Some of these next generation sprinters are unbelievable. I was a sprint coach for a number of years and had some great sprinters, but Knighton and this young man are way over the top.
I'm going to say what no one else wants to say but what all really high end athletes are thinking. First of all, is this kid really just 18 or 17? Secondly the fact that him and his female counterpart at Monte Verde have BOTH ran near world leading times as high schoolers really brings into question what's really going on. One great athlete? Ok, in get it. Assinga was having trouble breaking 10.9s this time last year, literally. 3 of his first 5 100m races last year were 10.9 and most of his 200m races were 22 ish. Less than a year later he's running near world leader status? Same with Hodges, she's running mid 23s in the 200m all last year. No one knew who she was on this level and all of a sudden she runs a 22.33, 4th in the world? As a 16 year old junior? I'm curious to see what they all do when they are on a 'real' track in a 'real' race that's official as a real pro event like diamond leagues or worlds type events. I find it hard to believe these times are not something suspicious to say the least. Yeah, call me a hater. Whatever.. but I've been doing this for 30 years and when FloJo ran the way she did everyone said 'hold on' and when Ben Johnson smoked the field everyone said 'hold on' ... 0.6m wind is not much over the limit. I get he beat Lyles will be the argument but no pro is in form yet. Lyles isn't even close to being where he's going to be. Even in their state finals for high school Assinga was running high 21.95. That's not even 10.5 months ago. His 100m was 10.69. He ran 10.97 on May 7th in his state sectionals race with 0.7m wind in his face, basically nothing. How is someone who is rational supposed to take this? I love greatness, I truly do but he seems like he is 1.5 years ahead of where he should be. I guess the thought would be, he should break the world record in everything without a second thought. He's by far FAR FAR the greatest high school track athlete of all time and Hodges is probably the best female athlete of all time after what they've done.
I also want to make sure people know he's a great kid. I love his attitude. He's smart af too. Hodges the same. I love they are here running for us and themselves. I will definitely be rooting for them all day long without a doubt. No hatred towards them at all. I'm just saying what most people who have half a brain would be wondering. Wtf is happening right now. He was born in Georgia but has lived in Zambia and is a dual citizen, I hope he runs for America but if he runs for Zambia I will cheer him on like I did Bolt. I think Hodge will run for the British Virgin islands but I'll still root for her too.
A CHEATER. GW1516 is not available as a legally prescribed medication or supplement and “was pulled from clinical trials when it was found to cause cancer, which means it has not undergone human studies and is not safe to use.”
So this guy has gone from 6.86 to 6.57 tying a national record, 22.30 to 20.48 smashing the high school record indoors. 20.76 to 20.11 outdoors just off the record and now from 10.44 to 9.93 basic outdoors in one year? This is beyond sus.
He's a kid. He could have grown 3-4 inches in 1 year... It's called development. Knighton went from 19.8-19.4 in one season. They're still teens and will get much faster..
Kids have way bigger upside and improvement arcs than fully grown men You’re still growing into your body getting stronger exponentially and improving as an athlete Seeing big jump as a youth/junior athlete is explainable

