      People always emphasize on performers gaining weight. Always. You can be paper thin, anorexic in rock music, and people will think it's cool. The moment you put on weight, it's all what's talked about.I hate that. It's shallow, it's lame. Are we just an appearance? Is it all that matters? Are we just flesh? Or is the person underneath the most important? I wonder why our society is obsessed with that.
      Plus I think he's lost some of the weight since then, even though these things come and go.

Hes constantly interrupting everyone and the crowd starts to turn on him and towards the end he tells the audience that the love of his life nora has alzheimers and that whenever she calls he has to answer. You can tell hes holding back tears and he asks the audience if they're ok with letting him do that? That said I would like to point out some guys named NEW ORDER, that were the fundation of club music, one of the most influencial bands in new wave/synth pop and previously kinda created goth music and post-punk with Joy Division along side other bands.
      Parliament-Funkadelic are another crazy "double" band that pushed the boudries of funk and psychedelic music
      Jimmy Page with the yardbirds and the zeppelin, insane

    This guy was ,and is a true individual.He meant so much to me when I was young.I had the chance to speak with him when he was doing an in-store record signing but I couldn't . I walked passed him while he was smoking a cig and just looked him in the eyes.He looked at me...that was it.I wish I'd had said something.I felt if I'd told him how much he meant to me,he would think I was a jerk.

    I wish I could have loved punk more but aside from a group here or there I was primarily a John Lydon fan. He was the extent of my interest in punk but he was enough because he was incredibly real and genuine. He remains so today. I loved how he busted Dick Clark's chops with his bizarre off the wall appearance on American Bandstand. American Bandstand was great but having Lydon's antics on the show made it better. John Lydon is a true giant in music. Sorry about your family, John. Blessings to them.

    • @Dermot2927
      @Dermot2927 5 лет назад +2

      You're right...I consider myself a punk fan but when I actually think about it, there was only the Pistols, the Clash, not-quite-punk bands like the Stranglers and the Banshees, second division plodders like the Lurkers, maybe the Vibrators, and the rest was rubbish. Stuff like Eater, Slaughter and the Dogs, just bereft of any talent and with no legacy. The proof of the pudding was the great music that Lydon continued to make (members of the Clash too, plus the Stranglers and the Banshees went on to make many great albums).

    I feel really bad for Johnny, stop making fun of him. He’s going through a lot and eating and drinking might be the only coping mechanism that helps him. If he is ok with the way he looks and doesn’t care then that’s fine(truly it can’t be good for his health but I think as long as he is happy that’s all that’s important).

    "A friendly bunch of sarcasm in the shitstem" - that says it all right there for me! There's two modes to making music - you're either trying, or you're doing. After so many years, I got sick of 'trying'. But John has forever been 'doing'. And much like The Green Mile or a Twilight Zone episode - he's forever cursed with it till the end. A blessing in one way. But then for all the personal issues, health and age, I'm surprised he's getting any fun out of it at all still. My hats off to you John!
