- Join us as we visit Lightwater Valley Theme Park located in Ripon, North Yorkshire for the first time this season. We share on ride footage from all of the major rides at the park including The Ultimate, Raptor Attack and Eagles Claw. We also talk about the new ownership of the park along with checking out the many different changes across Lightwater Valley for the 2018 season.
Here's a link to the lights on POV of Raptor Attack that I spoke about in this video - • Raptor Attack Lights O...

Was the Staveley's who owned the land since least the very early 1500s, went through the English Reformation (when Fountains Abbey was dissolutioned) the reformation started in 1527, was given the land to John Staveley in 1516 I think.
I must say The Ultimate reminds me a bit of The Beast at Kings Island. I hope to someday come to the UK and go to some of the unique theme parks there.
John Staveley before the ultimate was opened for the public, he used ropes to test out The Ultimate lol, before it'd been issued with legal restraints/belts
Looks like there’s some interesting changes coming to the theme park. Fingers crossed the new management will bring some positive changes, because the place looks like it needs it.
It really does. It was tired 10 years ago and we only went back last year as we have a seasonal caravan pitch near Ripon, so we took our 2.5yr old. Found lots of new kiddie rides and 4 different play parks - so its ideal for her. We've took out season passes this year, but its really just for the bairn as there's barely any rides for adults. Flamingo Land is head and shoulders better really.
Been catching up with all your blackpool, flamingo land and lightwater valley vlogs, this has got to be one of the funniest 😂😂😂
We had a good laugh here!
Still one of the best vlogs you’ve done; had to come back and watch this!
Remember parts of the park but haven't been in many years since I was around 13 and now 28 shows how much the park has changed. The Ultimate is a brilliant coaster as I went on it years ago and it was amazing. Nice to see a little train in the park.
Great video Shawn I am going to light water valley for my first time in a week so excited
Have a great time
At 30:30 you can see what was the Mary Rose that used to be at dreamland Margate, I didn't realise this till I saw this video, I thought the ride had be dismantled forever, good to see it still going, had fond memories when it was at dreamland (Bembom Brothers)
This is my fav theme park because they give you this ticket that says queue buster .Thank you for the heart
True story! When I went to Thorpe park the first few times when I was younger (between the ages of 15 and 19) I forgot to take spare clothes with me and had to use spinning rides to try and dry me out before travelling home. One time I was so cold I put my hoodie on (which was dry I will add) without a tshirt underneath as I was FREEZING! Last summer I went and initially planned to not ride tidal wave (August bank holiday weekend) so didn't take spare clothes with me.......caved in at around 2pm and decided I was going to ride it, luckily it was warm so I soon dried out, took my socks off though and tied them to my rucksack.......didn't spot the boat coming down as I was going across to the photo point result SOAKED SOCKS. Flip flops and socks are a must for me now
Lol great vlog both, I'm still laughing at the blanket! 😂😂😂
I really couldn't believe it!
Another Great day out for us arm chair coasters, hard to get to lots of these places living in Cornwall so really pleased to hear your coming down to our home county Cornwall! Flambards is a lovely place the indoor Victorian village and Britain in the Blitz are really magical, so give yourselves enough time to do it all as well as the rides. There are a few other tourist attractions in Cornwall and Devon that have small coasters to add to your credits!
In Cornwall you have Camel Creek, and in Devon you have Crealy Devon and The Milky Way you can see them all if you head down on the A30 and back up on the A39.
Sorry this comments has got a bit carried away, just excited to see your heading this way :)
26:30 “thats the one reason really for coming to the park” 😢 #getridofbrightonpeirgroup
I remember a time I went there to watch the fireworks on my way back home I went to a fish n chip shop I got a sausage and I lost it in my mums car it was found about a year later so whenever I go to light water valley I will always remember what I call “the sausage incident eaten or alive”
11:04 “that’s a great animatronic that is”😂😂
wow have to go back on the ultimate again fell in love with this over 25 years ago and feel so ashamed never been back since but you have inspired us with this vlog to book a date to go back cheers
Great ending to another enjoyable vlog!
