SO a little insight into why I made this survey: This survey was a test on human behavior when asked to determine a character through a subjective criteria they made for themselves. Nothing in this survey's answers are objective because the focus wasn't really the characters but rather how people answered and who they answered. 1. I wanted to mentally force a pseudo-ultimatum with a basic question: who do you think is the BEST or WORST character. Just one character. No in betweens, no nothing. Abstaining was a perfectly valid choice and was within the expectations of the questionnaire. But the goal was to back the respondent into a corner mentally to weigh options. Which is why I believed that a "Who is your top 3" wouldn't give the results that I want. The questionnaire also didn't posit any kind of restrictions on what character you can choose. It means that the character that was chosen meant SO MUCH to the person that, across all of the characters, they're who they thought of enough to answer it. 2. I wanted to see how people defined why they chose that character. I gave a preliminary list, but also an Others that I paid attention to. At first i was going to make it an essay-type question but I realized that would be too much when I'm just looking at the same variables (there's usually a framework for design). So i just decided that if someone wanted to give their own opinion on the matter, I will leave an OTHER:_______ option for them. Needless to say it was fun. 3. I had a working hypothesis for recency bias based on literature but didn't want to impose a limitation on this survey for duration, so all playable characters were on the table. My hypothesis was that characters that had been more recent would get more votes in general, BUT characters that were a bit older (like Liyue, Mondstadt, and Inazuma) would at least have similar votes. Which is why I was really surprised that AYATO was so remembered by the respondents. It's also hard to quantify recency bias in Genshin because characters usually appear in rerun banners or new events. Meaning there's usually still new content of them, albeit small and intermittent. So I decided that I wasn't going to deal with that variable for this survey and just observe if it was practiced. Also if you're curious who I would have answered, I would have answered differently: 1. Visual Design (Best/Worst) : Zhongli / Bennett 2. Combat Design (Best/Worst): Wanderer / Lisa [im allergic to charge attacks with no movement] 3. Personality (Best/Worst): Faruzan / Abstaining 4. Story Quest: ...Albedo no lie (a date in the mountains thanks) / Xiao 5. Lore Potential: Albedo 6. Future Character: Dottore
"Best Combat Design : Wanderer" "Best Personality : Faruzan" you are SO based for that, although I'd probably put Wanderer for best personality, Faruzan is definitely a great contender for that too
My preferred combat design would be kazuha/raiden/childe and preferred personality would be kazuha/itto. Bennett grew on me visual design wise, so my least favorite is yunjin or dori. I am satisfied with most story quests; Albedo has huge lore potential, and my future character pick would be Dainsleif when he finally becomes playable.
8:50 The fact that the people underestimate FARUZAN's hangout? Has people even played it? TAMIMI HAD ME IN TEARS. The best hangout and I'll die on this hill
probably not. let me be real i only played like 2 hangouts. that are bennet and noelle, bennet becuse he was interesting and noelle because why no. i like her just a helpful maid that is just too op. now thats a character trait i can get behind
Not enough to top Lynette’s and Kaveh’s. I replay his hangout every so often bc it makes me think so much of the educational system, and the professionalism of teachers nowadays. Made up for his shitty combat kit i guess
i very nearly voted for hers, it's definitely one of the best, but there are others that just tops it. lynette's just feels like a full-on story quest and not a hangout so i had to 😭
BRUH i'm not gonna lie seeing her for the first time, I didn't tot much of her, I didn't give two craps about her honestly. that was a disservice from me to myself, her hangout quest showed me that, shes an amazing charater lol her voice her story her personality her smarts the way people act aroud her just chefs kiss. that was very surprising to me her design the skills looks, anemo bow charater everything's just so boring. needless to say I love her because the hangout shes the best
Even players who are AR 60 for last three years still don’t have knowledge when it comes to analysis of character. Even today many characters will wrongly interpreted
I really think furina's quest voted as high as it did doesn't have to do with AQ bias. Even with the very controversial treatment that paimon and the traveller gave her, the rest of the story mainly focuses on her struggles and fears, on her perceived short commings and how she wants to find a new path in life for herself, also the small lore implications about the way she is rewarded is pretty cool
Guess you didnt pay attention to her story because it wasnt about her finding herself a new path but rather getting back onto her old path of being an actress by easing her into it. By the end of the quest she's kinda forced on stage due to a situation with the lead actress but it was more about a story of how a person began to doubt theirself to such a high degree that they abandoned the thing they like and became a shutaway, only to have people push her out of her comfort zone and help her get on her own two feet again. It wasnt AQ bias, it was likely just victim bias and furina bias, its like how Scaramouche has a fandom that will try to convince you everything he's touched ingame is worth a trillion mora.
Same.I thought her sq was great. She deserves every win she got.Recency bias? What recency bias? Its been like 7 months since she came out, dust has settled and she's still the most loved one.People will always be salty their fav didn't win and try to trash those who did, that's just how it is.Who cares why or what for people love her they just do.Suck it up fellas and leave the poor girl alone.
@@Fuphu and I guess you also didn't pay attention, yes she did act as a last resource to keep the play going, but she has found that her new path is not acting, but directing, just because she did it once doesn't mean she is trying to get back to it completely, but it also opens the door to maybe trying it again some time. But for the foreseeable future she is much more comfortable as the director, and we can see that in the most recent lantern rite
@@IcarusFluffle She loves acting and directing, the role of director was originally just a way for the traveller to get her help and also to ease her into getting back into her life of theatrics. Correct me if I'm wrong but Furina did infact commission and oversee some plays albeit not as intensely as the one in her story quest. I think it was on the message board infront of the opera epiclese if you spam it enough times or it was at the board near the aquabuses. NPCs or comments on the board said they really didnt wanna mess it up out of fear of upsetting furina but I cant remember who said that. Atleast she's gotten back into the groove of things especially with chlorinde's quest allowing Furina to take the role of an actress once more. Unlike Ei who went from evil to uwu in 2 seconds I'm glad furina was eased back into the acting role using the medium of directing over these few patches including the muskets and roses event.
Yes, I would have definitely voted for hers. It felt so unique, and well-paced. It had NPC involvement while still putting the focus on Clorinde. And of course, fun TTRPG mechanics!
I think another great part about it is that it featured, Furina, Navia, Lyney. In particular it felt like extra focus was given to Navia and Furina which is always good. Finally, the SQ also showcase more about the marechaussee hunters which is also great!
What makes her character so annoying is that she became the very thing she hated. Her sister died due to not getting medicine because it was overpriced and Dori didn't have the money. Now she became the very think that made her sister go to heaven. Not to mention her vile behaviour towards several characters of the game....
As a bit of a noob in the game.. what IS a hangout? I know that characters have a storyquest (some of which are necessary to continue the archon quest which kinda made me hate the character. sorry Yoimiya, you're a great person but i really wanted to get on with the main story) but i haven't read anything about hangouts.
This question was difficult for me since I don't consider any character to be "bad". Some are more complex or better written than others but none of them are what I would call bad
me look at dori. idk about that chief, she just feels like a cheap placeholder, the only reason people even know about her existence is because of the archon quest and keep loosing their 4stars to her. like her only noticeable "trait" per say being her greedy for mora does not help her case. not when she kinda fuked up kaveh, yes it was his own fault for going over budget but he did not do it for his how selfish reasons but because he respects his work. well at least thats my feeling about her
@@siliconhawk hating on dori in 4.7 is crazy. She's an amazing on-field healer for quickbloom teams with furina at c6, just a good healer overall, also gives you a decent amount of energy and her self electro application allows for some wacky teams. She's also one of the best characters in co-op if one cares about that. Personality is subjective so I'm just going to say that I, personally, like her.
Yep, which is why I decided to have the survey set up that way. At first I wanted to do a CHECKLIST (select one character), but I thought that was too boring. Dodges an important question in human behavior: how willing are people to stand by a neutral opinion even if it was heavily implied that a choice was necessary. So i kept it as a fill in the blanks and counted how many people refrained.
@@gunicorn466 sure, she's a good character... if u forget about everyone else existing, lmao. Nothing wrong in liking her personally and playing her, but don't bullshit people saying that something is better than it is. She's not good - she is playable (at c6, lol). Which is, wow, bare minimum for a playable character. The mentioning of the character performance in co-op as if it has to do anything with their power is quite funny, though, I'll give u that.
i mean we essentially know everything about him already and he's been featured in way too many lore related quests. the only real thing that could be explored with him is the abyss (which tbf does have a lot of potential) but he has a very surface level understanding and connection to it as far as we know. the torch for abyss lore will likely be passed onto skirk. and the harbingers dont rly count as his lore considering they're all different characters whose lore is their own and not childe's. i think it's fair that he wasn't featured there.
@@lum_berry111 tw: extreme tartitty brain rot maybe im too far down the childe lore rabbit hole, but he has so much lore it's crazy. basically there was an adventurer named ajax who got like... reborn as a descender or some shit he did like a ritual thing idrk i rly have no idea because genshin lore does not make sense but childe's real name is ajax and he was named after this guy. theres some notes in the narsinenedjkskejrreuz quest line that say basically "io io pan forsake yourself and dive into the abyss and u will be reborn as the holy infant" or something like that and it's related to the ajax the adventurer guy and who went into the abyss???..? UR BOy and then there's like the reincarnation theory stuff with ajax the adventurer and parsifal and that other inazuman guy and then the the the um the uh the descender theory because of the notes about manufacturing a descender with ajax the adventurer and how this all ties back to childe because of uh the uh and the um the um the uh whale breaking his constellation links to him losing his vision powers because his fate is no longer tied to this world
Personally, I think voice actors/actresses are more important than what people realise. They give the characters a soul, a spirit. And also playing in different languages (or playing on mute) could lead to a completely different experience. Personally, I enjoy playing the game in Japanese and I think the Japanese Lumine is much, much better than the English one
I feel like Dori gets disproportionally hated. it kind of reminds me of when everyone "hated" Kokomi because a few content creators didn't like her on release. people don't know why they hate dori they just know a lot of people don't like her so it feels like a 'safe' choice to not like her. she could have the same personality but given a design similar to yelan and people would defend her "greedy" personality. Barbara being the worst companion quest definitely shows some of these people only did companion quests when they first came out and never again. Maybe this could be due to people not liking her EN VA direction as well but to say is the worst is strange. It is strange how the entire community flipped their opinion on Furina after the Fontaine archon quest. I remember so many people thought she was annoying and didn't like her design at all when we first saw her and were convinced Neuvillette was the real archon until we started to get into the quest that he may be the hydro dragon instead.
