Nobuhiro 'Monster' Tajima returns to the 91st Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with his E-Runner Special electric car. Tajima is back and more determined than ever, not only to break his personal record (9:51.278 in 2011) but to make a statement that the electric car is a force to reckon with.
Tajima set a new personal record of 9:46.530, winning the Electric class and placing 5th overall.
Nobuhiro Tajima is a living legend. He was over 60 when he did this!

Actually, the sound you hear is not the electric motor, its the gears in the quick change rear end that are whining. The electric motors are for the most part silent.
That sound is amazing!
Old grandpa has a chilled facial expression of bringing his grandkids to school in rush hour... ... ... while driving a 900 hp electric car up to the summit in under 10 minutes... unbelievable ;)

Electric cars are silent (relatively), so the alarm is to alert spectators that there is a racecar headed their direction and to get off the track/road/course.
Well, Tajima definitely has a unique voice... Also, that car is crazy fast! I do prefer the scream of a conventional motor though

There are principally two types of system - battery (electrical) and flywheel (mechanical), although F1 teams have so far all opted for the battery system. Electrical systems use a motor-generator incorporated in the car’s transmission which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy and vice versa. Once the energy has been harnessed, it is stored in a battery and released when require.
So... no electric motors? It says they use one right there... you wrong!
Great video I'm glad he beat his old record from a few years ago I remember when he set it that's awesome and electric motors are killer I love them that's what I run in my scale rc's there very efficient n push tons of torque n high rpms and get up to top speed n snap of a finger just have to have an excellent battery source pushing n holding the right amount of volts amps n discharge rate

Hey GoPro, u guys should make a way to watch this so the Viewer at home can switch between shots depending which camera angle they like the best as they watch it so each shot is linked ....that will be awesome!

With that, yeah I'm definitely gonna try out the Monster Sport E Runner in GT6. Bought it but never tried it yet. :D
This car is awesome in GT6 0-60 in 2 seconds top speed with default aero setting 171 mph and 186 mph with lowest aero settings.
It's very tricky to drive though.
easy to drive with a wheel controller, though.
Dont miss the last curves or fall down for a long way. Great video. Dont see to many commercial for electric cars so far. F1 should nove to electric to give exemple

YESSS......1 peace wheels like on most race cars, the rim can not be separated from a 1 piece wheel unless you use a grinder & plan on hacking them beyond use,

Maybe it's so the spectators hear him in the distance, so no one is in the road. I know the car doesn't seem that quiet in the video, but perhaps it was harder to hear from outside?

Impressive, electric cars will dominate this mountain one day. He has got a point and squirt type of drive style, always noticed that about him, which means in the right hands this car can go quite a bit faster.
I'm thinking the car alarm is going off for spectators to hear when he's headed up and get out the way...?

Is the timer in the bottom right fake? The 10th and 100ths place of the timer doesn't make sense.
I kinda prefer this over the Mercedes SLS Electric car, at least this one looks faster and creates a sound.
There isn't gears in electric cars, the output shaft just spins faster and faster.
