- Now it’s time to learn about some history in London! Today we are visiting the British Museum… because one must do this when in London! There are artifacts that the British have collected from all over the world, butt he most interesting are probably from Egypt… real mummies.
The we make the walk to Westminster Abbey before they close for the day. We made it in time to spend over an hour exploring the almost 1000 years of history!

Are you or did you go anywhere else in England/Britain. There's so much more here than just London.
Trying to plan a trip to England now. Any advice. Your videos have been very entertaining
Thanks for hitting on my reply, as you now know, we Brits like a drink! Glad you enjoyed your London visit, don't know how long you were here; there is so much more to see
Have a good time where ever you go. Good Luck.
Hey, there's a small chapel nr me dating to 926 AD and our local market dates to the 13th century 😎 just don't tell anyone we like our peace x quiet ❤️
Girl, you don't need that wig! You are drop dead gorgeous and we can see your beautiful face and eyes without it. The anniversary of your 29th year looks great on you. You're hair is growing back thick and beautiful and it can be any colour you want it to be.
That's actually quite rude.
If absolutely is not rude. My daughter has ditched the wig and looks gorgeous without it too. Stop being so woke.
@@petercaulf Thank you
@@bwilson5401 No it's not. It's complimentary and supportive. You're the one being rude.
@@bwilson5401 no it’s not, she’s a MILF….that’s rude 😂
i can explain the situation a lil for your question at 5:33 , those are the originals , during the occupation of Greece by the Turks , Turks decided to sell them to Lord Elgin and then brought to England, thats how they ended up in the British Museum and as we speak Greece ( and for many years ) is trying to take them back
Hi guys, loving your London videos so far. Obviously this video was taken before the Queen sadly passed away. Just a quick note to say when the Union Jack 🇬🇧 is flying above Buckingham Palace (or previously when no flag was present) it denotes that the monarch is not in residence. Only the Royal Standard (which is now draped over the Queen's coffin) denotes that the monarch is in residence. It only flies when the monarch is at his or her official residence, and is never lowered to half mast. In summer, from July until September, the Queen is never in London and has always spent her holiday at Balmoral every year. This was where she sadly passed away last week.
That delicious Scotch egg is a classic British dish, often eaten cold on picnics with the humble Melton Mowbray pork pie. It's a whole egg wrapped in pork sausagemeat then layered in breadcrumbs and cooked to a golden crisp. Go to Fortnum and Mason's food hall on Piccadilly, in the basement they have the most delectable Scotch eggs and pork pies and other amazing food. F&M have been serving the British public for over 300 years and currently supply the Royal household.
The Tesco Finest Scotch Egg also has a great reputation.
Though all companies have to reapply for their royal warrant to King Charles due to the Queens passing.
I don’t think I have ever had a scotch egg. I’m now a vegetarian so not planning to, but even as a child I don’t remember having one. 🤷🏽♀️
@@idristaylor5093 Great for picnics, journeys or just snacking. I like mine with coleslaw or Branston Pickle.😋

If you're in London on a Sunday and want to see Westminster Abbey without paying the £25 then go to a church service.
Even if you normally aren't a church goer at home it will be a cultural and uplifting experience.
Plus there will be a few things that you're never going to see at church in America.
I'll leave that for y'all to find out.
When I visited the Cairo museum in 2014 I was shocked at how badly they kept their exhibits. I also upset our guide by telling him that I had climbed on the Rosetta stone as a kid in the 60's perhaps us British weren't so good at conserving things back then too :)
Westminster Abbey’s been around since the 960s. It had an up-do in the 13th century. The cloisters can be hired out and it is weird to be eating canapés and drinking sparkling wine over the tombs but on a hot summer’s day, it’s very nice. The British Museum also hires out those Egyptian rooms for business gatherings to major donors / companies. Now, that is weird having dainty sandwiches and a wine with the mummies so close.
A scotch egg is usually hard boiled egg, with sausage meat around it, covered in breadcrumbs and deep fried.
As a born and breed Londoner it makes me feel good to see that you have had a great time, I would have told you about the glasses and would have expected others to do the same. I always try to help visitors, as people have always helped us when we visit other places. When you come back you must go to Liverpool on a Saturday evening its fantastic.
