Great reaction. This documentary shows what a nice humble person she is in real life, besides being that absolute valkyrie goddess on stage. No ridiculous demands and over the top, look at me, behavior that you see from so many "stars" these days. Often from people who can not even come close to being in her shadow. Wolfman was right, she felt uncomfortable when the lady in the record store said she cried. It's one of the reason I love her and her brothers so much. They are all about the music, not about being famous. She toured with After Forever in 2002 with Nightwish, it is said that she was on top of Tuomas and Marko's wishlist to replace Tarja, but Tuomas didn't want to break up AF to save NW, so he didn't ask. Luckily for us the universe corrected that a couple of years later 🤘🏽
No it was not about Tuomas wanting or not wanting to break uo After Forever at all. The truth is Tuomas already knew there was no chance to get Floor. This was about Floor not wanting to join Nightwish. Not the other way around!!! Floor was very happy in HER band. The band she had been in from age 16. If Tuomas would have even dared to ask her she would have flat out said 'no'. At that time she was very happy in AF making the music she wanted to make and actively participating in the songwriting process. And she was completely devastated when AF eventually broke up. And she never really accepted it and had a complete mental and physical burnout only two years later. And don't foget that as of 2023 Floor has been in After Forever longer than she has been in Nightwish.... After Forever has been a huge part of her life.

When Tuomas says she is at home, i get tears in my eyes. It is a great documentary, they may miss some details, but you will pick those up in the 48 hours documentary. And I am happy Wolfman likes my difficult Dutch language. In her live show in Amsterdam in 2021, Floor performed also a few songs from her After Forever and ReVamp. Floor wanted as child to be a biologist but she is not one. I think for Floor and the band it was also scary if the fans would accept the change to a different front vocalist - fans can be the toughest judges.

Actually the man is Patrick Lodiers, a Dutch presenter. The tv programme is called " De Reünie ". It is about the first year of rock academy. With the main singers Danny Vera and Jacqueline Govaert, she is the first singer of the band Krezip. Floor is hardly known of, at that time. Only in the metal scene, which isn't big, in the Netherlands. Only when making the show they found out she is a world touring artist, hence the surprise for the presenter: " Ik weet niet wat me overkomt " = I don't believe what just happened, roughly translated. Her part was, very wise, at the end of the show. Only one or two other classmates actually knew what she was doing, at that time.
This makes a great appetizer for the Tampere show, which is absolutely a brilliant show. It hits even harder when you have this documentary in your consciousness, while watching the show. Floor talks Dutch with a slight of smooth Brabants, a Bourgondian dialect in the southern part of The Netherlands. That as a reply to what the WolfMan said and what he likes as sound. I myself speak a Saxon dialect with more hard sounds in the northern/ eastern part of it and is more similar to the German language. A lot of foreigners think that Holland is the same but it is in fact the western part of the Netherlands including the capital Amsterdam. Besides this small country has also a second formal existing language and that is Frisian in the northern part of it.
I wouldn't call Dutch the nicest language to listen to, the northern GGGG sound is really something... The southern accents do sound much softer indeed. It's a mystery for me how people manage to pronounce the "gr-" cluster with a guttural R. I always end up pronouncing it either with the really soft Flemish G or with the rolled R, otherwise the two sounds just merge together.
@@vlinder6329 The Netherlands has more than 200 dialects although it is a small country. Even in my Twente region there are at least 10 local Saxon dialects. For instance in Ootmarsum they talk totally different comparing to Vroomshoop or Markelo. Luckily I understand them in general but in Rijssen they speak a very special dialect which I myself do not understand. All these places are located within a circle of 20 miles from my hometown .....
I love how down to earth Floor is. Genuinely touched by meeting a lady in a Finnish record store. As a parent I can fully understand how Floor's folks are bursting with pride when she performs. She is a total credit to them. Quick shoutout to that record store chain by the way. RecordshopX, I've been using them for 18 months to get Vinyl that I just can't find in the UK. Never let me down. Another interesting band Marko was/is a member of is Sapattivuosi. They do covers of Black Sabbath songs in Finnish. The first two albums were Ozzy Era. Marko joined on the third album and their cover 'Pelon Lait' (Neon Knights) from the Dio era is awesome. Marko nails the vocals.

Afaik you haven't done a After Forever song yet, you did one Revamp song (her band between After Forever and Nightwish). I would highly recommend Monolith of Doubt live at Kopspijkers 2002 tv show, and Dreamflight live at Progpower USA 2007.