Well, for us watchers anyway. You were on for over an hour and I still wanted more. TPW, tops in my book.
Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you very much!
Great vlog! With all the goats in recent vlogs you could call yourself "Theme Park HERDwide!"
Now that is a great idea!
They should advertise this place more. I had never even heard of the Ultimate until I saw the older vlogs
MaskofMystery they spent A LOT of money last year with advertising and didn’t really make that money back so this year they’re cutting down on special events (except for the Halloween event) and focusing more on the experience you get when coming here.
They used to take out TV advertising years ago - They had their own version of "peace in the valley" recorded for it ! The Ultimate was advertised VERY heavily at the time of launch. Its VERY old now though. And on its last legs according to one member of staff I was talking to the other day
The ultimate is still there now isn’t it?
Nice video mate, brings back memories! I worked as a ride operator there in 2001 hasn’t really changed a great deal since then!
I'm actually going there for a school trip! This makes me not have any worries about not dying! Thanks for showing me the fun side if things!
Thanks for watching! Make sure you check out our many other theme park vlogs!
I came here this summer it’s changed again a tiny bit I think I prefer how it used to be but still a classic favourite of mine great video I mean I remember how it used to be and well it was great
So nice to see the Black pearl still going strong. I remember riding it at Dreamland some 35 years ago!
So interesting to see how it's changed. I haven't been in about 5 years now! Dying to visit again
The end was absolutely hilarious! Great vlog guys👍🏻🎢
Just wanted to say im watching from new york, came across your universal videos. I get excited and look up videos when im about to go
Love the royalty-free music they're using in the park at 4:50, haha! I've heard that in so many vlogs!
This as got to be the most funniest vlogs you've done 😭😭😭😭. It looks like a good park it could do with some more attractions though like you said. Another good vlog Shaun and the misses lol keep up the good work 👍😁👍
We're glad you enjoyed it, we had plenty of laughs on this day!
Used to love this place when I was a kid. I remember when the lines for the rat were two hours long! I'm coming back to Harrogate from Canada in May, so might have to pop by for old times sake!
five rides on the ultimate ,but the ultimate for me was you driving home in a blue blanket haha.thanks it was great.
Really appreciate your reviews, its helping us decide where to take the kids, keep up the great work.
thumbs up just for the laughing on the final ultimate pov
My local park! So sad to see the Ultimate torn down 😢
So many amazing memories there back in the 90’s as a kid! During training to be a fireman my dad had to climb the track on Raptor Attack (known as The Sewer Rat back then)
Really hope to see some changes in the future but I don’t think we’ll ever see the LWV charm back again 😢
Every video I check for goats now looool they the highlights of your videos :-).A familycoaster and a thrill one should come to this park.
I’ve been to lightwater valley loads but it’s been agessss since I’ve been and I’m going with school for a trip and this made me soo excited 😍
I remember going on the body skates when I was a kid, it was a mild day and there was a small muddy puddle at the bottom. Fair to say I managed to land directly in it, fantastic fun!
I am going there tommorrow and this has made me so excited!😆😆😆
Great Video! Might Be going on Monday with my dad for the 2nd time and the changes look cool!
Made my annual trip to the park yesterday and was fairly quiet considering it was a bank holiday - managed to do every ride by 1:30. The ultimate felt very rough (more than usual) but still think it’s one of the UKs best. Only slight issue I faced was The Eagles claw restraints not fitting on down on my shoulders in the afternoon despite riding it twice in the morning. Perhaps the member of staff wasn’t as strong then haha! Good fun for half a day, when quiet definitely not a full day park in my opinion!
We're visiting next week and look forward to returning!
The Ultimate is such a great coaster. One of my favourites that I have ridden.
