This guy seems more affected by mental conditioning than splicing, since he's mostly aware, and knows he isn't able to stop himself doing whatever Ryan says. Kind of more disturbing than the splicers that are fully in fantasy land.
Kind of? Late but this is horrible. A prisoner to your own body. You are aware of the depravity you commit, unable to stop yourself from doing terrible things. The guilt would drive you mad.
"I just wanna go to sleep." "They make me hit everything I see!" "Do you have any idea what they'll do to me if I don't find you?!" I know he's out to kill me. I can see how hideous he is. But I just...I just feel so bad. L-lemme just... (puts on hazmat suit) (hugs Pigskin)
He’s more lucid than most splicers, and thus is able to notice just how badly things have gone to crap in Rapture. In the land of the insane, he’s the one who still has a few shreds of sanity left. Not that it does him much good
I think they coulnd't have gotten a better voice actor for this guy. He sounds like an innocent kid in a way, so scared and helpless. But still angry and stressed like a teen. Great job on the voice acting for this game. The audio by itself makes this game beautiful and yet terrifying.
I never actually noticed how young the Pigskin Splicer is. He sounds, like, my age... Shit, maybe even younger. Makes killing him feel... Kinda awful. I mean, I don't exactly have a choice. Splicers are aggressive by default, and Ryan's pheromones make them attack you on sight, but... He sounds so scared and alone, and he keeps crying and... It feels bad to cave his skull in with a large pipe wrench, is all.
I wonder if depends on your age how strongly adam usage warps your mentality. The little sisters are very young, about 5-8 years old. Pigskin splicer is aggressive and seems to suffer from anxiety, but he does know what he does is wrong.
@@connormclernon26 It's already 7 years since I made the comment, time sure flies. And look at that terrible grammar, haha. But I know about the pheremones, I just meant his mental state is so different compared to the other splicers. He's aware of his surroundings and he's so distraught of what he's made to do, not to say he's not insane himself. It does seem his age has something do with it, as the effects of Adam in Pigskin and the little sisters is so drastically lesser when you look at the other types who seem to completely live in their personal psychosis.
@@connormclernon26 Agreed. Some of the other splicers like Dr. Grossman and Baby Jane seem to have slight spells of awareness where they stop to question what has happened to them though, but they're still extremely far gone. I like how the developers chose to make even the enemies sympathetic, you don't see it too much in games
My wife and I are splicers this Halloween to get into character well be listening to these voice lines before we hit the town Rosebud for her and Breadwinner/Pigskin for me. ; ) Thanks for the sound bytes!
I come here to listen to this sometimes because it reminds me so much of myself, and the way my mind goes off track sometimes. It makes me feel like I'm less alone
They are. Sometimes you'll come across splicers fighting each other, I found that often in BioShock 2. The splicers in the gardens in BioShock 1 often attack the lower level splicers like the leather heads. It's mainly the houdini splicers that pick on the others, from what I've found.
This dude's voice is hysterical! Sounds like a nerdy college student. (Honestly, that's the main reason why I couldn't take Bioshock 1 or 2 seriously. The enemies sound pretty goofy.)
Alex Mercer Well from the wiki it seems they are high school football players that have been burned (obviously) down in a fire that happened in the stadium and are the most sane and aware about being controlled by atlas and Ryan
I love Bioshock but its such a missed opportunity that the only semi functional splicer is just another enemy. Pigskin or an NPC with his personality should've been a side character trying to get sober from ADAM despite their cells and mind aching for another fix. He's just a scared teen who's trying to do his best in a shit situation.
yeah, in 2 they were more like a large band of maniacs, whereas in the first bioshock they were more like people stuck in there own living hell of rapture; maniacs the same but more individual in their pain and suffering, shared with no one but themselves to live with the past
It's sad that these guys still thing Ryan is in power. Making them paranoid begging to be left of a leash they aren't even on. At that point there mind is the leash. Keeping them paranoid till there death.
God damn, the more I hear these the more I realize that the splicers weren't just monsters, they were people. And they were people you killed. Despite how fun it was killing them, the more you hear them the sadder you become. :[
"Mom? Dad? Can you come get me?" "No! There is nothing here already I...I...I looked like 15 times." "Not today dad, alright, I mean God damn!" "Mom…? Mom…! Mom…" Fuck. Why is he me?
It's really sad. He seems like just a normal kid who probably got pressured by his dad and everybody else to be a great football player and all that, and was already pressured. Add Adam and Rapture and etc. and you get one effed up kid.
