my grandma is absolutely obsessed with your videos and every time i see her she tells me about a sweater that she made for her dog “from jenna” or how she made me a turtleneck because “jenna did it” or anything else shes created. she really loves it 💕
There is a granny square method called “join as you go” where you connect them by crocheting! So no sewing together. There are lots of videos on it here on RUclips!
there is join as you go and also a way to "sew" with a crochet hook using slip stitches!! Lot's of more exciting ways to join squares than a whip or mattress stitch.
Jenna, I have watched you for so long, and I just love you. You are so pretty, and endearing. But you also are fearless to try everything. I am working on your challenge now. I can crochet but can knit. I am going to conquer it thanks to you! Love your ideas! Keep it coming.
Your videos just inspired me to start crocheting! My first project was a little bear-eared cap for my niece and a flower bucket hat for myself! Currently (if you want some sweet inspiration), I am making a strawberry amigurumi, but instead of stuffing it, I'm separating the top part, lining the inside, and then throwing on a zipper and strap for a cute purse! Crochet will be the death of my hands. Thank you 😊
Hi for your crochet cardigan, you can join the squares as you go. I didn't want to have a lot of sewing to do at the end so I did this. It's realy easy to do and it saves a lot of time. Plus for the sleeves I also crocheted them directly on to the main piece. Bam bam turkey chicken no sewing at all in my cardigan expect for the button of course. I also realy like to watch your video while crocheting you give so much of a good vib
An easy way to warm up to granny square things is to make a lil blanket for your doggo. I made a one for my cat with 12 squares and did it in less than a week. And it made me fall in love with granny squares.
Hi Jenna! You’ve inspired me to learn how to crochet clothes and I’m almost done making a granny square sweater similar to yours in one of your videos 💖💖💖 also benson is so cute I love him
Jenna let me ease your worries! Make cables is sooooo easy! And once you get the hang of them it’s super duber easy to design your own cables so I 100% recommend learning to make them because then you can spice things up with any knit you’re making! Second of all, don’t be scared of the granny square jacket. As some one who’s made 3 granny square blankets, sewing them together is not the worst thing, its the fastening off each single layer of the squares… but you can also just learn to incorporate the tail of the yarn into the square and then you don’t need to worry about that either!
I skipped making anything out of granny squares because i was worried about not making them exactly the same size. after making a lot more complicated pieces, i made something out of granny squares, and sewing them together was a lot easier than i expected. i prefer joining them with a slip stitch on the back loops over mattress stitch. i like the accent added by the visible join.
The maid you dress has been on my list for SO LONG. I will learn to knit just to make that dress. I am a crocheter but i ABSOLUTELY WANT TO MAKE THE DRESS 😭
literally in love with you and all your videos.. I watch them while I crochet and find new ideas for my next projects.. love your energy and personality and so so so happy I found your channel!
Took me over 15 years to learn how to crochet, just learned it 2 months ago and it was so worth the struggle, so if someone as clumsy as myself could actually learn how to crochet then anyone can, good luck to you sis💙💙
I love your videos. They have inspired me so much. I have the same drawback when it comes to granny squares. I have wondered though.... what if I edge all the squares in white or black and zigzag them together on my sewing machine with thread the same color. Huh... 👀 😃
That granny square sweater has been on my list too!! Also, the same site, Yarnspirations, has a longer granny square coat that I’ve barely started (I planned my colors since I’m deviating from the pattern in that area, and I’ve made one square. That’s it. Lol) and I’m pretty excited about it! I keep letting it go by the wayside because I have SO MANY works in progress. I’ve got like 7 cardigans/sweaters started and have bought yarn for 7 more cardigans and tops. I need to put down some of the cardigans and get to work on some summer tops and such though or I’m going to be very hot with nothing but sweaters and cardigans! 😂
currently working on the maid you fall top and loving it so far:) very very size accommodating. haven’t gotten to the sleeves yet and it’s gonna be my first time doing gsr so i’m kinda scared but excited to learn a new skill
As a heads up I did a Drops crop top crochet pattern and it was the most difficult pattern I ever read. It had a chart mixed with typed out crochet pattern but the way they ordered the pattern made it awful and there is not any step pictures. The top said to crochet and add stitches to each row at the ends. After this many rows you have X stitches. That worked out fine. Then stitch for X rows for length. A paragraph or two later it says that while you were doing that the increasing section quite a bit earlier you were supposed to also be combining the chart on the last page. I redid the front 3 times before I finally realized that I was supposed to combine the chart and increases that were in the first paragraph. It was an awful pattern.
If you're keen on trying cable knitting, I would recommend trying a simple S shaped cable pattern first! Get the feel for it before you try something like that pic you showed.... was very complicated (although I have no doubt you could do it!) 😁 Have a super dandy day Jenna! 🌻🦋🌞
I just made a granny square cardigan and it wasn’t that bad! Especially if you use the continuous join method or the flat slip stitch join! I did a combo of the two for mine.
hello! i have a question, what is the best pattern for me to do as a person who is moderate at sewing. i am trying to become a seamstress/ crochet and you have really inspired me!!
Hello! I have been wondering since you've been such a prolific seamstress/knitter: do you keep all of the clothes you make? You must have a beautiful wardrobe 😍
I tend to try to keep all the clothes I make, but as my skills improve over the years it’s hard to keep the old ones that just look terrible to me now 😂 but I have most of them. Honestly wish I still had the ones I made a child
I just wanted you to know for the redheart granny square sweater, you don't HAVE to sew them together, there are multiple ways to join them, I made a granny square picnic sweater (I can message you a picture of that on instagram) and basically I crochet the squares together
Hi Jenna! I've been looking literally EVERYWHERE to try and find a pattern to make the striped daisy chain shorts from thread clothing. I'm a fairly new crocheter and don't really know how to synthesize my own version of them. Help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Jenna! could you make a video on how to read Drops patterns? I crochet a bunch but for some reason their patterns are so confusing to me!! Send help so I can look cute this summer!!!
Hmm, I am sure you can! I would message the designers of the patterns asking if there is a way crochet instead of knit. Hopefully, they can help, as I am sure they would be super happy for you to make them.

Omg this just made my life 😍 I hope one day I get to meet her!

I was just gonna suggest that! Granny squares are so addicting once you find your favorite method to join

for me :)
2:30 pomona pants and shorts
3:40 cap sleeve mock neck
5:31 casey wavy skirt
I’ve made the crossed summer dress in green and I made it shorter and I LOVED the pattern!! Super easy to follow and it knitted up so nice!
Ahhhh so good to know 😍 thank you!

Crocheting and sewing look like such calming activities, wish I could get on that wagon but I'm way to clumsy for it lol
I’m also quite clumsy but trust me it’s super easy. You should definitely try it😊
