- In Las Vegas, if you were to go off the Vegas strip a little bit, to a place called Spring Mountain, you'd find an amazing Chinatown serving up great Asian food with great value. Well, I'm happy to say that it's the same here in Los Angeles.
If you just go a little further out from the Los Angeles city center to an area called San Gabriel Valley, you'd find amazing Asian restaurants serving up great food with great value as well. And it was thanks to the recommendations that let me to great, elevated dim sum restaurant for an amazing meal... and it gets better because this is all you can eat! For an incredible $25, you can have all the shrimp dumplings, pork sui mai, and beef chow fun you want as well as their specialty dishes such as a wagyu rice roll and signature sticky rice.
This dining experience turned into more of a challenge. How many plates of delicious dim sum can I have on my own? I'm going to find out... We're walking on the thin edge here as any dishes not finished incurs a fee...

We frequent this restaurant on a weekly basis, and can’t speak more highly of the food quality and overall service. A+++
Agreed! They do a very good job. Everything was hot and fresh and well-made made.
Do you go on weekdays? The service was god awful. It was impossible to get a staff member's attention so ordering was a big mess. Just went on Labor Day and I don't need to go back.
Dude, you went on a holiday knowing that it was going to be busy. Yet, you complaining about the wait and service. Then you went on to talk about short-staffing to maximize profits. WOW. Thank you Albert Einstein. If you didn’t say it, no one would’ve known. An all you can eat restaurant at an affordable price made you wait 45 minutes for a table on a busy holiday weekend? How dare they?? Even if they wanted to hire more people, where can they find extra people for just one day? What about the other days where they aren’t as busy? If they overstaff, they will have to increase prices to keep up. And then you would complain about high prices. You people are impossible to please.
what a moo long ! You should at least try it before your gibberish comments.
My late step father who spent years in China in the 70's and 80's and early 90's - always said - want to know a good Asian restaurant - look how many Asian people are in that restaurant!!! Haha
Great advice! I was so happy that it just so happened. That was the first day they were offering the all you can eat special, and also it was the first day they’re opening an hour early.😁
Especially ELDERLY ASIANS!!!
I had the same thought and frankly when I heard the name of the restaurant, I lowered my expectations because the name sounded very Americanized and “Bistro” makes me start thinking French. Strange name for such an authentic place. Thank you Tim for making us aware of it. I’m about 120 miles away but it just might be worth the trek. Cheers.
@@TimLeeLetsGoGreat video! Was wondering when you went. I know they offered another variation of this that ended last month... Have been hesitant to try since I've heard the quality of food and service have gone down. Thanks for the 411!
it’s not worth driving 120 miles for it. I won’t do it for 30 miles.
SGV food scene is 10/10.
I cannot agree more
I grew up in San Gabriel, my parents are still there. Must tell my siblings that we must try on next visit
Hope you give it a try! I would highly recommend it
You’ll like for an amigo !
Aloha Tim ! Thank you for sharing delicious eats in San Gabriel ! Amazing Bistro !!! Definitely Incredible $25 Dim Sum Feast !!!
Incredible price!! Wish it was near Buffalo NY or Niagara Falls!!
Amazingly good value there and they certainly don’t cut any corners. Really enjoyable.
What are single dish prices in California? In Hawaii it’s $6 and up.
They stopped doing the AYCE btw
I’m glad I was eating my lunch whilst watching this video! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much… They really do a good job here. Speaking of lunch, nothing like a good dim sum lunch sometimes.
Love this one! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences
I am really impressed with how great the value is but more over how well done their dim sum was
So many familiar dim sum favorites! But when they brought out the beef chow fun 😮🤤 I’d be willing to miss all the rest just for beef chow fun! Love it!
It was really nice to have the noodles on a dim sum menu. It’s a filler but worth it.
Couldn't help but chuckle when they gave you a BBQ pork bun for dessert! They know what's good and wanted to leave you impressed, plus you never like things too sweet anyway! 😂😂
They really did a good job with the barbeque bun. The server was tempting me to order some other other signature dishes like their congee and turnip cake but it’s just way too much to finish
Everything looks so delicious. I wish I could have jumped in the picture and joined you ❤happy travels and safe travels. Always enjoy your videos
I could have sure use the help! They were so many other items on the menu as it was extensive. Would love to try them all.
