Mornin' Gary! Hope your holidays are merry & bright! Thanks for years of great videos sir! You're the hero of so many amateur prospectors. Here's to more gold in 2023!
Good morning! Been watching you for 6 years now, and you continue to share little nuggets of knowledge with us all. You make very interesting video’s with great camera shots that clearly show what you are doing. Thank you for all the effort you put into these video’s, and sharing with us all. Happy holidays to you !! And I hope you have more great adventures in the new year .
I love this. Im sitting here, on Christmas Eve, on a 72 hr shift 🤨, watching you do what I wish I was doing 😁. Although it raging pretty good out there right now, maybe I’ll get a good traffic accident 🤔, but I digress…I’m learning a lot of this stuff years later after I started panning. Well, kinda learning. I figured out the paper thing a while ago. I’d make a V, dump the materials on a flat side, and use a pair of tweezers to separate it a few inches apart, tip it up and let I fall into the V and scrape it into the vile. I did not know about the mercury. That kinda freaked me out, but I’ve only done that a few times, and I’ve moved since 😂. I have an old stainless mess kit that I tinged darker over a burner and use that for drying it all out. I’m going to do that outside from now on. It’s an older video, but as usual awesome information. Thank you. 😁👍
Thanks for sharing your "nuggets" of information. You're out mining for gold while we get to "mine" you for golden bits of wisdom! You sir are an absolute gold mine of information! Thanks for all you share with us. Merry Christmas to you, your family & all your mining partners! Al
Hey Gary, thanks for continuing to produce awesome videos. Makes me happy every time I see you've posted a new one. Hope you have a good year ahead and find lots of color in your pans on your days off and keep sharing your adventures. Often the "small pieces" you find are larger than the "nuggets" I find on our claims in New Mexico, I get a kick out of that every time. Best regards and cheers from Northern NM to the best way of life in the west.
Gary - thank you and happy holidays. As per usual, learned things! I think I got a white bowl just like that from my parents house, now I know what I’ll use it for! 😁
Appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I guess I won't be heating my black sands in my kitchen any longer, don't need the possibility of trace amounts of mercury getting into our food. Heavy pans Gary and Happy New Year to you.
Thank you so much for this I have been struggling separating the black sand from my gold I really appreciate you Two Toes and I learn so much 😘 I hope your Christmas was great
Merry Christmas to all - Gary, i'm just curious; what do you do with all your accumulated black sand? 'Just toss it out into the yard, or catch and release back into the next river you visit, or what? Is there any use it can be put to? Grist for rock tumbling? I wonder how much you aquire in the course of a year. Peace -
Most of the time I use it up when working on the brick sidewalks around the house. When I was dredging, I would end up with a couple of 5-gallon buckets. Now, 5 or 6 cups or so a year.
@@TwoToes OH, cool. So you mix it into the mortar. There ya go. I always wondered if anyone used it in a tumbler as a grit. Thanks for answering, Gary.
I really do like all your videos and have been watching for a while now. I have come up with a little game of my own because of the cadence of your speech. When you're out on the rivers or Creeks or whatever you say you're going to look in a certain area and you will let us know what you found in that area. And when you get in front of the camera to tell us, I cannot tell until you actually say we found gold, or we found nothing. I've been doing this for a couple of years now and I cannot detect anything that will give me a clue to whether or not you found anything until you actually say those last three or four words. It is like if you wanted to, you can keep Vladimir Putin hanging on the edge of his chair wondering whether or not you were going to say the United States Air Force was fixing to drop everything they had on his house, or the Russian Air Force was fixing to drop everything I have on his house. It is really entertaining to me 😂 👍🏻🇺🇲
Just curious… What’s your honest option of Miller Tables for fine gold recovery? Side Note Love Your Videos. You’re always adding wrinkles in my brain and doesn’t hurt. Thanks
Thanks Gary. I 'm sure I saw a clip somewhere of you walking that black sand right on out of the gold with a special zig-zag kind of tapping technique on a regular pan ? Did I imagine that, or is it for real some place? (maybe one one of your previous videos ?)
I have a question. How often, if ever, do you go back to spots that had gold? I understand that if you keep going to the same spot the gold gets less. But over the months and years does gold eventually get into the same area?

If set up correctly they work very well.
@@TwoToes I may have to drag my DIY Miller Table back out now that I'm seeing a few pieces again. Thanks!

I do that when panning to get rid of a lot of the blacksand in the field.
@@TwoToes That would be cool to see some time 🙂

they make a good pair of gold tweezers, you can purchase.
I have a question. How often, if ever, do you go back to spots that had gold? I understand that if you keep going to the same spot the gold gets less. But over the months and years does gold eventually get into the same area?
Gold will replenish where you found it before if the dynamics of the river stay more or less the same, but gold only moves in a flood event.
Look forward to next year happy holidays everyone
all good tips !!!!!!!!!
Happy Christmas 2 toes
Great technique. Thanks
Can black sands be smelted off ? Incorporated into the slag or oxidized off and absorbed Into the bonemeal crusible when mixed with lead?
Don't know, I never melt down my gold.
Happy Holidays!
I still think the müller table is the best for separating the gold from the black sand.
Sometimes I dont understand as u talk about the gold......but I have special method to have gold.....lol....
Thanks for the great video!
Love this channel but can't stop hearing grandad Simpson...lol No offence buddy, I also hear Yogi Bear when I watch Dan Hurd....lol
Have every dark sand contain gold
Not all, it is a good indicator when you're in a gold producing area.
@@TwoToes and my area haven't such repotation while having dark Sand
Any chance you could take a guest out panning I’d like to meet you I’m in Victoria bc
