Lunasia in Alhambra is definitely my go to for dim sum. It gets quite busy on the weekends but during the week, the wait is usually 15 minutes or less.
OMG, you made me miss and want DIM SUM sooo bad! I live in the East coast and would love authentic Chinese restaurant reviews in the Boston, NY, CT and NJ areas!
Din Tai Fung is a popular Taiwanese Dim Sum chain - but it is damned good and certainly worth a mention. Also, there is my daughter's favorite Dim Sum place: New Capital Seafood, above the Daiso on the top floor of the shopping center across from the Hilton on Valley Blvd - this is a great place - mostly because all of the Dim Sum dishes are the same price (about $3.25 per dish, no matter what it is) -- there is usually a crowd, and the place is huge, with one enormous room, another large room, and a third big private room for weddings which they open up to the public for Dim Sum if nothing else is going on there. This place has all of the traditional goodies, like: - Jasmine tea in a pot, egg rolls, fried pot stickers, deep fried shrimp lollipops on a sugarcane stick, sliced Charsu pork loin, steamed Chinese Broccoli with oyster sauce, Ginger & bamboo Chicken Bao, Cantonese Roast Duck with sweet & sour duck sauce, Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf with Chinese sausage, Braised Tendon in Spicy red Sauce, Shrimp & Pork Shu Mai, Shrimp Har Gao, Black Bean Spare Ribs, Special five flavors fried Rice (shrimp, pork, peanuts, chicken, & bean sprouts), Taiwanese Pork Soup Dumplings, Shrimp Noodle Fun Roll, sliced boiled Goose Kidney, crunchy fried vegetable spring rolls, mushroom & fried tofu dumplings, vegetarian steamed dumplings, sweet and sour pickles (at least two kinds), Sesemie oil cucumbers, special chicken pieces in pastry, Shrimp stuffed grilled green peppers, Chinese meat balls, five spice duck feet, ginger tripe, curried tripe, Braised Turnips, seaweed salad, Won Ton Soup, Pan fried egg Noodles, Chicken Feet, 1000 year old Egg in Congee, Baked BBQ pork buns, Taro Root puff, egg custard, mango pudding. sweet silken tofu, boba milk tea - - everything is the same price. And parking is free. Plus the shopping center is filled with other restaurants and shops, including a Sam Woo BBQ place where you can get whole ducks and lots of Charsu meats to take home. Also, New Capital Seafood (or as my daughter has always called it, "the elevator restaurant", serves at late night menu on weeknights beginning at 9:30 PM. It offers smaller portions from a special menu for about half the price, plus you get as much free soup as you want, and if your table orders forty dollars worth of food you will get an almost free lobster in supreme sauce ($1 per lb.). It is a great place.
Sorry I not considering Din tai fun a Dim sum Restaurant...➡️🤫 Dumplings Restaurant...➡️ But I agree with you the Capital Seafood Restaurant in the San Gabriel plaza is much better and cheaper to any fancy restaurants around the Area and popular to...➡️👍
I took my daughter for her last time dim sum in L.A but they were closed. Smh!!! She going off to college I didn’t get the chance to take her to dim sum!!! Because it’s one of the best dim sum in l.a. that I love smh …. Lol
I heard good things about the original Lunasia, but my limited experience with one of the satellite branches was pretty bad. East Gourmet in Rosemead seemed very good, but I haven't been in years. It was opened by the former owner of NBC. Speaking of, I think it's better than 888. Mission 261 in San Gabriel is another that has been talked about in years past as one of the best in LA, approaching Elite/Sea Harbour level, but I've never been. I know nothing about Bao, except...dude, you're Chinese, pronounce it like a Chinese person. 😂
If you put a lot of MSG and chemical into the food, it probably will taste good. If you have a MSG allergy, avoid all of above. About Sea Harbour, the chef is not famous, the guy who taught him is.
Thanks so much for this video! We're honored to have made the list! Hopefully we can improve and get to the top of your list next time :)
Thanks. Will return someday soon!
@@RockstarEater good you're welcome

Are there any good dim sum restaurants in L.A.'s Chinatown?
Aha, you are Chinese~~^^ I am Korean. I got to know you through RUclips. Please upload a lot of delicious videos in the future and stay healthy~~
Sea Harbour also makes their dim sum to order. It's fresher, and so better tasting, than if the dim sum were sitting out in a cart.
I have been to Sea Harbour. Awesome place. Thanks for the input. Please continue to follow my channel to see other great food videos this year!
Lunasia is in Cerritos as well
What a travel down the memory lane. Sea Harbour location used to be an ice cream parlor for kids.

When it comes to dim sum some are good but dim sum aren't so good
Dim Sum is pricy. Good
Dim sum is Cantonese
Yes indeed
Disappointed that as a Chinese person, you've mispronounced (and Americanized) Ha Gow and Siew Mai (3:54).
Been going to NBC, Capital, 888 and Sea Harbour for years. If I don't want to drive I go to Sea Empress in Gardena.
Where is the Sea Empress in Gardena?
Ocean star, empress pavilion were the top OG dim sum spots. Didn’t know NBC, 888, and capital seafood are still around.