The crispy sound of the shrimp spring roll 🤤🤤🤤🔥
That is a wonderful sound
That’s more Asian than Cantonese dim sum !!
So far you have made me very happy with your Dim Sum All You Can Eat for just $25!! At this cost, you can't get mad if you have to pay extra for a specialty sauce, or a drink, or anything you may want that is not included. I absolutely love Dim Sum. Your teaching of the do's and don't's is a virtual blessing. Thanks so much for another tempting and educational video, Tim Lee .. 😊🌿 The Food looked very good. As if deft hands were at work creating this wonderful menu.
I wish I have someone to eat this with. Dim sum is type of cuisine you cannot eat alone if you want the full experience 😊
I think three people is optimal, but I can do solo dim sum🙂
sgv I was raised down there but in Arcadia CA . Yes sgv has the greatest food ever.
Totally impressed and wish I could explore more
Tim, always enjoy seeing the new restaurants and you enjoying different foods. Good job on the two spoon handling of the noodles and beef. Thanks for sharing.❤
Thank you so much… It was a bit difficult with the different size spoons but somehow it worked😁
Hungry for more
😊❤ . Can’t wait to see another great episode with
TIM LEE !
Thank you so much for the kind comment and support!
Drove out from Vegas and it's definitely worth the drive. Excellent menu and quality of food. Enjoy it so much! Thanks Tim
Wow Steve! I would do the drive as well…from Vancouver
Don't forget to give Tim a thumb up!!!
🙏
Thank you, Mr. Lee!!! That looked so delicious!!! I have fond memories of Dim Sum in Chinatown in Portland, OR; every weekend we were at Fong Chong, enjoying family & food with Bob Louie (Uncle Bob). I miss that so much!!! We no longer have good Dim Sum in the Portland area and it is very sad. Thank you for the wonderful videos so that I can live vicariously through you!!! 💖
So sad to hear that Fong Chong has permanently closed.😢 Portland and Oregon, in general has always been a favorite travel destination of mines.
@@pwc1021 Fong Chong was the best back in the 80's; I had never had Dim Sum before & the House Chow Fun was amazing!!! I'm not sure if it's closed, but it wasn't the same without Uncle Bob. We had Wongs King until covid shut them down and now there's pretty much nothing, that I know of, anyway.
@mona2046 Yes it's the wonderful memories and experiences we cherish. Your comment about visiting this restaurant on a regular basis with family really resonated with me. I really miss family get togethers for dim sum or dinners out because both of my parents have passed. As you say, we'll have to live vicariously through Tim's videos.
@@pwc1021 I miss those days too, Portland was a different place then; it wasn't perfect, but compared to the traffic & pollution in California, it was paradise to me. To this day, I would rather have Dim Sum with friends & family than anything. I'm very grateful to see all the wonderful food & amazing places in Tim's videos.
Apparently we had the same childhood. Nowadays, we drive to Richmond for good dim sum. But for the value, LA definitely takes the cake. I'm so tempted to fly Spirit down there for a couple of days just to eat Chinese food.
God I love the rice rolls - pork, chicken, beef - don't care - YUM!
Back in the late 90's I used to go to a favorite place on kingsway back when dim sum were $2. Lol
Seeing you bite into that piping hot shrimp and chive dumpling reminded me of the waiter there who used to give me grief for eating my dim sum too hot. "It's too hot, you can't taste it".
Congratulations on how your channel has grown.
Two dollar dim sum… Those were the good old days! Thank you so much. I am curious to know what that restaurant was.
ThOSE were the day your live in 2024。!
Do you have the cow's stomach
@@mingng8580 best tripe I ever had was a pepper sauce tripe at a Spanish tapas bar in the Canary Islands.
Woohoo!!! Middle of the week video drop!! Thank you, Tim...it came at a perfect time... it's been a stressful week. That looked so good, Tim...and i agree, gotta get the sticky rice!! It's one of my favorites. Glad they let you take it home ❤. Thank you again for bringing us along (and thanks, amy). Have a great rest of your week.
Totally understand, the stresses at work! Hope your week gets better and maybe unwind with the dim sum!
@@TimLeeLetsGo 🥰 Thanks, Tim!! Your videos do a world of good for de-stressing.