Barbara being the worst story quest to this day is understandable given how annoying it used to be to reset and get all the endings. That quest made me miserable after the first playthrough. Also, those earlier quests kinda tried too hard to feel like dates but without actually pushing a relationship or having any real tension. Most were pretty bad.
It's a gacha game so it makes sense a lot of the players place more importance on physical appearance. This is why we can't get as many morally gray characters. People draw the line at greedy personalities unless very attractive.
@@Jinni-iras17514 exactly just look at Ningguang she isn't as openly greedy as Dori but when we first met her she was presented as a person that cared a lot about making money that other people hoped to get the scraps of paper she would throw out of the jade chamber to get some of her knowledge. In the story she literally tried selling off visions of dead vision holders in hopes for a profit but scrapped it once one of them lit up for her.
I will vouch that I know a pretty significant part of the fan base doesn’t like Dori because of A: her treatment of Kaveh (a fan favorite) seen in his character story and B: Her orientalist design, there’s much better threads of this on twitter but the main idea is how she seems to be solely based on Aladdin, which is known for not being the most authentic…
@@firefoxphoenix6845 Twitter threads...We'll pass on those. For sure made by the same people that have harassed the EN VA on the very same platform who *is a person of color.* She's a fantasy character given a popular fantasy design and was given an interesting twist. She's the one granting wishes. Kaveh screws himself over all the time. Kaveh "fans" should be thankful she led to him getting a vision and is now stuck with Alhaitham. Lucky he didn't get the non playable Dunyarzad treatment.
I think, personally, the best story quests in the game until 4.6 : Childe's - Yoymia's second - Dehya's - Cyno's second - Arle's - Tighnari's - Venti's those are the best in my eyes and way ahead than the rest
despite Furina being my favorite character in the game, i personally don't think she deserved best story quest(despite it being one of my favs too), i think Baizhu or Neuvillette should have won that one but it's just my opinion. also hot take here, i think Dori is a good character with a good design. people hate Dori for being greedy and wrecking Kaveh's life but i think she is well written and more on the interesting side of characters. i think people also hate her design because of cultural issues which is fair but i personally don't mind them and visually/aesthetically she looks very appealing for me, her color pallette and overall looks really tick for me.
People getting mad over "cultural issues" arent even from those cultures, the silk road was a real thing and the middle east, india and china had some very shrewd merchants. Stereotypes come from somewhere, and Dori simply represented the stereotype of shrewd middleeastern merchant.
@@Fuphu I remember the people shouting about harmful stereotypes, and hating Dori for the decisions Hoyo made. But I bet these people have never been in an Arab bazaar. I remember the first time I was in the Middle East (was in Jesrusalem in the Arabic bazaar), and I was scammed. Those merchnats are devious. XD I remember I wanted to buy a little bronze arabic lamp. And when I asked for a price, the merchant wanted to sell me it for 50 sekel. My sister came to my rescue tho, and she bartered the price down to 10. XD And this is literally done by every merchant there. They look at you, and say the highest price they think they can get away with. XD
@@pepita2437 They make prices way too high so if someone doesn’t realise they can just scam them for 20 times or more the profit. But if someone is slightly more knowledgeable and knows thats a scammy price they make it that high so you feel guilty taking the price down that much. For example if you’re gonna get a cup for 80 dirhams whilst it actually costs about 2 to 5 ish, if you barter they hope that you’ll stop somewhere around 15 to 20 and still make a huge profit. This isnt unique to the middle east or arabian countries at all as we seen in chenyu vale its a common thing to scam but its seen very often in those countries as they get alot more tourists and everything looks “exotic” to them as well as the nature of bazaars makes it likely for tourists to get chained into scam after scam whilst the people who know what they want are just walking past everyone looking for specific items and THEY recommend the price. You recommend an price below the actual cost (you make it very cheap if you feel the person is still trying to scam you and thinks you’re dumb), that way you can abuse the same tactic they do and make them feel guilty for bringing the price up more than 2x and you go like “tsk, I came here just for this one item and you’re bleeding me dry making the price almost 3 times the original” and be all mopey so they dont make the price much higher, and voila you got what you wanted at a cheaper price than buying it from a retail store. That only really applies for items, spices and fabrics tend to have a consistent price since so many people are selling them its hard to convince someone of the prices and merchants often ask “how much did they say it will cost? no way. no way they’re trying to scam you cause they see you’re not a local” and keep giving you continuously lower and lower prices in hopes to sell their big stock with huge competition. (Again if ur a local they just give you a fair price, everything as a foreigner is elevated in price hence the importance of a friend from the area or a guide).
Tbh, who doesn't love that traumatized drama queen girlfailure? And I haven't done it, but I know that those who voted for her in the Character story quests didn't do it because of the Archon Quest. Purely because of La Vaguelette. Neuvi does go brrrrrrrrrrrrrr, so he would have gotten my vote for those categories if I knew about the survey, and aside from Furina, I would have voted Itto in the perosnality category. Ryuji's already my favorite Persona 5 character, and you're telling me his VA did the same kind of personality through the voice for an adorable himbo of an oni? Sign me the fuck up! It was even either Itto or Neuvi that I would have gotten during the last rerun, and I ended with Neuvi, so it's simply the waiting game for the next Itto rerun. He's my fave non Fontainian character btw.
I mean the game barely focused on her aside from her childood flashback and her motivation to became harbringer. it seems hoyo is still gatekeeping her character focused for future plots, especially project stuzha and later story especially khaenriah considering thats the place her family tree come from. comparing her with furina and scara is really unfair for now because scara and furina's character arcs have reached the climax and are finished
Since there is a lot of talk about Furina and her story I guess I'll chime in on what I've noticed..... Furina's Quest honestly show's how quickly a community/Fandom can flip on a dime. Because when she was first introduced, and the second act, everyone was sorta not on board with her. They all said she was bratty, obnoxious, annoying, Tsundere, Petty and childish. People were really kinda "Eh" on her compared to other Archon's, while others just straight up hated her. Especially after having just spent time with Nahida was so kind and gentle but Mature. And having see how Nahida had suffered and going through her story, everyone was taken aback by Furina's appearance and her pretty cocky bold attitude. But the moment we got into the 3rd Act/quest and they saw Furina's story and how she suffered. Suddenly the tides and perception of her flipped near instantly. The entire time the Traveler and everyone was doing what they could to try and "Save" Fontaine because Furina was hiding something and they didn't know what. But everyone knowing what Furina was going through suddenly turned on the Traveler, Neuvilette and the entire cast saying they were "Wrong" for trying to force her to tell her secrets and they were horrible for ganging up on her, abusing her etc... When just before learning this information they were fully supportive of "Getting her to talk". Then came the story quest after... which I feel people blew out of proportion more than it actually was. The interaction at first with Paimon and Furina was suppose to be more "Joking" and trying to be casual like they would be with their other friends. Paimon in particular doesn't know of the past Furina suffered and was just playfully teasing her because she only knew "Actor" Furina. So everyone sorta jumped on Paimon for being an asshole/insensitive when she didn't really do anything out of character. The only thing I think that bothered me was while the Traveler only asked if Furina knew anyone else that could help them... Paimon pushed that last 1 or 2 times trying to get Furina to join them. I Think that was a bit excessive but Furina said her piece and got her point across. She was harsh as she should have been but she made it hard and clear from Paimon's pushiness. Again Paimon wasn't trying to INTENTIONALLY be an asshole, nor do I think she was one. But the fandom had already been so enamoured with Furina's suffering that even that was taken negatively. In the end Furina still took it upon herself to come help as its in her nature.... while she may have "Pretended" to be Focalor, Her genuine care and concern for her citizens was real and that showed. People were complaining the Traveler didn't do more when Furina was talking to them on Navia's ship.... but I think that was honestly for the best. The traveler themselves can't say "They understand" what she had been through because they couldn't. It was honestly for the best to just let Furina vent and talk about her problems and just LISTEN.... And as they said at least she's taking the steps to healing and overcoming her past. But for some reason people didn't like that... Overall I love Furina and her quests, and while there were some hiccups, I feel her popularity is 100% due to the final reveal of her story in Act-3 and people hating the Traveler from the second half of Act-3 and through her story quest bolstering her more.
Thankyou, I still consider her a 9.5/10 character but the fandom is just gross in how they treat her. They forgot the fact that she's responsible for deaths in poisson due to hesitating to inform the people there of the primordial water out of fear they'd overreact and information and chaos would spread. They forgot that she tried to humiliate the traveller as soon as they landed in teyvat by hoping they'd grovel rather than fight her, then tried to get us arrested. She then accused Lyney of committing the crime and doubled down and commited the "sunk cost fallacy", then used her information gathering agents to expose him and his sister for being orphans taken in by the fatui. And while she's no evil mastermind people have to remember that the traveller and Neuvillette as well as many people in fontaine including the original Oceanids had enough of her BS and were essentially forced to take action when the nation was nearly wiped off the map were it not for Neuvillette saving the entirety of the nation. Did it suck for her? absolutely, it was horrible. Was the response we had towards her uncalled for? Absolutely not, just watch people's live streams and the live chats as well as our own reactions to all her actions, she was entertaining but got on our nerves when we tried to get vital info and was acting all fine despite people dying and her nation nearly ending (from our perspective ofc, we know now that it affected her alot to the point she still thinks about it).