Thanks again Howling Family! That was a special NW-show, cause it was in my Hometown, Tampere, Ratina Stadium. Like half a mile from my apartment. She is amazing, down to Earth person. That tiny record shop in that "back alley" is legendary, the most famous record shop in Finland. It has been at the same place like over 50 yrs. I bought all my first vinyl singles and albums there. We had to travel by train to get there when we were 13-14 yrs old. It is a tiny shop but they had an amazing catalog. If they did not have like a certain "Dead Kennedy`s" album or "Ramones", you just told Epe (the owner) what you wanted and he told you when to come back. They could have send it by post but it was like our "Disneyland" so the journey was as important as the albums. Floor moved to a "small" town in eastern Finland to be close to the band and crew. There are actually funny videos here, when she goes shopping first time alone and driving a car without a clue where to go. Asking directions, but of course everybody knew who she was, it was such a huge thing at the local media. But we do not bother or "follow" famous people on the streets or shopping centers/malls. Someone might ask a "selfie" but they are usually young fans/people. She might have had some extra "tension", maybe cause her parents and it was the biggest concert so far at her "home fan base", Finland. I did not notice anything and she did not have any reason cause we were just in Heaven, no, we were in Paradise the second they started. Best Regards from Finland!!

Another lovely docu about Floor is the one they did when she participated in the German version of Beste Zangers, "Sing Meinen Song". She speaks a lot in German, had to learn it and practised it with her dad, who also has been interviewed in German about Floor's burn out. Hey Wolfman, glad to see you. Suesue, you've got your workload! This documentary is wonderful. Floor was in the first year of the Rock School, 1999, this reunion. Tampere in Finland and her parents came to see her, Floor said she would have to avoid looking in their direction, to avoid a lump in her throat. "The best singer of Nightwish, I cried yesterday", interesting mix of languages! The reaction of the TV show presenter when the show starts! Mooi dank je (Beautiful, thank you, beautifully told. My parents, to see them experience the show. Most of all, I am happy.) Thank you Floor, you make us happy too!
So glad that you got to see this one (and the right version at that! Must've been several times I posted that link, haha). Much to say about this. Let's start with the beetle named after Floor: Discovered by Andreas Weigel. Named the beetle ‘Tmesisternus floorjansenae" (Weigel, 2018). Great little creature, nicked the humblebeetle. Since this is a repost, I saw another commenter point out that Floor also has an echinoderm named after her, which is nice of course. Tuomas has a gnat that carries his name, so that's the second one. Floor does not have any kind of degree in biology and neither does Tuomas. They're simply very interested in nature and Tuomas said he might have studied marine biology, which he didn't since he became a pro musician. Funny, since I did something called "aquatic ecology" at university before majoring in medical microbiology. (1/..?)
Anyhew, Floor mentioning After Forever falling to bits when everything seemed to really take off is a pivotal moment in her life as a musician but primarily as a fragile human being. Know that Tuomas c.s. already knew Floor from way back. After Forever even toured with Nightwish. We saw them in 2002 in Tilburg (with another Finnish band, the name of which eludes me at the moment). Main thing I remember apart from all the fun, is just how tiny the Finns looked, compared to the Dutch giants, haha. Also pleasantly surprised when AF guitarist took to the stage during NW's set and grabbed the mic. Great voice! As to the Dutch language, we really love Wolfman's attention for its linguistic intricacies. More importantly, we really appreciate WM clearing things up for international viewers, in that we Dutchies have become sick & tired of always being scolded a Niederländer or Hollanders. We love our own homeland Dutchmark to the north of the Netherlands and we love our capital Kopendam! (or Amstelhavn as some of us Vikings over here still prefer to call it). (2/..?)
Back to music and Floor's first band After Forever. Did a quick search on your channel and to my pleasant surprise you don't seem to have reacted to any song of them. That means there's still a treasure trove waiting to be explored. With some exceptions, one of which I'll recommend in a moment, the NW adagium that "live is always better" also applies to After Forever. It's just another way of saying that you want to see Floor perform and breathe life into whatever music she touches. Okay so the AF song I'd recommend you guys start out with is not live but a lovely remastered & great looking music video of "late" After Forever. This is what Floor meant when she said that their future seemed so bright, just before it all went to pieces. The song is called "Energize Me" and that's where SueSue's idea may stem from that you already did one, since Floor still performs it on her solo shows. I may be wrong, but I think the reason Floor is nervous for the Tampere crowd, is not necessarily the size, but the fact that it is a Finnish crowd, Nightwish's home crowd and she does not want to disappoint and their approval is very important to her, especially this being the first tour for an album on which she was the singer.

