Love this video and I have been enjoying drying my extra dahlias 😊 I find that Christmas ornament hooks work well with most of the dahlias except when stems are very thin. Thanks for a great video, I’m looking forward to seeing you make a wreath with all your dried dahlias 😊
Oh wow, Nicola! I love these dahlias when dried- so beautiful. I had no idea they could be dried. I am definitely going to have a go at doing this. Thank you for a great video tutorial. I wonder if putting a fan in the room, near the drying dahlias would help the drying process? years ago I was put off drying large flowers because of the faff with silica gel- this looks fun and more attainable. Happy gardening 🙂
It is best to dry in a dark place to preserve as much of the colour in the flowers as possible. That said, I ended up drying some in the house last year in an un-darkened room and I didn't notice any noticeable difference.
Drying indoors is definitely quicker, as the temp is more consistent, the barn is very weather dependent. Indoors I would say it takes about 3 weeks to dry most flowers but the barn can be 3 weeks to 3 months 😂
Brilliant, very informative, thank you for sharing...I am off to my Dahlia patch in the morning...ready and excited to 'give it a go'....❤
excellent, let me know how you get on
This is just a well made video! Love the side by side for each flower, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Great video, thank you! Love the side by side pictures. Does it have to be in a dark place?

Thanks for sharing, will be trying this. I tried Zinnias last season with variable success.
I tried zinnias too, they were also a bit bleurghh, maybe I'll try them again using this approach
Very helpful, especially seeing the dried and fresh flower side by side 😊
Helpful video, thanks! How long do they take to dry indoors vs in the barn?

Paper clips are a great idea.
They are!
