Already got Ultimate Bock and de Gaulle. Bock is quite good and relatively consistent, though his damage might not be as high as I expected. Meanwhile, de Gaulle is a beast, though I haven't unlocked Inferior Victory yet.

How do you promote generals to that purple thingy

you have to get to the 1980 campaign to unlock the purple
1939 - blue
1943 - green
1950 - red
1980 - purple
