So while I was doing some SS attempts yesterday, I started screwing around a little and managed to work out a way to skip a ton of the level and save a good 30-40 seconds. Cue video. No spoilers, but I think you guys might like this one. :P
There are one or two small mistakes that didn't really cost any time. This run turned out to be much tougher to pull off than I anticipated. In any case, this is a pretty good run, so enjoy!
Statistically this is someones favorite game.

i actually don't mind all the broken mechanics and bugs in this game
the one main reason why i cant play it is simply the load times, they are brutal and they are the only reason i cant enjoy the game
Sonic 06 got fixed for the xbox 360. Just download the mod dude. But I don't know if it got fixed for PS3.
not even the story is worth it, it is basically a plot black hole in itself

To be honest, I feel that the two gameplay styles are both rewarding in different ways.
In the older games, with control you gain speed.
In the newer games, with speed you need control.

Just jump, pause a frame after you jump, then release A and unpause. I'm just pausing twice in the video to make it a bit easier.

One of the main reasons I love this game is the challenge it offers, I don't see why people believe this game is so hard (ASIDE FROM SILVER'S DUSTY DESERT LEVEL...) Aside from the possible load times which can at times be annoying, I've never encountered many glitches that hindered me from doing a good job on the missions and stages, the one glitch where objects are sent high into the air is just hilarious though! xD Being able to navigate like this is one of the reasons Sonic games are really fun. Finding game defying shortcuts that Sega may have or may have not meant to include in the game is all the more reason I put this as the top 5 of my favorite Sonic games to date. ("Only when we are able to accept games for not their graphics but their story-line, but for what it is, when we as a community of gaming partners can we possibly become better gamers and people in our own rights.")

Shoot MARIO has multiple character that we enjoy (Samus, Link, DK, Even sub character like Luigi Wario Yoshi.) Sonic has so many games on IOS fan game's, PC GameCube you Name bet you played it. Shoot sonic been in Movie's, TV Show's, and even commercials. I know some sonic games are hard or have Bad control. But look at the Bright Side. Quite possibly one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. I managed to get S ranks in every act and boss and thought I was pretty good at this game. Well, after watching some of your videos....ehhhhhhh yeah not so much. The corner looks like a great place to cry now

honestly i’m just realizing that the Mach Speed segments were almost a prototype for Boost gameplay… really interesting to see how things developed, and that even the garbage fire of 06 had some good ideas

Personally, I have fun playing it. Glitches never happened to me until I started speedrunning levels. The animations are okay.

If you try to homing attack something at a very specific angle then you can do the "dash" part of the homing attack (which is insanely fast in this game) while going past whatever you were aiming at.
Unlike the other 3D Sonic games, there is no safety net in the game's coding to prevent the player from being launched a million miles if the object they try to homing attack either moves away too fast or isn't lock on properly.
It doesn't work in a lot of places but it's put to good use here.
You can launch to the last part, yes, but it's slower. The way I got it was optimal.

actually I heard that the game was rushed so it could be out by Christmas and people were just to lazy to test the game and make sure it worked and wasn't so glitch. So yes they were rushed but they still could have tested the game during development.

I believe the PS3 version, as there is much more framerate issues in that version.
What I mean is that the PS3 version has a higher possible framerate, but the framerate is not as stable. The Xbox 360 version has a lower possible framerate, but it's more stable.
You know what's funny is i do like this game and unleashed at times but there are some same key points about their games and that is how weirdly sonic boost run is or just the control of sonics speed. Like the only sonic game i could play and have fun with he's speed is adventure series and generations.
What the spindash in this game is actual useful. At least somehow xD

The direction of the left stick doesn't matter. You don't have control of Sonic at that point.

This game is unsalvagable.
I wish sonic said something else or there was a secret cutscene where sonic and tail are right under the carrier but they are last second to late

I would love to see a Sonic game where you could use spindash AND boost aswell...wait..SONIC DASH (yeah it's a endless runner type of game for smartphone devices BUT i think it is the ONLY Sonic game with both spindash and boost) Boost is the same but the spindash is more like slide down/slip under obstacles,i know it's not the same spindash like in other Sonic games but I was just saying it would be awesome to have both spindash and boost in same game.
Even I gotta admit that was pretty uncalled for and I love the new gameplay style.
P.S. Why the heck is there an argument about boost gameplay and classic sonic when sonic 06 has neither. (sorry, don't know the argument too well here).

Is there an explanation on how to do that homing attack glitch somewhere? Do I just keep pausing and mash jump or is there something else? I know the glitch can be done with a white gem but I forget how.