Very informative video and very entertaining way of showing your trip .Well done.
Thank you so much for sharing these videos. You both did a great job covering the area.
Beavertown is a great brewery, it’s great to see you trying some of the thousands of beers that exist in the UK
So interesting to see such a close up of the Abbey after watching the queen's funeral today.
We visited London at a good time.
When I first went to the British Museum in the 90s the Rosetta Stone wasn't behind glass, and you could touch it if no-one was looking :)
That's when people had respect . I remember those days.
That was before London imported the world's filth 😔
@@mikeoxbent523 You're not that bad Mike.
I swear London's pavements are harder than anywhere else in the world. You covered some ground but you saw some good things. I am glad you like my Capital City. I am glad you saw it before this week, when the mood would have been very different. I think you would have enjoyed it either way though.
Oh I love this so much!! I cannot wait to go see everything there!!! 😁
Amazing video! Great job!
Loads of steps, bloody hell, well done!
I was so excited to see another video of your London trip! It looks amazing. Definitely a bucket list trip for me :)
Great video!
Thank you for sharing your travels. I'm soo looking forward to my 7 day Christmas trip to London.
Nice one! these are great I loved watching this. I was born in London its lovely seeing it again. Thanks for this
Really enjoyed these London videos, always nice to see how overseas visitors view our wonderful country - I hope you were well looked after whilst you was over here 👍
I’m behind but loving this series. Wish we’d known you were coming over. London has some incredible museums
Thanks guys!
Awesome video as usual. You guys are doing all my bucket lists. 😀Glad Alisa ditched her wig - so gorgeous. 😜
My daughter (almost 7y/o) and I LOVE your videos and always look forward to them! Alisa, you have such beautiful eyes! And Jason, we like your hair! Also love the boys! My older daughter is their age!
Thanks for your positivity and information!! ♡
Wow, after watching today's funeral it was nice to see Westminster Abbey. Thank you for these videos. I only spent 24 hr before a cruise back in 11-2019 and I walked around Big Ben. I can't wait to go back.
London is such a fun city. We love it.
I've only just come across you both and immediately subscribed. Thank you for your appreciation of our country. After our beloved Queens death, I got so fed up of people saying the 10 days after were over the top and unnecessary. That's our traditions, history and heritage. It has been done the same for over a thousand years. So thank you both. Lol I want a scotch egg now 🤦♀️
mate that scotch egg looked so good. I'm too used to the tesco ones
Happy food lovers. .interesting. Well done. enjoyed
Brewdog is the best! Superb ales and ciders....enjoy!!
I have to say I’ve never heard them referred to as giblets, lol Alisa that pineapple cider looks delicious! Hope y’all enjoyed the show. Stay safe 💛
You two are A-MAZ-ING! I bet we just missed you in London last year! We were there and rode the London Eye. I HIGHLY recommend it and so sorry if you missed it! You can see London at a bird's eye view, there REALLY isn't that much of a wait, and you can pre-book your reservation on line. We pre-booked the London Eye about 40 minutes before we got in line, and the line went really fast! Really LOVE LOVE LOVE your RUclips Videos! Keep up the great work, as what I mostly love is your love for what you do, and the enthusiasm! Cheers!!!!
Loving your post about my home city. Obviously this was filmed way before the queens passing. Someone explained about the flag over Buckingham Palace and what a Scotch Egg is but there are many fares to try not just fish n chips.
The streets are hard going and extremely hard if you try to fit so much in one day. But I’m loving that you’ve taken to my city.
Wanted to say, on Saturday night/ Sunday morning I queued 12 hours to see our late queen lying in state, my feet and legs can testify for it but what an experience that I’ll never do again or be part of U.K. history. Westminster Abbey and Westminster Palace including Houses of Parliament and Big Ben which is actually a bell in the Elizabeth Tower are world heritage sites. The hall Queen Elizabeth lay in state was Westminster Hall the oldest complex to Westminster Palaces.