Have always wanted to visit there. Looks like a nice little park and The Ultimate looks fun :)
This was absolutely hilarious what a ride the ultimate is! gotta go there sometime :D
Brilliant vlog as usual. The waltzer used to belong to David Wallis also known as Wallis funfairs. I hope all the old gang get back back together. If its Ok for me to tag along with you guys.
I remember going on The Ultimate the year it opened when it had the over the shoulder restraints. It was ridiculously painful!
Here’s a story about eagals claw my school every year goes to a theme park last year we went to light water valley it was the BEST and soon we’re going to flamingo land my FAVE place because that’s where I went on my first roller coaster but enough of that back to the eagals claw I went on it 12 times and when I was waiting in line again a girls phone flew out of her pocket and it all broke 😱😂 Kinda funny ahhh omg poor phone
You're so lucky to have so many parks in the UK! In Ireland, we only have Tayto Park, but it's slowly coming into its own
Hello, the train you was on is not the one from american adventure, it did serve the first 7 years of its life at flamingo land before moving to lightwater, the two locos from american adventure is used at Twinlakes park in Leicestershire (BTW really enjoy the vids cant wait for next park)
I haven't been to lightwatervally for years and the entrance has definitely changed but I love the park
I love light water valley so much! It’s so much fun I went 4 months ago
Interesting about the track replacement at the bottom of the 2nd drop. Also where is the red train? First year they havent had both out. Maybe it just cause its early season
We're not sure where it is!
If its affordable, they could combine the 2 main buildings you guys recorded at the start from the old shopping village into a fully themed dark ride
I went to light water vally the other day and most of the rides was Either Closed Down or Replaced
Never actually seen this park before, looks awesome!
Couldn’t help but laugh at the ultimate 😂 brilliant vlog once again!
First rollercoaster I ever went on was the Ultimate. Was there opening day and waited 4 hours to ride it. Nowadays it seems a little tame, wish they could re-rail it and put some floor less trains on it
what day did you go? it looks dead!! we’re going with school on a Tuesday (most other schools will be at school) do you think it’ll be busy??
Have fun, it possibly will be
We were there on Saturday, only just missed you - but looking at the video, we had the better weather!
33:36 The great words spoken "Some small, some short, but this one's actually got quite a lenth to it" - That's what she said
Flambards is my home park and is one of my favourite
The hornet (Britain’s most southerly coaster ) is good for a small park and skyforce 🤤
If you are in Cornwall try Crealys or camel creek
I remember I was like 8 or 9 ( scared of the dark ) and my friends went a bit before me so I was literally running in that tunnel all dark on my own and I was TERRIFIED
Loving what your doing love you both keep doing what your doing x💋❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
is the fudge shop still there? i hate fudge but enjoyed their fudge. talking like about 7 years ago though. my fave ride is eagles claw :)
It sure is
I love light water valley my fav is ultimate what’s yours???
Same!
Shawn you wouldn't be able to pay Charlotte's £45 fee with contactless as the cap is £30
I think i was at light water valley when this was published
Awesome, I hope you had a good day!
I LOVE your videos!!!! ive never been to light water valley but im going this summer at some point nor have i been to flamingo land which i plan to do this year, ve done fantasy island in the snow which was fun and alton towers 3 times so far this year thanks to getting a season pass for 55 pounds! well happy with that! looks very beautiful at light water cant wait to get some new credits! :) keep up the good work with your very informative and fantastic videos
Thank you for the kind comments, we're glad you enjoyed it!
Would you recommend Blackpool over this place?
I would indeed
The raptor made me cry, I was like 10
Omg same hahaha
I was nearly crying and am ten
Back when I was a kid (idk what age) I didn't even go on it! Looked too scary, now I realise it's not too scary but back then I thought it'd be like a proper horror thing
What’s better ultimate or velocity
The whirlwind at light water Valley was amazing but it’s gone for Apollo 😭
Does anybody remember the indoor coaster at Camelot 🎢?
