You could have had a non-controversial prime rib dinner at the El Cortez for less instead of rice and spam.
Our family of 5 kids was raised on fried spam and rice and fried bologna and rice. Delicious! We thought it was steak! 😅

In Hawaii we use Spam in everything like loco moco, saimin, musubi and a lot more.
Costco carry Spam . Cheapest. There are lot of veggies in your spam flied rices but no complaints. You are growing up, Danny-boy.
Wow I looked up the cost of spam in my area. $3.98 at Walmart. In 2020 it was $2.38
My partner is Hawaiian/Samoan and we would 100% eat this! We love spam mixed in eggs, fried rice, or straight up. Thanks for showing off this yummy meal. Haters just don’t know!
I made Spam and pineapple fried rice a few months ago. It really hit the spot. Musubi is also a nice treat but nobody here serves it so I have to make that when I crave it.
I make spam fried rice, I cube mine and throw it in the air fryer… then mix it in with the rice and egg at the end. Way more crispy that way.
When I saw the title of the video I thought I was going to see a rendition of the Monty Python Flying Circus great spam, spam & spam routine. It is hilarious. I thought $18 was pretty pricey but you it was a very large bowl of food so it must have been filling. I have never heard of sugar being added to rice. I agree with Danny, hold the sugar.
SPAM, is Spiced Ham; which was first canned for U.S. troops during WW2. They took they took the first two letters from Spiced-SP and then added the letters from Ham-AM which became SPAM. The U.S. troops distributed SPAM to the liberated population and it became a staple part of their diet.
Spam fried rice was my staple in Uni. It is funny how such a homey, comfort food dish is being offered in a Restaurant. Lol!
Hawaii leads the nation in SPAM consumption. They also have a SPAM festival every year. Controversial is the $18 price tag since it is a very cheap and easy dish to make. SPAM fried rice and Loco Moco are the go to meals in Hawaii. The Laurel Lounges were the best part of Diamond status. The Palms had a VIP lounge when it first opened but I think it faded away. Good old days before the bean counters took over. Still a few OG casinos left but most are just a pleasant memory.
you should revisit that cheap buffet next to that college.