We’ve just said our last goodbyes to our gracious Queen very emotional day here in the U.K. but very proud of having a queen on throne for 70+ years and the Pomp and Ceremony was just awe inspiring which no other country could even come near.
I Love London! Can't wait to get back.
London is so beautiful 😍
Your videos are superb, but you definitely went to the right City to experience Pubs and Bars, so many great places to visit in London. Impossible to ever visit them all. Brewdog definitely do some great Beer.
How fun!
Cracking video you pair are so entertaining im a northerner and you've showed me my capital city which I've never been to I should change that thanks so much 👍
That's exactly why there are so many pubs in and around central London... you have to keep hydrated :) The egg is wrapped in sausage meat and the coated in breadcrumbs. Lisa, loving the "wig-less" look, it suits you missus
Scotch egg you get in supermarkets and petrol stations usually served cold salad cream or mayo with it. Essentially it’s a boiled egg covered in breaded sausage meat.
Great video 💐🌸💐🌸
Scotch eggs are easy to make it's a boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat with some mustard powder, raw egg, herbs and seasoning. Then it's dipped in egg and breadcrumbs twice then deep fried. Glad your enjoying our favorite dishes.
The Rosetta stone is impressive but you were also standing by part of one of the very famous Seven Wonders of the World ( ancient): The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, without comment. Although you mentioned visiting Ephesus. :)
Yes, the Parthenon stuff is authentic not a copy.
I am new to this channel...so please forgive me if you have already been......but Please, Please.....visit York. If you love and appreciate British history.....you will love it. Keep up the great content guys❤
Great travel channel!
Thanks a lot! 😃
13:41 - She was in her 90’s and her Father took over when Elizabeth was 13 or 14 years old. So I expect she’s been used to lots of people outside her _house_ for longer than 50 years.
Also that building is part of a quadrant, there are three more just like it, so it’s unlikely she’s in that front-facing bit most of the time anyway; perhaps somewhere a little quieter.
If you haven't seen it, you might want to check out the Westminster Abbey part of Queen Elizabeth's funeral to see what it looks like in full ceremonial use ... stunning. Looks like you had a great time in the UK. Stay safe on your travels!
Wow, you guys covered a lot of London. Eating and walking all your calories off. Enjoy all your videos.
The British were fantastic in that they identified artefacts that would have been destroyed in their own countries, and took custodianship of them to preserve for future generations.
I find the London Museum is very underrated, last time I went they had a history or London reggae thing on. Also you would like the British Library I think, they have really interesting old texts.
I loved the Museum of London. Especially enjoyed, or at least it really stuck with me, the room where you could hear the stories of those who were there in the WWII bombings. Really moving. It blows my mind seeing all the things over the years and years of London being a city, and to also think they come up with new artifacts all the time between digging new tubes and along the river Thames at low tide.
They ruined the London Museum by displaying total lies about history and about British culture. It has become an activist organisation rather than a museum.
Now you've seen the tourist areas you should check out the funky parts of town - Camden, Brick Lane, Shoreditch/Old Street, Farringdon, Hackney, Clapham, Portobello Road Market (Sat/Sun). A bit further out of town you have the regal town of Richmond which is by the Thames and also has Richmond Park.
And Richmond is now famous because Ted Lasso is filmed there. That’s my neck of the woods.
You walked straight past Chinatown.
Seven dials - you’re a stone’s throw from the National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery and St Martin’s in the Fields in Trafalgar Square. Did you think of trying a bus? Cheap and yiu get get off and on when you see something.
The Union flag 🇬🇧 is not a sign the Queen is in residence. The Royal Standard Flag means the Queen is in residence (or now the King).
The Scotch Egg consists of,
Egg (soft or hard boiled), then wrapped in sausage meat, and then covered in bread crumbs, and then deep fried.
I am currently rewatching your London videos as we are headed there in a few months. :) Then of course a cruise out of Southampton! Have you been on the Regal Princess?
I enjoy your videos 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️
Seeing someone get so excited over a scotch egg makes my day!
09:06 The tomb of the unknown warrior.
Did you see that during the QEII funeral even the late Queen and current King went around it? It's a simple but important symbolisation that even the monarchy aren't above those that lost their life fighting for their country. The ultimate sacrifice.