Ok I’m adding this to my la list along with San Pedro fish market
Great choices! However, while this is great value, the fish market… Well, let’s just say you need a deep wallet😁
My husband and I live close to the SGV and venture there often. We've been to Bistro 1968 a few times and think it's excellent. However, we didn't realize they now have an all you can eat menu. We'll definitely check it out. A little tip if you're ever in the area again. About 5 minutes from Bistro 1968 is Sea Harbour Seafood Restaurant. It's excellent for dim sum! Jonathan Gold, who was a local food critic, gave it an extremely high rating. Let's hear it for the SGV!
I actually saw the restaurant when I was on the way for the dim sum. It was still closed at the time, but I was tempted to check it out as I saw all the neon signs there.
Food cost is around 30% for restaurants, so at 25.88, tim has to eat around $90 worth of menu price to make the boss break even just on food costs. Eating 10 items at 8 bucks each, is 80 bucks, so the boss still didnt lose money, but has labor, rent, utilities, insurance costs. 11 items is the break even point, 12+ items is when boss is losing money.
We went with a party of four, they allowed 2 items person. we ordered 2 round of 8 dishes. They were not happy we wanted to order a 3rd round. we only ordered 4 items and only 3 came out. Waited 10 min. and left. The food was average and not worth $25.88 per person.
Several dim sum places i know charges around $6.per plate, which is a better value.
@@stevekwong1323 exactly. Other place is 6 bucks, this place with nice renovation bumped it up to 8. That means it probably takes 14 items to break even on food costs. (14x6=84). Food costs for this place is probably under 30%.
A fantastic quantitative analysis! I would never have ordered so much for myself unless filming. I could have done with a few dishes left, but I did mention to them that I would cover any costs for any dishes, not finished. They were kind enough to wrap it back for me.
@@stevekwong1323unless it’s a high end place, all typical Dim Sum dishes taste pretty much the same every where.
How do you manage to make food look so tasty? You had me stepping to the fridge 😅
Oh, believe me, it’s not me… They did an amazing job with their dim sum
Shumai is my favorite, and their’s looks amazing!!
Really glad that they’re not afraid to use the fatty pork
GREAT DEAL!!
Thank You Tim for sharing this Video!
Last Time i had Dim Sum it was $86 for 2 People! This is Really a Bargain!
✌✌
It really is a great bargain! I am very impressed with the quality that they’re able to deliver. Exactly like à la kart dim sum but at all you you can eat pricing.
tim i'm incredibly impressed by your ability to consume so much food in one sitting
It's was $19.68 until July 31. Glad the AYCE option is still available though.
Even at 25 or $26, it’s an incredible deal
Address?
It's still a good deal for $25.00. I wish we had a place like that in NorCal.
Thanks Tim. It looks so delicious and so cheap too. That will be on my bucket list. I make them from scratch, but definitely it's time consuming. I no longer take these orders bc of that. But it's nice to just go out sometimes. My husband gets picky bc it's not good where we are. My son will say let's go home and make them. 😆
I'll just go for #2 shrimp dumpling, #6 beef chow fun #8 beef rice roll wagyu ..that's all my tummy could digest no more... but I accomplish my goal in Bistro 1968..LOL thanks for this video.
Might I tempt you with the sticky rice?
@@TimLeeLetsGo ...sorry to say I'll pass on that... thank you though...
AMAZING! I would have gotten the sticky rice too, as it's my favourite!
It's so good!
Thank you for sharing! I was so excited when I thought this place was in Vancouver! Darn! Will need to make a trip out!
I wish I was there, too! lol
I wish you were there too… I could’ve use the help!
We just finished eating here. Just as good as you described! And the Portuguese Dan tats were the best I've ever had! Thanks Tim!
I hope you got a chance to try the sticky rice! They’re kind of a traditional favorite. Hope you are rolling out of there.😁
The quality of the dim sum looks great. The filling is generous unlike a lot of the other places. I agree with Amy, I definitely wouldn’t order the sticky rice and chicken in lotus leaves. If you eat it there will be o room to eat other dishes.
I am not asian and I love using chopsticks, so fun!! Food looks yummy!
