on your PC.
@SultanaDaniel It's not easy. A lot of footage that I'd shot for this video was unusable/mis-framed.
2019 here and I want a keychain camera now
Good review, thank you.
I had this for a gift in 2013. Cute smol camera and certainly a conversation starter.
@d1977j I'll be honest, I never knew about these cameras. I may look into getting one in.....but no promises.
This guys voice is so soothing
Weird but true 😂😂😂
Mate, you should do some Documentary narrating. Cool voice man!
I don't think you have tried very hard...just click the link in the Video Description and then click the link in the blog entry on my website TECHMOAN.COM
Click the link in the video description if you want to REMOVE THE TIME STAMP.
Derek Zoolander, I have a camera for you.
Been 8 years bruh!
You sound like the guy from Top Gear!!!
The Socal Spotter Goose or Maverick?
Lol James May i finally found you!
The smallests 720p camera in the wooOOooorld...
The Socal Spotter james may lol
rojafx It's a bit like a jaaaaggggg.
Happy ten years to this video. Cool to see how the videos have changed, for the most part the same but better. Better quality video and sound and he's more comfortable making jokes.
This is the second one of your camera reviews I have watched and just want to say thank you for an excellent job. I enjoyed the great detail you included in the reviews regarding the cameras, the high quality videos you created and the your sharp comments.
Is it possible to use the camera as a camera for a drone
not for fpv but yeah its only 17 grams
Nice video. Sounding a little bit like John Peel ;)
Thoroughly informative test review as always .
There was a huge amount of work putting this video together ,especially the dual footage on the bike /theme park etc bike . Much appreciated thank you.
Going to get myself one of these , Staggering IQ from something so small.
@zck7 Just use the search term Smallest Camera - if you do this on Deal Extreme the product appears under SKU59538
So small!!! It looks so cute 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😘😘😘😘😘😘😚😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😉😍😍😍😍
Kylie Jimenez that's what girls say to me
Army spotted..
Is blocking a British term? In the states we use pixelated, blocking is how things are arranged on screen.
It's just a shortening of Macro-blocking hometheater.about.com/od/hometheatervideobasics/qt/Macroblocking-And-Pixelation-Similarities-And-Differences.htm
Thank You! I love your channel!
+1
Techmoan "use it on my motorbike because it has cycle recording" was the pun intended or was it just a perfect example of a happy little accident?
This is a very old video review. Things have moved on a lot. I wouldn't worry about the quality of an old camera like this. See my review of the Möbius to see what a 2013 1080p mini camera can do.
@TheRailCity Just some stock copyright-free music included in iMovie
You sound like James May.
Be careful buying this on ebay. What I got was advertised as the same thing but in reality was a very cheap knock off. It takes terrible photos and videos… buyer beware!
Yep... same thing happened to me.
Yup. Bought mine a week ago. Thought maybe it's the memory card I'm using.
Bought a Sandisk Class 10 one and still got under 50 KB pics and its 1MB per Second for video. Bad audio and quality.
Also, can't delete time stamp.
What have we learned? If it's coming directly from China.. it's worthless. Now everything is made in China don't get me wrong.. including the IPhone.. but those products have to meet design type specifications through the company before it gets shipped to them for distribution. If we buy directly from there though .. it's nothing but trash.
Well, I chose a UK seller. So still got mugged.
Managed to get like 70% refund.
sirlordwhitman
You mean if I buy cheap shit off ebay from chinese sellers I won't be getting quality merchandise at ridiculously low prices?
You dear sir are the perfect British tech-reviewer: thorough, creative, thorough and simply a joy to listen to. Subscribed! )
@ceracecar DX are good people to deal with, so if you've found it there then I'd use them.
Vintage techmoan
so can I selotype this to my bicycle helmet and record me going cycling around ?
*+MCKingfisher*
why not ?
***** wat do u mean ?
***** what does faceplam mean ?
I forgot I was watching a video review about cameras and just felt like I was living your life for a bit.
@Desmaad Agreed
I hear James May for some reason.
+Dimitar P. Dimitrov I was seriously wondering if it was him. lol
Can I use this as a webcam?
You can't have watched the whole video if you asked this! He was very funny explaining how it does in theory but why it's poor quality.
10 bloody years ago youtube, ten bloody years! Now you want me to watch it.
you are my hero. That was probably the best review of anything I've ever seen- it was perfectly thorough without dragging. Preesh
Ah, 2011 - when mini-usb was more popular than micro-usb *and* usb type c didn't exist
go get yourself a webcam thought that was funny lol
@afg96 Thanks - I aim to please.
You have come a long way!
Yeah, I ordered the 8 megapixel version of this camera and it looks utterly horrible compared to your footage. The resolution is there.. but the colors are blurry and grotesque, and nowhere near as sharp as yours. The Chinese sweatshop strikes again..
Just get a Mobius actioncamera, and never look back on this one again.
sirlordwhitman and a idiot fell for Chinese's trap again.
Makes you the idiot lmfao.
