A few LP'S were floating around in 1964 from the 1950's. But hollowbodies and semihollows were the guitars of choice by most players in 1964. Leo Fender voiced this Tremolux and other amps of that era for his fender solidbodies (which were barely catching on then) and his competitors' hollowbodies and semihollows. Once in a while, I'll catch a video from someone savvy to that vintage era before Jimmy Page showed up on his 1969 American tour playing a les paul at just the right time when gibson had decided to gamble in the summer of 1968 and put that sleeper les paul guitar into over production. It was a way overpriced guitar, but sales soared thanks to Page and Gibson's gamble. That proved to be the death of hollowbodies and semihollows that Gibson was famous for and apparently turned Gibson into a billion dollar company on the back of LP'S subsequent popularity. The sad thing about it, though, is no tube amp builders since Leo Fender has voiced a new amp design for anything but teles, strats, and LP'S. And few demo's of vintage Fender amps demo them using hollowbodies and semihollows.