Very good experience, I would highly recommend… The chopsticks sometimes adds another layer of adventure to eating
I like eat Dim sum, Thank you for your help
I hope you get a chance to visit. Very enjoyable and it’s kind of fun because you try to get your moneys worth…
"You only live once only you can live longer if you don't have too many of these." I agree, part of living is trying new things and enjoying the things you love.... just in moderation. Great video 😊
Yeah cool new Video and Friday Tim is a pleasure to see you thank you very much 🧐🤩👏👍
Thank you so much and wishing you a happy weekend!
I enjoy San Gabriel very much when I’m there. Great for foodies. 🌺🌺🌺
This is my first time visiting there and definitely won’t be my last
Oh my gosh! that dim sum all you can eat for $25 is so cheap!, and the size and quantity of the dim sum is so much bigger than what we get down under, I pay $7.90 for vegetarian and $8.90 for seafood serve of 3 dim sum here in Adelaide SA, you're so lucky! our dim sum is much smaller in size too, we end up paying around $85 to $100, enjoy your meal, I really enjoyed watching this video, love watching you Tim Lee 😘😋🤗**
I am pretty impressed with the quality of food in Australia in general… But I must say that this place does a fantastic job with their dim sum. They certainly don’t cut corners there.
Hey my good friend, Tim, you are Asian, dude, don't be ashamed of using chopsticks. I am a Vietnamese Asian also. And to me, chopsticks are the best to pick up food. Thank you very much for your hard work making entertaining RUclips videos for us viewers to enjoy. Thank you 🙏
I am not asian but I use chopsticks ALOT. I love them. There should be no shame in how you eat
I am Aussie I would stave 😂 can not use chop sticks I'm afraid.
Love using chopsticks as well…. My god kids have a bit of a struggle using chopsticks, but once they figure it out the left one from the right one, it all works out.
I'm Aussie and I even use chop sticks, even with my roasties! people stare but I don't care!
I'm ashamed to say I have never learned to use Chopsticks. And I get jealous watching the ease with which others use them. That's ok, tho - as Tim Lee would say! I enjoy watching people use them more than being jealous!! It's beautiful to me!! 🌿
I’m so excited to watch each new submission to your channel! Thanks so very much for sharing 😊
Thank you so much for your kind comment and really appreciate the support. All the best to you and yours.
Just went there on Saturday. Loved it❤
Geez, I can't believe I started to watch this before bed.. Just came from work... Now I'm hungry as hell guys dim sum... And I'm in Redondo beach.😢
Oh, love the pier at redondo beach
Yummy yummy yum yum - wish I lived near your Tim - I would so eat all of that with you!!
I live in San Gabriel and didn’t know there is an all you can eat dim sum restaurant. Looks pretty nice.
incredible!
wish you well, always!
Bonnie
Thank you so much,Bonnie! Hope you are keeping well also🙂
Thanks Tim😊. Good vlog 👍👍👍
Thank you 🙏
I like dimsum looking so good
They really did a good job with the dim sum. Very fresh and made well.
Those are some of the largest sui mai that I've seen. With the filling being so dense; it's quite a deal:)
I’m really impressed with the quality of the dim sum chef there. Would highly recommend if you’re in the area.
by adding the AD on RUclips, you pay $25.88, in June it's still 19.68, 31.5% up, what a ripped.
Woo hoo, bonus video from Tim ❤😂😉...always a pleasure to see a video from you...always a great food adventure...all the dim sum looked delicious...enjoy and have a great day!!! ❤😊
Thank you so much, Jade! Really lovely to have a dim sum lunch in LA especially when it’s all you you can eat
I grew up in SGV. Asian foods are amazing there.
First time visiting there, and it was such a nice place to find all the great food
The more you kept suggesting avoiding the sticky rice, the more tempting it became. LOL
Looked really good! I’d love to go but worry about a language barrier as I speak no Chinese of any dialect.
I think you’ll be OK… they speak English very well and the menus are in many languages also. Would highly recommend the sticky rice if you do get a chance to give it a try
I moved out of the San Gabriel Valley area about 6 years ago. Alhambra, Monterey Park, San Gabriel and Arcadia always has really good Chinese food. I did not know about this place but looking at the video Tim provided. The food look very good and you can't beat the All you can eat buffet of almost $26. I need to take my 92 years old father for some dim sum. He been wanted some good food.