Toulue Vang Well thank you for confirming my suspicions, Chinese sweatshop guy. You heard it here folks. Not only will consumers get ripped off by replicas of the real thing on Ebay, the sellers will also get on RUclips and openly laugh their asses off about it. Thank you Mr. Vang, I hope you are so very proud of yourself and the contributions you make to electronics consumer market. Stay innovative!
or you can try "geek app" its so cheaper thr..
just sayin
Cool! I'm gonna use this to spy on ladies taking big dumps!
***** electrical or information? either way you're sick.
I was thinking the same thing
WOW
Lmao people don't get jokes. ^
+Conngee Hudson erm.... yeah you didn't get mine either, you seem to be unaware of what an electrical dump is, or a information dump. and i liked his comment. i was also implying either of these two ways is sick, but not his original idea. good day to you sir.
Tremendous job! This is the best review video I've seen on any topic! You are very well ordered in your thinking and equally as articulate. The continuity of the review elements is also excellent! Thanks!
Probably the best review I've had the pleasure to watch on youtube, thank you and very well done. You've got yourself a subscriber
Subscribed yesterday. Love your videos, especially the webcam tantrum on this one!
So which class SD external memory do i should use for more quality and frames per seconds if i'm looking a video like this example??? Thanks for you answering
Leo McKenna
Hi Leo,
Try using a 'CLASS 10' mSD card from a respectable manufacturer,i.e. SANDISK,TOSHIBA,ETC !!!
Man this is the best review of any type of product. You tested it so much. Thanks
I think the insides of this cam are inside many others of various prices. Great review.
Fantastically well done review! Moves right along; no dross. Thanks for your efforts. Appreciated.
Appreciate all of your reviews. Keep up the great work. Cheers
@MyFoxangel No - the thing that look likes a screen on all these cameras is just a grey sticker. This camera also had one on it, but it peeled off.
Great work! I love what you have done here !
@QRLaymon Don't worry - the discs are always useless. They just contain webcam drivers and a copy of the instructions as a PDF
This was 8 years ago wow!!!
Yet another brilliantly practical review. Cheers!
Thanks...I'm glad you've subscribed, I'll warn you that I've uploaded quite a few videos after this one.
There is no one camera that will do everything, but if you are after a mini camera, you should buy the 808#16. See my two videos about this camera (on my channel) as well as my blog entries on Techmoan.com
This is a great video review and certainly helped me learn what to look for in an HD camera.
Thanks.
this guy has the best reviews i have ever seen
Great review, thanks. I like how the HD808 looks like an ordinary key fob, I think overall it performed better too.
Overlaying music during the motorbike ride audio test made the comparison a bit difficult.
Awesome presentation. Perfect editing for sharing. I would recommend a bullet list to depict the highlights in one frame text list.
Hey - just wondering what the focal depth is? I'm looking at using one of these for something that would require a 120mm focal depth... Just how close can you get to objects in focus?
Great presentation ! Not a second wasted !👍
Such a great deep review for just a small tiny device! gotta subscribe to see what you will do with big things.
And now many phones have 4k and even 8k cameras that are a fraction of the size of this. :) Imagine what will be available in the next 10 years.
@omgtkseth It's Manchester UK. There are some bits that look respectable but like most cities, the majority of it is a lot less photogenic.
now thats what i call a reviews, great job man
Now that's what I call a review! Useful information, well documented and understandable. Thanks for taking the time to create it. .did you ever work for Audubon..
Excellent Comprehensible Review....Crystal clear explanation.
Give this man a Job as a BBC New Caster.
Well Done Guy.
First thanks for taking the time to supply us with so much great information and giving us your time so freely-I find your video very well put together and informative. I wish all the manufacturers had you do there product info! I did not get to review all your clips and wanted to know if you can point me in a direction of small battery operated wireless cameras that you have used or recommend? Tks again
What a great review you sir have earned yourself a subscriber.
Dude you do excellent reviews..
Thanks for sharing this video! I really enjoyed the way you presented the comparison. Your speech timber, cadence, inflection and amplification were all spot on. I have a question outside the scope of the content. I was curious, what video editing software did you use to produce this clip? I'm mostly interested in two fun features found in it. They were the side-by-side comparisons and the frame-within-a-frame views. For me, those attributes really made your video a step above the ordinary.
I love your videos and I subscribed recently to your channel. Regarding this camera, I just want to make a comment about the resolution. In my experience, these days, many (usually Chinese) manufacturers tend to use this, what I consider to be a marketing trick and when they sell their video equipment, they state it's capable of higher resolution than it actually is. They've come up with something called a native resolution. This goes for cameras, but video projectors too. They put a 640x480 sensor on a camera, but record a 720p video. And sometimes even 1080p. Given the results, I was wondering if you'd be able to test the native resolution of the camera i.e. the sensor.
Perfect review. It really gave me some insight on which one I would like to really have.
Bought this one, thank you for your review.
Love your videos and humor, man! :)
Excellent review. Well done.
Excellent review mate!
I've come to the conclusion..... HD808 for sound, Y3000 for video.
I might get both and tape them together.
Great review and thanks for posting
Great review sir!
One of he best reviews ever actually :] Nice oen! thumbs up for u
Another great review
Genius. Thanks for the review, I found it very thorough and helpful.
