'Evidence of Life' , 'Happiness', 'Treason' and (out there for a while) 'X&W Pictures of You' are legit the best songs they've released this century, literally, Pop demo's 'PLEASE', some of us got into U2 via Pop and we've been waiting for another like it for over a quarter of a century, Pop was the last truly great thing they ever did, these are a parting gift.
I bought ‘All You Can’t Leave Behind’ and it feels like it was recently, but it was 24 years ago! It was the last album I ever bought on tape. Edge hasn’t changed much since then.
This Shadow album is really good! This is a great era of U2 and leads into SOI & SOE … 2 of the very best albums of all time. The reassemble album puts this album in their top 5 for sure! Can’t wait for their new album hopefully in 2025!
They put out the atrociously bad 'Get on Your Boots' but 'Happiness', 'Treason', 'X&W' 'Evidence of Life' never made an album officially, yes I know different albums but come on lads will ye just start going experimental again fer fs like?!? Pop was the last great album U2 have done, the others were good post Pop but U2 went safe, these new songs especially 'Treason' 'Evidence of Life' 'X&W' and 'Happiness' are literally some of the best songs ever done, the only U2 songs I've never heard that grabbed me straight away, you knew my uncle John Hume Edge, please give us the Pop demos!
Some are saying it should have been a double album. I disagree. Truth is there are 4-5 songs on re-assemble that should have taken the place of weaker songs on the official album.
They have done a Dolby Atmos mix of the album, which is being played at a few special venues for fans. Not included in the box set or any other physical releases. Why not? There’s very little in the box set to justify anywhere near the asking price as most content has already been released. A missed opportunity.
Considering what they’ve released over the last 15 years, I think we’re better off. If it takes you years to write and record albums like Songs of Innocence, then it’s clear the tank is nearing empty.
Agree w/ these comments. At these point, U2 has been a brand and not a band for as long as they once were good. Re-hash this classic, regurgitate that tour. Smoke & mirrors. Just look at a band like Simple Minds. Their new material is still good & listenable & not embarrassing.
@@willg9193"you glorify the past when the future dries up" - Bono, the future has dried up alright, we will now never get another experimental album due to their age, Pop for me was the last truly great thing U2 ever did, a few gems from each album but getting fewer and fewer, Ryan Tedder could produce the life out of the sun 🌞, what I wouldn't give to hear the Pop demos, anyone wants a snippet search 'U2 Hong Kong Pop Demo', these 'new' songs are genuinely the best I've heard from them since I was 13 and listening to Pop for the first time, I just wanted one more like it, NLOTH was a half step, what a waste, they chased chart success instead of art and not like they need the money, I pay my taxes here in Ireland also...unlike...well, we all know who doesn't, all the best from Eire 🇮🇪

Ive been a U2 fan since ‘82… I always will be but I’ve been disappointed with these re-release type albums. It’s been 7 years, time for a proper new release guys
Well, to me, Atom Bomb was the moment when U2's career died, and they haven't recovered since, so the LAST thing I'd ever want to buy is a box set of the album that ruined it all. On the other hand, I've been waiting 35 years for a Rattle and Hum box set. Now THAT would be worth buying!
I hear you mate, I want Pop demos personally and think they sold out after Pop, been waiting a long time for a great album from U2 again but it's never arrived and it will never arrive, R&H definitely up there.
Edges beard is uneven. The soul patch bit of the goatee is squint. Its very triggering hahaha *no disputing this...as i am an expert on nurturing face fuzz :P
U2 all your families and following generations have the life result for next century. It's unbelievable the charges for material with a bunch of "news" songs. U2 disappointed me from many years ago.
All the negativity surrounding U2 over the last 12 years would not of happened under Paul McGuinness. I am grateful for all the great music they have given us. They can still put out some good songs but do I want to listen to a whole album? Good to see Edge being interviewed and not Bono. I am sick of listening to Bono searching for the most intellectual words he can come up with in interviews. Another big mistake was the sphere shows without Larry. When the history of music is written I don't think it'll be as kind as it could or should have been.
Ultimately a stop gap... placate the fanbase whilst Larry gets restored to full health . We want true new u2 material , not rejects from decades past....save that for the box set when the band are no more....
The “shadow album” is some of the worst music ever made by a rock band. Am astonished they released it. Even more staggering to hear they’re excited about it and he thinks it’s incredible. No, Dave. It is not.
I feel privileged as a fan to have this album. One of my favourite periods of the band. I’m gagging for another rock album from them with edge power cords. I don’t want another album of ballads or poppy stuff. I want a man’s album.
Give it up, U2. You’re milking your legacy for every last dollar to the point I can’t stand the sight of the Edge and Bono’s wrinkled face anymore. I made my way through the sleepwalk cash grab of Songs of Surrender and finally accepted this band had nothing to offer anymore. My God, what lazy dreck that they had the audacity to charge $20 for. Yeah, it’s been like that for at least 15 years (I like most of NLOTH), but I stuck with them out of some misplaced loyalty. Now celebrating the 20 year anniversary of a mediocre album and even more mediocre material that couldn’t make it on the original album? Get lost you out-of-touch phonies.
As a lifelong fan, I'm sad to agree on all fronts. Unless they have one more album in them that solely focuses on creativity and experimentation instead of commercial pursuits or 'relevancy', it's time to pack it in.
Some really great songs on this new collection. Thank you Edge!

Greatest band in history and I love every single song ❤❤❤
one of the best 🎸🎸players ever...😁😁
After listening to all of the newly realeased material...... it should have been a double album.
I see it more as this could’ve been one album that could almost be a masterpiece
@@nickcds3419yep, most of the additional material is better than the album which I always considered to be weak for U2. Some strange choices.

I would love for Edge to go solo or form a super group with Mick Hucknall.
When Simple Minds Jim Kerr interviewed U2s The Edge.
How’s that new album coming after 7 years?
I'd be surprised if there is a new album. Ridiculous at this point

There’s a reason songs get left off the albums. Their B sides for the most part haven’t been any good
Eighties and ninety b sides are excellent
one reason being they only wanted 11 - 12 songs on there.
Not here. These are good..