Wow, that’s amazing! What a wonderful way to spend the time with your father… Really great dim sum there and wow… I can’t get over the 92 years of age!
High quality dim sum, yummy! Thank you, Tim. 👍 Love your videos.
It’s nice to find a place with great dim sum and all you can eat 😁
Great review ....will definitely try that place when I'm in California ❤
Hope you get a chance to visit and would highly recommend
Thanks ! Next time we’re in L.A. we will definitely go there to eat dim-sum.
Would highly recommend 🙂
Once again I loved it
You need to come to Calgary
Keep up the great work
One of my fondest memories was a trip to Calgary for the gray cup during the old university days.
Heard about this restaurant from other RUclipsr. Will definitely try this place when we are in Los Angeles.
It is incredible and they’re all you can eat. Menu is so expensive. I wish I could have tried many more dishes.
Hi Tim for 11 years I worked for burswood casino they had a dim sum at getting Palace a Chinese restaurant it was so busy sometimes the chef would send down the leftovers to the stores area so yummy is very popular ❤❤❤ hope everyone is well 💕
That’s quite a treat! When we had a surplus of food when I was working in the restaurant, we would give them to any suppliers who came by
… and thanks for the pro tips. A long time ago I had a Chinese employee who, after she laughed at my clumsy chopstick skills, taught me how to use a spoon for slippery things. A bowls seems safer, though. Fewer stains on the shirt. 🤣
Great to hear and I need all the help I can get… I’m a bit of a messy eater
Your Will Rogers comment made my morning - if stupidity got us into this mess, why can't it get us out? Great words of wisdom .. 😅
😁
Another fascinating restaurant the yum cha looked amazing
I wish I had one of these places in Vancouver… We have great dim sum here, but not such a good value
Tim❤ thank you for a suprise Thursday video. Hope you are enjoying your California vacation.
Thank you so much and happy to find such amazing places there
Looks awesome. Might be worth the trip from the San Fernando Valley!
Oh, from one valley to the next😁
Everything looked delicious!! 😊
I can imagine a better experience than all you can eat dim sum
Hey Tim Last Time I Been There About A Month Ago The Price Was The Same As The Name Of The Restaurant Price Was $19.68
@@larrynguyen3324 They ended the $19.68 price on July 31.
That’s a great way to do it! I suspect changing the restaurant name to bistro 2588 would’ve been out of the question
Bro, LA' style Dim Sum goes with a Ts
Ingtao beer after your starting hot tea😊
Delicious food, enjoy in good health !!
Thanks for sharing an excellent video.
Food looked wonderful and a fantastic price 😊
Hi Tim I hope you’re well, I love a great Chinese restaurant and that looks Ike a great one. Delicious food 😍
It’s always great to find a great dim sum spot… Found a few great ones in Australia and really grateful to find one in the Los Angeles area
Yum! Great video. I wish I were there.
Hi Tim , welcome to Los Angeles. thanks for your review.
Really enjoying Los Angeles and hopping between LA and San Diego… I’m not sure where Legoland is but around there at some point
Good job Tim, so jealous wish I was there! Love yum cha, that price is unbelievable. I want those prawn spring rolls that you got first, you can have all the tripe and the chicken jelly salad lol.
So awesome you tried this place. It's literally less than a mile from me. Glad you enjoyed some grub in the 626! BTW, it was only $19.68 a couple of weeks ago. Still worth it.
Wow! This is such a great area that you live in. So much great food and so affordable too. We have great dim sum in Vancouver, but we don’t have such good value like this. Really impressive.
Yummy food 🥘
Yummy desserts 🍮
Excited to know they have a sister restaurant in LA
Thanks for the super video and review.
Wait… There’s another restaurant?
After seeing this video, I made the effort to drive 50 minutes in traffic to eat here with my mom on a Wednesday for lunch. It was only a few tables with diners there at 1:30. We were excited to try at first and got 8 dishes. They also give you a free pot of tea which is a plus. Service was friendly but few of the wait staff can speak English so it was a bit of a struggle.
