It's something about Broadway actors that they are so cheery and are always energetic. Some of these Hollywood actors on talk shows are boring and dull as hell with no personality
James Burgess you HAVE to be cheerful on Broadway because any bitterness can't be edited out unlike Hollywood, EVERYTHING has only one shot
@@gyrozeppeli289 and you need the energy for like 9 shows a week
Exactly! No second takes. And you're live several nights a week!
theatre kids
Part of a stage actor's daily job is to engage the audience and be present with whoever they're speaking to. Most of them, at least the ones I know and work with, are highly gregarious.
somebody give her a role, complete that EGOT. She's magnificent!
abc yes!!!
she has been on TV, she will get one- for now I just want her to do another Broadway show so I can see her live again, tbh
Amanda she already has an Emmy. She needs an Oscar
Shes drop dead gorgeous.
I've always thought that Stephen has a special place in his heart for Ms. McDonald. He is always extra happy when she is around.
He's a broadway man at heart, he's bound to love Audra.😂
I mean, doesn't everyone?
I met her at a CD signing several years ago. She is the sweetest most down to earth person. My partner at the time wasn’t familiar with her and didn’t have anything to sign so he asked her to sign his arm. She graciously did it.
Meryl Streep of Tonys !
the Meryl Streep of Broadway
No, Meryl Streep is the Audra McDonald of Oscars.
Spikezx7 Oscars Academy don't allow an actor to win an Oscar consecutively or within a short span of time even when they deserve it. This is NOT followed by the Emmys, Grammys and Tonys. Hence Audra has six of them. Meryl should have won 4 or 5 more Oscars which she deserved. The comparison is dumb.
Movie Lover 89 is this a new rule? Tom Hanks won consecutively in 1993 and 1994
@@prashantsingh9068 stop over hyping MERYL LOL
She's just so gorgeous and lovely.
She is sort of living her Private Practice final storyline 😂
She is a real 'class act'! So wonderful to watch her and listen. I wish her more success!
Wow... She's a very successful professional performing artist who has been honored by Obama and is now traveling for work only a few months after giving birth with a sixteen year gap after her first child... and most of the comments are entirely focused on her breasts. Yes, she's a beautiful woman glowing with health and fertility and charm, but she's more than a nice "rack". Clearly she has talent, skill, intelligence, strength and courage. It's pathetic that women are still judged as our bodies before our ideas and deeds and roles and the lives we touch and the jokes we tell... and so on. Can we drop some old double -standards and replace those with genuine respect (same kind as men get and for the same reasons!), please and thank you already?
... And yes, I realize the movie clip doesn't do much to back that up. I sure hope there's some more progressive gender attitudes somewhere in the rest of the retelling. But since some folks have trouble getting past her baby's source of nutrition, I'll start: I love the idea of a woman who has won all three of those awards telling the world without shame that she was eating grits off of her daughter's foot. That sounds like something I have done, which makes her easy to relate to. And she has a beautiful voice.
amen
Appreciate your comment, I have 4 of her albums, but she had a baby, and she is very well honored for her talent. I hope she can appreciate, us ALSO appreciating the dress she chose which proudly features her curves. I see it as a compliment, she is a beautiful talented lady.
NuthinMuffins Boom! Honestly wish everyone would think like you. Freaking time we girls are looked at equally and praised for our intelligence and wit rather thank looks and mousy ways. That way we'd have women Presidents and equal paid in the workplace as well as many other overdue rights!!
I love Audra, she's such an amazing talent I can't get enough of her beautiful voice either!
we can love the talent & the titties... we can fart & chew gum at the same time. take a chill Pill, Jill.
She has a great laugh
This lady is awesome
When I heard she was going to play Billie Holiday I thought "nah she can't pull that off." I was absolutely wrong; she was stunning.
"You just had to mess this up, didn't you?" is a line that I imagine President Obama has been thinking every day since leaving office. Don't worry, Audra McDonald; you're not alone.
No obama is the one who messed things up big time
I don't think I've seen her before, but she is an absolute joy. Lovely, too.
Why so little time with this beautiful talented woman!!
God, I love Audra so much
I like how Stephen tries to discreetly motion to the crew to raise the stained glass behind him at the beginning.
Awesome mom moment.
She is wonderful, and she looks incredible wow!
Dang, she's built like a fertility goddess...
