Brilliant job! Without your help it would have been in the bin. All I need to know from this thing is wtf i am on an ordnance survey map and within few minutes of watching your video I had what I needed. The manual, incredibly, doesn't tell you.
GREAT video. I don't understand why Garmin has not created something even half as good as this to explain its gear. Reassign their people who are making excessively complex devices and have them document it

Just opened box my new Trex 10. Video quite useful. Thanks! Ha! So different from my part of western Canada as rarely any type of a trail or man made feature. I prefer the basic model as I never really used the features on previous GPS other than to find my way out of the wilderness.
I have a eTrex Vista HCx I want to put in for example East 12328 North 85977 I can get the numbers in but i cannot get E and N in. Ive been guided by your video but i have now come to a stop. What i have is SK 12328 and ENG 85977. Whats that all about ?
Hi, Firstly, thanks for this informative video. I'm planning to go on a trekk of approximately 28km. Now the etrex-10 specification says it can store 1000 waypoints & 50 routes. So, if I turn-ON the auto track-recording at an interval of 0.01Km, will this device be able to record the complete track of 28km, or it will fail due to its restriction of limited storage capacity? I'm not sure, but in the auto track-recording mode, with the interval set as 0.01Km, will it use one of its 1000 waypoints at an interval of every 0.01Km & will run-out after recording (1000*0.01)=10Km?
That is a simply great vlog, very easy to understand and really interesting. Thank you very much. I have a few questions as i am very interested in buying one of these units, please can you tell me where is the best place to buy these units second hand? and also do you have to buy the maps or are they alredy on the units when you get them? Thanks in advance, my best wishes.
How do you save a route to the device from the pc ? I can send them to the device but the route is not been shown ? Pc says it has been received but where ?
With the eTrex 10 you have to have a computer to register the warranty etc. I no longer have a computer. Just modern Tablet and Smart Phone. Tech customer support useless. Page 4 instruction booklet. George
PROS: -more accuracy from the GPS. -keep using the GPS with your fingers when wet, rainy or humid outside. -much more autonomy of batteries of GPS. So, depending on the activity you're going to do, that can make a real difference.
Właśnie kupiłem etrexa 10 w celu rejestracji przebytych tras i okazuje się, że mogę na nim zapisać trasę wycieczki o długości zaledwie kilkanastu godzin... Niby markowy sprzęt a taki bubel ehhhhh
There are other models that are, if you like, but in fact I think it's a good feature that it isn't touch screen when you have your hands full of mud or dust, or if you're using gloves (useful feature for hiking in cold weather or for bikers).
Very helpful and simple for a beginner. In layperson's language, which was appreciated.

Merci pour l'aide que vous apportez au monde
Thank you for showing the device used in the field
Great review thanks. Very helpful. Better than the manual.
Great explanation. Thanks
Very useful and well explained Thanks
Very useful. Do the units start recording a track log when you follow a route/track automatically, or do you have to set to record separately?
Hello, is it possible to view an OS 1:25000 Explorer map on an Extrex 20 ?

I bought one second hand in ebay for £100. Make sure it comes with box and manual plus USB lead. Good luck.

Hi, my etrex22x does not make a sound when i need to change direction in walking mode, sound is enabled. What could be wrong? Thanx
Great tutorial, nice and clear, save for the wind at one point. Where is Video 1? you name this Final 2.
Thanks for explanation I really get a lot of benefits, but I want to ask about the etrex 30 how much it costs. And Thanks again.
How do you save a route to the device from the pc ? I can send them to the device but the route is not been shown ? Pc says it has been received but where ?
Thanks for this very useful video
Calling it Compass is wrong it is actually a DF =Direction Finder. Works equally well in aircraft
Do u know how to calibrate the distance accuracy on a Dakota 20? I know there’s a way
My GARMIN etrex 20 Device is open.
But i can't it up,down or select.
It’s just stuck.
Now what can i do?
Appreciate
Which one the best? 10, 20 or 30?

Do you have to pay for service
What can this do that a phone + backup batteries + dropped pins or an app tracking your tracks can't do?
PROS:
-more accuracy from the GPS.
-keep using the GPS with your fingers when wet, rainy or humid outside.
-much more autonomy of batteries of GPS. So, depending on the activity you're going to do, that can make a real difference.
25 hours battery, 50 with spares battery. That is impossible with a phone
Phone- cell tower
GPS- satellite
Can gps etrex10,20,30 shows the height of the spot we are standing on???
Thank you?
If you mean the altitude. Yes, it does show how many metres/feet are you above the sea level.
Very good, thanks
In Etrex 10 You can load maps but only 8mb ;-)

how to land survey with garmin etrex 12,20,30? this instruments will give accuracy results or not???? ,,,,,,,....replay very past
Sweetheart that ain't a river ... that's a creek ... and a very small creek @ that .
In the uk that is called a stream,
If it is on the map as a river then no mater how small it may be, it is a river.
After all a river has to start somewhere : )
Looks like a cheap, old fashioned cell phone. And the screen is too small.
The phone is much better and easier to use.
How very middle class!
It is shame it is not touch screen

Badly need a muff on your mic.