@@FuphuYou are saying that she is responsible for deaths in poisson because she wad hesistant etc. well SHE IS ONLY HUMAN she doesn't have the status or powerful mentality as other archons and has to suffer for many years to execute Focalor's plan now name me someone who will be able to do this. Personally for me she is best character cuz she is not perfect like some characters are which is really nice
@@kacperwrona9280 Honestly none of the characters are perfect. They all have flaw's.... And to be fair Furina is EXCEPTIONALLY strong willed given her circumstances. Especially considering she's a human and played the part of a God for 500 years hiding that secret. Again while she played a "Role" of Focalor, her genuine love and compassion for her people was indeed real. As shown that she memorized peoples names and families over several hundred years/generations despite her own personal mental anguish. The issue with the Possion situation, was Furina's lack of action even prior to the events. Yes we know she was looking into ways to prevent the disaster. For hundreds of years she searched and tried everything she could. But she did so in secret.... when she was called out by Neuvillette, instead of opening up on her investigations and working with him to find a plan to save as many as possible, "Without" having to divulge her secret. She chose to double down and pretend like everything was okay once again. Even the KNAVE was willing to put herself out there on the line to save the Nation of what she considers her home. Sure... I can understand she "Feared" Arlecchino for nearly being assassinated. Which makes sense.... but even when the Knave was actively trying to work with Furina to provide a potential solution or alternative... she did nothing but lock herself in even more. We obviously learned "Why" She couldn't say what she was or her situation... but its the fact that she continued to publically pretend everything was fine. Obviously we know that the deaths weighed INCREDIBLY heavy on her mind and soul. And took a heavy toll on her mentality. But in that moment she should have used all that knowledge she had gained over the years and consulted with Neuvillette on potential ways to begin evacuating people or start putting plans in place to save as many as possible. Its the lack of "Action" on that part that irritated people when she was confronted. Yes... she's only human, and had suffered. But even the most basic humans and even NPC's were all trying to prepare for the worse... while Furina kinda at least "Publicly" did fuck all. I mean there was just a mass loss of life and instead of confronting the issue or having even Neuvilette make some sort of statement.... she goes to a PLAY and tries to pretend as if everythings okay or will just "Work itself out". She didn't issue a statement, she didn't show any open remorse or console to those who lost loved ones. So in their eyes and the fandom's eyes in that regard, she "Failed" not just as an Archon, but as a "Leader". And in the eyes of the Characters it was a flagrant show of arrogance, and lack of care for their lives that she "on the surface" just didn't seem to care. And then tried to play it off.... The survivors of Possion and possibly other area's affected by the main flood are rightfully angry and may never truly forgive her, and for good reason. In their eyes their "God" failed them, didn't protect them, didn't console them, and didn't even acknowledge their plight. Honestly considering how things played out in the end.... its a miracle and blessing that Furina's past deeds held so much weight over 500 years, otherwise the back-lash and disdain towards her from her followers would have been even greater. Again no one is hating Furina or saying she's "Evil" Or uncompassionate.... But there was much that she SHOULD have done and COULD have done within her power that could have saved lives. She was still seen as the "Archon" of Fontaine, and if she wanted something done, all she had to do was say a word and it would have been done without question.
@@kacperwrona9280 I guess 9.5/10 is considered a bad rating and me talking shit about the character. I was simply justifying the fact that people had many GOOD REASONS to dislike her and force her onto the trial, even aside from the fact that its literally FATED. But excuse me, my rating of 9.5/10 clearly means that I think she has a weak will, also means I forgot how to read and didnt realize that she's just a human etc etc. Thanks for proving my point with the white knighting
@@Fuphu Furina defense squad captain here. I don't think she's perfect but your points don't hold water. 1. The traveler situation was the first indication of the truth, because while grandiose she was very amicable towards us (probably hoping to befriend us so we wouldn't cause chaos or even so we could help wiht the prophecy) until the people deluded themselves into thinking there was gonna be a duel. For reasons we now know, she had to go with the crowd, banking on the outcome that we aren't a crackhead who'd fight a god at the drop of a hat and that the duel issue could be handwaved aside. When we were shown to be ready to throw hands, she had to salvage the situation somehow and the arrest was the only way. 2. Lyney situation was similar, she had to take charge and show that the god of Fontaine can't be blindsided by a murder right in her court. She didn't think Neuvilette would take her words as a charge and was gonna back down until, again, the crowd expected her not to. And she legitimately did believe he was the murderer since in her inner monologue she realizes only later that our arguments hold water and she might've accused an innocent person. 3. Furina is not a civil planner or gifted administrator. She knows this and has built her persona so that those duties are given to actually competent people in those fields. It's been stated by multiple people that Furina almost never concerns herself with the matters of state so nobody expected her to have an emergency plan for the flooding. Everyone was caught off guard by the Poisson incident since it was so fast and sudden, and it wasn't really her responsibility. All Furina knows is that as long as she does what Mirror Me said, everyone will be saved. Since she wasn't exposed at that point, she had no reason to believe an actual disaster would strike as it goes against everything she's believed in for the last 500 years. Focalors deliberately misled her by saying "everyone will be saved as long as you can play the part" and all of Furina's research showed that there is absolutely no way to influence the prophecy other than Mirror Me's miracle. Focalors probably deliberately choose her words to make Furina even more unprepared and desperate when shit starts going down, to increase the people's discontent and make sure she ends up in a court case she can't win. This really isn't on Furina, she did her part perfectly.
Dehya is unironically an S-tier character, and probably the one Standard option I wouldn't mind losing a 50/50 to. Her passive healing makes Dragonspine and other such areas a joke, her damage is respectable enough for overworld content (which is 99% of the content, let's be honest), she has a speed buff, can smash rocks, is a good option for the Bell, her design is amongst the best in the game, and she's story-relevant too.
This is why this confuses me because despite all the banter from Deyah haters. They always say that they don't mind losing their 50-50 to her. You know despite all the banter about her kit and her damage. Which makes it seem so contradictory to me. I feel like people are just frustrated and can't move on. But also she is easily targeted because of echo chambers and streamers/RUclipsrs. Because she genuinely isn't nearly as bad as a lot of other characters in this game. She has utility and massive amounts of utility which one all the players like playing abyss and have to focus primarily on damage when they can't use a character they liked to clear something and show off they get frustrated. Which is why I really want her to make another survey but specifying abyss versus casual play more and excluding archons.
2:33 the results surprised me cuz I tried to be super straightforward (answering in one word one cap letter format) cuz I filled it like a school survey lmaoo
I feel like excluding the Archons or at least showing us who the non-Archon choices were would have helped get a clearer idea of people's actual perceptions, people are naturally going to have a bias towards Archons and recent characters
This survey doesn't have any limitations, that was the point of the methodology. A completely neutral survey that's meant to find out if certain trends exist, and now I have my answer; the mediating variable of recency bias
@@ChillwithAsterwell not to be snarky if that was your point then you could have kind of just looked up people's opinions in general? Because a lot of your research that you collected was all a lot of things that have been said billions of times over. Especially about the archons. I actually highly agree with that one aspect from OP. It would be nice if you did another one but excluding the archons. Because this wasn't really that useful of data. I promise I'm not trying to be an ass. It would be awesome if you made a vid in that aspect with that ONE restriction.
Thing with Ayatos SQ is that even Thoma commented that Ayato did his job behind the shadows by putting us in focus because we got attention which he wanted to avoid. He's a public figure yes but like Yelan he does things in the shadows away from attentions and he himself doesn't have issues he needs to solve, so instead we see how he solves other issues. We get to see how he handles government situations and we got a look into why he's the way he is at the end when he tells his past. We get to see why he's trusted by Ei to hold the position that he has and how he is able to maintain it while also being told just how much he cares for his sister, his last family member and why he values Thomas loyalty. I love Ayatos story quest also cause we got the funny line from Paimon "Marriage is such a trap" 😂
Same. I personally voted Ayato's. The scheming, political intrigue, and Ayato's masterful tactics from behind the scenes was shown out in the open all throughout his SQ, despite it revolving heavily on the NPC's. Plus it's not like the NPC's were just random folks but were actually established to be important, and has had interactions with the traveler during AQ and other events.
@@kiel127 I would also like to say Hiiragi Chisato and Kujou Kamaji were used excellently as foil characters to Ayato. Hiiragi Chisato remaining as the last standing pillar of her clan is very similar to Ayato's position when he was younger, and Kamaji recently clawing his way out of that position after his duel with the Shogun. It makes Ayato's role in the SQ that much more meaningful since he's trying to prevent Chisato from suffering a similar outcome, while also reinforcing her position in the Hiiragi Clan.
@@-Genki because Ayato was once in her situation he knows the feeling of not having someone to trust amongst people who wants you gone. He gave her help not only in strengthening her position and self confidence but also in a reminder that she's not alone, she has people who she can trust that can help her. That's something Ayato didn't have. Also we get that dango milk moment and his reasoning for testing new flavors rather then sticking to what he can already expect. Also his line to Chisato about how marriage should be a beautiful thing to celebrate not a bittersweet occasion can also explain why he hasn't found one, also cause it would put them in danger. There's so many details you can unpack and piece together not only from how he thinks but also to how he behaves and people who don't like his Sq clearly doesn't know how to read between the lines.
Tbh I use ayato's sq to judge whether someone understand politics or not. I once worked in legislation, lots of dangerous politicians do act like ayato. They know how to "trap" their enemies without their enemies realizing they're being trapped And as long as ppl find ayato's character boring, the more our democracy is controlled by machiavellian people
@@whatismyadjectiveiconfused agreed and Ayato is a very intriguing character because of how he behaves and handles matters around him, he's very efficient!
Furina’s story quest winning has got to be archon quest bias. It was extremely controversial because of the way traveler and Paimon acted towards Furina (Furina’s writing and the final cutscene were great but everything else was just…painful to get through)
it was uninteresting imo, but people like her enough to forget about it. also that cut scene and her getting the vision was cool so there is that. and considering its been like 4 or 5 patches since then i doubt we can call it recency bias.
I think the main reason why it won was the last part of SQ. The singing was phenomenal! Also I think survery did not include Chlorinde SQ, which is also amazing.
@@siliconhawk I mean she’s amazing and so was the cutscene, but the rest of the quest was actually pain. When I say recency bias I mean the fact that the most recent archon quest was about her (Interlude doesn’t count since it was released after the survey and didn’t have any playable characters), and I think people are conflating the two as well
@@Penano96 Of course, the cutscene was amazing but a lot of story quests had amazing cutscenes. I do think bias towards Furina, as well as the story of the archon quest changed the results. Furina is an amazingly written character but her SQ wasn’t, despite the cutscene being amazing. The AQ with Furina’s story in it was definitely a factor
@@levi3248 Agreed, I managed to stay 70% awake during the whole Aranara quest and yet I struggled to give an F 90% of the story, and the connections between the previous leader of the acting troupe having an suspiciously similar story was apparently just coincidence which was strange asf. The parts that were good were really good, but I was honestly too exhausted when I reached the cutscene to have an epic youtube thumbnail esque reaction
Would be interesting to know how many people have actually done all the hangouts. I only did Noelle's to test out the system, and never tried any of the others.
I'm surprised more people HAVEN'T done the hangouts. With how lore hungry the community is, you'd think they'd be eating that shit up. Or at the very least, do it for the Freemogems.
@@Lampent12 For me, at least, they just feel too time-consuming. They don't tend to have important lore and you only get 60 primos after doing the same story 5-6 times. Plus, they're hidden in multiple layers of menus, so I keep forgetting they even exist.
I'm surprised not more people are doing the hangouts. If nothing else, it's easy Primos, but I am one of the weirdos that actually play Genshin for the plot, so what do I know? 🤷
My main teams contain Dehya, Amber, Qiqi, Noelle, Collei, Keiqing... I recently crowned Amber and am currenlty preparing to triple crown Noelle. I have a lvl 20 Nahida and a lvl 40 Raiden just sitting in my roster for almost a year. Haven't gotten to play them yet cuz in Gensihn EVERY character is fun if you use him/her right and if you don't care about max numbers. I do have the Hu Tao vaporize team, but I use it only when I wanna get rid of boring bosses fast. It's not fun to kill everything that moves in 2 sec.