We missed the funeral (we are actually on a cruise this week). But I love that it is held in such important standing!
I don't think that £25 was to expensive as your getting soooo much history and could you imagine the cost of the upkeep from maintenance and cleaning every day, I really enjoyed watching this 🍻🙏
i do
Raymond is a cheapskate. The entire building is priceless, and I'm sure costs a small fortune to maintain. I'd slap down my 25 quid. That was one of the places I just didn't have time to get to when I was there last. Top of the list for next year.
@@DenaInWyo cheers my friend 🍻
As a Londoner I think £25 is an absolute rip-off
A really great, respectful video guys, one of the best. I especially liked the way you filmed the tomb of the unknown soldier 😢
A scotch egg (what the egg thing they were eating) is usually a whole egg part boiled and then wrapped in a pork sausage meat case and then breaded and deep fried. The deep frying cooks the egg and the sausage meat and you end up with a delicious snack.... The scotch egg
Alisa My name is Alisa too and the spelling is the same!! Just wanted to say I love your wig but I'm LOVING your short hair!!
Great vlog
Walking about London to see everything in one or two days is too tiring. Next time, stay longer and use public transportation, bus and tube - if there is no strike. After a ride on a double-deck bus, and the Tube, at least once take a ride in a black cab, just so that you can say, "been there, done that." Also, attend an evensong, Westminster, St. Paul, or both. To see replicas (plaster casting) of art, go to the V&A (I think room 46).
Man your videos are so good
Thanks!
scotch egg is usually soft boiled egg covered in sausage meat then breadcrumbs then deep fried
I believe the yellow sauce is something we called salad cream. Scotch eggs are my absolute favourites .
It amazing how many tourists mock the ways we speak, it’s brilliant, and a real honour lol
Thank you for sharing. I love your videos. They really make me feel I'm there. Because of that, when someone asks if I have been to London, guess what I'm going to say , "yep" 😄 they won't fact check me 😂 again, thank you
If you go to London dungeons. They tell you about the history of London. But bit scary.
London bridge you can go over inside. The floor on the actual bridge over the river is glass x
That is Tower Bridge not London Bridge. London bridge is the next one along the river a boring 1970s concrete structure. The more attractive stone London Bridge is in Lake Havasu City, Arizona USA. Which was built in 1830s London and purchased by Robert McCulloch. Shipped to Arizona as a tourist attraction.
@@grahamsmith9541 yeh that's it
@@kmc79228 It doesn't help that if you search for London Bridge the results show images of Tower Bridge.
My third attempt at posting this. It seems that mentioning the offending company name gets the comment removed.
@@grahamsmith9541 Tower Bridge is the 1 they all clapped on for nhs that time weren't it x
Did you get to visit the natural history museum? I'm going there tomorrow, been lots and loved it and visiting the tower of London too, which I've never been to, so excited about that! Never been to Westminster Abbey either so its interesting to see it from your perspective, I hope you use the tube more, it would stop your aching feet :)
PART 2 JUST AS GOOD AS PART 1
Never in my life have I had a scotch egg that was “mustardy”
Scotch egg - usually cooked until the yoke’s set and taken on picnics. Eaten with pickle.
And of course the ‘batter’ is sausage meat coated in bread crumbs
Scotch eggs aren’t deep fried eggs they are eggs covered in a layer of pork sausage meat then coasted with breadcrumbs and oven baked! Well typically but maybe it was deep fried even so there would’ve defo been sausage meat in there😂❤
Scots egg any time. Love them 😋😋😋 Great video
That was funny what Jason said. Sad the Queen has passed. Another family member gone. Everyone's Title changes. Hope you enjoyed the harry potter show. Let me know when you get a new p.o box. Cheers.!
How fun! I would love to see the cursed child!!
I think we were there at the exact same time as you! We were in London from August 10-17. We went to Harry Potter & The Cursed Child too. We had the London Pass, which included admission to Westminster Abbey, many other attractions, plus Oyster cards. My videos haven't gone up yet because we had a cruise and a trip to WDW earlier in the summer, and we went to Paris and Switzerland before we got to London! Too much travel content is a good problem to have :)
We were there the following week, arriving on the 18th. Sounds like you had an amazing trip!