He gets props for running through the line, unlike that other junior show boater lately. Just sick of these athletes of all ages who play around with slowing way down before the line. Usain started it with his 9.69 world record but the man was the GOAT and rightfully deserved respect, the others not yet.
Usain Bolt would have been less of a star if he had run through the line accomplishing a potentially better time at the Beijing Olympic and thereby earning less money during his Carrier. Unlike you Usain Bolt is not Short Sighted. He recognized that at the end of the day he was not in the track and field business but instead the entertainment business. Sprinting Just like in boxing your fame and earnings is tied to having the ability to capture the imagination of the causal fans who’s talking Point is “ Did so see that the guy broke the world record while jogging”. Even if it is a bit of an exaggeration
Definitely have to give props to Asinga. He's run some serious times, so he appears to be the real deal. Probably shouldn't read too much into this just yet, though, as far as Lyles is concerned, because he's obviously looking to peak for this summer's World Championships in Budapest. Lyles is always at his best in the big meets when it matters most. In fact, this loss might just inspire him, just like Knighton's 19.49 inspired him last season, and we saw what happened after that.
This is setting up the scene for a "Must Watch" 2023 track season. The Jamaican, Canadian & other men have gotten stronger but it looks like the USA has stepped up to meet all of their challenges. Can't wait until the World's this summer. The kids are coming.
I still maintain that Noah Lyles is not a top 100 meter sprinter. He is not a world champion in the 100. This young gun would likely not fair as well in the 200 as would Lyles. Lyles generates phenomenal speed over a distance...the 200 is his race.
One of the few times on RUclips that the title was accurate. High Schoolers breaking 10 seconds and 20 seconds. Look out Usain.... the world is coming after you.
That’s the beauty of competitive athletics, there’s really is no “one guy or gal”. On any given day somebody can come out and do something “outrageous”! The sport (track and field) is evolving, the competitors are constantly pushing each other “to better”. Most of all, there’s no room for big mouths and bragging, all the “talking” happens with “the feet on the track”, the performance. Last time was Erriyon Knighton making his debut. Now it’s Assam Asinga throwing his hat in the ring, 9.83 😮. The field just keeps on getting deeper. Not to mention Lyles, Kerley, Bromell, AND Michael Norman is moving from the 400m to the 100m ~ a lot to watch! If you thought track may get boring bec Bolt is gone, think again! It’s moving on!
I'm really hoping this is the start of American dominance in sprinting for men and women. Track and field is my favorite sport to watch for men and women!
Obviously, he can break 10 seconds given legal conditions. I am already looking forward to seeing him run a sub 9.90 under legal conditions and get after Colemans 9.82 collegiate record next season assuming Terrence Jones does not break it this year!!!
I think this is just a warmup for Noah Lyles. Let’s not forget about last year and how everyone said that Knighton was going to beat NL, and we all know what happened next. Don’t get too excited.
My son is running a 11.1 and he is only a freshman in high school. He is the fastest freshman in the state of Tennessee. His name is Tevin Reed and he go to school at Dyer County High School in West Tennessee. Facts
The best most accurate word, expression is, "Wow!!!" to answer your question, "DoI think Issam Asinga can run sub10 seconds under legal conditions in 2023".... well, if Issam Asinga is running against professional competition like he did in this race I believe his chance go up. If Issam Asinga runs against his peer group (High Scoolers) no I don't.

Higher level competition not only pressures you, but can create a wind-breaking effect. It's a good rule.
He holds both junior and under twenty global records. They count more than the dismissible US high school record
We need to go to strictly age defined records. The HS rules are often set up to support the HS system not necessarily the athlete.
Some of these next generation sprinters are unbelievable. I was a sprint coach for a number of years and had some great sprinters, but Knighton and this young man are way over the top.
This kid is blowing our mind rn.
That is a wild jump for both of them. The question is what did they do between the end of last season and this season?
He is NOT "great by far". He is a CHEATER.
ONE WORD: PHENOMENAL!🏃🏿💨
And he just broke the U20 World Record. Amazing.
Issam Asinga is now officially eligible to represent Suriname 🇸🇷,he can walk in his dad's footsteps and be even better 💪
Just when I was looking where is from ! Thank you 👍🏾 ! I guess Tommy Assinga is he’s father ?
@@JaneDoane Correct, his mom was also an Olympic sprinter for Zambia so dude has Fast Genes 🏃🏾♂

