    I asked my dermatologist about micro-needling at home, he said the rollers make tiny little tears in the skin which isn't good for it. The ones that are professionally used go straight in and straight out which he said is the best for the skin.

    • @LiveYoungLifestyle
      @LiveYoungLifestyle  4 года назад +5

      Hi Racheal! That is true that the micro-rollers for home use leave slightly more of a triangular tear than the professional ones in doctor offices or medispas. But that's okay because, remember, the needle length for at-home rollers is much much shorter. So the microscopic tears are not bad for it at all. Your skin should only become flush. Often times dermatologists argue this point because they would rather have you come in and do these types of things in their offices.

    • @bluecurlygirl
      @bluecurlygirl 4 года назад

      Makes perfect sense. The roller is ploughing up the skin but the stamp for example is straight up and down. I've used the roller three times and I'm not going back. I can see the tears and if I can see them they're huge. I've bad eyesight. I don't need glases to see them

    • @LiveYoungLifestyle
      @LiveYoungLifestyle  6 лет назад +9

      Hello Saira! Great question! I don't want to steer you wrong here. I would suggest seeing a dermatologist just to be sure this is a viable treatment for you. Generally, it depends on the severity of the problem. People have seen complete reversal of keratosis and acne with micro needling. But again, it depends on the severity.

    FYI microcurrent should only be used with a ionic face gel similar to untrasound gel. The current does not work with anything which has any oils or butters in.

    • @LiveYoungLifestyle
      @LiveYoungLifestyle  5 лет назад +27

      True, but an oil-free moisturizer or even mineral water sprays works just as good. As long as there is no oil in it. The gels are more expensive, and I don't like the fact that the manufacturers pressure people to buy them.

      @@LiveYoungLifestyle I am an esthetician and use a nuface device. Just wanted to let you know that you can use any aloe based gel or gel hydrator... just no oils or butters. Also, the nuface does penetrate products deeper into the skin so I would make sure that you are using products that don't have parabens or synthetics. I have aloe plants... you can use those or just buy a gel from the health food store. Sometimes you can find the whole leaf there too.

      Beware of some skin creams, they're plump facial dissolving. Meaning they take away your plumpness that keeps skin nice and lifting and fresh and YOUTHFUL. look at the stars ,some of their face skins are obvious haywire. Somebody who had a job at a cosmetic store kept warning me. perhaps 'clearisil was a product. plus plus who knows what other products , cause of pharmacy names.

    Happy I found you- love all your tips and advice. You are gorgeous, but not only outside but you seem very beautiful on the inside, too. I am a convert to the Nuface device. Wow - what a difference it is making for me. My question is on the conducting gel- I purchased a huge backup of the gel, but would love to use Cetaphil or something from my cabinet. In your opinion, you mentioned you do not feel it is necessary to use a special gel? I read somewhere that oil does not allow the waves to penetrate - any thoughts you have on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all your generous advice. Xoxo

    • @LiveYoungLifestyle
      @LiveYoungLifestyle  6 лет назад

      I do not feel that you need to use the special gel. You need something that will allow the Nuface device to glide on your skin. But this can be done with thermal water or an oil free moisturizer. I have found the gel to be messy and I can't get the device up into my hairline without having goop in my hair. The company will tell you that anything with oil will reduce the effectiveness. But my theory is... If you can feel the tingle from the machine, then it is working. Lately, I've been spraying thermal water on my skin before treating that area.

      I have the NuFace also that came with the newer gel which is supposed to stay moist longer. That doesn't seem to be the case from what I notice, but I came up with a Great idea. I squeeze some of the gel into a small spray bottle , 2oz, that has a fine mist sprayer. Add a pinch of salt, and add water. I think I did 25 gel and 75 water. Before I start, I apply the gel straight, spray the lighter gel over, and start the procedure. As it dries out, I just spay more of the gel/water combo. It works. The gel they sent me will last a VERY long time.