Another great video guys, most museums in the UK are free, fill your boots 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
you should have checked out the Sir John Soane's Museum
I love scotch eggs and have heard they are different in every region. Thanks for the video. Britain and Scotland are on the list, as is the Greek Isles.
Scotland is part of Britain
@@timmartin2894 Bless your heart, do you cruise you tube looking to correct someone?? All of Great Britain is on our list but especially the country of Scotland. I am so lucky you set me straight on that, not sure how I have made it around the globe with out such informative help. Good day!
The difference is in what the Local Sausage meat contains? Different herbs & spices sometimes apple or chillie!!
(13:30) Hey, hon, not so crazy. That's pretty standard for poll workers in Georgia, since 2020. So far, they _ain't_ gotten used to it. It's _still_ very intimidating.
Funny. There is a Brewdog brewery in Canal Winchester Ohio. I forgot it's from the UK
The ancient items in the British Museum were discovered by British archaeologists and studied/understood by them. I think they should stay here to educate people and be cared for.
What was the name of the pub/restaurant that you got the scotch eggs?? They look fantastic. We will be in London in September and I will be sure to get that at least once.
if you ever have to ask yourself "I wonder if this is the original, in the UK, or if the original is still where it's supposed to be?" the answer is that we usually have the original in the UK. We famously just took things or bought things and shipped them to London.
If memory serves me right, most of the parthenon sculptures (usually called the Elgin Marbles, after the chap who stol...legally transferred them from Greece) are original. Greece has asked for them back, and the museum has said they were legally brought to the UK and are best stored in the british museum. Some of the original statues are still in Greece, and they have a small museum there to display those.
Are you posting a new trimmer for travel soon.
Did you know that wellington arch had small police office in one of he pillars
Westminster Abbey the centre of the world later today when our beloved late Queen has her funeral, the end of the Elizabeth Age. God Save the King. Wellington Arch where the gun carriage which will carry the coffin of the late Queen Elizabeth 2, after being pulled by 146 members of His Majesty's Royal Navy, the Senior Service after the ceremony at the Abbey, will be placed in the Royal Hearse and take her on the final journey to be reunited with her beloved Philip and laid to rest.
I believe the tomb of the unknown soldier is within the abbey
The story is humbling
So where do you plan to head to next? Utah to the arches? Montana? New Zealand? So exciting
I taught Ancient Civilizations so always wanted to go to the museum! Didn't get there.
❤ you without the wig too!!!
You could spend a week in the museum and still not see it all. Buckingham Palace is regarded as the Monarch's Office, they do have a small flat, but Windsor is regarded as 'home'.
Wellington Arch by Hyde Park was rebuilt on the site of 'Tyburn Trees' which was the site for public executions, the law was changed and executions were then carried out in prisons, also around this time the Duke of Wellington (Sir Arthur Wellesley) died and Parliament decided to move the arch and completely remove the heavily contaminated soil of the execution site.
Note to self, the Queen at the time of your visit had been reigning for 70 years not 50.
If you were in _Scotland_ a Scotch Egg (11:30) would be a raw egg cracked into a glass of whisky.
Now that _is_ sump'n different!
one doe not know why but here in the Jolly Old UK it's Arse not Ass 😇 btw there is another slightly more outlandish version of the Scotch Egg, usually called a Manchester Egg you start with a Pickled Egg wrap it in Black Pudding or a blend of finely minced Pork and Black Pudding breadcrumb it deep fry did you go to the other museums at South Kensington? the British Museum of Natural History (the outside walls are covered in carvings of animals opposite is the V&A
Lovely couple and great company. Jason, for some reason I think you look like a young Kriss Kristofferson- no bad thing 😂
If you had gone upstairs at Westminster Abbey you would have seen the Magna Carta, probably the most expensive document sold if it was to be sold, but its valuation will be priceless, the outer part of a scotch egg is made of sausage meat, the flag flying outside buck house would depend on what flag was flying for the monarchy to be in residence... if the union flag then no, but the royal standard then yes
