I agree with what you are saying, if anyone is thinking of starting to grow indoors an on a budget, at least 50% of your budget should go to the purchase of your light, there are so many good budget lights out there, light MARSHYDRO, SPIDERFARMER, VIPERSPECTRA,

@@scottbowron784 I agree, lighting has been far more than 50% of initial cost but it is close now. Tents, fans and filters have been creeping up in price while lights are becoming more affordable and efficient.

Hey bud thanks for the video. It made me think about - the fact that all par charts I can find are all done in a certain size space, depending on the light size of course.
My question is what's the best bang for your buck with NO walls or tent? I grow in an open space - more, or less. (basement with panda film).
Thanks for all you guys do for the community. Love that mint bar by mammoth led. Just out of my range for sure!!!

    • @FullCircleTravis
      @FullCircleTravis 11 месяцев назад +4

Just build a panda film curtain that is attached to your light with the footprint you want. Cut it so that it's the same length as your ideal light distance. So if your ideal height is 16'', make it 16" long below the light. When the tops hit the bottom, raise the light. You might need to add some weight or staple cardboard to panda film to stiffen the bottom edge to prevent blowing around, and to keep the shape. Leaving the plants open allows for fans to circulate air below the canopy.

The ProGrow 1800 is the deal honestly and at $420 gets you get a very capable system. The problem is that thing is almost impossible to find. I found one place that looked like they had it but then it said not in stock. Another place only sells to businesses and you have to buy a minimum of 12 lights.
I found at Costco a set of 4 recessed LED lights that are 6,500k on the high setting and 75 watts for $20. I'm going to get 2 or 3 sets and mount them close together on a piece of plywood and see how that does. I think it will perform fine for a small crop if you keep them close to the plants.

I have a huge problem with all of these bar lights.
I have tried numerous brands. And run into the same problem with all of them.
And that is, because I grow in the SOG. Any plant that doesn't have diodes directly over it only grows half as big as the plants with diides directly over them.
So when I try and use these bar lights. Every plant in-between the bars only grow half as big.
There's something wrong with this picture, these manufacturers are showing us.

    • @Ledgrowlightsdepot
      @Ledgrowlightsdepot  Год назад +5

The lights should be raised high enough as to provide uniform lighting over the canopy. If you are raising the light high and do not have enough light, you will need to go with a more intense fixture. Generally 1700 PPF (light output) and up for a 4x4 area.

    • @GregoryCarter-f8f
      @GregoryCarter-f8f 8 месяцев назад

Not so. Your Yield and experiments are commensurate with your abilities to learn. Cheap LED's, yes, I've used them. You'll need to bring them down to 12 inches or less to achieve nice golf balls. But I've had great successes with mammoth Mint 680./W 6 gal. Auto pots/W air canopy. Tennis - golf ball size buds at 18"-24" above canopy. 42-50" plants /W 8-10 oz. each. I've been growing for over 43 years. Keep experimenting, researching and trying new technologies.

      @@GregoryCarter-f8f
      Thanks for your advice.
I've been enjoying and growing cannabis since 1971.
So I've tried ever experiment, and more.
It doesn't matter how high the lights are.
      The problem is very simple.
Like I stated I grow in the SOG. But I also grow with aeroponics. I built my own aero systems. Which are 2, 23 site grow chambers with 1 reservoir. One system fits in a 3'x3'. Area.
So as you can see my plants are very close together. A little less than 2" apart.
So I can really see how a light performs on individual plants.
As for cheap I don't do anything cheap.
      I tried $500.00 to $1800.00 lights.
Like I stated before the problem was easy to solve.
      No diodes over a plant.
The growth of the plant suffers dramatically.
Even if there are diodes a eighth of a inch away from the plant. The growth will suffer. Not as dramatically as a bar light, when there is 6" between the bars.
So I built my own lights.
So there is at least 2 diodes directly over every plant. Solved the problem.
      I 4 aero systems that I run on a 2 week rotation.
I clone everything. I start 46 clones, in 5 days they start getting roots. In 10 days they all have roots.
I keep them in the aero cloners for 17 days to establish a good root system. Then I just transfer them to one of the aero systems.
      Straight into 12/12. No veg.
Actually I use the first 2 week stretch in 12/12 as my veg time.
The clones are like 6" when I put them to 12/12.
And within 2 weeks they are 2 and a half to 3 and half feet tall.
At harvest I'm getting anywhere from 29 to 40 Gs
Per plant. The plants are like a stem with a huge bud on it. It looks cool.
So do the math and you will see I'm pulling pretty good for a 9 s/ft area.
      I have all 4 aero systems in 12/12 365 days a year.
So thats 192 plants in flower all the time.
I've been growing this way for about 20 years now.
And its the cheapest, easiest and fastest way to grow.
It's a lot of work. Especially all that trimming.
But I've got some good stains to where the flower to leaf ratio on the buds are very Good. But I still hate all that trimming.
Anyway since I've been growing this way for so long. My experimental days are over. Indoors.
      I still play around though.
A few years ago I build a green house. So I play around in there.
      Take care.

these lights are all far too expensive. i just need a light for a couple months while i save up for a root barrier that cost $600
not to mention the names of these lights are hilariously bad.
im planting a bamboo and want to get the area ready so it doesn't overtake the yard. i have to keep it in a $20 2 gal planter for a bit.
if i buy one of these lights it'll be winter before i can afford the stuff i actually need.

Better put it on a saucer. If those roots touch the ground in anyway, they will be off an running. You won't even know until it's to late. Once it roots into the soil/ground even diesel fuel won't get rid of them. Then you will a backyard punji pit

Best bang for the buck for a 4x4, first generation Mars FCE-4800 with the Moso driver, got mine for $356 over a year ago, plenty of wall to wall ppfd for that space, don't need a 6500, that's a 5x5 LED.

For a 4x4 tent or 5x5, which vicosun led would someone suggest. There's the huge panel one, the smart lights with cooking fans & heatsinks us programmable, or the bar system that's just like the 1st one on the video... also the bar lights are foldable.
I DESPERATELY NEED SOME HELP DECIDING. I WAS GONNA BUY AN ENTIRE TENT KIT AND THESE ARE Samsung Diodes. Even the intake/outtake fan is part of the programmable smart system. So on the tent is a control panel or use your app on phone.

That's all they have is decent price point. All their lights die off at the edges. For that price point I'd buy Chinese lmao. They used to be good when boxy Chinese style lights where starting now its a shame cuz they where good an air now left behind..

I’m new to this but I think I found a great deal. I got a Hyphotonflux hpf4000 led for 300$ direct from their ws. I’m going to buy another light after summer so I’ll still be checking for deals.
