Nice vid, man....i cant decide between this one or the american performer strat because , because, for whatever reason i really, REALLY like that greasebucket tone circuit thingy that it has....i mean, i really like it, but, i also dont know much becuz this purchase will be my very first electric after 31 years of being solely a Martin acoustic guy, so, im excited, but i also dont know wtf im doing, lmao....anyway, thanks:)

She’s a looker. As a smooth or gnarly as you like. But that trem looks a bit flimsy. Ideally I’d like a much larger body, a V-style trem and colour!

If I hear it correctly: Wat hij bedoelt is.... Als je naar beneden strumt zet je je pols vast en strijk je vanuit je arm door de snaren. Dan klinkt het heel straf. Mijn advies (geef al 15 jaar les) - leg als Oefening je slag hand plat op je snaren en ga vanuit je pols "swipen" over de snaren. I deze oefening is je arm volledig gefikseerd. De beweging komt aleen uit je pols. Daarbij is dit ook van belang: Houdt de plectrum wat losser tussen je vingers. Zodat als je de snaren strijkt, de plectrum wat beweging heeft..... Aai de snaren... Wat dan ook mooi is als extra optie is om iets meer tijd te nemen om van e6 naar e1 te komen..... Gezien je in een gitaar winkel werkt heb je vast mensen om je heen die dat Wellicht kunnen voordoen? With the right mic settings you can make the epiphone sound just as good as the Gibson

I just bought one of these. The main difference between this one and the original is the sound. The original one is pretty loud and in your face. This one has a much more relaxed and controllable volume, especially when strumming (from the baked top). I love the sound strumming. It also has a longer scale length (not sure if this was mentioned in the video).

NIce demo, enjoyed the fingerpicking. I have one of these, but mine has a prosys preamp and a torrefied top, which is why mine sounds deep with nice mids, the ovangkol figuring on mine is stunningly beautiful. i compare it to my 50yr old martin d28 and of course it suffers, bur for the money (879 US) it is a hell of a guitar, nothing cheap about it, projects well and sustains a long time. Way more guitar than the price would indicate, which is exactly why i bought it.

NOPE. I'll take a honey burst classic, take my $1000 savings and mod it however I want and still keep a fat chunk of change in my pocket.

Epiphone for live stage playing And the Gibson for everything else!

Ones the original and ones a copy, need I say more. Also with age , the nitro finish and triple A top will sound way better. Play that gibson in 20 years and it will be a different guitar.

So basically you pay an extra $2000 for the Gibson headstock.

Epiphone has that shrill sound of an aluminium can being molested. I don't like that sound so much.

beauty, just cant get over the fugly logo on the headstock, if only they could make a simpler headstock logo "EM" or something. maybe its just me, but I am right in the market for a GA guitar around the 1000-1500 euro - and the taylor 214ce k dlx or this one get me excited. martin guitars just shock me, how bad they are out of the box. would love to know if that eastman sounds better than the 214ce k dlx- because that one booms.

I have a tobacco burst plain top purchased new in 2003. The original “aged” inlays and tuner tips were greenish . Some haters called them piss green. I would change the tuners but then I think the inlay color would be too contrasting . The pickups are a little hot but of course gain can be controlled with the volume controls and your choice of drive pedals. I’ve run a ts909, Mxr fet driver, Mxr IL diavolo , tumnus and jhs Bender pedal and gotten great tones with all of them . Zep,Stones , EVH, anything else - you can virtually get any sound you want from these pickups . Neck profile is very comfortable . More so than the asymmetrical modern neck. I get comfortable with any neck shape within a few minutes of playing whether baseball bat 50’s or slim taper . Although I do prefer something in the middle like the modern c fender American standard necks . Great guitar , won’t let go of it, obviously .

I often find that these cheap guitars miss Lows and are not well balanced. The tones go all over the place whereas a Martin is much better voiced. Maybe less loud but at the end of the day it is about the voicing of the guitar in my opinion…

Hey man, can you add a video of it plugged in? Takamines strength is not so much the raw acoustic tone, its their awesome elctronics and amplified tone.

I liked the Epiphone. Then I went to Wildwood to try them both. Left with the Gibson. Lol.

Both sound great. I'd give the Gibson a bit of a lead with more "bass/bottom." For the life of me, why 2 guitars made the same way, same materials overall, in different countries, still do not sound the same. Wahi' Valleys

The new Epiphone ES-355 is a fine guitar! It plays great and sounds great. The quality is top notch. I own a Gibson 355 and an Epiphone 355 now and they both are great guitars.

one of the highest value acoustic guitars on the market today. each one is a little different and it responds to string choice super sensitively. i run elixer 11s on mine and it gives out a big warm jazz/folk sound.

I have the blue Romeo LA. Stunning neck and pick-ups, excellent trem. Ebony board rings like a bell.

I have 3 high end 2021 Epiphones and wouldn't have it any other way and mine have the proper Kalamazoo epiphone headstocks

Thanks! This is a really thorough comparison. Honestly, I like them both but I have to say, it feels like some of the differences highlighted here are 1. Psychological in that the Gibson has received more care or in that the knobs are better quality plastic (both instruments have a mix of CNC and handwork) and 2. significant aspects that matter, like sound and neck profile are pretty close. Which would I get? Truthfully, they are both great and in an ideal situation, I’d have both - however, if funds were less abundant and space is an issue, I think I’d pull the trigger on the Epiphone 59 - thanks again though, great video
