Of the 1500+ PT Boats constructed .... PT-109 & JFK remains the only one that was rammed and sunk by a enemy destroyer in the entire Pacific Theater of Operations in WW2

It's such an important part of history to remember! He is sadly most famous for his assassination, I believe, but his heroism in wartime should also be remembered!

There is a mystery behind this story. Who was on guard at the time of sinking. Why didn’t the guards notice a ship bearing down on them. PT boats were fast, maneuverable. It seems highly unlikely that a ship could sneak up on it, let alone cut it in half and sink it. I believe this story was affected by propaganda. A important government officials son, wounded, rescued. Negligence was the alternative. Had JFK not been seen as a hero, it would certainly affect his future political standing. And would have eventually saved his life from assasination…

It's possible, but in my opinion, unlikely. It was more than likely simply negligence on the crew's part and bad luck!