A nice touch of depth on the desiners part. Almost makes me regret having to kill him all those times. Personality like this is what makes Bioshock so good. They clearly didn't want to become what they did. Still, one can look at freexing, frying, and shooting these poor bastards as mercy.
It's really weird - I started reading the book that's the prequel to Bioshock called "Bioshock: Rapture" and it's gotten me seriously interested in the lore behind the game and after reading how things progress in the book and these video clips, it does make you feel sorry for the Splicers, whereas in the game I just killed them en massé,
@theonlycafre It's because he is the only one who's still sane enough to know that he and everyone else is freaking insane. Reminds me of the twins from "Lord of the Flies."
Most Splicers are funny/creepy. But this one is universally tragic. Rosebud and maybe a couple of the others, I've felt sorry for them too. Then they try and kill me. Which kinda ruins the sympathy.
Sounds like he was on a sports team, and fed a steady stream of propaganda ("... they make us kill intruders."), threats ("Where are you?! They'll KILL me if I don't find you!" "Do you have any idea what they'll do if I don't find you?!") and plasmids that would enhance his game ("It hurts... It- it- it hurts just to breathe."), Enrage among them ("They make me hate everything I see!" *Repeated several times, sobbing towards the end.).
Joshua Gomez from "Chuck" does his voice. He also voices the first Houdini Splicer you find and Johnny, the guy Atlas sends to your Bathysphere that soon gets killed by Rose.
At the time it took place.. there was no humanity left in any of them. They were beyond saving.. all that was left was a sad little animal that only knew the one basic thing that all living things know: Survival. A sad little animal with memories of a life it will never have again. So you might as well just put the things out of their misery.
This guy seems more affected by mental conditioning than splicing, since he's mostly aware, and knows he isn't able to stop himself doing whatever Ryan says. Kind of more disturbing than the splicers that are fully in fantasy land.
self awareness makes insanity worse.
Kind of?
Late but this is horrible. A prisoner to your own body. You are aware of the depravity you commit, unable to stop yourself from doing terrible things. The guilt would drive you mad.
he sounds like a scared teenager who is looking for approval who hates his life but goes on because he doesn't want to disappoint
Nailed it.
He can’t be any older than 17. My god, this city was hellish.
I had the impression he was a highschool boy, just about to dropout probs.
the voice actor is really good
It makes it even more depressing that he actually pleads you to stop hiding.
I didn't really notice the dialogue during the game, but listening to this feels like a punch in the gut...
This is the most pathetic of the splicers. Just a scared kid doing what he was told and wanting nothing more than for someone to be proud of him.
Sopomeister TM I don’t think they meant pathetic as an insult, just out of pity.
Soperson sounds like me
"I just wanna go to sleep."
"They make me hit everything I see!"
"Do you have any idea what they'll do to me if I don't find you?!"
I know he's out to kill me. I can see how hideous he is. But I just...I just feel so bad. L-lemme just... (puts on hazmat suit) (hugs Pigskin)
Poor boy..
I wanna hug Pigskin, Baby Jane, and Rosebud, get Toasty and Ducky some needed help, ignore Waders, and bitchslap Lady Smith.
Bein ugly ain't a character flaw, damn 😭😭
god, this splicer actively tears my heart to shreds
I feel bad for some splicers.
the mom over her baby in the first level. well the empty crib. my first time playing i was like omg i can't go on and i've played 7 mins worth.
Same
He’s more lucid than most splicers, and thus is able to notice just how badly things have gone to crap in Rapture. In the land of the insane, he’s the one who still has a few shreds of sanity left. Not that it does him much good
He sounds like the most normal of the splicers. When it comes to the voice.
He’s a scared kid in a world that has abandoned all morals and sanity
This is saddest splicer there is, poor fellow :(
JokeriPokeri17 I feel bad for him he just wanted to make his family happy
Him and Crawler from the second game destroy my soul. The voice acting is just so heart-wrenchingly believable :(
I felt bad killing them, but then I realised im a good guy because I just put them out of their misery.
+Jack Ryan You're father asks are you a man or a slave? Can you make a bioshock 4, would you kindly?
you did them a favor.
may they find peace in the after life.
Shy guy313 He's not in the second one is he?
aww the 'mom?... dad? can you come get me?" Is really sad :(
Wow, this is the most tragic splicer. He's quite clearly aware what's happened to him, you can feel the despair and fear in his voice
My favorite of the splicers, I feel like this one conveys the most emotion.
Wow, all these videos go to show how much really gets put into a game. Moment of appreciation for every single person involved in le Bioshock series.
I feel like pigskin, crawler, and rosebud are the most tragic.
When he's muttering to himself and sobbing he says "stay in the game" under his breath.
This one has the saddest voice lines
Rosebud is up there also.
i just cried when he said'i just wanna go to sleep'.
I think they coulnd't have gotten a better voice actor for this guy.

