This video changed my life. About a year ago I was an alcoholic. Didn't go to meetings or anything like that but I used to drink ALOT. Everyday, until I was drunk. My health was deteriorating and I was fat. I weighed-in at 104.8 kg's at my fattest (I'm not that tall either - 1.7m). I listen to the RUclips while I work, and by chance this video of Teal played in the background. That night while I was drunk again I woke-up and I realised that... I was drunk again because I didn't love myself. That I drank to lull the pain which is me. I picked-up a knife (which I keep next to my bed for self-defense) and I carved the number "1" into my bed-side table (Woke-up my girlfriend in the process, she though I was nuts). I knew if I wanted to change that the 1st thing I would have to do is become sober. So I started trying, but I kept wrestling the bottle and the bottle always won. I kept on going to bed at night seeing the "1", and each time I would be reminded of what it would take to heal myself. New years came and I got really really drunk that night. Passed out on my couch and the next day I had to phone my parents to let them know i won't be able to make the family lunch since I was too hung-over. While I was hung-over lying on the couch a friend of my girlfriend walked in. I didn't even know he slept over. We start talking and he asked me if I noticed that he didn't drink a drop of alcohol the previous night. He told me that he was sober and a vegan and that he felt fantastic. I decided to become a vegan and give up alcohol from that day forward (except if someone was toasting on their wedding, then I would have a sip of campaign as to not be an asshole, or if someone was having a shot to celebrate and achievement, etc). During the course of the year thus far I have drank 3 shots and had about 4 sips of campaign. But i don't drink anything anymore. Not even campaign. I have lost 22 kg's in about 9 months, and now I'm sexy! I have also trippled my income and I started kick-boxing again. I came in 2nd at the Nationals last weekend. Thanks Teal. This video changed my life for the better.

True!! I am gay and worked for a year with a homophobic person and never knew that he was. After a year we went for a dinner with collegues and suddenly he told me. You know Marco? Knowing you made me completely change my opinion about gays. I always thought that gays were only thinking about sex, but you have shown me that I was completely wrong. What do I mean about this? I mean there is no need to take actions or thinking about how to change the world. To exist, is more than enough to change it.

7 long years ago until now, I was icy. I thought my pain justified my feeling of it and I became very accepting and pessimistic. I hated how society is always deficient, not enough money, or jobs, or food, or fossil fuels. The world claimed to be overpopulated. It seamed like my existing just made all the worlds problems a little bit harder. Instead of ending my life I just decided to not be picky about it. I wouldn't ask for anything. It wasn't worth I sought, but a lack of being unworthy. I actually found value and pride in my endurance, the ability to survive anything. The last year, me watching these videos changed my life. I still don't know why people care about me, but I know it's there. I don't expect people to care or understand this comment, in fact for me it's hard posting RUclips comments, but I will deny myself something I apparently have if I didn't post this. I just wanted Teal to know that I value and appreciate her work immensely.
I once thought that my self worth is all about knowledge, title in life, how successful I am in life, or how much money I have. I have learned during this past few years that it is really have nothing to do with those I mentioned. I am really enough as me and that is a true freedom. Thank you for your beautiful message.

There are some nuggets of wisdom here, but a psychologist has credentials, years of study (some of it peer-reviewed) and the field has seen over a century of research into what makes the human psyche tick, I would tend to give them a little more credence than some pseudo-scientist on RUclips with no real credentials to speak of.

I'm obsessed with fantasizing and daydreaming but I'm beginning to think it's actually self destructive. I might see myself in a positive light in a fantasy, but it never becomes a reality. So I hold attachments to these fantasies and become obsessed with them. Almost like another me in a nonexistent world I've made it up in my mind. But it's so addictive, I can't seem to stop

It's a usually a response to a childhood situation which is unbearable .. we literally escape into a nicer reality.
It generally starts really young .. for me it was around age 7 or so.
I'm getting on top of it now! Learning to focus .. continually receiving spiritual benefit from teachers on RUclips ..

I am glad that I came across Teal Swan. Without her videos I could never have discovered a new way of learning and loving myself. Any time I need support I watch a video and I am free from the constraints of my past and the abuse. I am much further along the way and half the battle for me is self acceptance. With Teal she gets to the root of the problem with no could's or should's, is it was it is and through self acceptance and discovering self hatred can we/me be free. From my heart to yours Teal... As my intention is to change how people respond to me as I’m sure I’m having people mirror back to me my subconscious beliefs about myself... And then I was led here today... *Everyone is born with 100% self worth, and it never changes up until the day you die.* Sometimes, however, our sense of self worth seems to change because our perception of the self is shaped and molded by our life experiences, particularly those which are abusive and traumatic. From a biological and evolutionary perspective, it makes sense for us to develop feelings which are signals of circumstance regarding how to get our needs met, but *people often make the mistake of identifying with those feelings as though they are reflections of our inherent self worth; they are not.*
For example, if a child is raised by parents who are critical of the child for not being "good enough", the child will likely have a feeling relating to this experience, which is just a way of making the child aware that the way they behave may increase or decrease the likelihood of their needs getting met (attention, love, food etc.). If the child did not have this feeling, they wouldn't be able to calibrate their behaviour effectively in regards to their ever changing and dynamic environment, which after all concerns their survival. *Therefore, any and all feelings relating to a lack of self worth are not accurate or objective reflections of the child's true worth, but rather a guidance system rooted in biology, which functions as a strategy to getting the child's needs met.*
Similarly, physical pain tends to serve a similar purpose; if you burn yourself you will feel a sensation of pain, who's function is to protect the body and deter you from repeating the same behaviour that caused the injury. At no point did the sensation of pain reflect on your self worth in any way, shape or form. All feelings follow the same pattern. End of. Good day. :)

what about lack of self worth in abusive or harassed people for example, the social perspective tends to treat them as less people wich have lose their dignity!! Where this concept came from? And is it true and innate in human or it is obtained as a social behaviour troughout history?

Mine as well. I'm just beginning the path to self healing... and self worth is a struggle, as i wasn't aware of having any since I can remember.
WowTeal it took me HOURS to get through this short video because I kept stopping to do the inner work after each point you discussed. I admit it was difficult to get through (lots of uncomfortable emotions came up). But the revelations, the “AH HAH” moments, the brutal honesty that comes up through this type of self reflection, made it totally WORTH IT! This truly was the best explanation for me that I’ve come across. You are loved and appreciated thank you for your candor.

Teal Swan you are wonderful and your past doesn't make you less loveable thank you so much for sharing this video I struggle with self-worth sometimes because I tie it to productivity and accomplishment. The rose example at the start was really great. I undergo a journey whether I am a seed or rose doesn't make me less worth it's just the journey. I don't need to be ahead of the other seeds to feel better about myself I just need to focus on my journey. And inspire other seeds to grow ^^

This video makes me cry every time I watch it. I've watched all of teals videos multiple times. This is, in my opinion, not only her best video but her most important one. This I'd the one that stuck in my mind for years. Everything we do wr do because we don't think we are enough or are worthy. I cried today and felt suicidal. I questioned why I wanted somrtjing so badly t work, and I realised it was because I wanted to feel loved. And underneath that ii thought if I felt loved then that would make me worthy to be alive.
She is right. Self worth issues are the main cause as to why we are in a perpetual cycle of doing things.

I found out that the affirmations work the best when you have already planted the seeds of whatever you want to manifest, and started working towards it.
