Oh yeah, we still bale them here, too for the same reason and also to sell. Round bales are wrapped for baleage. You can cover some serious ground with that tedder!
I really enjoyed the video. I always like to see how other people's operation works.not to different from the sand hills of Nebraska. The one thing I don't see out here is the hay kicker on the bailer. I'd like to have one in mine.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video Adam. Finding good help in hay is getting harder and harder these days so its good to have that kicker so you don't have to hire guys for the wagon
Hay making will be here again before you know it mike. Love that pipe! Nothing like raw power right there..... thank you for taking us through the hay making process
Love seeing the warm weather videos in the winter. Mike about how many square bales do yall average putting up a year. We use to do about 5000 small squares of straw each year. You know its amazing when you think about how much weight those old barns hold up in hay in the top and the barn.
Thanks for the videos. When I was younger we had two people in the wagon and one in the barn. We always tried to bury the person in the hay mile. I also remember my uncle and I unloading hay. My uncle found a snake sticking out of a bail. My grandfather was in the mile we put the bail on the elevator so the snake would be at eye level with my grandfather. It failed he never noticed it.
spent many a days when i was young stacking in the wagons and in the hay mow was hot and dusty but good honest work to be proud of when the crop was in
Great watch - I have never seen the extra equipment to throw the bales into the trailer from the baler before - Back when I did some hay making I did my share of picking up and throwing onto a trailer by hand then later with a lifter - But all good stuff - thanks
Thanks for the video Mike we will be making hay soon I hope supposed to get 7-10” here in south Ia Monday that’ll suck since have to work till Tuesday😂
Wow what a difference in bailing hay, when I bailed the tracker was out front, hook up to bailer then the trailer one guy was in tracker and three guys on trailer one had the hook in hand he grabs the hay and pulls on trailer and the other ones stack the hay up to top of back.
if you google upstate and look at Wikipedia it says "upstate New York is the portion of New York State north of the New York metropolitan area" Major cities in Upstate New York from east to west include Albany, Utica, Binghamton, Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo
self-propelled windrowers or swathers drive like this - mower in front so you can see your work better. It's been around for at least 50 years. These are NOT typical tractors, but dedicated mowing machines or mowing/ conditioner machines. Modern machines can mow at roughly 10mph and sometimes faster. These purpose-built machines are ONLY for mowing and can't de-tach the mowing head for other farm purposes like most Ag tractors

@@scottgromoshak7118 That bakes per acre all depends on the field. We've had fields where it was beautiful hay but the yield wasn't there. When. We do our alfalfa we make sure to plant heavy so you get a nice thick crop and after we take a cutting we put fertilizer down
It’s great to see you’re still baling small squares! Up this way, most have gone to big square bales.
Thanks John. The small squares are easier to feed in the old tie stall barn. We do make some round bales to feed the heifers in the pasture

Would you ever consider getting a bigger or different rake
Right now this rake is doing a pretty good job. The price of a double rotary are pretty high. Maybe someday
Never see cutting hay driving the tractor in reverse. I s there a reason for doing that?

No, instead of making a video of just mowing, just raking, just baling etc I was showing the whole process. Same with the tillage and the chopping