He’s the most cursed of them all: a sane splicer in a world that’s gone mad
You don't really have too.
I hate killing Pigskin. He's just confused. I feel bad for him.
I wonder if depends on your age how strongly adam usage warps your mentality. The little sisters are very young, about 5-8 years old. Pigskin splicer is aggressive and seems to suffer from anxiety, but he does know what he does is wrong.
The little sisters are still sane and able to speak clearly, so pigskin is probably around 14-16.
The pheromones are making him act

Splicer: "Dad?"
Me: "oh shit..."
Honestly theses guys lines creep me out and i feel really sorry for the most.
While he's definately a few fries short of a Happy Meal, does he sound like he's actually more coherent than your usual splicers to anyone else?
He’s aware of just how bad things have gotten in Rapture

I'm on my fifth playthrough right now and I hardly ever see these splicers, it's a shame because this dialogue is fantastic.
They are only in the Farmers Market I believe.
I come here to listen to this sometimes because it reminds me so much of myself, and the way my mind goes off track sometimes. It makes me feel like I'm less alone
D: D... Do you need a hug?
It's listening to the ones who never really wanted to be a part of Rapture in the first place that really tugs at your heartstrings.
He's found in Arcadia.
It bothers me that he only appears in one level other than that Fontaine boss
Down in rapture it's cold, it is wet, it is dark and the air is probably brisk and putrid.
"Im tryin, Mr.Ryan! Please don't judge me!"
As somebody with the name Ryan, I get a little scared when he says it XD
I am trying, Mr. Ryan! Please don't judge me. Please!
Awww, this one made me cry.
Joshua Gomez. Played Morgan on the show "Chuck." So so good.

I heard "They make me hit everything I see." as "They make me and everything I see." I'm not sure which I like better.
I always hear "they make me and everything I see" but the first one makes more sense
I’m pretty sure it’s “They make me hate everything I see”
the laugh and the scream to me is a perfect example of how insane these splicers are they know theyre gone and theres nothing left to do but scream.
LOOK AT ME MR RYAN!!!
Anyone else feel like watching 'Chuck' right now?
Wow, I always knew these were fucked up, but damn.
"God damn splicers . Fucking useless!" -a splicer
Anyone else notice we only encounter these splicers in farmers market
Joshua Gomez voices this splicer. He voiced Baralai in Final Fantasy X-2! His brother is Rick Gomez who is the beloved voice of Zack Fair ❤
This dude's voice is hysterical! Sounds like a nerdy college student.

He's such a sweetheart
I felt really sorry for him... until he started laughing.

A scared kid in a world that’s lost all sanity and morals
Morgan from chuck

he's funny yet sad at the same time.
At about 1:25 I think he says "Stay in the cave..." After reading Plato's Allegory, that just seems really depressing to me >>;
I love how every performance in this game is a tour de force.
