    I am huge fan of this game and I enjoyed this video! Here's a few points I want to bring up:
    -If you're having trouble landing on rails to grind, try a character with a higher grind stat! The grind stat determines how easy you'll stick to a rail to grind. Yoyo and Rhyth have really good grind stats
    -I personally never had a problem with the skyscraper level. I had much more problems with Sky Dinosauria Zone, mainly with finishing the street challenges and getting the graffiti souls. I found the skyscraper district to have plenty of checkpoints and health cans to almost never die in the level. It can be frustrating to fall into a pit, but you're placed pretty close to where you were usually.
    All-in-all, your criticisms are totally justified for a new player. Most levels towards the end of a videogame tend to try to challenge the player but I never had much of an issue. I got a little frustrated getting some of the last graffiti souls but after 100% finishing it, I say it's a fantastic game worth playing for old and new gamers.

    While this game does have a special place in my heart I do agree after playing it again the gameplay mechanics has aged and some of the stages do give me a hard time but regardless I love this game so much even with its flaws.

    I don't mind the controls. If you play long enough, a lot of things stop being unpredictable. But yeah, the skyscraper area is horrible, especially if you're trying to 100% the game.

    I agree with your frustration with the skyscraper level; you need to explore it to beat it but the penalty for mistakes is too high. I guess the game design tools and concepts they had at the time were too limiting (Dreamcast controller only had one stick for example). I like the sewer chase level but a lot of what you said rings true there also

    By the time Sky Scrapper District comes around, which is near late game, you should have grasped how to play properly. Get good. But yes, it can be frustrating. You would hate Sky Dinosaur Square.

    • @JohnGamesOfficial
      @JohnGamesOfficial  9 месяцев назад

      I wasn’t thrilled with Sky dinosaur square either, but it didn’t really bother me. Maybe because I had such strong feelings about sky scraper district.
      I don’t think “you should have grasped how to play properly” is the correct response when the level is, in my opinion, so vastly different from the other ones you would have played up to that point. And to that point, new and fresh levels are a GOOD thing, I just don’t feel the execution on sky scraper was the best it could be.

    The game is manageable to beat but there are some bullshit moments. I personally hate the capture the flag battles against other gangs. Especially the one in the maze like area surrounded by apartment complexes.

    Last year I've played Jet Set Radio and Future for the first time. I had problems with the first game but the timer and short length kept me going and engaged to the end. Future is in many ways objectively the better game but there are so many problems with the level design where it becomes tedious and kind of a chore to play, you spend so much time on levels. I just couldn't bear the game at a point and also dropped it just like you did.

    • @JohnGamesOfficial

      I think it comes with being an early 2000’s game, where gameplay wasn’t as clean and defined as games are now. I love the game to death but it is tough playing it in 2023/2024

    I haven't played this game in over a decade, I don't know how I did, but I did finish the game. I love this game, but besides casually playing it, I never replayed the whole thing again 😂, if I did, I honestly don't remember, this game is hella fun, but ya some of the levels were clunky or just difficult to maneuver around, bc of how everything was structured and coded in at the time.

  • @shaunzankiestein5840

    I get the frustration with the late game content but i never felt the game was actively losing its charm climbing vertically through levels. Route 99 and the Sewer had the similar feel but Skyscraper was special because you master the course and feel unstoppable skating through the skies and riding billboards to the top. It never felt like the game was working against you; it was another hurdle to jump across while making your way to the end game.
    Another good mention is that Skyscraper District has test run courses at the end of the game to help you practice navigating the level more efficiently. Once you get the layout and onow where things are, itll be like muscle memory.