OrcoDevelopment 😂😂😂 I thought the same thing!!!!!
😂 In Beauty and the Beast, the large dress made her look slimmer, surprisingly.
I know what you did here - glad to see a PP fan!! ~
She really is...
She reminds me of Sanda Bullock
I love her!!!!!!
oH FUCK THAT BUST THO! THAT BEAUTIFUL VOICE! FUCKING HELL CAN YOU MARRY ME!?
She's so refined and cultured and I love that her husband is white. I love to see us all mixing and loving call me an undercover flower child, but I love it!
she fit as hell
I want to hear a Stay Human and Audra McDonald collaboration. That would be amazing.
Flak, not flack.
I adore Audra!!!
What the shit?! I would have never known that was her!! ~
Please, may we see a few minutes more of this delightful interview?
Audra McDonald has a sexy voice and a great smile
I think she said ‘It’s OK I’m married,’ as shorthand for ‘Don’t worry I have a support system in place.’ Nobody is thinking beyond their immediate situation when it comes to an audience reaction, I highly doubt she meant it as an indictment of single mothers or whatever y’all are on about. You need to chill.
Wow, no comments about her voice.
You people are sick.
Jeff Connell we all know she's incredible 😂😂😂
National Metal of the Arts Tho!!! (also these comments tho damn!)
Ima Dork ikr
Fresno California's Finest..
She’s incredible
That dress should be illegal.
Now that's a woman...
lol who writes these headlines haha
So short! 😢
That was short.
I have found my new body role model. And God named her Audra McDonald. I will strive to look half as good.
Again...what this show needs is fewer guests and more time for the ones that are there. From the time Audra came on stage to SC saying " thanks for being here" was approx. 5 min and a few seconds. That's just stupid! I'm glad she at least got to finish her story. Change your format, Stephen.
Her voice is unique, unparalleled
H... How... How are those even possible...?
Pregnancy and breast feeding
That woman there is incredibly fine and she knows it. Check out the way he’s checking her out as she goes to sit down. Wow!
God damn!!
She's soooo appetizing!! Wow!!
And a good personality on top of that!!
whoever got her pregnant must still be....
Audra is one of the absolute greats! Meantime, the man to whom you refer, Will Swenson, is pretty damned talented himself, and rather gorgeous to boot. Have a look: www.google.com/search?q=%22will+swenson%22&lr&as_qdr=all&tbm=isch&imgil=ceOjFGsdM12LtM%253A%253BXzfYL2uHtS1YsM%253Bhttps%25253A%25252F%25252Ftwitter.com%25252Fthewillswenson&source=iu&pf=m&fir=ceOjFGsdM12LtM%253A%252CXzfYL2uHtS1YsM%252C_&usg=__lkG7IIWT1YcwqSFUso9HBc-KD3Q%3D&biw=1364&bih=618&ved=0ahUKEwig3ff_k-jSAhWF4yYKHSf-DbEQyjcIhQE&ei=ZmfRWKCSB4XHmwGn_LeICw#imgrc=ceOjFGsdM12LtM:
Funny, good looking and curves that slay, 9.9/10. !!
Steamin Steven also one of the greatest Broadway talents to ever walk this earth
What a gorgeous woman?
2:00 hahahahhaha
Incredible voices are sexy. Not that she needed any help in that department.
Sweet mother of mercy! That rack is a 15 out of 10!
bell is not a princess if she marry the beast in the end. she would be a Queen because his parents must be dead.
Assuming he takes the throne of France. That's another story.
My siblings are 15 and 10 years older than me
The Late Show Of Stephen Colbert Rachel Zegler Nick Stephen Colbert
Shawty thik
Fell in love with her on Private Practice... shitty show.
She seems like a wonderful person, but when she walked on all I could think was "Holey Spanx, Batman"
Military Guard? Doubbbtttt it
You're doubting that a military guard would be at a significant presidential-civilian event? okay
Ha, no i was being sarcastic plus i found it funny that she used the terminology "military guard". Thanks though!
Anyone else notice how she pulled away when stephen was holding her arm?
Nahh lol she just quickly waved before she sat down
Did anyone else notice at 2:22-2:33 how Stephen Colbert inadvertently motions about Audra's breasts?