Honestly, I feel Dori, Xinyan, and Dehya are VERY scapegoated or relentlessly targeted/ignored throughout their respective times in the game. It's almost like voters listened to a CC talk about them and basically went full on Kokomi on said characters just because (actually, I'm honestly shocked that neither of these characters' VAs got unwarranted hate - not to say it's right at *that* time, of course). The vitriol that appeared on their respective showcase/analysis/any video where they just appeared were and still pretty much in the aim-for-the-jugular category. Even some players that enjoy the characters don't speak up for said characters for fear of backlash (unfortunately, Amber/Noelle mains fit this category to...fellow maid knight enjoyers where y'all at?!). Actually, I'm also surprised Candice is never mentioned in design. Her design is good and she's fun to play.
Since I don’t want to fill up another comment slot and I missed the survey, I’d like to play along still. 1. Visual Design (best/worst) Dehya / Furina (Dehya flows and glows and overall looks cool yet dangerous. Hot af but not someone I’d want to piss off. Furina…maybe I just wanted a longer coat or hair, idk. something is missing and I can never point it out in my head. Compared to the other archons, she looks better of the currents right beside Ei. But, bland compared to non-archons.) 2. Combat Design (best/worst) Keqing / Neuvillette (Hehe, zippy zappy…her normal-charge combo is really fun to do. Water dragon can screw off though. If I wanted a “gun it down” play style, I’d just play Nikke) 3. Personality (best/worst) Fischl / Ganyu (chuunibyou characters make me smile, it also makes sense for Fischl, as most big words she spew out are German, a common language used with chuuni lingo and Germany, I believe, is what Mondstadt is based off…backstory is also a tearjerker and Oz is best bird, his translating is perfect for someone who can’t understand a darn thing that comes out of his fräulein’s mouth. Can’t like too many characters if her only traits are cute voice, pretty, and hardworking. Like, do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?…oh she sleeps? That makes two and a quarter of them.) 4. Story Quest (best/worst) Noelle / Nilou (Noelle’s quest has a OPM reference and she’s practically a superhuman sweetheart that wants to be a knight someday…c’mon Jean. Nilou’s quest was boredom incarnate and she wasn’t even the main focus, it was some other girl and her damn father…dance scene was pretty though.) 5. Lore Potential: Paimon…not a “character”, per se, so might be cheating. But, I feel there’s something about her that Hoyo will throw at us from left field during either Natlan or sometime after. 6. Future Character: Jeht. She has so much going for her in the story while just being an NPC…Hoyo please
Yes I love the knight. But also yeah almost every person I know who plays always says that Candice had the best character design or at least one of the top three or five in genshin. It's clear that this survey lacked reach which is understandable.
Would love to see the data gathered from a different sect of the community. Maybe a Cosplayer or Artist fan base Personally i like Ayatos Quest people like to shit on NPC's but they actually exist in the world. There the constant and react to the changes Like Chisato and Kamajis Marriage have far more implications then anything we could get from Ayato People watch CC's they relate to so in a way it feels like if Aster filled it out herself. That "Dehya was done Dirty" comment stood out like it was less a reflection of her gameplay and more to its drama Thats what i kind of see Players who arent fully committed but still heavily engaged with the Meta People who enjoy the Lore but dont put to much emphasis on Story Content (So if you asked them about the Freminet Event they probably couldnt tell you what actually happened) A reverence for the Archon Quest or Content they see as relevant and a disregard for anything else Like im pretty sure if you added "How do you feel about Endgame" You wouldn't get the nuanced takes you normally find online. Probably a good 80-95% that will say there all for more of it Which i wouldnt find reflective of how a good portions of people feel despite what CC's say TLDR its informative but mostly how Aster usually describes as her own Genshin experience Which makes sense your more engaged with people who share similar thoughts
well then the stuff in ayato's quest should have been made into a world quest or something. yes NPC exists but they are not valuable to the character quests. like in venti's quest we spent quite a lot of time with stanlee but at the end of the quest we valued venti and his experiences more than stanlee himself, we like him and understand stanlee but that does not steal the thunder from venti. the NPCs should be a medium to tell the character's story not the reason for the story. that's my personal feeling about that. also dehya was done dirty i dont even remember any drama tbh other than " hurrr dehya bad she 4star wuth 5star tag hurr". its not about the drama its about how they plays. i still remember raiden getting dissed on her release because she did not work with beidou and kokomi getting the tag of 5star barbara. dehya is still not a fun to play character her skill gives armor but it does not last the entire duration of skill, her ultimate is useless. another such character would be qiqi there are just fundamental problems with their kit that is them not adding anything of value or being interesting or unique like childe's or alhaitam's
I considered Venti , Ayaka & Ei SQ 2 are top 3 for me It’s personally fav because those three shares same concept that is Parallelism which I personally like
That dehya in gameplay is seen as so negative is pretty normal same goes for xinyan given that they both fall into the same niche. A combo of offensive and defensive, the issue being that hoyo overvalued their defensive so much that they have little to no direct offense of note left.they are too spread out in what they do. They can shine in very niche teams but compared to the more applyable units like zhongli or xingqiu its hard for them to be seen as worthwhile at all. Mind you I been maining and using dehya since her release and i have found a good few teams where she is irreplaceable as her specific skillset makes the teams i want to use even possible or reasonable to be used if i dont want to visit reset city all day. But those are the exceptions as said not the rule.
Actually same here! This is kind of off topic and this team isn't used for abyss at all even though I'm tempted to see how it would work. But if you have Klee, Pink Fox Lady, any character and deyah. She gives awesome utility and coverage for a really cool firework overload team. It's extremely fun holy crap You have to try it.
4:59 WHAT DO YOU MEAN DORI NOOOOOOOOOOO people have no taste for gremlin characters Surprising dehya as worst combat design, even more seeing xinyan right next (sorry for my baby but she's bad bad). it might be because people wanted a dps 5* and we got a hybrid tank support with low element aplication. in my opinion, dehya is good when you have a deep understanding of the game. taking that in consideration, it's obvious why neuvillette came to 1st place, it's a "no thoughts" canon blast. layla's hangout is my personal favorite (mostly because she's my everything). after having studied a bit of psychology, i'm surprised of the very strong evidence of her condition, and how no one is talking about it. She has clear signs of dissociative identity disorder. i know some people with it and the moment they saw layla' story they related strongly with it, they take it as very good representation. Also noelle having two hangouts makes her the real boss here. what? yoimiya has two story quests? pff that's nothing. (((it's a joke guys please don't get mad))) okay listen, we will get a mondstadt expantion in the future, we will know more about the mondstadt army in the north. things will get very hardcore i can feel it. if they don't do anything with noelle i swear to god i'll go to myhoyo's office and scream.
Dehya was picked as the worst because of the questionable design decisions. For example, the interruption resistance on her skill is less than its duration and the particle generation is low. Dori haters are irrational. Nothing new
Dehya's ult feels janky, was designed to not synergize with other characters, and its field uptime makes no sense for the support/sub-dps role that would have made sense for Dehya to play. As a support her knockdown resist is annoyingly brief until c2, and her ult is largely just dead weight. I'm a skilled player and have used my c3 Dehya quite a bit, I understand her functionality , but she's not a well designed character
Cynos 2nd story quest was about the best thing I’ve witnessed in Genshin, literally the longest fight scene in the game and 6 mins of cutscenes in total and it was very suspenseful not one dull moment. Too bad so many are skipping it due to bias
i'm so glad i could participate in this, it was fun thinking about exactly why i liked the characters i did also of course furina won a majority of these, but dori catching a whole bunch of strays was disheartening even if i don't necessarily like her
I think the Dori hate is because she's morally questionable (a loan shark, who specifically ripped off Kaveh, a much more popular character) and doesn't have the edgy coolness or redeeming qualities of others in that category like Raiden or Childe. She's also rarely used in combat; Kuki already fills the electro-healer slot and is way better for hyperbloom.
@@kimarimoi I'm so confused by the fact most people don't like characters if they're morally wrong. What's stopping them from being entertaining characters despite that ?????
Recency bias as well as this gross thing that people do when characters or humans are victims, where they baby them and treat them as infallable and perfect and that the whole world failed them and that you cant talk to them like a human and you have to talk to them like a wild baby puppy, keeping a low tone, always calm, and nice to them. The internet cannot fathom the fact that victims want to be treated normally and not like some object for others to carry around and protect and get offended on their behalf. Furina's one of the best characters for sure but the Furina story quest was in my humble opinion a solid 6/10 with most of the enjoyment coming from little hints and similarities in the play to her irl story + the cutscene. I as a person who talks to pretty much every npc and remembers almost everything (Including Hosseni from the academia who didnt appear in sumeru despite giving us a reccomendation letter to the academia smh), even I barely remember anything about her quest other than "acting troupe had leader get killed, her story is similar to furina, they sing and she gets vision"
@@FuphuThe reality is people are most likely going to like story quests that focus on their favorite character. I personally don't think her story quest was the best writing wise from an objective standpoint, but it's good enough and features furina so it's my favorite quest
The only thing I liked about Furina's story quest was La Vaguelette, and I hated the Traveller and Paimon more during that Story Quest like why can't you just let Furina live her life. The Traveller relationship with Furina was forced. It would make more sense if we were playing as Neuvillette pushing his schedule out of the way to approach Furina and pushing her unto the stage again but no, Furina somehow was depicted as a close acquaintance of the Traveller when she was actually one the Travellers victims. Overall, I like the message portrayed by Furina's Story Quest. But it will still not top Yoimiya Story Quest about Fireworks.
Choosing who were the "worst" characters in this survey was very hard for me, as I like all the characters in this game. Some more than the other. ...And I didn't know you could leave certain questions blank 😅
He's boring. Incredibly so. Obviously so. No drip No animations No personality No flair Nothing at all. Seeing him on the screen causes people to fall asleep. The only thing he has is his Atk buff, making him the only playable non character - he's basically a food.
he has the worst color palette in the game imo it's so boring. it's very very muted and doesn't really do his peppy personality justice. i also find him kind of annoying from his voice and personality but that's a me thing. his outfit is also incredibly uninteresting even for four star characters. if i didn't know who he was i would easily believe he's an npc.
There's basically nothing wrong with it, it's actually one of the designs that's more story-based and lore reliant to make sense. The other comments saying why most likely didn't read his story at all.
