Sonic's Kingdom Valley in 2'40"616. My old time was 3'14... crazy how much I'm beating all my old times by. (DarkspinesSonic's old record was 2'59.) Those of you who haven't played 06 might recognize this as the level I'm porting into Sonic Generations. :P Hope you enjoy, and if you did, please leave a like/comment!

the reasons I like this game so much its just because I love to see sonic run over the water sideways. that just looks fucking rad. and this stage is georgeus

A lot of people don't like it but I actually find the pros and cons of this game entertaining.

I liked this game. I hardly came across big glitches, just minor bugs.

Eh same here, the least of glitching through floors especially, still run into a lot of weird framerate issues and passing through certain buildings, and a few others but not nearly as much as others.
Dominic Mirabella tails was technically a zombie. a short lived one.
As stupid as this sounds, I think Sonic 06 had the potential to be one of the best Sonic games. Had it been finished, I think it would have been a fun and memorable experience. Unlike many other Sonic titles, you can see the ambition SEGA still had back then. Look at that Waterfall sequence! That shit is one of the most iconic and memorable sequences in Sonic history and it's in THE MOST BROKEN GAME IN THE FRANCHISE! What would it have been like had it been completed?! Every bad thing about this game, even the story, could have been great had it been finished. Yes i said the story because everything Is subject to change in development, who knows what would have changed to that as well?

Joseph Franc doesnt sound stupid it WAS true this game was 3 and Knuckles failed. Both 3k and 06 had big vision but one was rushed. While 3k was split so you could get full story. ALL bad Sonic games have potential to be good even BOOM remember old Synergy trailers Boom failed because being rushed and the weak wii u

Yeah cuz I wish they developed Sonic 06 more then Sonic and the Secret Rings so then 06 wouldn't be glitchy at all
What they should have done when they were told the game was unfit for release:
-Scrap the engine they were working with and salvage the assets
-Have the dev team focus on finishing Secret Rings
-Restart development in the Hedgehog Engine
-Give the team at least 2 and a half years to develop the game
-Beta test it thoroughly
-Release the game as Sonic Reborn
I look at this speedrun and can only think "This game would've been great if it were finished."

yeah i was lucky to barely get glitches. The only glitches i ran into were in mach speed section
Yeah ik its because stupid mach speed sections that i broke the cd. I was really REALLY young when i got sonic 06 brobally 8 or 7 now im 13
People dont just hate it for the glitches, that would be silly. Check out Clements review of the game to know why its REALLY bad
Its only good if you know how the glitches work. If you use the glitches to your advantage, then its pretty enjoyable.

This game gives me so many memories 😭 I thought it was a good game but that's probably because I was only 7. And this game has some of the best soundtracks

I mainly love it for the direction and story it was going for and it was adventure like as well. I even have a few ideas for a Mario and Sonic adventure and the gameplay should be like this, but without the glitches. Too bad sega won't take that risk again.
Hint: For those struggling at the last part of the level, take your left analog stick when you go running on the left wall towards the end.

This is actually one of my favorite sonic games, my friend and I would spend hours racing each other. It was all fun and games until we discovered the glitch where silver could hold the other player infinitely

Haha. Anytime. You and DsS are the main reason I want to become a member of the speed run community. I've had hours of fun trying to emulate your runs and failing miserably. On the other hand, I need more practice as well. But yeah, I look up to you so it's fun to see stuff like this. It's better than TAS's in my opinion.

I don’t know why but the way Sonic’s run during the last stage look more realistic when he hits that burst of speed. Like a part of me thinks that’s better than the boost speed than Sonic Generations. I can’t explain it well. I like Generations, don’t shoot me, I’m just sharing my thoughts xD

There's no charge timer. The spindash goes at exactly the same speed regardless of how long you charge it for.

I think it's because most people (including myself) didn't know you could cancel it like that. I still used it on long stretches of nothing but not like you're doing here. Great run!
Personally, I'd like to see a Tropical Jungle speed run with Sonic. There are so many paths in that 2nd segment.

The water in this game looks pretty fucking fantastic, I must say.
it is useful in many ways one is, that you can attack people on the ground more quickly. Sonic 06 added the new power of going through walls and either objects of sorts.
Holy crap.. I didn't even think speed running 06 was even POSSIBLE!!
For as bad as this game is, it mostly seems to stick with a consistent 60fps, and when it does, the game looks great, I think reaching the Mach Speed section was the moment in the game where I was in complete shock at how pretty that one area is, and I love the atmosphere of the Mach Speed Section

The gems are supposed to consume that gauge, which you're supposed to be able to build back up by killing enemes. It doesn't actually work though.

They didn't think of it, they just made a gigantic area set to run-on-wall collision and didn't bother making it only cover the area you're actually supposed to run on

In Sonic 06, there is no TAS. There's just a Paraxade0.

you've probably heard this before, but you make this game seem playable ;)
Individual level runs use the in-game timer for most games which have an in-game timer. You usually won't see real time except for full-game runs or timerless games.
I like how understandably people can point out the terrible glitches and yet if done correctly these glitches can prove to be pretty advantageous.
On a side note, how the hell did you not get an S rank with that impressive feat??

A practically flawless run. Can this be beaten or even matched? It was executed so perfectly it's hard to imagine an improvement.
I used a lot of restarts so I could retry each section of the level individually.

This was a really beautiful run! I do find it funny how even amateur speed runners can do fairly well in this game. I'm not a speedrunner at all and I was able to pull off most of the tech in this run, albeit very non-optimized!
I don't want to sound like I'm discrediting the run by making it sound easy, this level of optimization isn't, but for any wanna-be speedrunners out there, pick up this game! It's a great place to start because the glitches and skips are pretty consistent!
The most buggy sonic game yet my favorite sonic game. A lot of people don't like 06 sonic but you gotta keep in mind this was ground breaking at the time
