Meanwhile, the justice league recruitment in another universe goes something like this: *Superman* : Everyone has a role. And Aquaman...... *Aquaman* : I swear, if you say it *Superman* : You control 70% of the world. You're invaluable. *Aquaman* : (sheds one tear) thanks man....
Draga was somehow in the Justice League cartoon, in that one episode where Superman is trapped in WarWorld. I always thought they made him up for the show, but nope, he was in the comics. Bruce Timm and everyone else who wrote the show literally scraped the bottom of the barrel when it came to minor characters and references for the show. lol
This is a perfect example of why in terms of quality Superman books in this era blew away most of the best-selling comics it competed against. It's why the Comics Buyer's Guide said the entire Superman line was the "best mainstream superhero comics going"(along with the Incredible Hulk". They deserved to dominate the sales charts if more readers had been paying attention.
I remember this story really setting the tone with Post-Crisis Brainiac and it lasted until _Superman Y2K_ where he was rebooted as a full-on A.I. robot from the future. While I really like Post-Crisis Superman, Brainiac wasn't handled very well until Jeph Loeb and Joe Kelley's runs.
My watch later list is the only thing I frequent every 5 minutes. I watch the videos and get rid of them it always fills up. Probably bc I'm subbed to like 900+ channels.
@@ItsOver9000Productions I'll usually try and watch a video when it's released but on occasion it'll go on the watch later list like if i'm busy or it's about movie spoilers or something.
I just went back and watched the back issues on Marvel Knights Spider-Man, where you briefly mentioned Kevin Smith and Terry Dodson's "Evil That Men Do". Will you ever do a back issues on that trainwreck?
This version of Brainiac was the big bad in the (kinda bad) Superman Sega Genesis game. You could consider it a (really bad) sequel to Panic in the Sky if you really wanted to. Fun video, guys!
Superman does join the League for about 5 or 6 issues of Justice League because Dan Jurgens took over writing and drawing the series then he died LOL also the League was based out of the UN building at this time thanks to Max Lord negotiations with the international community
Doomsday being created by Brainiac is a much better origin then Doomsday's actual origin. I think some people to think that and created this false legend because it's better than weird rage monster that kills Superman and turns out to be some prehistoric krytonian super baby. Hell they even tried to link Brainiac and Doomsday more closely in Superman Doomed(yes I am aware I'm the only one who read it). Just go ahead and make it canon in the next crisis DC, I won't mind.
Speaks volumes about the sad existence one must have to make it their mission to place the single dislike they're allowed to put on each RUclips video from a channel they hate. I love the fact that ComicPOP! is living rent free in that lame's mind.
@Twisted Tristan It's so weird that they keep coming back. I hardly ever dislike any videos; I just don't watch them and let the people who like them do their own thing. I just don't get it.
@@ItsOver9000Productions It sends too vague a message in my opinion. Comment some constructive criticism to the creator on this or some other social media. Don't just say "bad," ya know?
Will you guys ever do "darkseid war" or more green lantern titles? I really appreciate you guys and this show. You guys have helped me out in tough times and always put a smile on my face and enjoy learning of new titles. I've actually bought a few titles because of this show. Daredevil: end of days and wytches being just a few.
This might NEVER happen, mostly because the event is SO. DAMN. LONG. And really more convoluted than people remember, but you should TRY to recount 52 at some point. Just finished reading it myself, and even though the separate stories are engaging, presented together, its a goddamn mess. 4 or 5 writers telling completely different stories and trying to tie them together? That's not an overly complex idea that will make each story harder to follow. NOOOO!
That does surprise me that Superman and Batman are not friends in this story. Granted, their idealogy may differ but yes, when the chips are down, they knew they can depend on each other
I admit, I have a soft spot for Fine Brainiac. Those Byrne era stories were my first introduction to the character, and he's still my favorite version of the character. That said, the point where he turned green was very weird, and a bit offputting.
Panic In The Sky also marked the end of Captain Atom being a "main eventer." Before PANIC in THE SKY Captain Atom was a DC main eventer. He even led Earth's heroes during INVASION. A rare thing for someone not in the Big 3. Back at that time Superman and Batman via editorial directive were less team players and more loners. Batman being a strict part timer in the league Post Crisis and Superman never had been in the League. Wonder Woman was rebooted as a new arrival so in Post Crisis we had Wonder Girl-Donna Troy before we had a Wonder Woman-Diana. So Captain Atom filled that role and was given alot of feats especially towards the end of his solo series. BUT PANIC IN THE SKY changed that. It put Superman squarely back at the top of the pyramid as a member of the league and the defacto leader of the Hero community. After that DC has not known what to do with Captain Atom since. So he gets treated like Worf on TNG or Kane or the Big Show in WWE.
It's not that...this is before the Bat God era so Batman wasn't as qualified as Slade was for this mission. Plus Denny O'neil didn't want Batman really involved with the DC universe as well...they were trying to push Batman is an urban legend bit. After Morrison took over JLA then the classic league was back together again.
You guys are whack. Superman and Batman should always have a hard time getting along. The 1986 reboot was so awesome because it didn't assume a lot of stuff. The Byrne run, which continued successfully (storywise) without him, was so tight that you could experience each singular meeting of Bats & Supes and every moment of their strained but evolving relationship. For example, Superman regards Batman as the one person who can be entrusted with Luthor's recently acquired kryptonite ring. Kryptonite is so rare that this is the actual same kryptonite that Batman uses against Superman in DKR, in their future. Such tight storytelling.
Meanwhile, the justice league recruitment in another universe goes something like this:
*Superman* : Everyone has a role. And Aquaman......
*Aquaman* : I swear, if you say it
*Superman* : You control 70% of the world. You're invaluable.
*Aquaman* : (sheds one tear) thanks man....
“Oh no, I don’t know if Superman can defeat the combined forces of Maxima and....that guy” made me laugh!
Wow, the story of why people thought Panic in the Sky is important is more interesting than the actual Panic in the Sky story.
More interesting than how Doomsday actually showed up too
Draaga died? This is so sad...Mother Box, play Despacito!

I thought that idea sounded familiar.
“I’m a chair. I can leave or I can stay. That is infinitely more powerful than any other chair.”

32:49 "Why is Aquaman there?" This feels like every non-comic reader's approach to DC Comics.

I had totally forgotten the ridiculousness of Luthor's jacked Australian clone body. Keep up the great videos!
Ben: They were Super Friends!

Jimmy Olsen's mailman is VERY reliable. Lois Lane's mailman, on the other hand, would cause a multiversal crisis...

Batman and Superman aren’t just friends. They’re brothers in arms.
the reason why guy garner can’t understand kryptonian it’s because the guardians after Krypton was destroyed the guardians deleted the information lol

Love the Milton fine name and how smallville used that name as a Alia’s for brainiac on the show
So this is "remembered" because of the gawd damned Mandela Effect?! How is there ever 90s nostalgia!!!

NICE! I really dig this story, even if it's not that good lol.
“Who’s Gammora?”
“Just punch who I punch in a little bit.”
Loved this one! I remember collecting this when it came out and getting every issue.
I love the "mental battle" at 48:50. XD
Ethan's reaction at 22:33 had me in tears, I was laughing so hard.

So Silly Putty-Man basically made the Supergirl form his default setting.
Also, the name of a JLU episode.
48:23 actually a pretty cool GL moment from this dumb story
Yay more comic history about doomsday lol
At least it's way better than the rehash of this story called "Our worlds at war"