For some reason, other than recency bias, I feel some echo chamber too here. When I see the result, I don't feel surprised at all, because it's always been talked. Which is the best or the worst etc etc, it's something that also talked by "content creator". So I feel there's a bias of which character is most talked about positively or negatively in english speaking community
As a psych student who often deals with statistics, I felt that data collection struggle so badly 😂 Love this type of video! It's fascinating to see academic research being applied to my hobbies
8:17 not to be rude but people did, in fact, mention xianyun's story quest in the honorable mentions so i'll just assume you missed this part (or wanted her to get the best which to me, i think is also valid bcs i liked her SQ too)
Jeez kudos for you for shifting through that data. Can’t really understand Neuvilette rated high for being fighting design, but I suppose people like firing their lazier. Can’t deny the numbers but it seems so… boring to me.
I'm surprised by the contenders for worst design. For me Mika is nothing to write home about, but I wouldn't say he's the worst. Can someone tell me what they dislike about Dori's design? How'd Dori get the worst vote for design when, in my opinion Tighnari exists.
Furina being voted as having the best story quest is... interesting. It's probably just cause of miscommunication cause there's no way it got voted the best otherwise
Am I the only one that thinks whether a story quest is good or bad has nothing to do with NPC focus all of my favorite ones has heavy NPC and they are awesome.
if the survey had been done after clorinde’s story question was released I’m sure it would’ve won. Most fun I’ve ever had with one hands down no contest
what if you do this on NPC characters too, like best villain, support, voice acting, lore impact etc. haha probably the grand sage azar would be one of the most hated one
I’m such a contrarian idk what’s wrong with me lol cus I love Ayato and Nilou’s story quest. I’m biased cus my fav show is Game of Thrones and house of cards so political drama is my shit, and Nilou makes me love her more the more haters she has. Players hate her and the Akademya constantly trying to ruin her life yet she dance all over these haters like the unbothered queen she is while helping people.
The Ayato quest imo was just barely 5.5/10 imo but the Nilou one was great being a 7.5 or 8/10. The cultural significance it had for people from those regions as well as to those who have family issues meant so much.
Best story quest by far was baizhu. It's actually one of the reasons I actually pulled for him and the story is so sad and cool and the dude is a badass
Dori hate will always perplex me and feel a bit much. It really shows some characters can get away with stuff if they’re made to be attractive because nobody really brings up the amount or lack or representation Al Haitham brings with his design. Not to mention his own “personality quirks” Then there’s fact a good proportion of players didn’t actually look into Kaveh’s lore to learn Dori didn’t scam him out of his house and actually appreciates projects asked by her. 💀
Yes, she did not scam Kaveh out of his house. But she raised the interest rates on Kaveh's debt after he pissed her off, and destroyed the diadem (which was a dick move, and in some countries it's outright illegal depending on the contracts) She scammed multiple other people tho. Like people who are vulnerable. For ex, she scammed Itto (who we know is not the smartest tool in the shed), scammed Layla (selling her overpriced medicine), trying to sell Collei overpriced drinks (Tighnari was there and stopped her tho) She made a business out of selling illegal knowledge capsules, which she knows will cause permanent brain damage after a time (this is one of the reasons knowledge capsules are so tightly controlled by the Akademiya) Her thought process is identical to the average drug dealer. She sold products which are highly addictive, and detsroy human brains, but she didn't really care. She only left the knowledge capsule business because other people started selling too, which ment competition. She also kind of manipulated Kaveh into working for free, by omitting information during his hangout. Dori is very scammy, but she is not a criminal. I undersatnd why people hate her tho. Also a lots of people hate Alhaitham, and believe he is abusive. XD Which he is not. He is a very private aloof character, who doesn't go out of his way to help everyone, but he will help the people who are close to him. Like he helped tutor Collei, gave her his prized books, helped out Cyno, and Kaveh. During the main quest he offered himself up as a hostage to the Eremites, so his teammates can go free. Also, Alhaitham is a huge troll, and not a lots of people will realize this. He goes out of his way to buy ugly furniture to annoy Kaveh. During the parade of Providence event we saw that that's his strategy to help Kaveh deal with his depression. (there was 2 endings where we could tell Kaveh that his father died because the influence of Sachin Depending on how/who tells him he falls into a very sad mood, or gets annoyed. If Alhaitham is the one telling him this, he will start to annoy Kaveh intentionally, and Kaveh ends up annoyed, and they start an ideologycal debate. But if the traveler is the one Kaveh ends up in a very dark/depressed mood)
@@pepita2437 So this is a little a little disingenuous. Dori didn’t scam Layla. She thought she was rich because of her clothes and is the only person who has remedies that help and actually keeps them in stock whenever Layla decides to drop by. Tighnari prevented Collei from buying pricey resources. There’s a quest in game where Dori literally tells us she stopped selling forbidden knowledge because she learned it can hurt people which never leads to anything good as a merchant in terms or reputation or consequences no matter the price. Dori redid the trade route system in Sumeru for everyone because the old one dangerous. Paid out of pocket for a project involving helping kids, and the reason she doesn’t pay Kaveh is because he owes her money that he himself asked for after ruining her house by not listening. Dori didn’t ask for a palace. She wanted something out of the way and quiet, but he wanted to make a masterpiece. She paid for the materials and brought up how he was too close to building near the Withering but he didn’t listen; only for the Withering to spread and ruin everything beyond repair. Dori tried canceling the entire project but he begged her to let him keep working so she told him that she isn’t paying for material a second time. Kaveh then took it upon himself to sell his house for money (which wasn’t enough because he refused to compromise on the material he wanted) then asked Dori to pay for the rest as a loan, which is the debt he owes. She will not directly pay that man commissions any chance she gets but took on being his benefactor and he is the first person she recommends to other people looking for architects so he can make a living. Dori is by no means a perfect person but she’s not actively trying to ruin lives by any means and has no issue taking a financial hit for community progression. If she actually a bad person, Kaveh wouldn’t associate with her in business.
@@jonathanrobinson198 "she doesn’t pay Kaveh is because he owes her money" This is a separate business transaction tho, and it has nothing to do with Kaveh's debt tho. She could have told him that she won't pay him for designing the library in Aaru village, since he is indebted to her. She could have just reduced Kaveh's debts by the amount Kaveh's library design did worth. Insted she omitted information, and tricked him into doing the work for free. Look up a video of Kaveh's hangout, his conversation with Dori. Also, she did scam people, by overpricing her items, hich btw doesn't always work the way she claimed to do (like Itto's drum) She tried to scam Collei, by trying to sell her overpriced drink after Collei came froma patrol, very thirsty. Tighnari stopped her tho. But this illustrates that Dori does overprice her items, and looks out for people who are vulnerable at the moment and would pay more for it than it actually worth. In Layla story was mentioned that the medicine she sold was overpriced, tho it did work. Overpriced means that she asked a higher amount of money which it worth, an Layla could have bough that same medicine from someone other than Dori for cheper.
@@pepita2437 Accepting blatantly overpriced things is on the buyer. They can always refuse. The itto drum situation was not specific enough to say it was Dori, but let's not forget in the words of Paimon, "You extorted 80 grand from your gang members". It was 70 grand but you don't hear people hating on Itto for this. It's played off as comedy. Same for many Dori moments
@@Jinni-iras17514 Accepting blatantly overpriced things is on the buyer And this is why she choses people who are vulnerable, desperate, or stupid. Like Itto is stupid everyone knows it, Collei was deserately thirsty while Dori tried to sell her her overpriced drink, Layla actually had an illness, and we all Know that how stupid Kaveh can be (she maipulated him during his hangout to work for free by omitting infrmation, a very important one, the identity of the client) Dori tried to scam even us, she sold us overpriced Desert kits (one million two hundred, and fifty thousand mora, which is so otrageously overpriced), which were billed to Cyno. SInce he was the one who led the investigation. Cyno just arrested Dori. XD
I didn’t know about this survey but I still want to share my thoughts. I’ve been playing since the second week the game released and kinda recently hit AR60 as of late 2023 Visual Design -Candace is my favorite but Wanderer or Aether are close right behind.they look like 6 stars if that’s ever a thing -Worst is Xinyan because the vertical lines on her shoes are too disturbing for some reason Combat -I LOVE Haizou for his punchy fighting style and his hard hitting skill is the most satisfying thing in the game -The worst is Neuvillette because his levitation animation reminds me of Halo 3 forge mode instead of actual levitation Story quest and Hangouts -I know this is more recent than the survey but Arlecchino is my favorite as far as the ones I remember. I love what happened at the end -The worst is Ayatos because I did it but I REALLY don’t remember it at all -The hangout quest I have no answer because I zipped through most of them for primos but Sayus was adorable and why I adore her so much Personality -It’s extremely close between Fischl and Furina because they are similar but I do like Fischl slightly more. IDK why I just love their personality The worst one is by far Hu Tao only because she always terrorizing Qiqi whom I love so much… she even has her own jail cell in my teapot Potential in Future Patches -I want to say Wanderer. I believe he will have a huge part in helping the traveler face the Fatui Anticipated Unplayable Character -My most anticipated unplayable character right now is Skirk because YES! My own bonus, Top 5 Overall Favorite 5. Venti or Candace depends on the position of the sun 4. Traveler 3. Wanderer 2. Furina 1. Fischl Also if I saw the option that just said “Character” I would’ve probably clicked that not for significance but because it seems odd and I like causing chaos 😂
I really think clorinde has one of (if not the) best story quest. It was fun, engaging, interesting, and i actually didnt feel like i was doing a chore when i did the quest! Also if i were to do smth for the character with the best lore i would honestly choose wanderer. Idk how to describe it...
Recency bias played a factor, but furina, hutao, klee, certain characters not necessarily eccentric but made by narrative to be expressive by extension give off alot of their personality, which is really reaaaaaaaaally overlooked I'd say I don't hate any characters for their personality but someone like zhong, neuv, or kazuha who don't get very "human" (zhongli has lore and history behind him at least) with you makes it hard to enjoy, since there's almost nothing to enjoy character design with almost every genshin character hits, I'm pretty sure anyone who says they feel a char has a "bad design" is just looking for things to hate, I understand sh can be subjective but at the very least to the most baseline note every character has synergy in their outfit infact, I'm completely shocked people can say dori is unlikeable because she has bad looks, like, tf? her clothes, animations, background and aesthetique are all goated, and even if overtly scimpish with money isn't the best character trait, she's expressive enough that she makes for a fun character, if anything she should be the sleeper in this survey her literal only issue is that her kit sucks
personally (I'm sad I missed the survey) my order of priority would be: Design [practically always up to par] -- > Acc Value (specifically in tandem with current funds and near future chars) --> Nicheness/Unique-ity (someone like burning enabler or xianyun goes high on list just because of this) --> Character traits (personality, basically) --> Kit quality (eg Dehya and Siegewinne are no's, but I'd take itto since he's decent enough and I don't have a geo dps), --> little things (voice, fun team synergies, "do I have a good weapon?", stories, f10 banner, etc etc)
And as always, i missed the survey. Because no one told me and i didn't see it myself, of course Upd: was there Aether/Lumine as an option? I think combat design for Hydro MC could get easy top-3 and probably even top-1 🤔 Upd2: why so much people voted for Itto personality being good and Dori being bad? I mean, Itto on the base level (his story quest alone, maybe plus any one event), but we saw him going down for many years now. Writers just don't know what to do with Itto, and because of that always regress to below the starting point, with a single exception of Akitsu Kimodameshi event. Rememer that kid with dead parents who stayed in Liyue? Great, because Itto already forgot!