    Darnell, you are GORGEOUS! I never saw you before today when I listened to this video about your 3 favorite anti-aging devices. I had guessed you were probably in your mid-to-late 30's and am floored to see you are 50! I just turned 71 on Monday (photo was 2010). Since I'm now retired and med spa treatments are no longer affordable, and Retin-A .1% for past year still isn't enough, I am very excited about trying your routine. I have a .5 derma roller (probably good to start with) but have been afraid of the pain, so all that you said is enough for me to start with the derma roller. I hope I didn't waste money on my newly purchased Panda Box RF unit, but we'll see. Will have to see if the Nuface is also affordable as that looks like an excellent alternative a neck lift for beginning jowls and loose skin under chin. Thank you so much for a great video!

    I do home micro-needling on my face once in 3 or 4 weeks which helps shedding the top layer of my skin for new skin resurfacing. I have not purchased portable Thermage which I'm shopping around. I saw one with both RF and iPL on 3 different speeds with a temperature indicator. What I don't understand is the difference between the control of FL, SF, and CL on the portable Thermage? It is why I have not ordered it until I make myself understanding the difference first.

    • @LiveYoungLifestyle
      @LiveYoungLifestyle  7 лет назад +7

      I don't use anything. The claim is that the micro-needling allows products to get deeper, but I don't believe that and it just adds to more irritation. Remember there are microscopic perforations in your skin. I don't add anything on top. I just let it heal.

    dermarollers create small inverted triangle shaped pockets in your skin, a lot of people use them incorrectly too. Dermapens are more expensive but they don't create the big pockets that dermarollers create. They don't go into your skin at an angle, instead they just go in straight and come out at the same angle. I'd advise dermapens or dermastamps over the dermaroller. Most cheap dermarollers also don't use real needles but triangle shaped metal (kind of looks like a gear when you open the dermaroller), it's more damaging than real needles.

    Do NOT use regular moisturiser with the Nuface ladies (and gentlemen!) - you have to use an oil-free CONDUCTING GEL with it for it to work properly, so don't follow her advice because it's wrong.

      Hi! I know you are looking out for my subscribers, and for that I appreciate your comment. However, I do not feel that you need to use the special gel. You need something that will allow the Nuface device to glide on your skin. But this can be done with thermal water or an oil-free moisturizer.

    What is your guidance on how to use nuface with botox(dyspsort). I usually get dysport 2x a year. Should I not use nuface for a few months after I get injections?

    • @LiveYoungLifestyle
      @LiveYoungLifestyle  6 лет назад

      Hi! Botox takes about 2 weeks for full effects. So I would at least wait out the 2 weeks. The use of NuFace directly on the areas being botoxed will shorten the duration of those muscles being paralyzed. What are the areas you getting botox on? I tend to use the NuFace on my neck, chin, and jowl area (places where I do not get botox).

    Hi! I have really been enjoying your videos! Can I pls ask some advice as I trust your opinion because of your gorgeous skin. My first question is regarding retinol. I've been using skinceuticals .3% and now want to move up to .5%; however, skinceuticals is out and does not know when they will have more in. Do you recommend ZO .5 retinol and can I just order that online? If I can't order it online, do you have a .5 retinol you recommend that I can order online? Also, I live in the Bay area but I come down to Southern Cali regularly for work. Can you tell me who you go to for Botox down there? I want to go to whomever you are going to!!

    • @LiveYoungLifestyle
      @LiveYoungLifestyle  4 года назад

      Hi! ZO Skincare has a product that you can order online, that is non-prescription .05%. Yet, it's the strongest concentration I've ever had in a non-prescription retinol. I think it's definitely comparable to .05% prescription formulas. Their formulations are really genius.

      Hi Milena! No, I have never used Nuskin spa device. Like NuFace, it uses electrical current. However, this company primarily a skincare line. I believe they use a pyramid marketing, which always makes me a bit leery.
      When I do the derma roller, I don't use any products afterwards. I know that many people do, however. Some people use it to enable deeper penetration of products. I don't feel that this is the main benefit of micro-needling your skin, and I usually just leave it clean afterwards and use that night as a break from my products.

      I personally do not. I let my face just breath afterwards. I know that many people put on their favorite night cream or a CE-Ferulic acid immediately following, but I feel the major treatment is the actual micro-trauma, not the depth your cream soaks in. I hope this helps.