The buffet wasn't extensive. just enough and it lacks some of my favorite dishes at other dim sum places that are very common. The offerings were disappointing in varieties. My mom loves the steam spare ribs but i didn't try it. My favorite was the fried chicken wings (yumm and we ate 4 dishes LOL). And contrary to what Tim says, get the steam rice in lotus leaf! It was moist and very good. The Okinawan brown sugar moist cake was the only dessert we tried and we love it. Other than thes dishes, the rest were very average and not good like the other dim sum places. We ordered the wagyu beef fried noodles but they never brought it out. The har gow was huge but very tough, though the shrimp feelings was good. The other dumplings were below average.
Overall, i wouldn't eat here again as the quality was below average. I feel as if you come with one or two diners, you may get -your money;s worth a bit in savings but for a group of 3 diners it's best to go elsewhere as for $80 and tips, you will eat as much or even pay less at other non buffet dim sum places and where the taste and quality is much better. I wouldn't go back.
Much fresher. Rather have it like this then picking the dishes from a cart.
I wanted to see this restaurant because we’re planning on going here on Saturday
I really wish I was there too. It all looked so good.
I really wish you were there too! Could have used the help and we could’ve explored more of the dishes
I love your videos!
🙏 thank you so much
Thanks for another amazing video.
Those where some generous portions. It would be nice if they would cater to the single diner with 1 or 2 pieces per order. You realy need to go there with a group of at least 3 to be able to sample more.
I have never been to a dim sum. The closest for me is to get steamed or fried dumplings, with a few other offerings of a Chinese appetizer menu. 😊
I consider myself a bit adventurous. But not sure I could handle tripe. But everything else looked so good.
Glad you enjoyed your meal.
Yeah, I agree. Having a smaller amount of items would’ve been perfect for the solo or a small group of diners. Really enjoyable there nonetheless but it was very difficult to get enough variety without filling up too much
Thank you, Tim. We will definitely try it.
Thank you so much and hope you do get a chance to try it. Very good value and very good dim sum.
Enjoyed your video!❤❤❤
Hello Tim great job, thank you for sharing😻I’ve been in LA but never been to San Gabriel, I think it’s so hot over there for sure. Watching you eating dim sum so I have to go myself this weekend coming in 2nd Chinatown flushing,New York. Enjoy 😊
Thank you so so much and really love New York also! Would love to explore Flushing more as I heard there was amazing Chinese food there
Hi tim that was a lot of food wow!!! Question: do you not eat breakfast or lunch before you go to buffets? So you could have a bigger appetite? Thanks for sharing
I sure wouldn't.. 😅
Oh, I generally don’t eat breakfast or have something very small for lunch when I’m going for a buffet… I don’t wanna go in they’re starving otherwise I’m gonna fill up on the first dishes I see
Thank you Tim for another great food video. LA is the way to go for all you can eat buffet in West Coast. 🫡
Totally agree! So much variety in the LA area
@@TimLeeLetsGo you definitely check Irvin or SD for more buffet variety
I hope they have a baked creamy eggyolk bun because it’s my favorite dim sum dessert❤
I remember just my mum and dad had a made in Singapore, and a Indian restraint not in the back garden. but not far they did food for them walked it in. from the restraint. 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Mahalo Tim for another great review. We've added this to our list for when we're in LA area. Dim Sum is getting so expensive in the Bay Area, so nice to know you can get good quality in So LA. Happy Travels. If you are ever in the Bay Area, we'd be happy to recommend a few must eat places.
Oh, I do miss dim sum in the Bay Area! Fond memories there with friends
You have made so many friends on your path. I hadn’t met you but feel like you’re my friend.
I am truly grateful for this RUclips community. Really having a lot of fun meeting so many people in person and through the interactions here
i'm not easily impress, but this place looks good. lots of filling and minimal dough. freshly made.
I am quite impressed as well and just a bit concerned whether they can continue to offer this at $25. And incredible deal and I think they might have underestimated how much people can eat!
They would make a profit out of me, even I pack it all in. I usually spend $30 for 5-6 dishes. The price you mentioned for a la cart is pretty steep comparing to the usual dim sum places. The place look great though. Thank you
This is a great video
🙏 thank you so so much
Thank You 🙏 for sharing ❤

Been wanting to try this place! I always go to the coffee shop, Fresh Roast, down the street from this place.
There are so many great shops and restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley area. Definitely would be fun to explore more.