2:41 Im debating whether or not that long one about Wanderer is mine (I dont remember, but I specifically know I wrote something about him and his Scaramouche design versus his Wanderer design), regardless, if it is mine, I am cringing so bad because what- (just in case if its someone elses, the cringe part is mainly coming from the fact that I think I wrote it lol) This is so random why did i type this
if it helps (and if you really think that it was yours), there's no need to feel cringe bcs from the little excerpt we got there, i really like the interpretation and comparison for both of his outfit colours ! now you're tempting me to do a deeper dive into this gremlin (if only work wasnt too demanding 😪) also i understand the feeling, it does feel cringe sometimes to see ourselves gushing over something trivial, but i think its wonderful that people express their love towards characters and their designs :) (sorry i got into a tangent there 😭)
The worst designed combat for a character is aloy not dehya you are all wrong! Honorable mentions being hydro and electro traveler but they’re not limited time and actually have constellations. From here on I’ll list aloys issues. Skill cd is 20s you have to hit the enemies with little bombs to get atk boost and cryo infusion but you have to hit 4 out of 6 but if you hit them in less then .1 seconds apart you just won’t get a stack not to mention this playstyle is pretty single target oriented. Now I’ll teach you some supplemental ways to use aloy intuitively, sacrificial bow for skill reset (she doesn’t need energy tho) and sucrose (alternative being anemo traveler jean and kazuha won’t work well here because they will suck the bombs too hard and you’ll lose stacks) also chongyun work well cause he actually lowers skill and burst cds :D I’ve also heard furina works well with aloy. Now some things that are inherently good about aloy she doesn’t agro boar or scare birds :) her burst has a short cd and really high burst dmg scaling (pretty sure her skill also has some high dmg on initial impact but the aoe is smaller). Her infusion is incredibly satisfying if you actually pull it off too even if it’s not that impressive it’s a “YES!” Moment and you don’t have to invest any energy into her cause she has a 40 cost burst. Ty for reading this all if you did I just really wanna see more aloy havers become aloy users and be awesome for using probably the worst character
Jean and Kaz are better than Sucrose at grouping bomblets lol. Sucrose runs into the issue of... Not doing that. It takes a bit of practice, and they did kinda buff bomblet mechanics with Kirara's release. You don't just get Atk from her bomblets, you get a bunch of NA dmg% meaning pairing her with Song of Days Past, Yunjin or Shenhe is very good. The Furina Aloy thing isn't real. It was a perceived synergy but you get the same experience not doing anything with Furina at all. Humble plug - I've done plenty of videos on Aloy as one of the 45 Aloy Mains in the world.
@@KategariYami from my experience when I used kazuha and Jean with aloy it messes up the bomb stacks a lot of the time and doesn't leave much leeway for the 0.1s you need in between stacks I've run out bombs being left with 2-3 stacks on an aloy built for cryo DMG and main DPS I'd say out of the 2 Jean doesn't ruin your stacks as often as you can just position yourself by the enemies and hold e. I like sucrose cause she has 2 skill casts and her ult also has some suction power. If aloy didn't have stack issues I'd say jean and kazuha are better options especially if your jean is c2 cause that normal attack speed buff would pair VERY well with your skill plus great healing. I just wish aloy could get stacks with her CA's or sumn I also wish I had r5 sacrificial bow so my aloy could have more consistent uptime on her e
Idea: What if you create a similar questionnaire, but ask people to rank their top 10 characters from the category? You could then give different points to each rank when adding them up (ie 10 for first rank, 9 for second). I think it might help get a clearer idea of what people like and see past the hype for characters like furina
Im less interested in who people like but rather "who would people choose if they HAD to only choose one", which forces the ultimatum in both angles. A top 10 question-structure though is something I might use in the future to explain another variable.
@@ChillwithAster Another angle to take is to simply make people rate all characters (or simply their top N and label everyone else with 0) from 1 to 5 (can include half integer for more accuracy) and then perform SVD or FA on the data. The categories will naturally emerge without the need to explicitly state them. The rating is holistic so that we could measure each person's bias. The downside is, it takes more work to interpret the results with this method. i.e. for SVD, if you have the hypothesis that recency bias exist, you have to manually find if an eigenvalue corresponding to recent characters exist and that it has a high value if it does. FA is a bit easier to interpret, i.e. if you find the most significant factor being positively related to one gender and negatively related to the other, now you know that gender is the deciding factor for people's pulls.
Lore and attention-wise, Hoyo has a certain sympathetic position towards characters helping against depression (anti-depressants). Therefore, they prioritize characters like the filler queen Hu Tao, the pure-hearted Furina, the infectiously positive and charismatic Itto, and the only character with a fandisc (chapter 2 character quest) - Yoimiya.
@@Marz333Thing is that they were talking about story quests, not about the specific lore behind the character itself. Furina hasn't an excellent story quest to be frankly honest, but yeah her design and writing are the best in the game (design is subjective tho)
I know the feeling. I remember back when FFVII was originally released in 1997, between then and now people would run surveys similar to this that involved adding FFVII to the list, and Sephiroth would win nearly everything every time, to the point they had to remove the game from the list.
Neuvillette deserves more love, people don’t seem to realize that Hoyo has given us a playable Dragon Sovereign aka the strongest being in their element
Bewildered Zhongli was hilarious, but Qiqi's only plot relevance was the cocogoat hunt. In the end, her backstory essentially revolves around a little kid dying, and that's gonna be brutal.
“yall cool with your girl making more money than yall? Ladies, yall cool wi-“ **HOYOVEEERSE** DROP VENTIS ACT 2 CHARACTER QUEST AND MY LIFE.. IS YOURS.
I quit Genshin years ago. So expected to see people I'm not that familiar with dominate the boards. However I'm legit surprised Hu Tao wasn't on the personality list. how can people not adore Hu Tao? how?!
I honestly don't think Dehya is the worst kit to play by far. I have a few good units and she's surprisingly one of my better Units. Mainly because I built her a bit "Differently" than the standard type of build. But it seems to work and she does some pretty decent damage. If I had to pick the worst Character combat wise.... *Wince* I love her... but its definitely Xinyan. If you wanna talk about being done Dirty its DEFINITELY her. (AND I LOVE HER!!) Mainly because Xinyan doesn't know WHAT She wants to be. Leveling her up scales/gives her additional ATK bonuses, But her elemental Skill deals Pyro Damage and her shield buff's off of her own DEF. Then you have her Burst which Deals PHYSICAL Damage and Pyro Damage. Followed by a passive which gives her and other party members covered by her shield more physical damage, while her C6 makes her gain ATK based on her Defense. She's basically trying to scale/work with Pyro, ATK, DEF AND Physical all at the same time. Thats 4 different build types in one unit that don't work cohesively together. Not to mention her Shields active time is the shortest among all Shield users and has a pretty lengthy cool down to top it off. Leaving her vulnerable and hitting like a noodle since if you try to focus scaling on any one thing your suffering/losing out in not just 1 but 3 other categories. If her Kit were to be reworked, her shield Duration be similar to Layla's where its basically always up, and then focusing on either ATK or DEF to scale off of for her shield strength and Burst damage, while removing the physical part of her burst and just having it be all purely pyro damaged based. She'd be a solid unit.... but she came out in a time where they were clearly just throwing darts at a board to see what people got, and the whole board fell with her so they gave her everything. And its not pretty.... Dehya in comparison has her uses, and while it does suck she has split scaling... you can at least choose to focus on 1 or the other. I personally chose to focus on ATK parts of her kit over her HP and its honestly been for the better. As my and my friends Crit rate, and Crit Damage are relatively Similar... but they focused on Her HP and I focused on her ATK and mine actually out damages them 9-times out of 10. And in terms of survivability with the HP I do have and her passive she basically never fking dies unless something like a Arlecchino 1 shots her.
SO a little insight into why I made this survey:
This survey was a test on human behavior when asked to determine a character through a subjective criteria they made for themselves.
Also if you're curious who I would have answered, I would have answered differently:
1. Visual Design (Best/Worst) : Zhongli / Bennett
2. Combat Design (Best/Worst): Wanderer / Lisa [im allergic to charge attacks with no movement]
3. Personality (Best/Worst): Faruzan / Abstaining
4. Story Quest: ...Albedo no lie (a date in the mountains thanks) / Xiao
5. Lore Potential: Albedo
6. Future Character: Dottore
you seem to be more reasonable than most, respect
I just wanted to say you have a beautiful voice C:
that's a lot of words
"Best Combat Design : Wanderer"
"Best Personality : Faruzan"
you are SO based for that, although I'd probably put Wanderer for best personality, Faruzan is definitely a great contender for that too
My preferred combat design would be kazuha/raiden/childe and preferred personality would be kazuha/itto. Bennett grew on me visual design wise, so my least favorite is yunjin or dori. I am satisfied with most story quests; Albedo has huge lore potential, and my future character pick would be Dainsleif when he finally becomes playable.
We're all aster's test subjects confirmed???

probably not. let me be real i only played like 2 hangouts. that are bennet and noelle, bennet becuse he was interesting and noelle because why no. i like her just a helpful maid that is just too op. now thats a character trait i can get behind
Not enough to top Lynette’s and Kaveh’s. I replay his hangout every so often bc it makes me think so much of the educational system, and the professionalism of teachers nowadays. Made up for his shitty combat kit i guess

@@TheImpossibleEnemy This poll was made when the archon quest had just finished if I remember correctly hence why people are bringing it up alot.

@@zspider1778 nah Dori is a scammer
Dori's JP VA is damn talented
The mentioning of the character performance in co-op as if it has to do anything with their power is quite funny, though, I'll give u that.
kokomi is pretty badly written imo
childe not even being an honorable mention in the most potential for future lore is CRIMINAL
i mean he had a pretty significant role in Fontaine's AQ.... i hope he won't take too much time in Snezhnaya's AQ and let his coworkers shine🙏
i love that the hate is mutual , sorry hahaha
i mean we essentially know everything about him already and he's been featured in way too many lore related quests. the only real thing that could be explored with him is the abyss (which tbf does have a lot of potential) but he has a very surface level understanding and connection to it as far as we know. the torch for abyss lore will likely be passed onto skirk. and the harbingers dont rly count as his lore considering they're all different characters whose lore is their own and not childe's. i think it's fair that he wasn't featured there.