Danielle Dewitt . I thought I’d got the wrong park but when I checked it was called The beast and then venom . It was a steel powered coaster 🎢
Danielle Dewitt it says it was removed in 2005
Danielle Dewitt it was called the Beast look it up
Bricklaying With Steve and Alex yeah. I've heard of it. It's still operating in the UK. It was the beast then venom. Apparently it closed because it didn't meet all the requirements of an indoor coaster
Bricklaying With Steve and Alex rcdb.com/829.htm found it.
I’m going on Monday (9th July 2018) with my school cant wait!
Going tomorrow 🤗🤗
Got so happy when it said 1 hour im going in 2 weeks cant wait
I love your channel and I love the planet coaster vids
Thank you very much for the support
Can you some more planet coaster vids
44:03 Even a Waltezer at Lightwater Valley didn't fit in, little did we know that a Waltzer and other other fun fair rides would operate at Alton Towers a few years later. 😂
Crazy!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide Hopefully they will bring in some perminent flat rides for 2024 🤞🏼
The lights came on when me and my friends were on Raptor Attack 2 years ago and we were stuck for half an hour 😂
As Always These Vlogs AreGreat!!
And now it’s no more .So sad.I’ve had some wonderful times on this with my kids
Love your vids! Have you ever thought about reaching out to park officials for interviews? You have a fairly large subscriber base and I'd love to see you landing exclusive content. Just my two cents. But regardless keep up the good work :)
I plan to do more of this in the future, thanks for watching
I’m new to your channel loving these vlogs mate 👌👌
Thank you, enjoy the videos!
Theme Park Worldwide I will
The one in the blue bow infront of the girl is meee!😂
On the ultimate
Awesome!
Would have loved to have seen the boxer short run to the car ha ha. I've never been to this park but definitely going to give it a go, just for a ride on the Ultimate as looks a lot of fun!
30:44 You guys never fail to make me laugh
on the 'Eagles claw' it felt like a VR thing (for me anyway)
Hi Shawn. I went on a new coaster for me yesterday. I went on velociraptor at Paultons Park.
That's great to hear!
Theme Park Worldwide it also broke down whilst I was on it. Not sure what it was though.
I have a tradition to go to light water valley every year, sometimes more then once each year light water valley will always be my favourite theme park alough it's so small,Nemisis at Alton towers is MINT but I didn't get a chance to go on it😦well it looked mint lol and bye first time visiting your channel and let me just mention EEEEEEEE
Hi Shawn and Charlotte, i was wondering how i purchase a tpw lanyard, could you let me know please, many thanks Jill 😊
Stay tuned for details on how to purchase them soon
Theme Park Worldwide, thanks Shawn and Charlotte, will you be at Blackpool at anytime between the 22nd-25th of June, because it would be great to see you all while I'm down from Glasgow 😊
Never too old or too big to ride the kids rides! Ive been on Lumber Jump down at thorpe park 4 times so far! And have been on all the kids rides too!
Where did you stay on ur yorksire trip?
We stayed in a local hotel
Will you go to light water valley in 2019
We will do indeed
At first when you were saying black pearl, we thought you were saying Blackpool hahahahaha....it’s cos we’re Scottish! Xxx
The swans open in the summer. They don’t open them during the cold months. Come June time they should be available though.
The bears were part of the grizzly bar ride that got taken down where the rapids are now
When I went to Lightwater Valley with my friend we went on the big slide I forgot what they’re called but we went on slide three and I can remember it being really slow
Good Luck on 200k subs
Thank you for your support!
I must admit Lightwater Valley could do with 2 or 3 new rollercoasters mate and I don’t know if you remember there was a twin looper called Supa Lupa and that was one the first coasters I ever went on at the young age of 5 and now that ride is in Poland I believe.
I'm racking my brain, but can't remember that one. The name rings a bell though.
Never even heard of this place!
It looks pretty great
Do they have quite a lot of rides or not
They don't have loads but they do have some unique rides
Did you go to Ripon Wetherspoons in your blanket?
We didn't go sadly!
