This is a cover version of an Inez and Charlie Fox song from 1963 performed at the No Nukes Concert in 1979. James Taylor and Carly Simon were married at the time and their chemistry shines right through.

I was today years old when I heard the names Inez and Charlie Fox. I just looked them up on RUclips and was again surprised.
One of my favorite duets ever. ❤
This song was on one of Carly's albums. I think James wrote some additional lyrics for it. I recall that it got a lot of radio play at the time. It's just a fun song. They both are very talented artists. James is a fantastic acoustic guitarist , has a beautiful honeyed kind of voice and he has written a lot of terrific songs. Carly also has fabulous voice and a lot of great songs. They both have a unique sound to their voices. If u heard them on the radio--u knew it was them right away. And when they sang together their voices blended beautifully, which is interesting since they both have such singular sounds.
Love this one! It's one of my favorite duets. They made what I always thought of as a children's song, sound funky. Love how they banter back and forth and overlap and just play off each other. Both are very talented.

Carly Simon had difficulties with stuttering when she was a child, but found she could sing without the stuttering happening.🙂❤

I sang this to my daughter so much she had the lyrics down by age 5. She takes one part and I take the other. Now she’s going to have a daughter in June. Hope she passes this on.
I’m so excited & I haven’t even watched the reaction yet! James is known as 1 of the best song writers of all time…my brother is a musician & they have very similar voices. Growing up I always thought it was my brother on the radio. Then when I’d go see his band in person it sounded the same. Obviously eventually I learned the truth lol! My brother wrote a song for James Taylor’s brother Livingston Taylor. Carly Simon is an amazing singer songwriter & musician too. They were together at one point in they’re lives. I’ve been to many many of Taylor’s concerts! Great Crowd! Great People! Great Music! Great Atmosphere! He still performs anyone who can should go see him if you can! ✌🏻☀️
I was absolutely smitten with Carly thru the '70's.

A favorite Carly Simon song is That's the Way I've Aways Heard It Should Be. And James Taylor is an endlessly engaging singer/songwriter. Please check out his duet with JD Souther on Her Town. There's his iconic Fire and Rain of course but also Mexico, Steamroller, and a song I completely relate to called Traveling Star.
I remember singing this song in 1st grade. I like their version more. Dumb and Dumber also performed this song on a road trip.

Remember these two where married at one time, and had a son and daughter together ❤❤ Love them both and love this song. Country singer Toby Keith and his daughter sang this song together, and I was actually shocked at how good it sounded!! 😮 Not a Toby Keith fan, what can I say? Hope he's better, prayers 🙏 for him and his family.

There is some basic physics involved with the tone and size of the mouth, etc. Large structures resonate at low frequencies and resonance is required to both emit and absorb waves (light and sound). The guitarist, who you don't really see till the end, is Waddy Wachtel. He's also played with Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks and Keith Richards, to name a few.

Fun fact: Carly did her Ancestry research with Finding Your Roots a few years ago. Her grandmother was half black. Her father was Jewish & the famous ‘Simon’ of Simon & Schuster’. She’s had a very interesting upbringing.

At the time, Mick Jagger was the mouth to reference. This was at the No Nukes concerts. A huge event that also had a movie and album. 1979. Right after the Three Mile Island nuclear accident in Pennsylvania. Look it up as there are many great performances.

When I was much younger, I listened to WOWO radio. They ran a contest in which the used very short parts of songs where the singers say Woah Woah. This was one of them as was the Carpenter's Yesterday Once More.
They had WOWO sung like 35 times and to win, you had to listen all songs in the order. It was a very hard contest but thousands took up the challenge I think a 13 year old girl from Fort Wayne, Indiana finally one it after the contest ran all summer long.
I can only think of Vacation and Dumb and Dumber when I hear this.

Hey you guys should check out James Taylor doing Steamroller Blues live. There are a few different videos but the one from right about the same time as this Mockingbird video is far and away the very best. It’s from 1978 or 1979.

If you can find it, I would strongly recommend the No Nukes concert footage. It was performed over 3 nights at Madison Square Garden with a revolving group of performers including Bruce Springsteen and Jackson Browne. I saw it in the Theater when it came out and loved it.
Stellar performance. She does have a very large cake hole. But oh my, the voice. Another suggestion is The Spy Who Loved Me -such a great song by Carly Simon.

This was from a concert called "No Nukes" in NYC in Madison Square Garden in 1979. It was a benefit concert to oppose nuclear weapons. So many great musicians were there everyone from Jackson Browne to Bruce Springsteen. Carly and James were married at the time but divorced later. They had 2 children who are also singers. When this song came out it was played on the radio CONSTANTLY. I got sick of it, and it's one of those songs that will stick in your head and you can't stop hearing it. And Carly's vocal range is likely 2nd alto, and she may have a range down into the tenor area. I know her range is below my natural one, so I always had trouble singing with her songs.

Carly took up singing to help with her stuttering, and...as is often the case...it worked. She is also known for being a shy introverted person. And has a lifelong, pretty bad case of STAGEFRIGHT. And you can't tell ANY of that from this performance.