We love Audra McDonald on this channel. Check it out: ruclips.net/video/scK_EGzP_2U/видео.html
Funny, I came to watch this interview right after seeing your video. Small world
Never really cared about the movie, but from that clip, definitively not something to watch...
Michael Berthelsen I saw the movie. It was fine, but if you don't like that kind of remake in general, you probably wouldn't like it.
Colbert the "Catholic" telling her it's okay to get pregnant if you're not married lol
What an old fashioned way of thinking "I had a baby but it's ok because I'm married!". At least Stephen remembered that it's 2017 and corrected her backwards attitude.
Vanessa Tsu some people still have values. plus who wants the stereotype.
+Vanessa Tsu how does having children outside of marriage conflict with 'having values'??? Believe it or not the two aren't mutually exclusive...
There shouldn't be any stereotype. Some people have babies while they are married, some people have babies outside of marriage, some people have babies and get married during their pregnancy. None of these are wrong and the people who have babies when they are married need to stop saying things like Audra did because that's what's keeping the stereotype alive and well.
Its better to have both of the parental figures around. It is the healthier environment for children to grow up.
You're missing the point. She very clearly said "it's ok, I'm married" as if not being married was something to be looked down upon. Not judging parents based on the marital status is forward thinking.
Tig ole bitties, bro.
I'm glad she qualified it's ok she's having a baby unplanned as OK because she is married. it's becoming too PC to celebrate single motherhood. it's not a good financial situation for most women to get themselves into especially at her age due to the higher risks involved and with 40% of babies now being born out of wedlock the long term financial health of these families will eventually prove itself to be the most rational reason for why it's never has never been a good idea to have a kid alone. I'm not for shaming single mothers bc there are lots of situations that may result in being better off unmarried but this ridiculous stance that a single motherhood should be celebrated as an equal alternative rejects all economic facts against it.
Beddy TheCorgi It seems she was reacting to a less than celebratory sound from the audience. At least based on what she said, anyway.
People celebrate single mothers for the same reason they celebrate married mothers. Because the birth of a child is a wonderful thing. Not everyone gauges their happiness based on the fiscal consequences of their decisions.
By the way, I was raised by a single mother. I don't mean to brag, but I'm graduating this May with (hopefully) 5 AP credits, a scholarship for all of my tuition, financial aid (obviously,) and I'm going to my first choice college. So, yeah. Things worked out pretty well.
Jawel Zimbabwe so was I and btw I didn't hopefully graduate with AP I literally skipped high school and went directly to college then onto law school. I can tell you that it is not the norm for single mother children to be able to do what you and I are capable of as the exception. not everyone can get a full scholarship to a good school and with the cost of college rising it's hard for a duel income family let alone a single mother to send her kids to college without having them incur ridiculous amounts of debt.
Beddy TheCorgi So, because most children of single mothers don't go on to college… single mothers shouldn't be happy about having children? Makes sense 😒 if you're telling the truth about skipping high school (I'm dubious,) you should be smart enough to understand you can't possibly expect people to react that way.
Jawel Zimbabwe who said I said single mothers shouldn't be happy to be mothers? you're changing the argument to suit the fact you cannot argue with the economic reality of the situation. Single mothers are at a severe economic disadvantage and therefor getting yourself into that situation shouldn't be seen as a great and equal alternative to waiting or not having children until they have a reasonable chance at a dual parent household. that's why I say we shouldn't mislead people into thinking that lifestyle is as "good" as it could be if they were in a dual income household. Go ahead. google Texas Academy of Math and Science if you don't believe me. .... you likely have not been exposed to people outside your class yet if you are still in highschool. 1) having AP credit is expected at the top high schools so as good as it is you don't know yet that what you consider a brag is just what everyone else does who doesn't want to end up poor (most actually competitive high school students who go top schools don't do AP credit but actually do dual credit programs because their schools offer those programs) 2) you may not realise this but as a minority you are being offered scholarships and diversity admissions preference (like I was for being Hispanic) .... you have to make the best of these opportunities period but when you realise that your wealthy peers can afford to take unpaid internships that later in life set them up for dream jobs and have opportunities land in their lap for being so and so's kid you may begin to understand why I say it's so important to have a leg up financially. starting off with a single income for many is too high a burden to overcome. you may understand this when your mom is unable to give you a huge down-payment towards your first home or towards your retirement fund you may understand it. Being rich doesn't buy happiness but being poor certainly doesn't either.
