Congrats on the successful DIY! I'm always impressed and pleased to see people tinker away and figure out a solution for themselves, especially when improving a factory made unit.
Great vid mate i have the same idea but i use a zip tie because the steal messes up my GPS on the drone and the wire is 1/4 the size lol a paper clip works well. You gave me the idea thanks mate.......
Kind of reminds me of the old story of the USA trying to develope a pen to travel into space with spending a fortune ...the Russians simply took a pencil ! Good on you Steve keep it simple !
Good idea. Im using DJI 1 (model earlier than yours. What i have done is drill a tiny hole in the bottom of the drone and supaglue a tiny magnet. Then on the line I use a steel swivel or ring well above the rig so the rig drags well low on the drone. Fly the drone out... when the hook/bait/lure hits the water the Drone dips hard but it pulls the swivel fom the magnet.. job done. fly the drone in. With the DJI 1 i find cross winds very hard to cope with. Edit i think yours is a better system. im also fishing on 90mile.
Had it ever got stuck on the bail? Or in something else? Do you have a weak point to break before it brings the drone down to the water or ground? I appreciate your answer
@joseramirez2468 no weak point.. if it's gets stuck you'll see it on the rod. Just to be clear.. I do not recommend this for drone fishing! There's a very real risk of loosing the drone. I'm just prepared to take the risk with mine.
@ thank you so much for answering, I’m looking to make a bait release for mine DJI Phantom 3 but I want a release mechanism that can release it in case it gets stuck or a seagull or pelican hits the line
Oh wow... I had something in mind like this.. In Arizona so no ocean but same concept.. cross your fingers I don't do something stupid.. oh.. I fly a dji mini pro 4.
@SteveOutside have you ever got your line caught up or bird fly in to your line.. this is what I'm thinking might happen.. thinking of some kind of break away line in the middle of the drone and line.. just in case..
@JohnnyLeyvas-m7o that's always a possibility I guess. I've only done it a few times, and I don't intend on doing it often.. they're certainly not designed for carrying. There's definitely a risk of loosing it in the ocean. I don't want that!...
@yakikadafi9221 Turn the letter U 90 deg clockwise. Then, top edge is cable tied to drone. Bottom edge is used to hang fishing rig on. Open side facing the front direction of drone. Essentially, the same concept of "releasing rigs" like this video.
found your channel with the fish deaths didnt know your channels a fishing channel you will have been eating that sealife oooh im in yorkshire england not the uk or britain where those british bnf's unionists killed a load of us with qe2's windscale
G'day Nobby, yeah I mainly do fishing on here.. I also do a weekly beach condition report, for anyone coming for a fish here on the weekend. Cheers mate 👍

Thanks Andrew, I just wish I had've knocked this one up before spending money on one that doesn't work... lol
Sensational…..I am sure there will be many videos of fishing with the drone. Thanks for sharing Steve.
Cheers Mark... I'm already keen to give it another go... lol

Well presented Steve
Thanks Jim 👍
Mate?, this is brilliant 😊
I still can't believe how well it works... Simple, and very effective!
Tried it and it works like a charm
@@theinsightsexperience6755 I'm happy to hear it. 👍
Awesome idea mate! Could wrap a bit of Velcro or tape around the drone to hold it to it.
Thank you for a great diy as I was trying to figure out how to do it

I had kind of a similar idea I was going to try with a clothes peg... but I didn't trust the clothes peg..lol
Well done Peter 👍
Wow, well done. Pain in the butt most times to get the bait out far enough for surf fishing.
Very good idea bro thanks 🎉🎉

Excellent idea! I wonder if I can use clothes hanger instead?
@zhivago1955 the possibilities are endless.. give it a try.
Thanks 👍
Hey Steve. So basically the rig will slide off? Seems great. I’ll def make one. How heavy was your breakaway sinker? Thanks 🙂
@@kenezos the sinker was 112 grams
@ thanks
I would put it the wire the other way so if ur bail locks on accident your drone doesn’t crash
@isogan it wouldn't work, it would just slide off
@@SteveOutsideya I should’ve thought
thank your for the video
@@rtsaibr you're very welcome

@JohnnyLeyvas-m7o no ocean there, but the Grand canyon is near by.
Wow imagine flying over that... Awesome!

Hi Steve, can you drop a link of the drone? Thanks mate.
It's just a DJI mini 2...
Definitely not designed for drone fishing.
Don't get how it comes off
@rajcassim9349 just turn the the drone around and fly backwards.. it just slides off.
Mate go buy your self a out rigger clip , adjust the tension to we’re you hold the spool and it will realise the line works 1000000000%
It only works with the bigger drones i already tried it. The small drones dont have enough hp to undo it self
Ill go one easier. Create a U shape with a piece of that fencing wire. Cable tie it to the drone.
What way does the u face?
@yakikadafi9221 Turn the letter U 90 deg clockwise.
Then, top edge is cable tied to drone.
Bottom edge is used to hang fishing rig on.
Open side facing the front direction of drone.
Essentially, the same concept of "releasing rigs" like this video.
Freaking genius , no need for a swell pro
nice idea but the set up for three line don see good
I used a sticky wall hook, nice and light and does the same job as this.