Nah people just don’t like childe lol. The less important he is to the story the better for me
@@lum_berry111 tw: extreme tartitty brain rot
maybe im too far down the childe lore rabbit hole, but he has so much lore it's crazy. basically there was an adventurer named ajax who got like... reborn as a descender or some shit he did like a ritual thing idrk i rly have no idea because genshin lore does not make sense but childe's real name is ajax and he was named after this guy. theres some notes in the narsinenedjkskejrreuz quest line that say basically "io io pan forsake yourself and dive into the abyss and u will be reborn as the holy infant" or something like that and it's related to the ajax the adventurer guy and who went into the abyss???..?
Personally, I enjoy playing the game in Japanese and I think the Japanese Lumine is much, much better than the English one
the vibe characters like Dori, Yanfei and Yae Miko give in JP vs EN is night and day.
I will vouch that I know a pretty significant part of the fan base doesn’t like Dori because of
A: her treatment of Kaveh (a fan favorite) seen in his character story and
B: Her orientalist design, there’s much better threads of this on twitter but the main idea is how she seems to be solely based on Aladdin, which is known for not being the most authentic…

Good enough to top Lynette hang out? I dont think so
I have no opinion on any of the hangouts. They're all forgettable.
despite Furina being my favorite character in the game, i personally don't think she deserved best story quest(despite it being one of my favs too), i think Baizhu or Neuvillette should have won that one but it's just my opinion.
also hot take here, i think Dori is a good character with a good design.
people hate Dori for being greedy and wrecking Kaveh's life but i think she is well written and more on the interesting side of characters.
i think people also hate her design because of cultural issues which is fair but i personally don't mind them and visually/aesthetically she looks very appealing for me, her color pallette and overall looks really tick for me.
XD
And this is literally done by every merchant there.
(Again if ur a local they just give you a fair price, everything as a foreigner is elevated in price hence the importance of a friend from the area or a guide).
i feel like dehya's story quest and Faruzan's hangout quest are very underrated
La Vaguelette is peak!
I'm surprised to not see Arrlechino in any of the results, considering the amount of hype she had before her release.
When was the survey done? This project could have taken a good chunk of time.

Then we'll actually have something interesting than the players Not being able to say or think about "my favorite character is the archon XYZ"
They know how to "trap" their enemies without their enemies realizing they're being trapped
And as long as ppl find ayato's character boring, the more our democracy is controlled by machiavellian people
@@whatismyadjectiveiconfused agreed and Ayato is a very intriguing character because of how he behaves and handles matters around him, he's very efficient!
the fact that yoimiya story quest is not in the top mentions is a crime ahah
@@Lampent12 4* = don't care for most gacha communities
It's not fun to kill everything that moves in 2 sec.
i was literally cheering for Venti when the potential for lore part came in, and I was not disappointed :>
But, bland compared to non-archons.)
2. Combat Design (best/worst) Keqing / Neuvillette (Hehe, zippy zappy…her normal-charge combo is really fun to do. Water dragon can screw off though. If I wanted a “gun it down” play style, I’d just play Nikke)
3. That makes two and a quarter of them.)
4. Story Quest (best/worst) Noelle / Nilou (Noelle’s quest has a OPM reference and she’s practically a superhuman sweetheart that wants to be a knight someday…c’mon Jean. Nilou’s quest was boredom incarnate and she wasn’t even the main focus, it was some other girl and her damn father…dance scene was pretty though.)
No wins for Xiao and I'm devastated. I think hes such a great character, amazing story, amazing design and so mysterious and endearing
Couldnt describe him any better. Im very pleased every time hes on screen
forgotten; there is mad recency bias
sadly Xiao is forgotten nowadays
Same with Scaramuccia. His story and character development is insane
Would love to see the data gathered from a different sect of the community.
Maybe a Cosplayer or Artist fan base
Personally i like Ayatos Quest people like to shit on NPC's but they actually exist in the world. There the constant and react to the changes
Like Chisato and Kamajis Marriage have far more implications then anything we could get from Ayato
People watch CC's they relate to so in a way it feels like if Aster filled it out herself.
That "Dehya was done Dirty" comment stood out like it was less a reflection of her gameplay and more to its drama
Thats what i kind of see
Players who arent fully committed but still heavily engaged with the Meta
People who enjoy the Lore but dont put to much emphasis on Story Content (So if you asked them about the Freminet Event they probably couldnt tell you what actually happened)
A reverence for the Archon Quest or Content they see as relevant and a disregard for anything else
Like im pretty sure if you added "How do you feel about Endgame"
You wouldn't get the nuanced takes you normally find online. Probably a good 80-95% that will say there all for more of it
Which i wouldnt find reflective of how a good portions of people feel despite what CC's say
TLDR its informative but mostly how Aster usually describes as her own Genshin experience
Which makes sense your more engaged with people who share similar thoughts
well then the stuff in ayato's quest should have been made into a world quest or something. yes NPC exists but they are not valuable to the character quests. like in venti's quest we spent quite a lot of time with stanlee but at the end of the quest we valued venti and his experiences more than stanlee himself, we like him and understand stanlee but that does not steal the thunder from venti. the NPCs should be a medium to tell the character's story not the reason for the story. that's my personal feeling about that.
also dehya was done dirty i dont even remember any drama tbh other than " hurrr dehya bad she 4star wuth 5star tag hurr". its not about the drama its about how they plays. i still remember raiden getting dissed on her release because she did not work with beidou and kokomi getting the tag of 5star barbara. dehya is still not a fun to play character her skill gives armor but it does not last the entire duration of skill, her ultimate is useless. another such character would be qiqi there are just fundamental problems with their kit that is them not adding anything of value or being interesting or unique like childe's or alhaitam's
these results only tell me aster's audience is a subset of players which i'm not a part of lol
Basically neuvillette & furina simps.
No. actually. literally. They're kind of just like the general(bad) simps/weeb
I considered Venti , Ayaka & Ei SQ 2 are top 3 for me
It’s personally fav because those three shares same concept that is Parallelism which I personally like
7:24 I love how those two also are down at my F- tier on thw character tierlist (including Aloy)
4:59 WHAT DO YOU MEAN DORI NOOOOOOOOOOO
people have no taste for gremlin characters
Surprising dehya as worst combat design, even more seeing xinyan right next (sorry for my baby but she's bad bad). it might be because people wanted a dps 5* and we got a hybrid tank support with low element aplication. in my opinion, dehya is good when you have a deep understanding of the game. taking that in consideration, it's obvious why neuvillette came to 1st place, it's a "no thoughts" canon blast.
layla's hangout is my personal favorite (mostly because she's my everything). after having studied a bit of psychology, i'm surprised of the very strong evidence of her condition, and how no one is talking about it. She has clear signs of dissociative identity disorder. i know some people with it and the moment they saw layla' story they related strongly with it, they take it as very good representation.
Also noelle having two hangouts makes her the real boss here. what? yoimiya has two story quests? pff that's nothing. (((it's a joke guys please don't get mad)))
okay listen, we will get a mondstadt expantion in the future, we will know more about the mondstadt army in the north. things will get very hardcore i can feel it. if they don't do anything with noelle i swear to god i'll go to myhoyo's office and scream.
SURVEY RESULTS EYYYY
yes please, put the result somewhere
i'm so glad i could participate in this, it was fun thinking about exactly why i liked the characters i did
also of course furina won a majority of these, but dori catching a whole bunch of strays was disheartening even if i don't necessarily like her
I think the Dori hate is because she's morally questionable (a loan shark, who specifically ripped off Kaveh, a much more popular character) and doesn't have the edgy coolness or redeeming qualities of others in that category like Raiden or Childe. She's also rarely used in combat; Kuki already fills the electro-healer slot and is way better for hyperbloom.
@@kimarimoi that's super true, i just hope hoyo doesn't take this as "oh they want more mary sue characters"

@@kimarimoi I'm so confused by the fact most people don't like characters if they're morally wrong. What's stopping them from being entertaining characters despite that ?????
Furina votes feel like recency bias.
100% I completely agree, same with neuvillette, like sorty but his play style is SO boring
@Fuphu 100% agree and I found Furina's story quest to be very mid.
Dori was voted worst design and personality ???? She's among my favorites on both those aspects wtf
I've been waiting for thiss!! Great job aster on sifting through soooo many opinionated and varying answers.
Choosing who were the "worst" characters in this survey was very hard for me, as I like all the characters in this game. Some more than the other. ...And I didn't know you could leave certain questions blank 😅
can anyone explain to me what's wrong with bennett's charater design 4:48 , cause I love it lol. well I love everything about benny boy
He's boring. Incredibly so. Obviously so.
No drip
No animations
No personality
No flair
Nothing at all.
People like Lynette's hangout? With the rng?! My favorite was Heizou +Itto.
As a psych student who often deals with statistics, I felt that data collection struggle so badly 😂 Love this type of video! It's fascinating to see academic research being applied to my hobbies
Nobody mentioning Xianyun, she had one of my fave story quests 😭 i love seeing her mothering
8:17 not to be rude but people did, in fact, mention xianyun's story quest in the honorable mentions so i'll just assume you missed this part (or wanted her to get the best which to me, i think is also valid bcs i liked her SQ too)
VERY BORING STORY 🙄
Jeez kudos for you for shifting through that data. Can’t really understand Neuvilette rated high for being fighting design, but I suppose people like firing their lazier. Can’t deny the numbers but it seems so… boring to me.
I was actually extremely surprised. Like fell off of my chair surprised.
Am I the only one that thinks whether a story quest is good or bad has nothing to do with NPC focus all of my favorite ones has heavy NPC and they are awesome.
in my opinion , dheya , tignari and nuvilette have the best story quest
I like Alhaitham's too. I actually was sure he would kill Siraj when he threw his weapon at him. XD
if the survey had been done after clorinde’s story question was released I’m sure it would’ve won. Most fun I’ve ever had with one hands down no contest
Am I the only one who would love a playable Katherine?
That sounds too good They would never do that.
what if you do this on NPC characters too, like best villain, support, voice acting, lore impact etc. haha probably the grand sage azar would be one of the most hated one
Nilou and Ayato quests felt like world quests imo.
