Joscho is to gypsy-jazz what Paco de Lucia was to flamenco, or Tommy Emmanuel to traditional and world music. You had your original masters like Django, Sabicas and Chet Atkins come along, define the style and set precedents, and then you have a guy like Joscho who comes along and really takes the whole genre to the next level. Edit: Not to mention that massive lick at the end-it would have gave Les Paul a run for his money!

What a fun and admirable, and generous performance. Generous, in the sense that he is as they say in the movie business, and as I see it, presenting at least in-part, an unashamed "homage" to guitarist such as Atkins, and Merle Travis who played passages in the style Joscho so well reproduces in his own fresh, yet recognizable manner. I'm pretty familiar with, and a big fan of, some of the more well-known "Gyspy Jazz" guitarists, and this is certainly an a-typical for the genre performance which took me by surprise and had me laughing out loud.
And now I have to transcribe that.. like I didn’t have about a million other songs to transcribe already.. at least it’s not as fast as the first mr sandman track you did all those years ago.. (which is still a killer track!)