In 2018, a new species of beetle was discovered by scientist Andreas Weigel. It was named after Floor Jansen, dubbing it Tmesisternus floorjansenae. This makes Floor the second Nightwish member to be a namesake for a newly discovered species, as a new kind of fungus gnat was discovered back in 2017 by Finnish biologist Jukka Salmela, who named the species after Tuomas Holopainen. In 2020, a new species of brittle star, Ophiomitrella floorae of late Maastrichtian age, was named after Floor Jansen.

Thanks again Howling Family! That was a special NW-show, cause it was in my Hometown, Tampere, Ratina Stadium. Like half a mile from my apartment. She is amazing, down to Earth person. That tiny record shop in that "back alley" is legendary, the most famous record shop in Finland. It has been at the same place like over 50 yrs. I bought all my first vinyl singles and albums there. We had to travel by train to get there when we were 13-14 yrs old. It is a tiny shop but they had an amazing catalog. If they did not have like a certain "Dead Kennedy`s" album or "Ramones", you just told Epe (the owner) what you wanted and he told you when to come back. They could have send it by post but it was like our "Disneyland" so the journey was as important as the albums. Floor moved to a "small" town in eastern Finland to be close to the band and crew. There are actually funny videos here, when she goes shopping first time alone and driving a car without a clue where to go. Asking directions, but of course everybody knew who she was, it was such a huge thing at the local media. But we do not bother or "follow" famous people on the streets or shopping centers/malls. Someone might ask a "selfie" but they are usually young fans/people. She might have had some extra "tension", maybe cause her parents and it was the biggest concert so far at her "home fan base", Finland. I did not notice anything and she did not have any reason cause we were just in Heaven, no, we were in Paradise the second they started. Best Regards from Finland!!

Another lovely docu about Floor is the one they did when she participated in the German version of Beste Zangers, "Sing Meinen Song". She speaks a lot in German, had to learn it and practised it with her dad, who also has been interviewed in German about Floor's burn out. Also you'll see Floor at home in wintertime and with sister Irene inspecting and riding a horse which later on she bought. It has eng subs. So glad that you got to see this one (and the right version at that! Must've been several times I posted that link, haha). Much to say about this. Let's start with the beetle named after Floor: Discovered by Andreas Weigel. Named the beetle ‘Tmesisternus floorjansenae" (Weigel, 2018). Great little creature, nicked the humblebeetle. Since this is a repost, I saw another commenter point out that Floor also has an echinoderm named after her, which is nice of course.
Tuomas has a gnat that carries his name, so that's the second one. Floor does not have any kind of degree in biology and neither does Tuomas. They're simply very interested in nature and Tuomas said he might have studied marine biology, which he didn't since he became a pro musician. Funny, since I did something called "aquatic ecology" at university before majoring in medical microbiology.

Anyhew, Floor mentioning After Forever falling to bits when everything seemed to really take off is a pivotal moment in her life as a musician but primarily as a fragile human being. Know that Tuomas c.s. already knew Floor from way back. After Forever even toured with Nightwish. We saw them in 2002 in Tilburg (with another Finnish band, the name of which eludes me at the moment). Main thing I remember apart from all the fun, is just how tiny the Finns looked, compared to the Dutch giants, haha. Also pleasantly surprised when AF guitarist took to the stage during NW's set and grabbed the mic. Great voice!
As to the Dutch language, we really love Wolfman's attention for its linguistic intricacies. More importantly, we really appreciate WM clearing things up for international viewers, in that we Dutchies have become sick & tired of always being scolded a Niederländer or Hollanders. We love our own homeland Dutchmark to the north of the Netherlands and we love our capital Kopendam! (or Amstelhavn as some of us Vikings over here still prefer to call it).

Back to music and Floor's first band After Forever. Did a quick search on your channel and to my pleasant surprise you don't seem to have reacted to any song of them. That means there's still a treasure trove waiting to be explored.
With some exceptions, one of which I'll recommend in a moment, the NW adagium that "live is always better" also applies to After Forever. It's just another way of saying that you want to see Floor perform and breathe life into whatever music she touches.
Okay so the AF song I'd recommend you guys start out with is not live but a lovely remastered & great looking music video of "late" After Forever. This is what Floor meant when she said that their future seemed so bright, just before it all went to pieces. The song is called "Energize Me" and that's where SueSue's idea may stem from that you already did one, since Floor still performs it on her solo shows.

I may be wrong, but I think the reason Floor is nervous for the Tampere crowd, is not necessarily the size, but the fact that it is a Finnish crowd, Nightwish's home crowd and she does not want to disappoint and their approval is very important to her, especially this being the first tour for an album on which she was the singer.

The show was on Dutch TV, a reunion show including Floor's classmates from the Rock Academy. The interviewer traveled to Finland to interview/record Floor in and around the Tampere concert