Best story quest by far was baizhu. It's actually one of the reasons I actually pulled for him and the story is so sad and cool and the dude is a badass
I really love your voice, really soothing just like Furina. 🥰
furina has to be by far the best character they’ve made! i absolutely love the fact that she is a fan favourite
Dori hate will always perplex me and feel a bit much. It really shows some characters can get away with stuff if they’re made to be attractive because nobody really brings up the amount or lack or representation Al Haitham brings with his design. Not to mention his own “personality quirks”
Then there’s fact a good proportion of players didn’t actually look into Kaveh’s lore to learn Dori didn’t scam him out of his house and actually appreciates projects asked by her. 💀
Yes, she did not scam Kaveh out of his house. But she raised the interest rates on Kaveh's debt after he pissed her off, and destroyed the diadem (which was a dick move, and in some countries it's outright illegal depending on the contracts)
She scammed multiple other people tho. Like people who are vulnerable. For ex, she scammed Itto (who we know is not the smartest tool in the shed), scammed Layla (selling her overpriced medicine), trying to sell Collei overpriced drinks (Tighnari was there and stopped her tho)
She made a business out of selling illegal knowledge capsules, which she knows will cause permanent brain damage after a time (this is one of the reasons knowledge capsules are so tightly controlled by the Akademiya) Her thought process is identical to the average drug dealer.
There’s a quest in game where
Dori literally tells us she stopped selling forbidden knowledge because she learned it can hurt people which never leads to anything good as a merchant in terms or reputation or consequences no matter the price.
@@jonathanrobinson198 "she doesn’t pay Kaveh is because he owes her money"
This is a separate business transaction tho, and it has nothing to do with Kaveh's debt tho.
Also, she did scam people, by overpricing her items, hich btw doesn't always work the way she claimed to do (like Itto's drum)
She tried to scam Collei, by trying to sell her overpriced drink after Collei came froma patrol, very thirsty.
@@Jinni-iras17514 Accepting blatantly overpriced things is on the buyer
And this is why she choses people who are vulnerable, desperate, or stupid.
Like Itto is stupid everyone knows it, Collei was deserately thirsty while Dori tried to sell her her overpriced drink, Layla actually had an illness, and we all Know that how stupid Kaveh can be (she maipulated him during his hangout to work for free by omitting infrmation, a very important one, the identity of the client)
Dori tried to scam even us, she sold us overpriced Desert kits (one million two hundred, and fifty thousand mora, which is so otrageously overpriced), which were billed to Cyno. SInce he was the one who led the investigation. Cyno just arrested Dori. XD
13:29 knew it! that chalk jerk will be somewhere here (he is my #1 fav anyway)
I didn’t know about this survey but I still want to share my thoughts. I’ve been playing since the second week the game released and kinda recently hit AR60 as of late 2023
Visual Design
-Candace is my favorite but Wanderer or Aether are close right behind.they look like 6 stars if that’s ever a thing
-Worst is Xinyan because the vertical lines on her shoes are too disturbing for some reason
Combat
-I LOVE Haizou for his punchy fighting style and his hard hitting skill is the most satisfying thing in the game
-The worst is Neuvillette because his levitation animation reminds me of Halo 3 forge mode instead of actual levitation
Story quest and Hangouts
-I know this is more recent than the survey but Arlecchino is my favorite as far as the ones I remember. I love what happened at the end
-The worst is Ayatos because I did it but I REALLY don’t remember it at all
-The hangout quest I have no answer because I zipped through most of them for primos but Sayus was adorable and why I adore her so much
Personality
-It’s extremely close between Fischl and Furina because they are similar but I do like Fischl slightly more. IDK why I just love their personality
The worst one is by far Hu Tao only because she always terrorizing Qiqi whom I love so much… she even has her own jail cell in my teapot
Potential in Future Patches
-I want to say Wanderer. I believe he will have a huge part in helping the traveler face the Fatui
Anticipated Unplayable Character
-My most anticipated unplayable character right now is Skirk because YES!
My own bonus, Top 5 Overall Favorite
5. Venti or Candace depends on the position of the sun
4. Traveler
3. Wanderer
2. Furina
1. Fischl
Also if I saw the option that just said “Character” I would’ve probably clicked that not for significance but because it seems odd and I like causing chaos 😂
I really think clorinde has one of (if not the) best story quest. It was fun, engaging, interesting, and i actually didnt feel like i was doing a chore when i did the quest!
Also if i were to do smth for the character with the best lore i would honestly choose wanderer. Idk how to describe it...
genuinely surprised wanderer didnt make any cut given how his fandom was HUGE in 2022
I feel like this survey was a bit biased
As a dori main I don't see what you mean
/s
Rip Dionas hangout quest wasn’t on here :’(
Recency bias played a factor, but furina, hutao, klee, certain characters not necessarily eccentric but made by narrative to be expressive by extension give off alot of their personality, which is really reaaaaaaaaally overlooked I'd say
I don't hate any characters for their personality but someone like zhong, neuv, or kazuha who don't get very "human" (zhongli has lore and history behind him at least) with you makes it hard to enjoy, since there's almost nothing to enjoy
character design with almost every genshin character hits, I'm pretty sure anyone who says they feel a char has a "bad design" is just looking for things to hate, I understand sh can be subjective but at the very least to the most baseline note every character has synergy in their outfit
infact, I'm completely shocked people can say dori is unlikeable because she has bad looks, like, tf? her clothes, animations, background and aesthetique are all goated, and even if overtly scimpish with money isn't the best character trait, she's expressive enough that she makes for a fun character, if anything she should be the sleeper in this survey
her literal only issue is that her kit sucks
personally (I'm sad I missed the survey) my order of priority would be:
Design [practically always up to par] -- > Acc Value (specifically in tandem with current funds and near future chars) --> Nicheness/Unique-ity (someone like burning enabler or xianyun goes high on list just because of this) --> Character traits (personality, basically) --> Kit quality (eg Dehya and Siegewinne are no's, but I'd take itto since he's decent enough and I don't have a geo dps), --> little things (voice, fun team synergies, "do I have a good weapon?", stories, f10 banner, etc etc)
And as always, i missed the survey. Because no one told me and i didn't see it myself, of course
Upd: was there Aether/Lumine as an option? I think combat design for Hydro MC could get easy top-3 and probably even top-1 🤔
Upd2: why so much people voted for Itto personality being good and Dori being bad? I mean, Itto on the base level (his story quest alone, maybe plus any one event), but we saw him going down for many years now. Writers just don't know what to do with Itto, and because of that always regress to below the starting point, with a single exception of Akitsu Kimodameshi event. Rememer that kid with dead parents who stayed in Liyue? Great, because Itto already forgot!
2:41 Im debating whether or not that long one about Wanderer is mine (I dont remember, but I specifically know I wrote something about him and his Scaramouche design versus his Wanderer design), regardless, if it is mine, I am cringing so bad because what- (just in case if its someone elses, the cringe part is mainly coming from the fact that I think I wrote it lol)
This is so random why did i type this
if it helps (and if you really think that it was yours), there's no need to feel cringe bcs from the little excerpt we got there, i really like the interpretation and comparison for both of his outfit colours ! now you're tempting me to do a deeper dive into this gremlin (if only work wasnt too demanding 😪)
also i understand the feeling, it does feel cringe sometimes to see ourselves gushing over something trivial, but i think its wonderful that people express their love towards characters and their designs :)
(sorry i got into a tangent there 😭)
@@wonsunnyjay omg no, ty for randomly coming to my pointless comment and taking your time to reply, I feel better about it after it seeing this
oh yeah i participated in this!
I missed another survey aaaaaa! I really gotta do the next survey right away otherwise I’m gonna just forget like I did this time.
Faruzan should've gotten the best hangout quest award
VENTI MENTIONED??? IM ACTUALLY CRYING I DIDNT EXPECT PEOPLE TO BE SO INTELLIGENT I SWEAR HE HAS SOMUCH POTENTIAL 😭😭😭
In Genshin, theres no good or bad, every character is just good in their way
Not me jumping and giggling when ever Venti is mentioned^^
I still will never understand the Dori hate, genuinely always confused on that, especially in regards to visuals.
Also if I got any information wrong please correct me aloy users or if anyone has more interesting synergies.
I just wish aloy could get stacks with her CA's or sumn I also wish I had r5 sacrificial bow so my aloy could have more consistent uptime on her e
im the self proclaimed no.1 eu xinyan main and shes the most satisfying character ive ever played as in ANY game other than bayonetta
@@ChillwithAster Ah I see
@@ChillwithAster Another angle to take is to simply make people rate all characters (or simply their top N and label everyone else with 0) from 1 to 5 (can include half integer for more accuracy) and then perform SVD or FA on the data.
Gosh I'm actually surprised by how much I disagree with the survey results 😭
if furina is the people's top choice for anything, imma call them all simps.
i wish youd make the results public, i wanna read thru em
Can I ask you to run this same survey without Furina? Because yech. I liked the redemption in her arc, but damn, she isn't top tier EVERYTHING!
This is going to be an interesting Re-do then. "Don't put Furina" will be a fascinating limitation .
She kind of is though, they went all out with her writing and it shows, also her personality is top tier and so deep
Damn Dori catching strays
Neuvillette deserves more love, people don’t seem to realize that Hoyo has given us a playable Dragon Sovereign aka the strongest being in their element
I am scared to scroll down and read comments here lol
Bewildered Zhongli was hilarious, but Qiqi's only plot relevance was the cocogoat hunt. In the end, her backstory essentially revolves around a little kid dying, and that's gonna be brutal.
Diluc with his skin is the sexiest character and im a straight man.
“yall cool with your girl making more money than yall? Ladies, yall cool wi-“

DROP VENTIS ACT 2 CHARACTER QUEST AND MY LIFE.. IS YOURS.
Wow, you have an awesome voice
Wow, I don't think I voted for a single on of these options. Kinda sad to not see Arlecchino not winning any awards, she has my favorite design
she was too recent
I quit Genshin years ago. So expected to see people I'm not that familiar with dominate the boards. However I'm legit surprised Hu Tao wasn't on the personality list. how can people not adore Hu Tao? how?!
To me. There are no worst characters. Only bad players who can't utilize their characters potential.
I really want to know how are people feeling about Pulcinella because for me, he is the breath of fresh air because of his unique model
I I’m so happy that Furina most likely won
I honestly don't think Dehya is the worst kit to play by far. I have a few good units and she's surprisingly one of my better Units. Mainly because I built her a bit "Differently" than the standard type of build. But it seems to work and she does some pretty decent damage. If I had to pick the worst Character combat wise.... *Wince* I love her... but its definitely Xinyan. If you wanna talk about being done Dirty its DEFINITELY her. (AND I LOVE HER!!)
Mainly because Xinyan doesn't know WHAT She wants to be.