wow, hes definitely going sub 10 this year
That young moon is ready to shine..keep ur kool. Keep ur focus. The moon will never fall👏👏🙏
They're still teens and will get much faster..
sussy baka
Kids have way bigger upside and improvement arcs than fully grown men
You’re still growing into your body getting stronger exponentially and improving as an athlete
Seeing big jump as a youth/junior athlete is explainable
Even with roids you've gotta give him physical credit for it as well, you can't just take them and then become a rocket
Yep even with drugs this is tough and this is someone who's trained in a camp where I was the only one not on drugs lmaooo those guys were running 10.0-10.2 on drugs and 20 point in the 200 meter
Still amazing!
It reminds me of Terrance Laird (in college) who ran 9.80 in the NCAA, also wind aided.
I freaked out when this happened. There’s another high schooler challenging lyles now 😂
I think Noah needs to run in all pro races only. It doesn’t look good to get beat by non pro runners
@@mssha1980 lol, who gives if it doesn’t look good. If it’s a challenge then it’s good for him. I think one of the reasons that motivated lyles in the 200m so much last year was the competition with Knighton.
@@perspective8369 it does matter when you want to command top dollar for your craft.
@@mssha1980 you know nothing about track and field. Also not everything is about money
@@perspective8369 trust I do understand.
it’s why track isn’t taken seriously as a sport and they don’t make as much as they should. Imagine a top nba players losing against a high schooler.
I understand Noah will peak later and he’s not a top 100m runner but still not a good look
Massive kudos to Asinga! The magnitude of improvement year over year does raise an eyebrow. Hope the kid stays grounded as he has the potential to dominate.
Cannot wait to see Asinga develop over the next 5 years.
He won't even be 19 until December 29. Kid is spectacular, so excited to keep watching him. They need to get a good race for these guys with legal wind, so they can set the records that they deserve to hold.
Yup! Noah Lyles has to skip another planned dinner with his folks😁.
The last time he skipped dinner, it was Erriyon Knighton that ran 19:49 in the 200m and now this.
Noah Lyles strive on occasion like these.😊. He lives for it!💪
Noah isn't even all that in the 100m.
He should stick to the 200m.
@@alexandrite1ocean he's just doing these runs to improve his start for the first half of his pet event.
Yes. Yes he will. 9.95 and 19.93 coming this season, I assure you.
Superb... This is insane level.
First time I've heard of Issam. I'll keep an eye on him going forward!
@@selvinlinton career not carrier. Casual not causal.
9.83 was gold and a world recored in the Atlanta Olympics '96
got to watch issam at state last year, knew he was going to be something special when he practically jogged a 10.4
You are now scaring the islanders. Lol ...
Yeah he was a junior last year I ran against him when he was a sophomore. His stride is so smooth and it just looked like he was jogging.
Absolutely amazing🔥🔥
These junior athletes are showing out and fearless against their senior counterparts. 9.93 adjusted is for sure world class
the savage running footage 😭😭
Noah out here really beefing with all highschoolers
This is setting up the scene for a "Must Watch" 2023 track season. The Jamaican, Canadian & other men have gotten stronger but it looks like the USA has stepped up to meet all of their challenges. Can't wait until the World's this summer. The kids are coming.
Damn that young man opened a gap in the 100m.
damn that is crazy 🤯🤯🤯🤯
I can't even see any wind there
I still maintain that Noah Lyles is not a top 100 meter sprinter. He is not a world champion in the 100. This young gun would likely not fair as well in the 200 as would Lyles. Lyles generates phenomenal speed over a distance...the 200 is his race.
The kid already has a 20.1
One of the few times on RUclips that the title was accurate. High Schoolers breaking 10 seconds and 20 seconds. Look out Usain.... the world is coming after you.
Bruh I live in Oklahoma so for track and field there 90% of times would be invalid or illegal because of how bad the wind can be
Bro has to go to algebra class in the morning 😂😂
This kid is special
This high schooler made it look like Lyles doesn't have a top end speed advantage. Its bananas.
Jesus. 9.83. Holy crap. Name sounds familiar, was dad a sprinter too?
Yup. Mom ans Dad
Hopefully he hasn't peaked too early in his season. Would be awesome to see him go on to break the record under legal conditions later in the season.
I'm really hoping this is the start of American dominance in sprinting for men and women. Track and field is my favorite sport to watch for men and women!
The Asinga show continues 😳😮
Obviously, he can break 10 seconds given legal conditions. I am already looking forward to seeing him run a sub 9.90 under legal conditions and get after Colemans 9.82 collegiate record next season assuming Terrence Jones does not break it this year!!!
I think Jones is coming for it lol
That was my thought as I scrolled through comments. 2.6 isn't crazy wind when they allow 2.0. With 2.0 wind it would've been 9.87 or so
@@HandsomeJelly wouldnt that have taken out Tebogo's record?
@@panashenhavira Yeah
Great work bro
That was at LSU. I had that stadium record in the pole vault for a few years. It has been crushed since
Everyone had the same wind. Huge victory.
You guys do realize lyles is still starting his outdoor season
@TotalRunningProductions What is the name of the song that starts playing at 2:55?
I think this is just a warmup for Noah Lyles. Let’s not forget about last year and how everyone said that Knighton was going to beat NL, and we all know what happened next. Don’t get too excited.
He is either gonna be the next big thing or already reached his peak....But hollllyyy shitvhe is FAST!
He would have gained allot of confidence out of this race. I'm sure he will aim for a 9.80s in legal wind conditions in 2023.
That's a good analysis. This confidence will last all season. He'll train with it and perform with it.

Wind-legal or not, dude can safely say that he beat Noah Lyles in a race. Not many high-schoolers can brag about that

Yeah, this next generation is crazy. We got a sophomore in our school running 10.75 rn.
Man, when are we ever gonna get legal wind in fast sprint meets! Frustrates me.

April is notorious for wind assisted times. Famously William Snoddy ran his hurricane assisted +11.2 in early April 78, faster than the WR at the time ( I think it was 1st April in fact!!)
